Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

Well, is it worth it? Did you get it for anything in particular?
Geez, you could heat your room with it on cold nights.
All good, then.
I mean, Sabine could do it, I guess? I won't pretend it'll be easy. Depends, would you like me to edit my post? I don't mind either way.
Well, I can retcon Gallus' assistance if you like, but I'm not sure if Sabine would have the willpower left to amputate Peiter's arm.
Welp, this has gone tits up.

Also, you're up early!
Peiter's screams gave everyone pause to look back. For most, being torn between helping Peiter and defending Meesei was evidently one that gave them visible anguish, but the threat of the enemy soldiers was too immediate. They formed up as Lorag commanded, except for Gallus, Uthri, and -- of course -- Sabine.

"No!" The most immediate reaction, as with seeing Meesei, was Sabine's terrified scream. She sprinted back for Peiter, throwing her hands against the massive block of stone and scraping her feet through the dirt while trying to push in vain. "No, no, no, no!" She was gritting her teeth and scrunching her tear-streaming eyes shut while she continued to push. She shouted in an increasing intensity until emptying her lungs in one more scream, "NOOOO!"

This marked Sabine finally reaching the threshold of her emotional control. She transformed into the smaller-than-average werewolf form that she had, towering over everyone still. She pushed against the block and growled, occasionally letting out yelping barks of fear and futile defiance.

Meanwhile, Uthri was paralysed with the sight of it, simply staring with a terrified look at Peiter. Perhaps most fortunately, Gallus was still in the mindset of command, too focussed to fall to grief in that moment. He widely stepped to Uthri and swiped the hatchet from her belt before striding sternly over to Peiter.

Uthri seemed to snap out of her frozen state at that moment. She looked with startled glances at Gallus and began to reach out for him. "Wait. Gallus, don't!"

"Go defend the champion!" Gallus whirled around and pointed the hatchet towards the small formation. He then gave no hesitation to resuming his advance towards Peiter.

Uthri turned to face the enemy, knowing immediately that it would not be as bad as what was going to transpire behind her.

When Gallus reached Peiter, he neither said a word nor made eye contact with his stony face. He merely pinned Peiter's upper body against the ground with one foot, raised Uthri's still very sharp hatchet, and brought it down on Peiter's arm with all his strength. This freed Peiter, for an obvious price. To make sure that he didn't bleed to death, Gallus pulled out the strongest healing potion he had on his belt and was about to open it, were it not that he was interrupted.

A flash of a large furred arm ran into Gallus' leaned-over chest. He then felt the impact, sending him flying backwards several feet. He landed with a slide on the dirt, coughing and winded. He lifted his head to see Sabine baring her teeth. She snarled and snorted at the creature that had just attacked her mate, holding her claws threateningly either side of her. It looked like the punch had caused Gallus to drop the healing potion within Peiter's reach, if he had the sense left through his pain to use it.
Yes, in those good old days...

Before the dark times.

Before...the memepire.
...but I guess the portfolio of machinery is not really fitting for the domain of Waifu.

...Pardon me?

I hasten to correct you! There are plenty of waifus that fall under the portfolio of machinery! Just look at those warship girls. Here, I'll look for even more examples, I'm sure they're out there!

...

...Ahem. Uh...

These count, right? I even turned safesearch on (not that it did much in the end).
Onward the reunited packs ran through the collapsing keep. Sabine tried to reach up desperately to heal Meesei some more, but her lack of focus made her stumble over her feet. Lorag wasn't slowing down for her at all. Janius caught up with Sabine and grabbed her arm to keep her from falling over. "Just keep running, Sabine!"

Sabine tried to protest in an upset voice, "But she is-"

"It'll do no good if none of us are out of this keep! Now go!" Janius shouted, not slowing down their pace.

Sabine fear became reinforced in her features as she kept running.

Partway through their escape, Gallus sprinted ahead and beckoned them to a passageway that the enemy soldiers had taken. "This way! The defenders would have a quicker way out!"

The decision to go through the side passage would be a split-second one by Lorag. Gallus would not protest either way.
