Slowly, Futility rises from the ashes. Very soon, I hope, we'll be able to wrap up this next round of scenes, but that's like 3-4 posts out at least. The hustle does not stop.

I see things have... escalated in my absence.
Akane ceased her constant chatter as her professor seemed to bury himself in thought for the moment. No doubt, he was thinking of the random student outside. Shou seemed to really care for this student, or he at least felt strongly about this 'James'. All teachers had those types of students of course, the kind Akane tried to avoid. Then again, she tended to avoid all other students. She brought a hand up to her chin as she was caught in thought, swirling the contents of her drink around in its cup as she did so. It's not like the two of them would meet again anyways. Akane shrugged off the thoughts of the student, directing her wayward gaze back to her professor.

"We should go see him?" This may have been one of the first times Akane had shot a questioning glance at her professor. She wasn't one to go against her superiors, but Ugh, people. No doubt awkwardness would ensue if she had to converse with James. Speaking to her peers was definitely not her forte, and Akane made that quite known to anyone who managed to stumble into a conversation with her. Perhaps that was the reason she spent most of her time off studying or playing games. It was not that she disliked her lifestyle of solitude, but perhaps interacting with her peers would be enjoyable if she met someone fun.

Akane attempted to mask her rather large sigh with her hand. "I suppose I could accompany if you'd prefer it." He didn't appear like some Akane would hate. She gave a shrug, gathering her dish and cup together before withdrawing some cash from her bag. She quickly counted out some cash for her and her companion's refreshments and laid it on the table. "Lead the way." Her eyes went wide a moment. She had no idea what Shou wanted her to talk to James for, but there was no going back now.

Shou really was an interesting man. He seemed so fluid and cool when talking to his students. Akane enjoyed his company and was sure that many other students were the same way. And he played games too? Wow, this guy is an A+ teacher. Akane definitely wasn't the best at the games she played, but she was a determined person. Perhaps one day she'd try entering one of the competitive tournaments held at the arcade, though such a thought had never crossed her mind before.

"I suppose I will have to talk to Mrs. Green then. I've never taken one of the cooking classes," her voice lowers just a bit as she speaks. "Too busy taking Calculus, Statistics, and the like." Math... Akane shivered at the thought. Though that really wasn't an excuse. Akane would have pulled the 'I'm a broke student and can't afford to eat well' card if she and her brother hadn't had their parent's fortune. Perhaps she would take up the professor's idea and try a cooking class, or at least get to know Mrs. Green.

Akane gave the waitress a smile as she moved to their table with Shou's order. With an appreciative nod, she turned back to Shou. Akane's eyes widened as Shou had offered her his plate of cheesecake to her. Akane realized that people like Shou weren't the type to take no for an answer. She pulled the plate close, lifted her tea off of the small plate it had sat upon, and went to slice the dish in half, moving a portion onto her plate. "I simply can't accept that." Akane then slides the remaining portion of the cheesecake back to Shou.

Akane would nod. "Cats are like friends that don't judge you and are very cuddly." Akane knew her obsession with cats would eventually lead to her life as an old woman with sixty cats, but that didn't stop her. Cats are too adorable. "Ah yes. I've heard the rumors about Professor Matsuoka's adorable dogs. They've quite the reputation among your students."

The pair fell silent for a moment, leading Akane to follow Shou's eyes to the student outside the window. As far as she knew, Akane and he had never met. [color=red]"Is something the matter?"[color] She asked, before listening to Shou's mumbling with a perplexed expression. Akane smirked as Shou praised her. "He doesn't seem to be doing any harm, does he?"

Akane gives a quick shrug to her professor. "Do you wish to go speak with him?" Akane felt kind of strange. It was as if the two of them were spying of the other Student, 'James Avery' "Boys will be boys I suppose."

@MyCatGinger
Akane's eyes followed her professor's hand as he directed her to his favorite seat. She couldn't help but suppress a little laugh as Shou started to justify her taking of the four person table. Window seat, space for her books and laptop, and off in a corner... It was perfect for her. Disregarding the silly thoughts of her 'peaceful table', Akane brought a hand up to her the end of her scarf. She continued to fiddle with the end of it while she and her new company were conversing.

His tired eyes made it quite obvious that it took Shou a moment to recognize her. Shou then sent her a rather strange smile. Akane didn't understand at first, but she simply returned the smile as he spoke. He had recognized her by name, so her attempt at being outgoing in General Biology must have been working at least a little bit. Blush spread rather rapidly across her face as her professor complimented her scarf. It had definitely worked better than expected. She let out a suppressed giggle before speaking. "Why thank you. I am glad you noticed it." She flipped her scarf with her hand as if showing it off while speaking.

Akane couldn't help but show a small smirk as Shou avoided answering the question. She had no idea why, but she didn't seem to care. As Shou started to talk about his career as a teacher, Akane gave an affirming nod. "I understand how you feel! Despite the constant pressure to score high, I find my classes rather enjoyable."

Akane's enthused look didn't waver as Shou looked her over. "I suppose I am just used to rising early due to my morning classes, and I do enjoy spending my free mornings wasting time at the arcade and such." Akane's blush spread more and more rapidly as Shou had told her she was a pleasure to have in class. Akane knew she was a stellar student in terms of grading and test taking, but it felt good to have a teacher recognize her. Not to mention this was the third time he had called her 'Miss Takumi'. It was a small detail, but she liked it. It was different. After a moment of thought, Akane gave a simple shrug in response. "Studying pays off I guess."

After a moment, Akane noticed the professor had spaced out for a time being. She was a bit perplexed at his evasive gaze and response, but her ignorance got the best of her. "I can understand that. I too had to deal with the struggle for fulfilling meals when I came to the academy. I like to think I've managed well so far, despite my expensive sweet tooth." It seemed his nourishment still hadn't found its way out of the kitchen. There wasn't much the two of them could do about that, of course.

Akane's rather excited and happy expression met the smile of her professor. He was much better company than Akane thought a teacher could be. Well, it was pretty obvious that a star student would get along with a teacher just as well as other students. Her eyes widened for a slight moment as Shou asked her for her plans. She hadn't thought about that part of the conversation; she never did.

She gave a quick nod, remembering her plans. "Cats. . ." She replied with an absent look that accompanied her smirk. "I am going to get some cats." Like six- "Like seven cats." There was an obvious bit of humor in her voice, making it a bit difficult to tell if she was being serious, but as Akane went throughout her day, the more she thought about getting eight cats, the more it seemed like a good idea.

@MyCatGinger
Akane's eyes flicked upwards as she realized someone was trying to get her attention. She had drowned out most of the noise with her music, but she managed to notice the tall silver haired man standing before her table. It wasn't unusual that someone wish to share a table with her. She was being greedy with her choice of seating anyways, but what was unusual was the man that asked. General Biology? Akane's eyes widened a bit as she reached up to pull off her headphones. Professor Matsuoka? Akane quickly moved her bag from its position on the table to a spot next to her chair on the floor before speaking.

"Yes, please sit." Akane smiled up at Shou. She had always enjoyed the professor's class. He was an intellectual, much like her. Of course, Akane liked most of her teachers, but was usually the type of student to remain silent during class. Shou's class was different. She tended to be slightly more responsive in her attempts to stand out. Perhaps it was because she felt more comfortable in the class. "It's not a problem. I probably shouldn't keep taking the larger table."

Akane paused for a moment before speaking again as if contemplating what to say. It wasn't often she had to talk to a professor outside of school. "Good to see you, professor," she settled for. It was a good start to see if he even recognized her as one of his students. "It seems your night has been long, but despite that, how has your weekend been?" Akane noticed the dark circles under her professor's eyes. She gave him the best attempt at a warming smile she could manage. "Teaching must be rough for someone who can't stand mornings." Akane almost giggled at the irony, but she manages to stop herself.

"Anyways, it's a pleasure seeing you outside of General Biology. Your class is rather enjoyable for me." Akane considered rambling on, but she didn't want to kiss up to her professor too obviously. There was a bit of a pause after she spoke. Perhaps she was making Shou uncomfortable with her admiration. Akane, of course, either didn't realize that she was doing this or didn't care. She was always the 'teacher's pet' type of student. Considering she spent most of her time on schoolwork, she worried much more about school than her social life. Akane tried to steer the conversation once more, back to a more casual topic, despite how much she wanted to continue with her admiration. "So obviously you're here to wake yourself up. What sort of plans do you have for the rest of the day?"

Oh gosh, sorry. I didn't notice I was mentioned. xD
I will get a post up soon!
Also, I'd assume they would know each other since Akane is a student, if that is okay with you.
I'd love to hop in on this RP. I'll start work on a nation soon.
"Oh I'm sure there's much more talent behind your magic than that." Akane would then send Zac a smirk. "That's rather impressive. I look forward to your Houdini displays." A short giggle escaped her lips. Perhaps he would one day be able to wriggle free of numerous pounds of iron chains, but for now, it seemed a bit far off. Zac was definitely an interesting fellow. He was much different than the usual people Akane held in company. Of course, she never really got close to people who weren't complete bookworms like her.

Akane's eyes widened a bit as Zac asked her about herself. Oh boy, now I have to do the talking. She paused a moment, blank expression still present on her face as she was lost in thought for a few seconds. "Well... I'm not an interesting, fancy magician, first off. I don't have too many hobbies currently because of schoolwork and the like, but I do like to entertain myself with games and books. Not very interesting, I know, but ask me anything and I'll have an answer!" She puts on a determined smirk as she speaks. "I'm into plenty of other things, but I don't wish to bore you with all of that."

Heck yeah, knowledge.
"Schoolwork, though... Schoolwork is my main hobby." Akane ends on, sarcastically. "-And I think I am one of the best at that." She remarks with a flip of her hair, sarcasm still evident in her voice. She takes the last few drinks of her tea, eyes meeting those of her acquaintance. "I've not got the most interesting life in Shine City. I am fairly new to the place, after all." Akane gave a quick shrug before continuing. "Anyways Zac. I think I am going to have to head back to my dorm now." Without even thinking, she withdrew a pen from her shoulder bag, scribbling her phone number down on a napkin. "I hope this is an adequate way to stay in touch."

After exchanging a quick goodbye, Akane would then stand up, offering a short wave to Zac before she gathered her things, cleared her cup and left enough money to cover for both of their drinks with an additional tip. It seemed she did this without even realizing, as if it was an automatic thing, and was quick to exit before Zac could even attempt to protest.

@Daxam ((Sorry if I ended kind of abruptly. Feel free to make another post and I'll reply. I just wanted to catch up with everyone else. She wasn't trying to be cold with you. :P ))

Saturday 9:30 AM

Finally, a day for Akane to forget the usual school stuff. Of course, she still woke up relatively early as she was used to it. With all the classes she had on weekdays she rarely ever woke up after 10:00 AM. Depsite her day off, Akane still had not intended to spend the day idling around. Coffee first, then maybe a stop at the arcade, then I need to go look for that pet shop I think might exist in Shine Junction. Yeah... I need like at least five, maybe six cats... With her schedule planned out, she continued to fix her hair. She was never one to go about a day without a plan. Yeah it was weird, but she didn't care. Flipping her red scarf around her neck, Akane smiled as she ambled out of her dorm.

It was a short walk to Mochavine and she knew the route well. The cafe was one of Akane's favorite places to do work. With endless supply of tea, calming music, and the occasional brave person that approached her to chat, what's not to love? Akane flipped her phone out as she started her walk. With quick glances to her news article every so often, Akane tuned in to the radio as she walked.

As she entered, the place started to fill up. Akane gave a whispered Yes as she noticed her usual table was free. The table had enough room for four, and she never cared if anyone else sat there while she was doing schoolwork, but she always sat there. If the waitress could only give Akane the tea section of the menu, she would. Tea was what she always got, though, the flavor varied of course. Quickly, she picked her drink before the waitress even leaves her table. Akane taps her fingers against the table as she waits. Per usual she continues to browse the news on her phone with the addition of some of Akane's usual piano instrumental music.

There were a few other people in the cafe alone, but Akane was never one to approach others. She simply awaited her tea once more, thinking about her day. A whole day to practice her video games. Oh! And of course get like six... maybe seven cats in Shine Junction.
@Dynamo Frokane
Just to make sure. How long will we be time skipping? So I know when to stop my next post.
Akane's eyebrow quirked as Zac flagged the waitress. She was smart enough to realize this was part of his trick, of course, but it was an odd thing to do still. She shrugged this off for the moment and continued to converse. "You must be pretty good! Or at least, we will see about that." She smirked peering towards the waitress as she walked away. "And you can cook too?" Akane spoke with a slight bit of sarcasm. She was still impressed, of course, but she was never one to be serious about, well anything."You sure get around."

Akane flicked her eyes towards the waitress as she neared the table, returning with the plate. With a bow of her head in thanks, her gaze fell back upon Zac. She gives him a nod as he continues to explain the build up for his trick. Her expression was rather blank. She had little idea of what to expect. I mean... It's just a plate. Akane started up the tapping of her fingers once more as she watched Zac's setup.

As Zac poured coffee atop the card onto the plate, Akane couldn't help but smile. Now that was more interesting than simply pulling her card from the top. With his quick count Akane rose an eyebrow. He was good. At least better than the usual 'pick a card' magicians trying to pick up girls. It took her a moment to even realize that it was the Queen of Spades he revealed. Akane then brought her hands together in a quiet clap that continued on for a bit. She was impressed. Without a verbal reply she simply nodded as she spoke.

"That certainly was a new spin on the usual card tricks." Akane paused once more, but this time to sip some of her tea. She was looking with impressed eyes at her new acquaintance. "I see your practice has paid off. You had me impressed."
