SO, do we have a set character sheet yet?

If you mean a format/skeleton for it, I'm letting people do as they want with it. As far as the things that I would need filled out, I'm pretty sure that it won't change from these! At most, I may have to go in and add a "time in service" bit for player convenience.

@Obscene Symphony HR department seen sweating nervously as they wonder if it's possible to get sued after being dead.

"They wouldn't sue like, reapers right? Right???"

Woo, thank you! And yeah I figured since the weapons are made out of the spooky gem cores they would have some immunity to magic, breaking, etc?

Yep, good guess! Very durable and generally pretty inert to being altered by magic, so they can take quite a bit of abuse ehe.

@PapiTan for magic, do you think changing the properties of objects would work? Like making something heavier or lighter, or rubbery, soft, hard, etc? I'm leaning that direction now using "Transmutation" as the magic branch, but I can go back to the drawing board if you don't think it will work!

Transmutation should work totally fine as a magic branch, yep! I will give the heads up in advance that it most likely won't work directly on a reaper's weapon, but hopefully people aren't trying to fight their colleagues r-right? /nervous sweating
Do Reapers primarily work alone, or do they get sent out as teams? Or is it up to them if they want to team up or not? Are there some jobs that require multiple Reapers?

Miss Death sends reapers out on teams due to a certain Incident(TM), and will generally encourage working in teams. Buuuuut she's also not able to enforce them actually working together once they've left Decibitus unless someone in the group does it for her. In that sense, even if jobs might not need multiple reapers, Miss Death will send at least two to every job on her end. There are definitely jobs that do require a group though like particularly nasty wisps or "oh my god someone ran from Decibitus into a populated city how are we supposed to find them now???" types of situations.

@PapiTan Would something like "physics" be a functional magic category? I was thinking of spells revolving around manipulating gravity and I'm not sure how to categorize that.

I mean, with how much goes into trying to figure it out, physics is basically magic

I think in this case, I'll tentatively bundle gravity-based magic under cosmic magic as a sort of specialization, but I'll let you know if I suddenly need to unbundle it for some reason!
What exactly does necromancy entail considering pretty much everything here is varying degrees of dead?

In as far as in-game engagement use would go, things like reanimating remains while on Earth (with the caveat that law-abiding folks would only be using magic to move in the vast majority of situations), control of decay both physical and not-so-physical, vitality movement, methods of detecting departed souls over a distance, and things in a similar vein to that. I don't mind using necromantic themes in spells that might not be typical necromancer fare either, as long as the themes are more than just an aesthetic thing.

For simplicity, I would have necromancy work on targets that you're expected to be engaging with unless a GM specifically says otherwise as well.

EDIT: I'm also gonna go ahead and say that necromancy would be the way to turn for spells that initiate communication back to Decibitus without actually going back to base while on Earth via communion with spirits.
Once I've actually done that whole like, "sleeping" thing and recovered from my friends trying to cause a bit of acute cirrhosis to my liver, I'll get to work on finishing up an ooc and making the discord server. I would love to say it'll be done this weekend, but I'm aware that's probably me being overconfident. Haha!

@King Cosmos Yeah, definitely still room!
@Scribe of Thoth @Abstract Proxy Aw shucks, thank you both for the interest!

@PapiTan Do the dead always remember their life/how they died, or can they forget?

Sorry for the delay in response!

While parts of their life might be hazy, as memories are wont to be, the dead always remember their existence in life with a surprising amount of clarity, and they generally do remember the way they died if they were in a position to be aware of it (i.e. not asleep or in a coma). Sometimes they might repress or try to ignore memories of certain traumatic events or lie about their lives, but the departed are always aware of who they were before death!

Followup, how does a Reaper find out they're eligible to become a Reaper? Is that something they're aware of during their life or only when they die? Do people on Earth even know about Reapers?

Reapers will usually be approached by Miss Death directly or someone associated with her and told about their eligibility, so that's something that they'll find out only when they die.

People on Earth are kind of a mixed bag in terms of knowledge of reapers though. People will rarely witness a reaper or their work, but they usually have no idea what they're seeing when it happens. They do get mistaken for basically grim reapers at times because of the nature of their work though, hence the association to the name reapers.
@PapiTan Just one quick question for you then. Are you wanting a crew of "new" reapers or a mix of newbies and veterans? If I join in I was considering a character that has been on the job for a bit already. The welcome message you included in the OP seems like it's for new "hires" but I didn't want to assume one way or the other.

I'm perfectly okay with people playing more seasoned reapers! I just felt that the welcome would be a little more fun to introduce the job duties. Sorry for any confusion that might have caused!
