Origami leapt high over the broken Badnik that had very nearly knocked her down. That had been far too close. The jump took her up to a sturdy branch, one she spun around to land neatly on top of it.

“Well, well. Rouge the Bat. If it isn’t the biggest waste of talent in the business.” She looked Rouge up and down, and then smirked. “All the drive, all the skill, and you waste it working for the government. Pity.” She tapped her chin, looking down at the robotic carnage below. “I didn’t expect to find you and Murderbot-3000 here, but perhaps I should have.”

She smiled, but there was a chilliness in her eyes. “Let me not be rude. I am Origami.” She swept a gallant bow. “I’m going to assume you’ve heard of me. As for what I’m doing here? Simply getting ahead of the competition.” She did not stop watching Rouge, that uncanny red stare boring deep. “It’s good to know my suspicions were on the mark. These bots don’t build themselves, do they? The Eggman lives.” For a few seconds, she watched Omega do his (it’s?) thing, then returned her attention to Rouge.

“Where’s the third one? Don’t you usually work as a team, or some nonsense?” Her eyebrows quirked up.

Kassandra, still elated from a stellar performance, slipped backstage to do some people watching. They were still on a mission, after all. As she was heading back, she saw a girl in a silvery bodysuit exiting a room and coming forward.

Time to get to work.

“Hey! The crowd is really lively tonight.” She kept a smile on her face. “Loving the costume, too. You look great.” She let out a very soft sigh. “If only there was a way to make more money doing this. I would love that. Applause is great but it doesn’t buy me nice things, you know?”

The Contortionist looked at Kassy and blinked a couple of times, batting her long black lashes. She really wasn't in the mood for small talk. Right now though Kassy was just annoying her.

"I know.." She said, sounding disinterested.

The dark haired girl attempted to push past Kassy and continue her way to the stage.
"Excuse you."

Kassy had dealt with rude people before. This would be no different. “They all said that you were the queen of this place. Now I see what they mean. Your… aura is just so different from the others. You’re really in control here, aren’t you?” She was simpering, just a touch. She had a feeling that this woman would enjoy it.

The sudden burst of flattery made the girl halt in her step and she turned around scrutinising Kassy. Her slit eyes were narrowed. What was she trying to get at here?
"I like things to go my way and being in control is the best way to do that"
The Contortionist despised women nearly as much as she did men, but there was a kinship between women even she wouldn't deny.
"You said you wanted to make more money. Promise someone something they really want, dangle it in front of their face and you can make them do anything"

She smirked. They were clearly in a completely different league.
"Smart girls don't have to work hard"

“That’s good advice. I know a few people who aren’t that bright. It’d be really easy to wrap them around my finger.” It was remarkably easy to lie. Kassy tossed her curls, smiling in a ruthless way. “Maybe one day, I’ll be as good as you.” This was going nowhere fast. This girl was clearly wrongheaded, but not Kobra-brand evil. Maybe she was tugging on the wrong line here.

Hopefully Sanctuary

Devika chucked softly, as she put the wooden tiles into a bag once the game was over. "It's not something you can play once and master, that's for sure. You did good. Although mom never pulls punches." Mara had gotten an early lead with the word 'exercise' and could not be caught. Now the night was nearly over. Their sleeping places - Devika's old room, and a spare guest room for Roxy - had been prepared.

"Well... I think I need some rest. It's been a long day." She needed to meditate and properly shake off the little vestiges of emotions that still clung. "I'll see you in the morning. If you need me, I'm just across the hall, ok?"

Kijani tried not to let her jaw drop. This was vital information, and Adam wasn't around to hear it. Before she could ask more questions, however, she too began to hear the engines. Drawn, she went to the window to hear the Imperial command, and yanked the curtains in a hurry.

"No, no, no... this is awful, how could they have found me?" Kijani whispered, her face wan with fear. "Master, I saw a lot of stormtroopers. I've gotten better with the saber, but there's no way I can fight them all by myself." Then she had an idea. One that could hopefully save them.

"Stay here and hide if you would, Master. I'm the one they want anyway. I'll go to find Prince's Eskel's ship. He has a security force, we could have a good chance of victory with some help!"

WIth that, Kijani snuck outside. Weeks of being on Dagobah made her steps light and quiet. She also knew exactly which places wouldn't hold her weight, and if they wouldn't manage her, no way could the ground hold up a stormtrooper in full armor. Already she could see a few of them struggling, their white uniforms being caught in the brown muck. That would be a good distraction. Time for another. After managing to sneak and travel around, she knew exactly where she was. Even here, the Stormtroopers were spreading like so many insects. Kijani reached out with the Force, tugging at the largest rock she could.

"What the-"

She dropped it right into the water, soaking the small squad of Stormtroopers in water and mud. And then a roar sounded as the Dragonsnake burst from it's watery lair.

"Oh crap, shoot it, shoot it!" As the shooting and roaring started, Kijani darted past behind the fray, making tracks for Eskel's vessel.

As they ran, Jin did their best to keep the two women ahead of them from danger. It felt fruitless somehow, as the scenery warped and changed, and the pursuers kept pace. All the while, there was an odd pressure in this cell – if they even were in a cell anymore. It was as if the very air was hostile and hateful.

After a particular set of warped stairs, the three would come to a dead end. Flat walls, no doors, no corners. Nowhere to hide.

Jin turned and faced the shadow person and creatures, which were closing in slow as if savoring the moment.

There didn’t look like any way out.

While Ja’s performance was making the crowd go wild, Kassandra was backstage, getting prepared. She was dressed in a sparkling, blue and green costume with golden trim, one designed to catch the light. There were little scale details on the leggings, and half of a skirt. It was a little thin in some places and hugged her like a glove. She wasn’t sure how comfortable she was about it. Her headphones were slipped over her ears, and she was slowly warming her throat, humming under her breath.

She really should have told Ja to keep her singing a secret. Now she was on the spot for a live performance that she wasn’t even sure she could pull off. Her heart wanted to burst from her chest, and her hands were shaking. But there wasn’t time to call it off.

“And now… the mystical stylings of the mysterious mermaid, Lady Velvet!”

It was time.

Kassandra (or Lady Velvet as they were calling her) stepped out from backstage. Already, a large tank had been set up. The crowd was politely applauding. Why were there so many people?! Her illusion-green eyes flicked from face to face. They were going to hate it, they were going to laugh! Trying to smother a fear that made her weak in the knees, she stepped toward a very large tank of water that had been set up previously.

“Ahem.” What to say? She had a little receiver attached to her ear, one that was extremely waterproof. “T-Thank you all for coming out tonight! I… I hope you like my song!”

With that, she ascended the steps and slowly, walked into the water. As soon as her knees hit, she let herself transform. There were soft gasps from the crowd, and one little kid definitely started to cry. Before Kassy could think too much on it, the music started.

The flute intro was soft and inviting. Kassy thought about the first time she had heard this song, a very long time ago, when she was small and her parents had still been alive. She was 8 and had never heard opera before, but when the diva sang, Kassy knew she wanted to be just like that. Something deep within warmed her heart, her mouth opened, and she began to sing.

The crowd was doubtless not going to understand old Atlantean. But it was close enough to Latin that they would probably just think it a human language. The music swelled and rose with Kassy’s voice, as she gestured and sang sweetly.

About a minute passed, and Kass’s voice slipped nearly into silence.

It was funny, what you learned from others. As soon as Zach and Ja had explained to her the concept of a “remix”, she knew she wanted to try it.

The music corresponded with a burst of light, and the beat picked up. Kassy began to weave and dance in the water. Nothing too extra. A few spins and then she was back on the beat, her voice like no classical opera ever performed. She twirled, she rose, she belted. The people at the lights matched her, putting on a dazzling show. Her voice spilled forth from the bottom of her soul.

With a flourish, the song ended. There was the briefest moment of silence as the lights were brought back up.

And then the crowd started cheering uproariously. Kassy opened her eyes to see the arena on it’s feet, clapping and cheering. For her – her! She grinned until her face hurt and bowed, as they wheeled off the tank with her still inside.

I am stuck on what to post. Got 3 sentences in and hit writer's block.

Tiny and the Terminator [Mistress Dizzy & Shifter_Master]

Jinny nodded a bit at Mikron’s explanation of his technology. She understood most of the words, but not what they meant when used together. But she sure wasn’t going to mention that. Feeling dumb was deeply unpleasant for her, something she tried to avoid. But to his question about flight, she answered truthfully.

“Well, I can fly.” She said with some pride. The part about not being able to get particularly high was left out. “I just think it’d be nice to have a backup if I can’t or don’t want to use my powers.” She jerked a thumb at Slade. “He says to always have a con- con…” Why did her uncle have to use large words she could not spell. “Contingency plan. Meaning the jetpack is plan B.”

“I’ve built a few things myself. Some small closed loop robots. Drop delivery coin sorters, homebrewed Gantry motosweep with a built in harness. Function over form, nothing pretty like your kit. My favorite one helps me organize.”

She had help with those, because she was not yet old or large enough to operate the proper tools. (Finding a welding kit for children had proven moot, even on the internet.) But the design work and blueprints had been all from her own mind, and she was deeply proud of that. None of the kids at regular school would tolerate her talking about robots for very long, but she felt like this boy might listen. Even if he was older, he was firmly in the ‘very cool’ category so far.

She also didn’t miss the fact that neither she nor Slade was getting stared at in awe or in fear. That was a deep relief, as she was very much over being stared at like she had two heads.

“If they let me in the mechanics class, I hope I see you there.” There was a happy smile on her face now. She seemed to have relaxed completely from her earlier ordeal.

Origami strode through the jungle, glad she always kept a pair of sturdy boots in her work kit. She took pictures of the trashed Badniks with a small miniature camera. She was no engineer, but she had a few smart folk on standby for occasions like this. They’d love to get an up close look.

Her ears perked up as she noticed the sounds of combat not far off. It was time to get her hands dirty, it seemed. Pulling her beautiful sword from her back and a thick sheaf of paper from the trusty bag at her back, she sped toward it, something in her heart eager for battle. Just what was she going to find? Or rather, who?
