Polak panted heavily as his health was brought under 700 once again and the last of his MP used to stun the boss. He turned towards Karma who offered some healing but Polak shook his head and told Karma that he had no time for healing now, then chugged down a red potion. Although he actually would have liked to back off and recuperate further, that would mean him wasting time while everyone else were putting in 110% of their effort; Polak did not want to be seen slacking off. The Herald was at half health itself and with everyone focusing on it, now was the time to take out the other half of its health.

With no MP left Polak, had no other options and continued his attack. Still wary on Lycan's Howl, he thought it would be good to try to prevent it from being cast, so Polak took his spear and stabbed the werewolf under its jaw. But he didn't stop there, he continued pushing the spear with every ounce of his strength and tried to push the werewolf's head up and back; and with one leg being grappled by a stalwart paladin and the other being struck at twice by an angry mace-wielding marauder, Polak intended to push the Herald down on its back.

Summary
Use Red Potion for 350 HP
Stab under the Herald's jaw and use the spear to push it down

Despite taking careful measure of keeping an eye on Fenrir's Herald, Polak did not expect the big werewolf itself to snarl an apparent disdain for magic and was caught off guard when it suddenly turned its gaze on him. Regardless of the three other party members occupying it, it simply swiped at them and went straight for Polak. The wolf threw a forceful punch that knocked Polak over then grabbed him by the leg and sent him flying across the field.

For a boss fight, it was going pretty well, Polak thought as he laid flat on the ground. A new and enthusiastic arrival came to hasten their victory. Both guards were already below half health with one about to fall over from a stiff breeze. The Herald, although it did send him flying, barely dealt 25% of his maximum health with two attacks. But to be fair to his adversaries, the guards were probably there as fodder and the Herald had a trick up its sleeve; another phase or a new attack at a certain HP percentage. Then there's also the Lycan's Howl he was worried about; it posed great threat to some of the squishier party members and Edelweiss was already low enough to die in the next cast. Polak needed to silence the beast and prevent it from casting that infernal howl... but he couldn't do that while laid out on the floor...

'As much as I'd love to sleep now, I should get back to the fight before I get too comfortable...' a disappointed Polak thought, starting to stand back up. As he stood, he felt rejuvenated as Karma cast Healing Beam on him. "Are you okay?" the concerned healer asked. "Better now, thanks." Polak gave a thumbs up towards Karma and then turned towards the battle. Although every bit of extra damage counted and Edelweiss had 100 MP left, he did not want to gamble and cast Unsummon on Edelweiss. Err on the side of caution, as the saying goes.

With his pet safe and sound, Polak ran back to battle as soon as possible. He thought that the ladies were already doing a great job bullying the half-dead Wolfkin Guard and so focused his attention on the main course: Fenrir's Herald. He started observing the beast, looking for attack cues, weaknesses, and the like. Then not forgetting about Lycan's Howl, Polak prepared to use Charge on the Herald at a moment's notice if it looked like it was going to howl.

Summary
Lie down for a bit
Unsummon Edelweiss [-50MP/-50HP]
Run towards Fenrir's Herald
Observe Fenrir's Herald further
Use Charge right before it casts Lycan's Howl

As the party continued to traverse the dungeon, Polak found it harder and harder to keep himself from nodding off. Although there were a few close calls and annoying encounters, the idea of relaxing after a day like this has excited him more than anything else. To rest back at an inn, take a hot bath, and eat a nice meal after this thrilled him. This prospect made him press on with slightly more vigor than, at least enough to prevent him from making mistakes due to his exhaustion.

After more walking, they encountered the boss room. Before entering, Polak decided to take the time to prepare and use Meditate to recover some of his depleted MP and then was healed by Karma's spell. With the preparations done, Polak followed the party as they entered the boss room. Upon entering, they were met by three talking werewolves, and without any time to think, was immediately followed by the most imposing one letting out an ear shattering howl that certainly woke Polak to full attention. He grimaced as he saw everyone's HP drop by 200, a dangerous spell he thought he should keep track of.

Reylan not wasting any time gave out orders to engage and Polak followed. He reached out his left arm out and casted Finger Lightning on the Wolfkin Guard to the left then followed up with the usual Charge. Wary of Edelweiss' health, he ordered Edelweiss to do a hit and run attack on the Wolfkin Guard while it was stunned.

Summary
Meditate for 200 MP
Karma Heal for 300 HP
~In Combat - all targeted on Wolfkin Guard 1
Keep Track of Fenrir's Herald cooldown for Lycan's Howl
Finger Lightning [-50MP/-50HP]
Charge [-50 MP]
Edelweiss attack then retreat

After the small inconvenience with Paralyze and greeting the new member of the party, Polak followed the split main group into the next area. Although it seemed like Reylan expected and hoped that there would be treasure left, they were instead met by 3 wolves; different from the ones before, they had an unsettling air to them. In fact, they had such an eerie vibe to them that despite being a lower level than the White Wolf, their appearance made Polak feel a slight chill down his spine. Phantom Wolves, they were called. Being the inquisitive person he is, his fear was quickly replaced as his mind raced at the thought of these new adversaries' abilities. As ethereal beings, they must have physical resistance and/or the ability to bypass physical armor? To what degrees, he did not know, but he was sure they would be an extremely annoying enemy to fight as a physical fighter. He also thought that because of the difference he felt with the White Wolf and these Phantom Wolves, the fear he felt was from a passive ability the wolves possessed.

Although he continued investigating the wolves with his thoughts, it was short-lived as Aster charged in and Reylan soon called out orders for everyone to engage each wolf. In this moment, he was extremely disappointed in himself for not buying another wooden totem; he would have liked finishing this encounter without suffering too much damage and getting a new monster in the process. So Polak sighed and proceeded to use Charge on Phantom Wolf 2, jabbed it once with his spear, and then whistled for Edelweiss to ram it.

Summary
Charge on Phantom Wolf 2[-50 MP]
Spear jab on Phantom Wolf 2
Ram on Phantom Wolf 2 [Edelweiss]

Hearing Reylan's order, Polak took a quick stab at the wolf in front of him, draining its already low health to 0. With the wolf dealt with, he whistled to recall Edelweiss back to him and looked around; specifically at Paralyze's position. He watched as Paralyze beat the remaining wolves with unnecessary and reckless brutality while some of his other comrades watched as well, but with clear distrust and concern. Although he had seen this happen only once or twice before, Polak had made no attempts in calming Paralyze down before; he simply thought Paralyze had an anger management problem and this was a way to release it. However, he obviously knew his allies thought otherwise and something needed to change, lest there be a dispute or argument later. 'If he continues like this, he'll be seen as a liability to the guild... more importantly, it might be fine against these low-level mobs, but he might get himself or someone else killed acting recklessly.'

Polak looked around once more and saw that no one had any intention of calming Paralyze down, satisfied with watching Paralyze like a rabid animal. Although somewhat disappointed, he could understand that it would be hard to approach Paralyze now. So he closed his eyes and exhaled to calm down, "Hooh..." He opened his eyes and looked to Paralyze's direction. Calm and with a friendly smile, Polak walked over to Paralyze and slapped his hand on Paralyze's shoulder; not too hard, but enough to catch Paralyze's attention. "Hey Paralyze, I know your passionate and all, but you need to calm down." Polak said it bluntly, but didn't think it was enough to calm Paralyze down, so he leaned his head in closer and whispered to Paralyze in a slightly colder voice, "Seriously though, look behind you, some people are being unnerved by what you're doing... I'm fine with it, but I'm not everyone else, so maybe try toning it down or do this when you're alone?"

Polak raised his shield in front of him, spear leaning on the right side, as wolves crept to engage the party. Under the order of Reylan, Polak approached the two wolves along side Paralyze. Paralyze went in first, tackling Wolf 5 then shouting to Polak to deal with the other wolf. "Loud and clear!" Polak pointed his finger at Wolf 6 and casted Finger Lightning, then recasted it at Wolf 5 with Energize's effect. With his movement speed boosted, he quickly closed the gap between him and Wolf 6 then used Charge, ramming the pitiable thing with his shield.

While the wolf was stunned, Polak took the chance and summoned Edelweiss. He whistled to catch Edelweiss' attention and waved his spear in front of Edelweiss, then he whistled again at a higher pitch and pointed his spear at the White Wolf pulled in by Alisea and currently mounted by Chari. Edelweiss reared and neighed, using Shocking Charge on the White Wolf. With Edelweiss helping out the backline, Polak turned his attention back to the wolf, preparing to attack it.

Summary
Finger Lightning on Wolf 6 [-50MP -50HP]
Finger Lightning on Wolf 5 [Energize-Free Cast]
Charge on Wolf 6 [-50MP]
Summon Edelweiss [-50MP -50HP]
Fearsome Charge on White Wolf [-100MP~Edelweiss]

Polak thanked Paralyze for pulling a chair for him and sat down. Before he could say anything, the woman introduced herself as Alisea and hugged Reylan's arm quite affectionately. Although Reylan gave a shy response about it, Polak naturally thought they were in a relationship considering the scene. However, he quickly dismissed these assumptions; he had no business prying into their private lives and thought it was pointless to assume things. Just then, another woman approached the table, a companion to Reylan and Alisea.

Polak continued listening to the conversation when Reylan proudly revealed the name of the guild, Legion of the Wolf. He looked down and closed his eyes with his arms crossed, smiling at the name and thought it was fitting for the journeys ahead. Wolves symbolized courageousness and a great reward after a long and arduous siege, and after courageously persevering through Malgoth's kingdom, what better reward is there than freedom? Polak was deep in his thoughts until he was interrupted by a sudden pinging noise: a PM from Paralyze. He quickly signed the paper and opened his menu to read the PM.

"After this is done, I think we should go to their rooms and knock to see what happen. I have not seen both of them since yesterday. Maybe we should check them out to ensure everything is still good. And besides, Fortuna probably want to hear how to gain more Renn.”

Polak hadn't thought about visiting them, they could take care of themselves. Still, Polak was slightly worried; they haven't contacted him, and by the sound of it, they haven't contacted Paralyze either. Polak typed in a message and sent a reply to Paralyze.

"Sure. And you've got me a bit worried too, I haven't seen them and neither have sent me a message."

After a few hours passed, Polak woke up to see that it was already dark. He stood up and stretched while yawning. Opening up the menu, he saw a PM sent by Reylan that said to gather at the inn tonight. Before exiting his room, Polak took a second to run his fingers down the disheveled, unkempt hair on the back of his head and pressed his hair down with his palm in an attempt to fix it. He went down to the first floor and saw Paralyze, Reylan, and a woman he hadn't met yet. Polak waved towards the group and walked over to them with a smile. "I guess I don't have to introduce Paralyze?"

Day 4, 5:30 AM

Polak opened his eyes and felt that his attempts to sleeping any more was futile; he hadn't been this plagued by insomnia in a while but he would just have to deal with it. Tired and somewhat irritated, he stood up from his bed and quickly stretched before he exited the room. He quietly stepped out of the inn, wary of waking others up. He had been planning on finishing Petar the Blacksmith's quest he accepted yesterday morning but had no time, and with nothing to do, he thought it was a good time as any to do it and it would help him improve his mood. He walked over to the nearest gate and wandered outside, chopping down trees and hunting down boars he could find.

9:00 AM, Nearby Genesis City

After collecting enough wood and pork to turn in for the quest and his own use, Polak decided to take a break. He looked around and saw the disks floating in the sky; he walked to the closest one and climbed to the top. He sat down close to the edge, legs out with his arms behind him supporting his back. While he gazed at the beautiful and amazing scenery, he felt as if he had forgotten something, and after some thinking, he remembered; 'Ah, Reylan...' Polak scrambled with the menu and typed up a message, "I'd be happy to join your guild! I still need to talk to my other party member though and I'm outside the city... he's staying in the same inn, so maybe you might find him? His name is Paralyze." After sending his message, he still remained seated, enamored by the view. He continued sitting for a few more minutes until he decided it was time to get back to Genesis City.

Although Polak could probably find an inn just by looking at his map, he settled on wandering around until he came across one and thought it was time to reflect the past few days. He thought it was a good idea to think about and settle his emotions, particularly about the death of his comrade, TrueLove, which made him decide to seriously prepare himself. But that reason felt a bit selfish and stupid to Polak, that it took someone's death to remind him that his life was on the line in this place. However, he did not feel too bad about it. He felt cruel waving off someone's death like nothing, but he had only met TrueLove yesterday, after all. He continued to think about his contradicting emotions until he found an inn. Some food, drink, and a good night's rest might help him clear his mind.

Polak entered the inn and looked around, spotting a familiar face, Fortuna. He walked to a stool beside her and sat down. He raised his hand toward the innkeeper and asked politely, "Shepard's Pie, a mug of beer, and a room for tonight." After ordering, he looked at Fortuna and saw she looked down. "Something wrong? Wanna talk about it?" He felt awkward asking Fortuna that question, being that they were still strangers to each other, but it didn't hurt to try to cheer her up. Still, he thought he was prying too much and added, "ah, of course, you don't have to if it's uncomfortable for you."
