Current I might slowly be coming back to life. Getting laid off does give one more time to think about stories and such.

Bio

I'm a 30-something woman just looking to keep those writing muscles in whatever shape I can. I'm also Canadian, so fill the rest of this bio with every stereotype you can think of. I've also single, so clearly I'm a catch.

Considering the amount of aqua vitae I drank last night, I'm surprised I'm still here. But I am. Possibly working on an Indigo post to boot.
@Genkai Hey it's that time of the year. No worries here. Take all the time you need.
Pallet Town was supposed to be a sleepy town. Despite it's reputation as the starting point for Kanto league challenges, it was still very small. The Oak Laboratory dominated over the landscape from a hill, it was clear to see from the entrance from Viridian City. The windmill at the top of the observation room stood out, it's red blades spinning against the lazy blue sky. It was a picture of serenity. So how in the heck was it offset by the collision of limbs and backpacks that Erik witnessed occurring in front of him?

The Sinnoh native dashed ahead as Katya held on, looking to see if things were all right, but by the time he caught up, it appeared everyone had recovered sufficiently from the mash-up. At least until the two girls in front of him looked to be at each other's throats. One was clearly dustier than the other one but both were peacocking something fierce. Now, Erik didn't have enough experience when it came to watching girls fighting, because most veterans of the bar scene would let the two go at it and watch the fur fly. Erik however had been raised better than that, by someone who had seen his share of casino fights. Plus, he didn't need to have to worry about ambulances coming around to deal with the aftermath. So instead, he stepped ahead, intent on trying to quell the scuffle.

"Hey, hey...calm down..." he offered as he tried to step in between the two ladies. "There's, uh, there's no need to fight unless it's...you know...Pokemon I guess." Katya watched from Erik's shoulder, not sure what to do in this situation either. A shame she didn't know Sweet Scent or Aromatherapy.

As Adrian and Claire entered the laboratory, it looked a little...dishelveled. There were piles of books all over the place and a couple of Nidoran ran through the hallway in front of the two aspiring trainers. There was a bit of a smell wafting through the air, of sawdust and ...old milk? It was tough to place but it smelled off.

A voice called out from the back of the hall. "Hey! Is someone there! Give me a second I'll be up front in a sec. Just feeding some of the Pokemon. Just head to the foyer to the left. Watch out for the Pidgeys perching above the doorway!"
@Hella Cute

Nice. Well at the very least it'll definitely help Nightrunner since they can't get on Skype. I created one for Indigo at the link below.

Also, IC post #1 is up! We are underway!
The sun peeked over the hilly countryside on the outskirts of Pallet Town, heralding the start of a beautiful late spring day. The sound of a Dodrio's cries could be heard ringing in the air as the sleepy little town quietly began to awaken and bustle. One man however was already up and running, staring out of the window of his observation room at the top of his home for all these many years. A sense of pride was plastered across that wizened face of his, the streaks of gray in his hair now much lighter than in the past. Still he wore that lab coat with pride with his hands firmly tucked behind his back. He walked back over to the full length mirror near his computer and gazed into it, making sure he looked properly dapper.

"Ahhhhh, Pokemon League registration day! How I love it so! Fresh young faces, eager and full of life. Ready to go off on an adventure with their Pokemon. It's days like this that keep me young again." Professor Oak stood in the mirror straightening his collar. "Boy I tell you, nothing I love better than sending little kids out into the wild with nothing but tiny creatures to protect them, yessir!"

"Gramps, who are you talking to?" The voice came from the stairwell behind the professor. Up stepped the Viridian City Gym leader, Gary Oak who had entered the room to see if his grandfather was finally ready to greet the arriving trainers. "There's no one in here."

"Sure there is! The Pokemon listen to me! Or at least, they will until I give them to the trainers!"

"You don't have anymore Pokemon to give away Gramps! You gave away your last one ten years ago, remember? That Bulbasaur you gave to that homeless guy? Who ended up going on a drug crazed rampage off of it's spores?"

"Oh yes, I remember now! Little Johnny was so happy. Yes. But if I have no Pokemon to give, then how will these new Trainers get their first Pokemon?"

Gary sighed as he explained things to his grandfather for the umpteenth time. "They've already caught their own."

"Really? Kids these days. So self reliant. Back in my day ten year olds just sat around drooling on themselves and playing jacks. Fun times."

"Gramps most of these trainers aren't even kids anymore! I'm pretty sure I saw half of them out drinking in Viridian last night!"

Oak shook his head. "My my, they grow up so fast. Well, I'm sure they will still enjoy their Pokedexes. I made them myself you know!"

"No you don't." Gary rested his face against his hand. "We get them shipped in from Hoenn every time we need a batch. The last one you actually built contained nothing but dirty limericks and your grocery lists from the past two years. Someone scanned a Slowpoke and the screen literally said dumbass."

"Yes well, let's get ready to greet the young ones then." Professor Oak finally turned away from the mirror and walked over to the Viridian Gym Leader. "Come on downstairs...um...what was your name again?"

A nervous twitch appeared in Gary's left eye. "FOR FUCK'S SAKE OLD MAN! MY NAME IS GARY! GARY MOTHERFUCKING OAK! I'M YOUR GRANDSON!"

"Oh yes! I remember now. Your name is Gary. Well let's go downstairs Gary." With that, Professor Oak began shuffling down the stairs.

"God damn it. I shouldn't have to do this. I'm a gym leader. Where the hell's that Tracey guy? Never see him around here, he should be doing this!! Probably off scarfing down more donuts." Gary then followed his grandfather towards the stairs.

As he walked down the path outside of Pallet Town, Erik squinted as the sun hit his face. He put his left hand up to his face to try and shield his eyes, but it wasn't doing much good. "Damn. Should have remembered those sunglasses." He adjusted the small duffel bag that contained the belongings he brought along for this Kanto excursion. He looked over at his travelling partner, who was currently smiling and sunning herself as she sat on his shoulder, blue and red flowers outstretched towards the sunshine as if she were reaching for a cookie jar on the top shelf. "At least you're enjoying yourself, huh Katya?"

The tiny Roselia looked over at her trainer, still smiling as she kept her eyes closed. "Rose! Rosel..." You bet! It's so nice up here... She returned her attention to the basking.

Erik simply chuckled and smiled. "Well then I guess I can put up with scorching my retinas for you." He looked up ahead, the large observatory on the hill where he was told he'd have to register for the Kanto competitions was in the distance. "Although I don't know why we had to come all the way out to the middle of nowhere. Could have easily just started in Vermillion. There was a gym there." He looked back over at Katya. "Though I guess it's best to get you some experience anyway."

Katya let out a content sigh. "Rose....."

"All right, well we'll just have to make the best of the opportunity then...and definitely buy some sunglasses when I get the chance. Holy crap, I almost miss the Route 210 rainstorms now." The two continued up the road toward Oak's Laboratory to get this Kanto Conquest underway.
I'm still here as well, although I've been busy with my own RP starting up. At least I know that one's going to move damn it!

Re: Music - First of all, Okawari sounds pretty good. Never heard of him before clicking that link.

Maya's musical tastes are mostly about escaping reality, so the longer trance songs are his favorites. Especially the vocal progressive ones, the ones which are more uplifting and reaching a crescendo of sorts.

Examples:
A.M.R. - Beyond the Moon (f. Ai Takekawa)
D:Folt - Red Forest (f. Marcie)
BT - A Million Stars (f. Kirsty Hawkshaw)
@Nightrunner

Huh, never heard of that problem with Skype before. Well you can definitely communicate via PMs here. Just in my experience Skype makes it a lot easier to plan larger multi-person posts.
All right, after some early morning / latest evening deliberations with Raven, we have managed to come up with a list of people who will be travelling Kanto in the beginning.

Sybil Goldon

Fary Nitashi

Aeris Mason

Charlie Delacroix

Danny Harrison

Kat McKenzie

Claire Hawk

Gil Chevalier

You have been chosen to take part in the Indigo League challenge. To the unsuccessful candidates, it was a tough cut, but don't be disheartened! First of all, there is a good chance of drop outs. More than half the original starters in Indigo V1 dropped out and weren't there at the end. So keep following and if need be, I'll ask for one of you to fill the gap so to speak (You'll be given the opportunity to level up and catch to get caught up with everyone). If you can't wait though, my co-GM has another Pokemon RP currently in it's Interest Check stage, although I know he's put a lot of work into crafting a brand new world with some new mechanics factoring in the Conquest lineage. You can find it at the link below.

As for the starting trainers, please message me your Skype details so I can add you to the chat and we should be able to get things started later today!

@Hella Cute Way to ruin the surprise! Ahem...

And you thought I was gone? Well I was. RL social events were busy and also disappointing, but I have fought through to complete my sheet. I'm not completely happy with it, and it may change by the time we start. However, I'm closing off applications at this point. @WriterRaven you can move your sheet over now. We will deliberate tonight and tomorrow I should have a list of accepted sheets up before I go socializing some more. The first IC post will be up shortly after that.

Now I sleep in preparation of work. Such a life I lead...
