Overlord Thraka — Roleplayer Guild

Hello! Welcome to my RP partner search! I've been on here for a few months now and have gotten a pretty good feel for the site as a whole. 

I'm a 20 year old guy and I've been RPing for a little over 2 years now, mostly in a freeplay RP on another site, but since I've moved here I've enjoyed the much more complex writing process involved here. I enjoy writing actual paragraphs and not just *Character does this* all the time, so if you're interested in adventuring in a Fantasy world of endless opportunities then by all means, read on!

This is a world I hope to develop alongside a RP partner as our characters wander through it. Discovering things, killing monsters, (possibly) falling in love? and adventuring forthwith!

Note that I do intend this to be a darker more serious RP. Less silly adventuring and tales of happy endings, more descending into the dark depths of Evil and villainy. Although I encourage you to play what you want, do note that most of my characters, even the happy-go-lucky ones, will have a more serious edge to them. It's not all sunshine and daisies. To use a real world example, it's going to be more like Marvel on Netflix (Dark and grim) instead of Marvel on the big screen (Bright, colorful and fairly humorous).
This by no means is a ban on happy characters, characters getting a happy ending or characters being some kind of comedic relief, but those are not going to be the focus in this RP.

Basic rules. 
This is not a super advanced RP. I want character development, but you don't have to write paragraphs to get that. Write how you want to write, even if it's simplistic. I will be writing 1+ paragraphs depending on how much material I can get in. (Not going to make a 5 paragraph post about someone putting the kettle on for example)

Whatever goes. If you want something done, don't ask me. This is a collective story, we'll do this together. I'm no more the final say GM than you are.

You are NOT limited to a single character. If you want more than one, then go for it! I'm certainly going to play a multitude of characters, and not just minor NPC's that vanish, or villains. 

No godly powerful characters without us BOTH approving it. Villains or heroes, it doesn't matter. Please don't, unless they have one serious weakness. (Example: Wizard capable of killing entire armies, but is blind and deaf so he could be easily killed by someone sneaking up on him is okay. Godly level being without any real weaknesses is not.)

This is not a rule, but just know that magic users are going to be minimal in this world. Certainly not nonexistent, but not a major player. Magical items are incredible common, but people capable of actually wielding magic are rare and for the most part won't crop up very much. (Except perhaps with one of my planned villains)

Finally, do try not to just kill a character without good reason. (Example: Elf stabs Dwarf for no real reason. Okay example would be, Elf stabs Dwarf after Elf finds out Dwarf slept with Elf's sister)

I tend to reply within 18 hours of my partner's posting, and while I don't expect others to be able to match me, I would ask for 3+ replies per week if possible. I'm not a fan of playing the waiting game, only getting to post once every 5 days or so. 

Other than that, feel free to apply! If this ends up going well, in time I might set up a RP for more players set in this world. As it is no, apply via PM and I'll let you know!

One final note, treat this as a real application, not just "I'm interested". I'm going to pick the people I feel I would work the best with, not the necessarily the first comer. Tell me a bit about yourself and your history in RPing! I'm eager to know!

Introduction and basic info
The Land of Anachria is a land divided by race and old grudges. Long ago, the Elves ruled over most of the land above ground while the Dwarves mined the earth below them. This suited both parties and trade was common among them. The Elves supplying the Dwarves with wood and much food while the Dwarves in turn gave the Elves works of great beauty and craftsmanship along with many gems and precious metals. 

This changed when the other races arrived. From the Southern deserts and wastes came a great host of Orcs, Goblins and other greenskin races that invaded and settled in the Southernmost part of the land, much to the fury of both Elves and Dwarves, who lacked the strength to battle such a horde of Greenskins. The Orcs settled on the edge of the land, raiding occasionally to take slaves from the other races. Orcs were very lazy when it came to things not involving war and cruelty, so naturally the kidnapped others to do their work for them. From growing food to washing laundry, slavery became a large part of Orcish society.

The Goblins for their part saw themselves being replaced as the slave of choice and most decided to take this chance to escape. Fleeing underground, they discovered Trolls and trained them for combat against the Dwarves who fought back against the horde of greenskinned troll-riding Goblins

Sailing from the Western sea came the Halflings. A peaceful folk in search of new lands after their own had been invaded by an enemy long forgotten, they came quietly and at settled comfortably into the Western meadows before the occupants had hardly realized. The Meadow Elves did not mind at all as they felt a kinship with the little folk and they lived together in peace. The Dwarves viewed the Halflings as harmless silly creatures, but admired their skill in brewing and began trade with them, giving them tools and the like in exchange for the excellent cellar-stock of the little folk.

From the East came the first of the Therianthropes. Beings capable of shifting form into that of an animal and back again. Though initially distrustful, the Elves and Dwarves managed to broker a unsteady peace with the Tribal beings. Eventually more Werelords made their way into Anachria and dispersed among the population, often assuming positions of power while most of the original inhabitants stayed in the East, living contently on their own, unconcerned with the rest of the civilized world. Though small in number they held great power as a single Werelord was equal to 5 or more soldiers of other races.

Finally from the Northern mountains came the race of man. They quickly spread faster than any of the other races in the land. Although the got along well with the Halflings, and even made many Therianthropes into Nobles among them, they had an uneasy peace with the Dwarves. The Dwarves were reluctant to trade with them, as they could provide almost nothing the Elves could not, but they could see it would be better to be allied to the quickly spreading race of men, as opposed to fighting against them.

The Elves did not share the Dwarves viewpoint however, they took great offense to the humans rapidly spreading across their land. While they had befriended the gentle Halflings and tolerated the Therianthropes to the East. They hated the Men almost as much as they hated the Greenskins. Seeing the men as an infestation that could be dealt with while their numbers were still small, they went swiftly into action. Unlike the Therianthropes, the race of man did not possess great strength. Unlike the Dwarves, they had not a use to the Elves. Unlike the Orcs, they did not have unassailable numbers. 

The Elves sought to strike quickly, but quickly to an Elf does not mean the same to a human, and by the time the Elves marched to war, the Humans had already constructed several large towns and even a minor city in the Northern part of the land, along with forts to defend against the occasional attack from wandering bands of Greenskins. 

The Elves were shocked to see their assault met with a great deal of tenacity from the men, who fought back with great fury. The Elves attack was quickly beaten back to their groves, but the humans did not stop there. They had had enough of the Elves continual mockery and occasional aggressions and slights against them. They fought long and hard to push the Elves deep into the darkest thickets of the woods of the world. Finally when the fighting was over the Elves were shattered and spread thing, while Men celebrated their victory and settled into lands once occupied by elves. 

The defeated Elves scattered to the corners of the world. 
The Snow Elves retreated into the mountains from where the humans came from. Living high on the peaks and in the frozen wastes, living off of hunting and what few crops they could grow. 

The Sand Elves fled south, past the Orcs and into the desert where they managed a meager living around a few oasis, mapping the stars to navigate the sands. 

The High Elves went back to the few great Elven cities not destroyed during the war and closed them off. Not one soul has passed in or out of those cities in living memory, and the High Elves have faded into legend

The Meadow Elves had not fought in the war on one side or another were spared and allowed to keep their lands among the Halflings where they lived in peace.

The Wood Elves grieved as they saw the humans take their lands and cut and burn their trees. Overwhelmed with grief they fled to the dense jungle in the east to live among the Werelords. Though they were not quite welcomed the Werelords were small enough in number that there was land enough for them both to share without brushing against each other too often
 
The Deep Elves retreated into the earth where they lived among the Dwarves, keeping their techniques of metalworking to themselves but sharing the results with the Dwarves around them. Many great weapons of legend were forged between the partnership of the Deep Elves and Dwarves.

Finally there were the Dark Elves. They were much like the Deep Elves in that they lived within the earth and were accomplished blacksmiths, but they were a far more sinister foe. Wielding powerful poisons concocted from the venom of great spiders, the slightest scratch of their blade meant a long slow death for the person wounded. They relished in capturing humans, torturing them, then killing them, and using their bones as grisly décor for their dimly-lit halls.

The Humans for the most part went on to forget most of the details of the great war, but repeated attacks from both Drow and some of the more aggressive Elfkin has left the race of man with a brewing hatred towards all things Elven. Oftentimes Meadow Elves are attacked in human settlements, both physically and verbally. This lead to Meadow Elves becoming more and more reclusive, living with the Halflings and keeping their distance from the humans. 

There are folktales of halfies, cross species children born from the coupling of a human and an Orc, Elf or Dwarf. Though Half-Orcs are not uncommon, often being sired by a Orc mating with his or her slave

As time went on more Werelords came from the Northeast and dispersed among the humans. Many came to honor the powerful beings and eventually many Werelords made up the ruling caste among the humans. Settling down as Lords,Ladies, Jarls and even occasionally Kings and Queens. 
And so that is how it has been the last 4000 years. Elves and humans occasionally warring with each other while the other races mostly stayed out of it.
Also if you read the whole thing, I applaud you sir and or madam! Please do include in your application PM the answer to the following question. What is two plus two? This certainly won't exclude anyone, but I'm curious to know who read my entire expositional lore dump

In short, Elves and Humans hate each other, Halflings and Dwarves stick to the background and Werebeasts rule the humans. Also Orcs are bad.
