Name: “Alex”

Age: 28

Gender: Female

Occupation: Restaurant Owner, though she barely goes to the restaurant herself. She mostly settles business with her phone.

Personality: Curt and straight to the point, Alex is a person with a complex way of thinking. She has a different kind of unpredictability from Yagamine in that she’s less obnoxious when calm, but much moodier when she’s angry or feeling conflicted about something. She tends to shut Yagamine up with BB guns, though when she gets angry, she would bring out a shovel. Alex loosens up with others more if she is around someone who clearly relies on her for something.

It’s very easy to annoy her- either be loud for an extensive amount of time without warning, or directly bother her when she’s trying to do something. She does not hide her anger for the most part.

She has very few things to fear about, though the one thing she never tries to show to others is her fear of being truly and utterly alone.

Background: She was physically abused as a child by her parents, and sexually abused by a group of lawyers. Eventually, Detective Yagamine Kurosaki rescued her after she sent a distress message to his agency. After finally leaving the dominant presence of her family and people she no longer trusted, she decided to live for herself as a thug. Meeting Hibiki Kate, however, distanced her from the idea of being hostile to others and sparked a strong sense of protecting others.

After growing up, she got her own job and stuck with the Landowner even before Maple 801 – 101 came to be. A few years after it was established, however, she ended up finding the detective who saved her to be in… an extremely disappointing state of mind. Now she lives with the two and considers them to be her family and hopes that anyone who gets a room in the apartment is not as atrociously obnoxious as Yagamine.

Room Number: 10. She lives together with the Landowner and functions like an older sister.

Name: Yagamine Kurosaki

Age: 29

Gender: Male

Occupation: A detective. Unfortunately, there’s literally no form of crimes happening often in the neighborhood, so he usually stays in the Maple 801 district.

Personality: An extremist to everything, Yagamine has and always will act like the world would end by tomorrow whenever he competes in something. He annoys the Landowner to an amazing extent and always ends up screaming for no reason at least once per day. Despite being a smart man, his intelligence is completely overshadowed by his freakishly infinite energy of annoying people.

He doesn’t ever mention it, but he feels happy whenever someone compliments him. He’s tolerable once a resident lives in the same apartment with him for at least one week. Roleplayers should expect everything to go downhill as soon as he enters an Episode. Be prepared to be bothered by him endlessly if you challenge him into literally any competitive, regardless of whether he even knows the subject in hand or not.

Background: Yagamine was once a boy who aspired to become a singer, but when he fell on his head, he suddenly became a genius and decided to become a detective instead. He solved hundreds of cases within minutes, quickly losing traction as he became known as an incredibly gifted man. Case by case, he solved them all with unparalleled swiftness.

But one day, he moved to a very quiet neighborhood. Time passed, and everyone forgot about him after years of not seeing him.

And somehow, he turned into what he is now during his absence.

Look at what he turned into now. He’s a freaking nutjob.

Room Number: 9, but he decided to flip the number and make it look like “6” to confuse people.

Name: “The Landowner” (Hibiki Kate)

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Occupation: The landowner of the place. She cleans the place up and doesn’t do anything to productive for the most part.

Personality: Quiet for the most part, she manages the grounds of the apartment. The Landowner hates it when people intentionally litter the place. It’s easy to find her shouting when everyone starts to ignore her, though that doesn’t help her from being overshadowed by others for the most part. It’s incredibly easy to unintentionally ignore her for some reason.

She has an odd sense of humor in finding gore funny and prefers a direct kind of humor. Those who are shy are under her mercy when she has the peculiar mood to bother some of her residents. If someone has a problem, she is surprisingly a decent person to talk with- compared to the other default resident in the apartment, that is.

Background: The Landowner wanted to become someone who flipped burgers when she was young, but when her father recommended choosing something a bit fancier for a dream job, she chose “landowner” after years of thought during high school. Here she is now.

Room Number: 10
This is still under construction!

Current Episode! "Episode 2: Labor Day!"

A large truck drops off a huge stack of boxes... almost half as tall as the apartment itself! The Landowner decides to move them by herself initially, but after Yagamine topples them all over, everything becomes a mess. She decides to ask the residents if they'd like to help just for the day...

Completed Episodes

"Episode 1: New Residents" - The introduction of the residents! This sets up everyone settling into the apartment and potentially meeting a few others. Some may go right in and lock themselves up, some might loiter around to get used to the fairly small place.

Upcoming Episodes

Episode 3: "Scrubs!" - The Landowner decides to clean the building itself! While she is cleaning the building, however, a mysterious, fishy-looking man comes in with a bunch of crap and starts littering the place.

Episode 4: "Playground!" - A fairly simple episode. A trampoline, along with a few other small goodies from a small playground kit, is set up outside the building and within the apartment's parameters. The Landowner asks a few residents if they could test it out for her.

Episode 5: "Kitten!" - A kitten separated from its owner goes into the apartment. It is Maple 801's job to take care of it while the Landowner and Alex is out. The first thing they probably have to do is to hide it from Yagamine's presence because he thinks it's a god of death that came to kill him. (The cat is a black cat, or a "kuroneko" as Yagamine would scream.)

Episode Idea Pool

Prologue

There were countries such as the United States of America, China, Russia, and so on, all of them being iron giants with a long history to them. Their history was mixed with both sweat, blood, and conflicts that eventually forged the path to the now barely attained peace between them. Specializing in certain economies have become the meta for global competition, and this has been the case for many years.

In some smaller countries, this was less prominent. Some continued to stand on their toes in the potential of conflict breaking out between each other.

And in some cities, rivalries formed among one another within the borders of a single country.

And some towns such as Maple Station did not care about anything aside from doing their own things.

The Maple Neighborhood was the name given to one of the very first residential areas in the town. Despite this, however, it had yet to be completely filled due to a lack of people demanding more residential space. There were about five thousand people in total living in the entire town, and only a portion of them lived in the neighborhood.

But the story did not focus on all of the district. Rather, it focused more on one particular housing area.

A young woman in a cat hoodie swept the dirt around her apartment. She was the landowner of the place, and also a local to the town. Some said she aspired to become a NEET at one point due to how little goals she had in life, and they weren't entirely wrong. She just happened to gain interest in being a landowner all of a sudden by the time her last year of high school came along.

So here she was, sweeping the floor of the apartment.

She swept every nook and cranny with a broom. After finishing up the outer parts of the small building, she proceeded to walk over and sweep up the building itself. Things were peaceful at the district, and the same could be said for her portion of land. Nobody made a ruckus early in such fine mornings, so it made her job easier-

”ALEX, YOU IDIOT! WHAT’RE YOU DOING?! SHOOT THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM!

”Oi, this is literally my first time playing this game. Shut up for a second!”

”SHOOOOOOOOOOT THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM!”

SHUT UP, DUMBASS!!!!!

POW!

”AghhhhhhhhhhHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH-

Hibiki Kate looked up to the skies as she stood still in front of the apartment room she lived in.

It was another fine day to wish for some peace and quiet.

The sound of digital firearms faintly boomed behind Room Number 10 as Hibiki began sweeping up the place again. When she heard the two people in her room arguing again, she instinctively moved away from the front door. She expected someone to come flying out the door at any moment soon. Alex was quick to get furious at people like Yagamine, after all.

A few seconds after she thought this, her (obvious) prophecy came true. A man was blasted out of her room’s door as he tumbled into the grass the Landowner had just cleaned up.

“Ghhkkkkkkkkkkkkkk…! Landowner!” Yagamine screamed as he tried to get up from the bushes, only to fail for some reason the Landowner could not comprehend. “Where’s my pen?! I think I can beat Alex in a writing contest!! Ha. Huh HAH huh HA HA HA!! Someone like her can't probably write, anyway-“

Yagamine screamed incoherently as he jerked his neck just in time before a BB pellet landed straight on his forehead.

Yagamine Kurosaki was the latest addition to Maple 801 – 101. Fortunately, he knew how to pay the Landowner. Unfortunately, he did not know how to behave accordingly to how much he paid. As he finally got up from his little power struggle with the bushes, a brunette woman with a tattoo on her arm emerged with a BB gun.

She also had an angry expression on her. At this point, the Landowner had gotten used to Alex trying to gun down Yagamine. She just wished Alex used less BB pellets; that always meant she had to clean up the place for a bit longer.

“You’re DEAD to me! GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!” Alex roared as she charged towards Yagamine.

“Not over my dead body!” The man screamed like a deranged psychopath as he giggled. “I’ve got a present for you!”

Reaching for the inner side of his khaki suit, Yagamine lowered his torso as he hid whatever he planned on using against Alex…

…before spreading his arms out in an embracing manner.

“It's a HUG! I BET YOU DIDN'T EXPECT TH-“

“SHUT THE F*CK UP!”

The sound of Alex’s BB gun matching its target echoed across the apartment. Thankfully, Maple 801 – 101 had a bit of a distance from other apartments, so it wouldn’t be enough to wake the neighbors up.

“AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!”

As her two friends got in yet another cat fight, the Landowner turned to her own apartment room, which had its door remaining open. She walked over and closed the thing gently before cleaning the place up again.

The days in Maple 801 – 101 were both insignificant and simple. Maybe that was the charm to being the Landowner of the place.
This RP is full! But anyone who is not a member can post in the OOC as well if they'd like to. Sorry!

Maple 801 – 101.

Long story short, it’s a particular building in a particular district that is both typical and abnormal. On one hand, it’s exactly like any other district. There are houses, along with a few apartments here and there. The only difference is that everything seems batsh*t insane if you take a closer look.

Perhaps there were reasons aside from “I had nothing to do” for those who moved into the district. Especially Maple 801 – 101, which happened to have a landowner who has no enthusiasm for anything remotely exciting due to succumbing to multiple insanities she had seen with her own eyes. This building in particular was different not from the structure, but from what contained it.

The people, that is.

Welcome to “The Maple Neighborhood!” So what is this RP about?

*There is a parking lot next to the building for characters who drive!

(The genre of this roleplay is Comedy, Slice-of-Life, and Episodic.)

It’s an RP about a small apartment, that’s what. Slice-of-life perfectly describes this roleplay, although it does have an eventual end if you ever get that far with dedication. As a roleplayer in this roleplay, you don’t have a goal aside from describing what your character does on uneventful days and, once in a while, perhaps participating in a major “episode.” This requires a surprising amount of consistent dedication, so think twice before you join.

“Episodes” are special events that will be catalogued, and can alter the friendships NPCs have with the Player Characters. From the relatively responsible landowner to the intensely psychotic-looking detective, any interaction will be reacted to differently. NPCs aren’t the only focus of the story- Player Characters live in the same building, after all, so it’s only fair that they talk to each other as well. Episodes can range from a cooking themed episode to a sports themed episode. Sometimes, episodes may cause timeskips. Talk with the GM a lot on this if you don’t want something to be interrupted.

You technically don’t need to participate in the Episodes and have your characters do their own thing, as they can be run alone even by the NPCs themselves, but hey, you can make a moment in the roleplay’s history.

Despite being fairly on the realistic side, keep in mind that as a roleplay centering around comedy, things can be described in bizarre ways. Bear with the fact that this roleplay oftentimes borrows fantasy elements in a parody-like sense. A lot of comical things happen in the RP, but characters can add in their own dose of humor, friendship moments, and even stuff like romance if they choose to focus on that at one point. The general atmosphere of the RP won't change for the most part, though!

I recommend bringing other roleplayers you know of well before you join to get you a natural headstart in the roleplay. This can also ensure that you have something to do with others, though this isn’t necessarily needed.

Posting in Maple Neighborhood

If your character is participating in an Episode, post as you normally would! If they are not participating in an Episode but you still would like to show what they are doing, post with the following at the top of the post:

(P)
(You do not need to make it colored like that! Just putting it without any special formatting is fine.)

This makes it easier for me to track down Out-of-Episode posts!

Rules

1. Do your best to make your character interesting in a way that can highlight other characters’ personalities as well.

2. Be sensible for the most part. There aren’t too many competitions here that barely matter, so this won’t be hard.

3. Talk with others and be friendly. This can get us to come up with more interesting episodes together!

4. This roleplay is fairly slow-paced in its own right, so don’t try to pressure others into posting quickly too much. Have something else to do while you wait for a post!

5. If you plan on joining, please, please, please triple check your own thoughts on this RP before joining! Leaving in-between the RP can make things troublesome, even if it's slow compared to other RPs.

Episodes

This is an episodic slice-of-life. Episodes may be long or short. They can be made by both the GM and the players themselves after having it approved on the OOC. Episodes will be listed once the RP crosses the first episode with a synopsis describing each one accordingly.

Episodes can differ in themes, such as involving cooking, sports, and maybe even an alien visit (this is a huge maybe, you all). There may be breaks between episodes where anyone can do whatever they want for a moment before the GM announces another episode.

If you want to, you can use Etherpads for the forementioned "break moments" with others for collaboration posts.

Episodes usually start with a post saying a new episode started, and also end with a post saying the episode ended. Everyone posts in-between those posts, so it'll look like a structural sandwich by the time an episode ends. (Intro -> Content Posts -> End)

If someone or some people contribute to the making of an Episode idea, then it will be posted in the "Upcoming Episodes" area with Courtesy to (usernames here) to credit them properly! If everyone discusses about a single Episode idea and makes it official, then it will have Courtesy to everyone! instead. Let's work together, guys!

Testing out more of Clip Studio's features... so here's Revy from Black Lagoon smoking :D I like the brushes available

@NarayanK

Wooooowee, are you going to have an image gallery too? I wish I've been saving all the images you've made so far.

I'll be making a downloadable set of sprites I made for those who needed them in the novel, as well as the 6 CGs. They'll all be in one .zip file. In addition to the CGs, there will also be one extra image of Sangue trying to make a hamburger to those who download the image pack or the visual novel! :D
@Crimmy@Abillioncats@Onarax@Lucius Cypher@harinezumikouken

I forgot to tag you all for showing your characters in the CG >.>;;
Another update!

CGs are almost complete! Here's two out of six of them. (I made 5 atm!)

After the CGs are made, all I need to do is update the dialogue a bit more and create a downloadable zip file for it.
