Dear Mr Curly,
I have done little travelling lately because I have been so dreadfully weary. Can it be true as the old Ecclesiastes said; that all things lead to weariness? Surely not. Perhaps the opposite is true: that all nothings lead to weariness. I have a peculiar feeling, Curly, that I am worn out from something I haven't yet done and the more I don't do it, the more exhausted I become. How strange. Could it be something I haven't realised? Perhaps it's something I haven't said? Something I haven't finished! It must be very large and true whatever it is and a lively struggle in the doing but I look forward to it immensely. I know I need it. First, however, I must curl up in my chair and sleep deeply with the duck. Perhaps I'll dream of this thing and wake up refreshed and do it. My fond wishes to you Mr. Curly, and to all Curly Flat.
Yours sleepily,
Vasco Pyjama

P.S. Not having breakfast can make you weary. That's for sure!

Once the time to eat had been announced, Janius turned and knelt to face Kaj-Julan with the same proud smile he had before. "Congratulations...Kaj-Julan. It is wonderful to watch you grow." Janius gently pulled him into a hug. "I'm sure you will be and ample benefit to everyone. You're a big-hearted boy, you know that?" Janius moved Kaj-Julan away and held him by the shoulders. His smile evened and he looked into Kaj-Julan's eyes curiously. "Did you see or hear anything interesting when you tasted the sap?"

The group began to shuffle and murmur as the pack helped hand out food and drink.

Ri'vashi's movement caught Gallus' eye. He spun on a heel to watch her until it was clear that she was pacing away in a rush. To that, he unclasped his hands and jogged to catch up. "Hey, you aren't staying to eat?"

By that point, she had obscured herself from the eyes of the crowd. Gallus briskly walked whether she answered or not. Once they were both out of sight and stopped, Gallus gave Ri'vashi a concerned look, craning his neck. "Are you alright, Ri'vashi?" He asked with no trace of teasing.
Gallus nodded and looked ahead. "As you wish," he said casually. He remained by Ri'vashi's side and kept his attention on the ceremony. We was mildly worried but chose not to show it.

The ceremony was a curious sight for the onlookers. It was not filled with chanting and incense, or long prayers, or sacrifices to gods that some might have expected. It was merely Newt's reaction to the sap. It was odd, even worrying at points. However, Newt seemed neither in pain or particularly distressed.

After Kaleeth giving the name, some clapping was started by an Argonian parent present, which then spread to the rest of the group.

Janius couldn't help but show his teeth at Kaleeth's happiness. But he reminded Kaleeth with a hand on her shoulder. "Tell everyone what that translates to. We can show everyone why our son has such a name."
The group was quite as they watched the ceremony progress. The children were sitting on the ground in a group while the adults stood behind them. Janius stood by Kaleeth with a proud smile.

"Oh, okay," Gallus replied to Ri'vashi tersely, as if her clearly nervous state was nothing. He turned his eyes to look at the ceremony, but did not walk away just yet.

A few minutes into the ceremony -- likely near the end with how brief it was meant to be -- Gallus leaned to one side and murmured to Ri'vashi in an effort not to disturb everyone else. "Tell me to drop it if you like, but you're worse at hiding your discomfort than my boys are."
Bloody hell.
Hi Vec. Thanks for the feedback!

Probably shouldn't try reading this unless you can take some really slow moments and our writing skills two years ago.

Elite, Vec is a player from the other RP I'm in right now. Say hi.
"So, it makes you grow up?" Rhazii asked. His eyes lit up. "Can I have some?"

"Oh no you don't, little one." Fendros took Rhazii's hand as the procession moved on towards the mushroom forest. "Hist sap is only for Argonians, it'll make you sick and give you bad dreams unless someone like Meesei says its okay," Fendros explained. "Not to mention, it is very hard to find outside of Black Marsh, and that is a long way away."

"Aw," Rhazii's ears drooped in disappointment.

"Don't feel too bad. Just a few years and-" Fendros lifted a flat hand up while blowing a raspberry, eliciting laughter from Rhazii and some of the other children. "-you'll both probably be taller than me."

Near the back of the walking group, Ri'vashi's reluctance did not escape some eyes. Given her rank and prestige in the clan, it fell to Gallus to go and talk to her, but not before Uthri suggested that he do so. Gallus was unsure whether or not Ri'vashi was simply keeping to herself. Nevertheless, he approached her by slowing his pace until he fell behind as well.

Gallus reached Ri'vashi by the time the group stopped at the clearing. He had his hands behind his back and was giving a curious look, half-smiling. "Tired this morning? You don't seem too mingly today."
Uthri tilted her head to one side in surprise. "No birthdays? Well, if this is not done in your village, perhaps having one big day makes up for it?" Uthri turned around to Newt, just as Rhazii had climbed down from Fendros' back and joined him. "Newt is lucky that he gets both," Uthri laughed.

Janius was the first to address Ri'vashi when she arrived. He gave her a nod and a smile. "I'm glad you could join us, general Ri'vashi."

The title caused an initially distracted Gallus to turn around and grin. "Good morning!" He raised a hand in greeting to Ri'vashi.

Newt was, of course, surrounded by the gaggle of friends that were invited to the ceremony, but Rhazii eventually caught his attention. He had only just learned the nature of the naming day and had his ears perked with excitement. "What name are you going to get, Newt?" Rhazii asked.
Hmm, I can't say for sure. I suppose he would inherit Kaleeth's scale colour. It was a bright green, right? Not sure what else would make sense at this stage. I guess it's just matter of picking his other features. Eyes, facial shape, whether he's got any other scale patterns. Any feathers, horns, find, etc would probably grow after his naming ceremony.
I think I read that they only take on their distinctive features after they take the sap, so he probably wasn't too distinct beforehand.
Two years of living in an underground city, earmarked by the occasional mission, did not assist in the security of the pack's life. However, it did galvanise them. Each time they went out, they came back improved, until all of them were capable units in the field. That was, of course, excepting the children.

Only one mission had Rhazii and Newt tag along with the pack in that two years. That was only because it was something of a trade and negotiation mission with another clan -- nothing to do with attacking Vile's forces. With every other time leaving them in the hands of guardians within the clan, they even started to get used to their parents' being away for portions of time. It made their bond as brothers more secure than ever, especially with Newt growing to understand more of the world around him.

Even with the children being separated from their parents so often, the greatest tumult in the pack was suffered by Sabine. She was under the most consistent stress in trying to find an antidote for the soul tearing gas. Marcaille found the synergy she shared with Ariel to be quite extraordinary after a while. It began to seem as if they communicated through telepathy with how closely and efficiently they worked. Even a novice alchemist could deduce that either of them working alone could not have done half the amount of research that they pulled off within the year of Ariel's stay. Even so, the weight of responsibility was heavy on Sabine, causing her to require support from Ariel and Meesei on more than a few occasions. The closure in finding the cure was one that all the clan knew when they saw Sabine darting through the streets of the Silent City. She even burst through the door into an ongoing council meeting to announce it.

Though, the cure was bittersweet, not just for its drawbacks, but because it was found close to the end of Ariel's stay. They improved it with the time they had left, taking as much time in one another's company as they could before they said their farewells once again. It was not quite as emotional as the first time the pack left Ariel in Thorn, but there was no shortage of grief. Even Rukeewei got an emotional farewell. He couldn't escape forging an attachment with the rest of the pack over the year of his stay. In the end, Ariel promised the pack once again that they were always welcome to visit. Sabine promised that she would visit after the war, no matter what.

Once the cure was finished, Sabine had some time to pursue her previous training more closely. With Meesei's instruction and the missions the pack undertook, she advanced from an accomplished mage to an impressive one. Meesei's magic was still superior, if only because of extra experience, coupled with what she had studied from the Black Book. However, Sabine could how cast a spell to summon a whirlwind of deadly freezing air around herself, her warding had made her a stubborn magical duellist, and she was now skilled enough in restoration that she could actively assist and participate in Meesei's self-treatment in removing the trace silver from her heart.

Janius smiled in turn, bringing his arm around Kaleeth's waist. Upon her insistence, he was dressed in traditional garb as well, sans a tail hole. Janius played along, as he knew next to nothing about the ceremony without Kaleeth telling him. Although, he was able to assist Kaleeth's worries before by reminding her that their pack alpha used to be a tree minder herself. Kaleeth and Meesei were able to assemble the ceremony with much greater authenticity together.

"It is amazing," Janius said. "I won't pretend that it has been all easy. But...it's still a vivid memory, seeing him hardly bigger than my arms. I'm proud of Newt. Hmph, might not be calling him Newt after today." In a moment of pedantic anxiety, Janius looked to Kaleeth directly. "You have the sap? Is everything ready?"

The rest of the pack were all there. Fendros stood next to Ahnasha, piggybacking Rhazii, despite the young Khajiit being markedly larger than most children his age.

"Dada? Why does Newt get a special party for his birthday this year?" Rhazii asked.

"Well, little one, Argonians have a special birthday once when they're children," Fendros explained. "It's special because it's when they get their names."

"But Newt has a name. It's Newt."

Fendros grinned. "That's just a nickname, son. And not one he is likely to lose." Fendros threw Rhazii a fraction further up his back to readjust. "He'll get a true name today. Just like you got the name Rhazii."

Emerging from the gate was a familiar voice. "Sorry for keeping all you waiting!" Gallus lead Uthri, Peiter, and Tzirret to the pack with a characteristic grin on his face. "Oh, are we dressed appropriately?" Gallus asked as he placed a hand each on Janius and Kaleeth's shoulders. "We wouldn't miss something like this, not for friends like you."

"Congratulations, you two," Uthri mentioned with a smile. "We shall have to congratulate the boy, too. He looks so cute in those clothes!"
