The Wayfarer's Guild

I took some inspiration from a 1e DnD character I ran a few years ago as well as the 5e spell-list. Let me know if you'd like me to re-work or remove any of the spells to be more cohesive with this setting. ^_^

Stone Dwarf

Name: Petragar Stoneweaver

Age: 180 [Mid-20s to a human]

Race: Dwarf [Stone]

Appearance: This dark grey skinned dwarf stands sturdily at 4'1" with grey eyes so pale most believe them to have no pigment at all. Her black hair is rarely seen worn loose, kept instead woven back into four tight plaits all merging into one long braid that appears to have never been cut. A perpetual frown lingers on her dark lips as she peers out at the world beneath the ragged hem of her hooded cloak.



Equipment: Leather brigandine over dark traveling clothes. Subtle leather boots and bracers which keep her thief's tools hidden from sight. Bladed fists and two rough daggers. Belt with two pouches, one for her rations of food and the other currently empty.

History: It is said that while the humans were digging in the Northern mountains a ley line breach brought the Stone Dwarves into existence, honed from the rough stone. Over the centuries tales of their creation and existence has been twisted by the surface races as few venture far from their deep cavern homes of their own choosing.

Petragar's tale is one rarely told, nearly two centuries of hardships have hardened this Dwarf's heart. What abilities she possess she has had to learn from necessity rather than desire. Life has never been fair or easy for this out-of-place Stone Dwarf.

Born beneath the Northern mountains which separate Tyrcliff from the Hann desert. Like others of her kind she was raised in the service of the mines, working for the first half of her life with the raw stones and a heavy pick. Easily over a century old she was sold off to another kind of service, one that dragged her from the dark familiarity of the mountains to the bright surface world. It was years before she had adjusted to the glare of the light and the heat, her employers keeping her indoors for the majority of her unsavory work.

It was along the Southern curve of the High Road between Kinthe and Arskel that Petragar finally made her escape from her brutal employers, utilizing the rocky terrain to remain hidden until they had finally given up on finding her. Days later she returned to the road and eventually made it to the metropolis city. She scavenged her way through the streets of the Cliff, staving off hunger by digging through other's trash or catching rats. She would pick-pocket what she could to pay for a bath and bed at least twice a month.

Caught a few months back by the local law enforcement for petty thievery, Petragar opted service to the Wayfarer's Guild over time in prison. Her belongings, or at least those few items they could not prove had been stolen, were returned to her upon her release into the Guild's custody. The dark skinned Dwarf has kept her head down since joining the Guild and doing whatever is necessary to stay within the Guildmaster's good graces.

@Bitterblue111 yes please! I've got a rough idea for a character but would like to see more info on the races first.

Also, what options are there for combat abilities? I tend to prefer ranger or druid like builds for fantasy settings but can certainly adapt as needed.

Lilry perched on one of the large rocks that made up the boarder of her nest, the gathering of foliage and torn lengths of cloth scavaged off fallen adventurers providing the lizardfolk a modicum of comfort in the dark and damp surroundings. The darkness was all she had ever know, born and raised among the twisting tunnels of the Warrens. Not long ago there were others of her tribe to spend her time among and travel alongside, now they had all been scattered apart or outright killed by the surface races.

She had traveled deep into the caverns, or as deep as she had ever traveled before. It was difficult to know for sure just how far she had gone since the last encounter. Seeing the last two of her own travelling companions taken down a group of four pale skinned explorers, Lilry had darted away from her own impending doom. Knowledge of her route and her innate ability to mold the earthern walls around her had kept the lizardfolk from being tracked down.

With a huff of breath, she looked over what little stores she had for food. Mushrooms, cavern plants, and the last few scraps of rat-meat. She would have to go hunting again soon or travel down the two paths to the West that lead to the underground lake. Considering her options, she munched away at the remainder of her food to quiet the grumbling hunger in her gut.

Lilry is a female Lizardfolk who stands 7'4" tall with faded yellow eyes and rough olive-green scales. She wears leather scraps coarsely sewn together and travels with a crooked wooden staff adorn with odd trinkets and dried fungus/herbs.

Role: Adept The character fights with rudimentary magic and is knowledgeable in scholarly pursuits.

Biography: Born into a small tribe that traversed into the warrens several generations back, Lilry knows very little of the world beyond the dark caverns she was brought up within. She grew up listening to the tales of the Civil War, captivated with fearful respect for the great red skies set ablaze with fire that were sure to sear the scaly hides of any Lizardfolk that traveled too far from their elder's watchful eyes.

Life in the depths of the dungeon have never been easy, many of her kind have been struck down by the larger creatures deep within winding tunnels and over the last few years fewer and fewer that she knew in her youth have been relocated. Left to her own devices, Lilry draws on the innate magic of the dungeon to guide and keep her as safe as possible.

Inventory: Leather armor, warped wooden stave, and a belt lined with four different sized pouches. Hung with leather cord from the short broken branches at the top of her stave are shining stones, crystals, pieces of century-old coin and dried dungeon herbs.

So for the adept role part, I was thinking more shaman/cavern druid than the arcane if that is acceptable. If not, then I'll switch to more of a scout/ranger role.
