"Riders halt! Jinan shouted as he flew ahead of his squad members and came to a stop before them, his dragon hovering in place with strong and steady wingbeats. With an ascertaining gaze, he studied the faces of each rider and their mount, committing them to memory whilst recalling what he knew about them.

Nimethel, felid beastkin, armed with mana and enchanted bow, skilled in stealth and cunning, rides a bonepale wyrm. Perhaps best used as a scout on the ground, but there was more. Ferosian. Criminal... perhaps best not to let this one out of sight after all.

Then there was Caelis, elf, crimson haired, studied in the arts of healing and swordsmanship both. A noble-born scion of Avalan. Rides a Moonveil forest dragon, scarred and ancient. Their combined experience would serve the Alliance well, has served already. It was a wonder why they were not leading a squad of their own.

And finally Eira, half-elf, Norsinian, blonde of hair, trained in ice magic and rider of a frost dragon. Also a mage. Also a noble.

All of a sudden, Jinan felt as though someone had played a practical joke putting him in charge of an entire squad of mages and such a motley crew at that. One from each of the three nations of the west, the Ferosian's a criminal and the other two nobles. It was like the beginnings of a bad jest. Was this some form of hazing for newly appointed squad leaders?

Shaking his head free of such thoughts, Jinan held up a hand in greeting and said, "My name is Jinan. This is Duan. We will take point as we cover the mountains to the north while another group covers the south. If we meet any riders of Kovos, do not act unless acted upon. Is that understood?"

Just a little update for everyone, I've put the rules and turn order up on the zeroth post here. So if you ever lose track, just jump to the 1st page and it'll be at the very top.

@EtherealThorn that sounds fun! I hope we get to meet your character real soon though, because it is your turn now. There's about 2 more days left from the time of this post, do you think you can make the time limit or would you like to wait until the next round of posts?

[Fae See] Starved Obsidian Necromantic System - Pyramid

"Fuck!" Bones yelped as the light pulled at his feet, doing something to him and Xune's skeletal minions. Although he could not feel any pain, it certainly looked like it would have hurt and he went reeling backwards away from the pylon as soon as he was able to. "Look but don't touch eh."

At the very least, one thing was confirmed. The pyramid saw Bones as an enemy, this in spite of its energies being responsible for his current state. It saw him as a threat.

Good.

Just as he was pondering his next step however, the elf suddenly came flying through the air like an arrow and struck one of the pylons with her blade... then all hell broke loose. Four hulking figures emerged around the pylons - none that Bones recognized for a small blessing - and slowly, inexorably, they began to advance upon the party.

"I don't think the pyramid liked that," Bones said as he drew his sword and dagger. "Must be something important. Shall we try it again?"

Ah, but I can't approach these pillars, he thought as his eyes darted around, trying to find a solution. Come on, think, think, think!

Seeing one of the gargantuan figures approaching closer, Bones attempted to move out of the way only to find another barring his path. And then, just as he was about to resign himself to making a desperate last stand, an idea struck.

"I'll draw them away!" he shouted as he ran to intercept the ones closest to Mantis. Then gesturing towards one of the pylons with his sword, "You two break these damn things! Come on ugly, over here!"

And with that, Bones made his attempt to lure the four towering constructs away from the party.

@Scrawl Banditta you're alright. Just be aware that we're all supposed to be starting at the Sunspire Mountains, so make sure Eira's there by the next round of posts. Also I'm not sure if it was intentional or not, but you seem to have repeated a few things in the first half of your post. Nothing wrong with it, just pointing it out in case you weren't aware.

@Zman ah, I forgot to tell them we were going to work around it. Good thing you've got it saved! 😅 Feel free to repost and then Bacon squad can go next.p
