Personal Style: Edgard is admittedly a fan of the opulent attire of the French court. He wants to stand out, having his prestige on display for all to see. However, he is willing to tone down the clothing made of fine silk, detailed embroidery, and encrusted with precious metals for the sake of practically. After all, he doesn’t want mere peasants to tarnish his finery. While on the job, he will be found wearing a black vest and a deep red, long-sleeved overcoat paired with gray trousers, sturdy black boots, and his black tricorn hat. Additionally, he wears a signet ring, which bears a dragon as his coat of arms, on the ring finger of his left hand, facing towards the palm to signify he is betrothed. As far as his hair goes, he is not a big fan of the powdered white wig trend going on, so he ditches the wig entirely and goes all natural. He maintains some facial hair but keeps it groomed so it doesn’t get too long and unkempt.

Family History: How did the Pyrbeest family get to where they are today? Through blood and fire. Edgard is a nobleman by birth and assumed the title of baron as a result of his lineage. The Pyrbeest family has long since been members of what is known as the
Nobles of the Sword, the oldest class of nobility in France, dating as far back as the Middle Ages. It descended from the knightly class, whom owed military service to the crown and in return gained possession of feudal land. The Pyrbeests of today is still possession of land, known as a
barony, with their fairly large estate located in Lyon, France. The family is just as if not more ruthless than their descendants in medieval France. And it should not be surprising that in more recent generations the family joined La Fraternité du Sang, an organized crime syndicate. The family’s ruthlessness, title, and subsequent wealth has helped them climb the ranks of the organization.
Behind Your Name: Edgard is a French variant of the Old English name
Edgar. His given name roughly means
fortunate and powerful. His middle name Guerrier is the French word for
warrior. His full name is truly befitting and provides a glimpse of who he is, his walk in life, and the social standing of the Pyrbeest family as a whole.
History: Edgard was a terror of a child since birth, earning himself the nickname
Le Destructeur (The Destroyer) at a young age. Living a privileged life as an only child with servants to grant his every whim and lots of space to cause trouble in certainly did not help matters. Such luxury only fueled his ego, and if he suddenly did not get what he wanted, he would lash out. Being exposed to the violence and bloodthirstiness of his family ultimately warped what was once a child's innocence into something incurably toxic. Nothing could stifle the ruthlessness that was in his blood, and nothing and no one would prevent the monster of a man that was to come.
He pushed his caretakers' boundaries to the limit. With a long standing fascination of fire, easy assess to weapons, and a violent temper, he was a menace in every sense of the word. He stole stuff, destroyed stuff, played with knives, played with fire, and manipulated people. Servants would always have to stay on their toes, as they were prime targets. After all, they were dispensable assets, so he could do whatever he wanted to them without any real consequences on his part. And oh how he grew to love the terror on their faces as they scrambled to prevent him from killing someone or setting the whole place ablaze.
As he grew older, his parents only helped him to hone that raw aggression, turning into something more "productive." They molded him into a true criminal, a true Pyrbeest. But even to Pyrbeest standards he was always extreme. When his training began for La Fraternité du Sang, he was an eager participant. He drank it all in and yet always wanted to be three steps ahead. He took a particular interest in the art of manipulation and torture. He had no qualms with causing pain and suffering. In fact, he reveled in it. The more pain he caused and destruction he left in his wake, the more powerful he felt.
His unflinching bravery and ruthlessness, acquired skillset, and family's wealth and social standing made him a significant asset to La Fraternité du Sang. He quickly caught the eye of the Riviere family, the leaders of La Fraternité du Sang. His parents managed to score an arranged marriage between Edgard and the eldest Riviere daughter, Alisanne. Honestly, Edgard wasn't thrilled about it as he wasn't a man to be tied down. However, once he begrudgingly got to know Alisanne, he quickly fell in love with her. The woman had an exceedingly ruthless nature that could match his own.
How did Edgard end up on Édouard's ship of all places? Well, let's just say that the future Baroness of Blood and Fire was in need of someone with his particular skillsets to handle a little pest that stood in her path to power. Considering he would benefit from this deal as her husband, he was more than happy to oblige.
