Art is subjective.
It's the first thing I will always say but having a taste in a certain art style is like having a taste in a certain style of music. So when someone critiques an artwork they are basing it off their own personal interest.
When critiquing words like 'lazy' can be used as it's a way of expressing how the person feel about the design, and yet I have seen in the past an artist make one change and it's taken something from terrible to amazing. What @Shienvien probably feels is that the design is lacking something, that it may look a little too generic, that the logo may not have a history behind it. Mitsubishi's logo is based off two family crest designs. Lamborghini's bull is based off a zodiac and love for Spanish bull fighting.
That's why he, along with others, are attached to the old design as it has a history about it. A memory of pre-guild that may show that the site will live on with the work and commitment of people like Mahz. I don't know what logo would please everyone as we all have different taste, but I wouldn't start fighting between ourselves over what we feel looks pretty and looks bad. The only person That's going to be affected by people's views on the logo is Panda, so there's no reason to get butt hurt over someone's personal, and valid, opinion.

Ah, well I can't do too much sadly. I just usually find when I'm down in the dumps that music will often help.

Don't read books much anyway. Never have. But I will occasionally in order to follow a certain character or story.
I actually find it a bit helpful too as you can see how other people write and get ideas for structuring your story. For instance I read BB Murder case again (Death Note Novel) and found it interesting how the narrator starts off telling the story from his perspective at the beginning of the chapter before switching to the standard novel perspective. It's a move that flows really well and gave me a few ideas.
I believe the big difference is that story telling will always be fixed with plot twists and a certain outcome. Roleplaying will always have a lively atmosphere and can change through the players input.

I've made some logos for the guild years ago when I was just a wee lad, but they're gone and lost.
Before redpanda made an image for us today, all we had was some cold grey text that said Roleplayer Guild at the top of the site.
The one that looks like red panda created it, from the URL that is.
