if you have a "craving", write a story on your own, that way when you inevitably lose interest and quit you're only wasting your own time

HI HELLO SORRY IVE BEEN DROWNING IN WORK

stupid CAD programs never let me do what I want I swear to god

Anyways, Atrophy has about summed it up: At this point, we unfortunately don't have a ton of options for introducing characters. We're all on a boat together in the middle of nowhere having just survived a crazy tiger monkey thing. Anyone who's in the story at this point kind of needs to be on the boat.

That being said, what I could do is create a few NPCs and sort of work your character in separately, and put them on a collision course with our crew. So you wouldn't meet them right away, but I'd have some nifty NPCs to keep you company in the meantime, like Conway for BoatSquadtm

There is some precedent for this: by that I mean that the Devil Divers (who are kind of like this world's Moon-walkers in terms of legendary-ness), have been missing for 100 years: whos to say they couldn't have found a small island and settled down, and maybe had some kids. If you did like this idea, if would give you a good discourse with our very own Constance, who claims to be of Devil Diver descent herself (allegedly).

Secondly, just because there isn't any known inhabited islands out there, doesn't mean there aren't any, period. We could easily work in a character born and raised outside of the Ring of Thunder. The issue there would be that there would likely be a language barrier. I could allowed this to just go unchallenged, but tbh in my worlds I like to keep things as realistic as I can (An example being I spent like 2 hours researching cameras to determine if Edward could even carry a portable camera with him in the time period we're in...then I said fuck it and did it anyway).

[EDIT]: A stowaway to another expedition would also work, and I could actually modify my planned storyline a bit to make that a kind of a big thing. But again, you wouldn't be able to join up with the rest of the crew right away.

Either way, @Vicier if you could go to the OOC post for this RP and read through all the lore, I think you'd have a better idea of how to make a character who might fit. It's a bit of a read, granted, but I'm going to have to insist on it at this point, since we're decently far in to this RP.

but seriously I wouldn't mind another character

also to everyone, I'm thinking about making some shorter posts just because it's really hard to have characters talk to each other in long posts. thoughts? It would still be high quality stuff I promise, but while we're all talking we might just want to make it a bit easier
@Caits
boop
Liking that story lol, it's a good piece of infomation
Not sure, to be honest.

I'll see about devoting some time this weekend to making a character sheet and see if it fits.
this is often described here, but it does irritate me when people message me specifically mentioning interest, and then never reply ever

like okay people i get it you get distracted and shit but its a little disheartening to feel like the RP you work so hard on isn't even worth a polite decline
It took a little while, but we are a go. Time for some backstory maybe?

I've also edited the title to be open to newcomers: maybe someone will swing by. Until then, I'm fine to keep going with the three of us: I still have some stuff planned as well
With a start, Edward realized that Constance had been silent until just moments ago. That was new: she generally wasn't one for silence. Although after the rough and tumble she'd experienced, Ed wasn't really surprised she had taken a moment to be introspective. He had gleaned a bit about who she was before the expedition, and it hadn't been a very flattering picture. A socialite who expected a lovely stroll across the world, discovering untapped riches and excitement.

Instead, she had found exhaustion, legitimate danger, and several near-death experiences. It was enough to put someone off their game, at the very least. Actually, stopping to think about it, Ed realized that out of all of them, Constance had been the one to go through the most. She'd been tossed around with the rest of them in the storms, forced to fight fires and lighting, and she had also been mauled by a giant cat beast. The rest of them had dodged that last unfortunate event.

"I would love an exciting story, if you have one of those. Happy or sad isn't as important to selling the paper, after all." He winced at the words, but it was true: selling the paper was the most important thing in the business world he was a part of. There was no profits without sales, et cetera et cetera. "But I think after the stress we've been under, a happy story might be nice."

"Armas! Krauss!" The voice over the PA system made him jump. "Get ta tha hanger! It's time for tha daily!" Conway was likely referring to the daily check of their helicopter-device's systems and structure. Ed had listened to them discuss it before, and it was always good to make sure things were still in place.

With a glance at each other, the two departed, leaving Ed, Luna, and Constance alone together on the deck. Ed tapped his pen idly against his thigh while he waited. "I'm open to something from you as well, Luna, if you like. All of us need a nice story, eh?"
I'll add it to my to do list for tomorrow. Got a lot to do, but this is definitely something that's worth the time
@Mercenary LordI can't say I'm quite sure on what we should do, actually. Part of me would be willing to give it a shot if @Caits is up for it, but part of me also thinks that maybe we should just close shop since so many of our players have gone AWOL.

I'm happy to keep going as well, and I can understand the urge to shut it down. That being sad, since this rp has been so relaxed for so long, I'm happy to keep going with just the three of us. If anyone else shows up, that's fine too, I just enjoy the characters we have

Plus, with less characters, we can focus on more interaction. I can figure out some way to shoehorn us all together for more shenanigans
Not sure if I'll have time for this tbh, but if I made the commitment, I imagine he would just be a fiendishly witty man on the streets of...(say King's Landing) who is currently in the process of amassing power for himself in a slow, inexorable way

maybe kind of like a hash of Varys, Pycelle, and the high sparrow, who knows?

(also i write a lot more precisely in character, I just am a lazy bastard in ooc)
