"It's the Little Things"

It's the little things you do
and certain things you say
that keep me going on
throughout my whole day.

I just can't imagine how
I'd ever be without you
every little thing you do
let's me know it's true.

We started off with a call
it soon turned into love
We took it slow at first
now I can't get enough.

It's the little things you say
little things you say like that
that just keeps me going
keeps me right on track.

With other guys it would be
old by now but with you
it means so much more
with you it feels so true.

I don't ever let my guard down
but with you I couldn't resist
I knew you could be the one
since that first day we kissed.

"About a Boy"

^{Written March 17th, 2012.}

Author's Note

This was written about my first love, Mathew. He lost his parents in a house fire when he was 5 years old, and eventually lost his older brother overseas. We were a long distance couple, and had always imagined what it had been like if we had met sooner. As children. So, we played it out. We acted as if we had known each other that long, and I think that's why we lasted so long. Why we tried so hard to keep it going. We, ourselves, were convinced.

There was once a little boy
who lived with his parents
he had a brother and a sister
and they lived together happily.

There was once a little boy
who lost everything he had
his parents were taken away
he was left scarred for life.

There was once this growing boy
who was shipped off to a new family
he was a little troublemaker
and no one wanted to take him.

There was once an adolescent boy
who fought everyone in his way
everyone was the enemy to him
he chose his select few friends.

That same adolescent young boy
met this girl at a big house party
they were both still growing up
but were experiencing new feelings.

The young boy lost so much more
along the way all he could do at all
was hold in the tears and fight it out
there was nothing else he knew to do.

The boy couldn't understand some things
that were happening to him at the time
through understanding these things though
came a huge amount of responsibility.

That boy had to grow up so fast
and that girl wanted to be apart of
she also had to learn to share her boy
but she'd make it through just for him.

That boy was growing up into a man
sometimes workin' hard or hardly workin'
he made due with what he had on hand
remembering the things he was taught.

That young man is still here to this day
growing older as the days pass him by
he hasn't yet made the fatal mistake
of letting his dreams pass without a try.

That one girl is still there by his side
praying to whatever higher being
that there is out in our big universe
that they'll stop time or slow it down.

That girl keeps on hoping and dreaming
that she can make their moments last
if not then she just wants some way
to make her existence about a boy.

"Who I Am"

W.I.A.

Who I am is not important
it's who I'll become that matters.
Who I could be to you is just
a whole different story to be told.

Right here and now is important
the person I am, you may not like.
Hold out through the storm to see
just who I really, truly am.

I'm only seventeen and am not
who I am supposed to be just yet.
I'm still on the journey to find myself
so please don't leave me, not yet.

You ask me who I am but sadly
I cannot answer your questions.
I'll tell you one thing though
stick around and you'll see who I am.

Who I am isn't important today
maybe someday it'll be of importance.
But now just love me for who I am
right here, right now..just don't leave.

"Jigsaw Puzzle"

Do you wanna play a game?
I'm not doing it for the fame.
You may think the game is over hun,
but really the game has just begun.

You have a certain time to live
until you get out, I'll keep you captive.
I'm here to play a game with you
search around the room for a clue.

I want you to see what I see Angel,
hidden in this poem is a piece of the puzzle.
It will answer the questions you have,
the puzzle can be complete, give it a stab.

I will not give you any other hints
don't try to retrace your footprints.
The clock is ticking and you better hurry
cause your death won't come so easily.

You have so many seconds to live until
you die and I victoriously make my kill.
Until all the puzzle pieces are in place,
the only way out is to see what I see, Ace.

"These Lovely Bones"

Author's Note

This was a poem written about reconnecting with my first love, Mathew O'Connor. It didn't last much longer than a couple weeks before we separated, again.

T.L.B.

Our relationship used to be so colored and so bright,
we could always agree with each other and never fight.
It used to be vibrant and full of laughter and happiness
your amazing handsome looks were just an added bonus.

Then we would fight constantly all throughout the night hours
contemplating whether or not this love we shared was true of ours.
So we separated and went down the distinct paths of our lives,
we gave up on our relationship, never waiting for it to strive.

Our relationship used to be so amazing and wonderful as could be,
it turned for the worst and into the battle of Beau and Missy.
We murdered our relationship in cold blood and buried the remains
I've been back to the burial site but to not dig it up, help me refrain.

I sit here and read the gravestone over and over again in my mind
yet I give in and dig up the old remains of it all, shocked to find
that even after I had thought we murdered all possible chances
of ever getting back together but I'm glad I made these advances.

I continue to stay here and I have started puttin' pieces together,
digging up these old feelings from our past, leaves me feeling light as a feather.
my blackened, broken heart flickers like a shallow, dimming candle light
a flame that wants to die out but yet like a baby bird, wanting to take flight.

I've dug up these old bones in hopes to help solve this mysterious case
I've lost you but you best believe I'm not giving up, I will give chase.
I want to bring our relationship back from the dead and create a new one
we'll put good use to these old bones, let's make use of what we've been given.

"That'll be the Day"

^{Written April 21st, 2012 - dedicated to Andres, when we were 'together'.}

T.B.T.D.

Some day in the future I will wake up
I'll look over at you and whisper "Wassup"
Our bodies all twisted and tangled together
A day like that couldn't get any better.

We'd wake up and make some breakfast
our 2 little ones would say its the "bestest"
After we ate we would go over to the park
we'd play soccer all day until it got dark.

We'd have our own house with a big backyard
have ourselves a blue nose pit, no St. Bernard
Our love would never die or even slightly falter
one day in the future I'll see you under that alter.

There wont ever be a darkened day with our love
every day will be as amazing as the heavens above
Though we may get separated finding our way home
but wherever you will go, way up high or down low.

Some day in the near future I will wake up
I'll look over at you and whisper softly "Wassup"
Close to you is where I'll feel most safe and okay
just to be in your arms, baby that'll be the day.

I felt a pang of grief.
You left me out to dry
your love got me so high.

Alone now I sit here
for my wrongs I fear.
It was all my fault
put my heart at a halt.

Now I lay down steady
this burden is really heavy.
I dont know what to say
I know it was never okay.

"Switching"

^{Written June 11th, 2012 - OneWord Writing Prompt of the Day - Dedicated to an old 'relationship' with a guy named Andres.}

Author's Note

Sadly, at a low point in my life, I was one of those sick people who cat-fished some guy into thinking I was this really visually beautiful girl. We dated for a month or so, and he kept wanting to fly down to meet me.. and of course, like any catfish, I refused. Finally, he told me he was coming down and was prepared to buy a ticket that moment. I broke down and told him the truth. Of course, he didn't like me for me, and rightfully so, he hated me for lying to him. So we split. This poem is what sprung from it all. I have beaten myself up over the years for it, and really don't need to be lectured further. Please don't criticism me for something that's far, far behind me. It's not easy to admit I did something so slimy to someone.. at the end of the poem, I refer to the girl I pretended to be as 'her'. Just so you're not confused as to who I'm speaking of.

When I thought you were always there
I'd turn around to see you everywhere
Slipping further into a deep abyss
it's the sweet sound of your voice I miss.

A blur of my past only there in a memory
I realize now that it was all just a dream.
With my eyes closed I could feel you close
I open my eyes but it was just a ghost.
