Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

Sabine stared at the milkshake offered, glancing up at Dorian. While her talk with Max settled her mind on a lot of matters, she was beyond sure that Dorian would hate her. She wasn’t super convinced Danni didn’t either, though their talk in Casper’s memory helped a bit. She took it and offered Dorian a small smile before she sipped it. It was her favorite flavor and gave her a bit more courage for the next steps.

Soon, the others in the room all had eyes on her. Normally she would have relished this moment, but given recent events she wanted nothing more than to sink into the wall and forget. But she knew she couldn’t. She wouldn’t. She owed it to everyone.

Percy had asked what happened. Their trust had been built up significantly. Hell, apart from Leah, Sabine was sure Percy was one of the only guaranteed people to not immediately hate her. And then April.

Oh, April….

The two hadn’t talked for so long. And then Sabine had to go fuck it up all over again. She didn’t even want to think about how what she did hurt April, seeing both her and Danni potentially hurt, Casper, even Vicky (to an extent).

So she took a beat, needing a moment, before she spoke up. ”During the seance, I saw Casper look terrified, something more than just seeing a vengeful spirit or whatever. I grew concerned and let my emotions take over so I used my power on him, intending to alleviate the worry. But something changed and shifted. I got stuck in a memory of him and couldn’t get out. And, though I am not completely sure on this, I think I had latent psychic energy still so when Danni and Vicky touched me they got sent in also. We managed to get out, thankfully, and nothing we did altered Casper, I made sure of that with Danni and Vicky’s help. And Max took me away somewhere to talk about it and discuss what to do going forward. I want to apologize to both Casper and James and…I don’t know. I am sure they both hate me and will want me out of here and I don’t blame them. So if that is what happens I’ll head back to the hotel and you all can enjoy the night’s events.”

Due to their shared adventure, Vicky would hear Sabine not only from her words, but her immediate thoughts.

”I’m a monster. Everyone here is going to hate me after this. I should run away lest I hurt anyone else.”

Max sat up from his chair, turning to make his way back downstairs. The stairs didn't normally creak, or groan. But it was almost as if the house itself was protesting this conversation as much as Max had been. He didn't know how well this would go, and frankly it frightened him. He knew what it was like to have your parents hate your very being. To question and doubt you as if you were nothing more than a monster lurking in the bushes waiting to pounce. He stopped midway down the steps, took in a deep breath, and continued on. Ben wasn't in the kitchen anymore, wandering the room next door as if to give the children some semblance of privacy. Good. Sabine could use that right now. He was always good with kids, better than Max ever could hope to be. Every time he saw his husband he couldn't help but smile, making his way over to him as he wrapped an arm around his waist and pulled him close for a kiss. Whispering. ”How are the kids?”

”They’re holding up,” Ben assessed. Leah seemed to be doing a lot better now that she had tasks - and the conversation seemed to be picking up now, as the rest of the kids had finally joined. He let the tentacles out, one of them going around Max’s waist to match his grip, another pair to gently massage his husband’s shoulders. ”What happened, Max?” he asked softly. ”Is James…?”

”James is…being reasonable. Sabine is willing to do what she must to apologize for her actions, and it appears James is willing to allow that to happen…so long as she's dampened. But ultimately it's her choice. Although, we could stand to issue a couple other dampeners to a certain couple given what the school found. But that's a discussion for later. For now, I have to gather her so she can apologize in private without her teams watchful eye's.”

Ben grimaced, sucking in air sharply through his teeth. He was never comfortable around power dampeners. He knew that they had their uses, and there were situations that called for them, but… It reminded him too much of the Purifiers - too much of the people who had killed him and so many others. And the thought of putting one on his son, given what the school had told them about… He couldn’t hide the way his tentacles trembled at the thought. ”If you’re putting a dampener on her, we should tell Vision. Make sure he knows she agreed to it.”

Max was relieved that Ben hadn't suggested contacting her parent , but Vision instead. He was right of course, he always was. But from the sounds of it, had he suggested it…if they had their way…their daughter would never be allowed to remove the thing. Not like Max would've told those Flatscans anything, Vision was always going to be his next form of contact. He could deal with their backwards ways and call on him if need be. He just nodded at Ben before taking a step back. ”I've got to go get her. No sense in letting James and Casper stew while we talk away.” He said before planting another kiss onto his husband's cheek and making his way over towards the kitchen. Max hung out at the doorway, one hand placed onto the wooden threshold as he looked in to all the kids together. For a brief moment, he swore he could see the entire underground standing there in their place. Glimpse, Sunshine, Casper, James, and all the rest he met along the way. A new wave of heroes, their future. He cleared his throat. ”Ms. Bassard? You ready?”

Sabine looked up from the others to Max. She inhaled and held it before letting it out. She nodded. ”Yeah, I’m ready. I’ll see you all later, maybe.” She let Leah go, but squeezed her hand before she smiled at the others: April, Percy, Andy, Vicky, Dorian, Danni. This might be the last time she sees them before the contest. But she said she would go through with this. She needs to. If she was going to show others she wasn’t the danger they saw her as, she needed to own up to the mistakes she made.

So she stood in front of Max, head held high. ”I’m ready.”

”Lets go then.” Max said as he motioned for her to move past him before making his way back upstairs alongside her. He paused at the door, placing a hand on her shoulder before whispering to her ”You've got this.” Before opening it.

Sabine felt something. It was a feeling she hadn’t had for a while. Not since her mother she was pretty sure. She reached for Max’s hand and held it briefly before he opened the door and she stepped through.

She saw Casper and James. She spent more time looking at Casper, hoping he wasn’t hurt either from anything she did in his memory (although she knew she didn’t mess with it) or from her…well let’s call it betrayal. She came into the room, but made sure she didn’t stand too close. Enough for them to see her fully. ”Hello Mr. and Mr. Kingston-Gray. First, I want to say that I am grateful you allowed me in your home initially. I know that had to have been a hard decision. That notwithstanding, I want to apolgoize further. To you, Mr. Kingston-Gray,” she said looking at Casper, ”For violating not only your mind but your trust. I truly did not intend harm, but intention doesn’t matter when harm is done. I let my emotions get the better of me and thought I knew better and that nearly hurt yourself as well as the others. I know my word means little in this moment, but I want to ensure to you that I did not mess with any of your memories or anything in your mind. Danni and Vicky can back me up, if need be. Be that as it may, I hurt you and I will do whatever I need to fix that.”

“And to you,”
she said to James, ”I hurt you as well. I will not make an excuse for my behavior because I messed up. I hurt someone you care for and didn’t take into account the damage even if things went perfectly. Just know that I care a lot about your children, Danni and Dorian,” she glanced back at Max, ”both of them have showed me kindness and understanding, even given theirs and your history. Even after this both of them showed me empathy and that is not only a testament of themselves but of you also.”

“So, I am willing to take whatever consequence you both deem appropriate. I can go back to the hotel if that is what you feel is best. I can get myself there also if that’s needed. But, again, I am truly sorry for what I did and will work on myself so I can do better next time.”

Casper generally had a hard time holding onto anger - at least, anger that was directed at others. Making the choices he had throughout his life required a certain amount of self-loathing, a certain desire to escape himself. As the kid came back up with Max, there wasn’t any rage in him - just discomfort, an urge to jump out of his own skin, the feeling of running straight into an electric fence (something he’d done dozens of times before). But as she spoke, the discomfort in him soured. Even if things went perfectly. Did the telepath understand? No. They never did understand. His father used to say similar things like that to him, as if that had any measure of comfort against his cruelty - as if locking a child inside a mausoleum was reasonable, as if anything he had ever done amounted to more than pride or scientific curiosity, never real affection or love. ”What did you think was going to happen?” he asked, blinking slightly. ”Did you think you were going to just… what, exactly? Make a different choice for me? Make me act in a way that would make you feel better?” His voice shook slightly. ”What were you trying to do? And why did what you want matter more than what I would want?”

There was another question he had, but he wanted the telepath to answer these ones, first. A familiar urge spiked within him - a way to make everything a little quieter, a little more peaceful.

Vicky would hear Sabine’s immediate thought, the one that popped up that she would hold off on, but it still showed up. "I expected James to lash out at me, but not Casper. He always seemed so kind. Am I really that scary? Max was wrong, perhaps I am no good to anyone."

Sabine expected this, the anger and the fight. It was deserved. ”I hoped to find out what seemed to scare you and..fix it. And that wasn’t right of me, because I shouldn’t take that choice from you, as you said. You had support there with everyone and I should have let that happen, but I thought I knew better. And I didn’t.”

“You stripped him of his autonomy, but I appreciate you acknowledge that as the concern it is. Dorian's powers have the same problem and it was the first thing we taught him. Yours, and his, are unique in that it really isn't something you can defend against. If someone ran at me with a knife, I could at least try to run or fight back but so often your powers go unnoticed until it's too late. Exerting your will over another person, unless it's a genuine emergency, is unacceptable.” James stepped into the conversation, hand still firmly on Casper's shoulder and squeezing gently. As furious as he was and as badly as he wanted to remove the threat, Sabine was still just a child and clearly genuinely apologetic. He worked to relax himself and keep his voice even and soft. “I am angry. Livid, really. But more so than that, I'm disappointed. Danni and Dorian said great things about you, how much you care, and how we'd be wrong not to at least give you a chance. And they were right. I can admit that my personal issues with telepaths definitely color my view on anyone with mental abilities and some I put my concerns for my family's safety aside on their word. You might only see me once or twice in your life but your friends stuck up for you, stood up to their family for you, and you let them down.” James sighed.

“Max vouched for you and I respect his word as much as I love my husband. I am willing to let you stay; you made a mistake and you don't deserve to be taken away from your friends. And personally, I don't think running from a problem will solve anything. Babes?” James turned the floor back to Casper, giving him the space to ask more questions.

Casper nodded slightly. His heart rate had accelerated, and it was the firm hand on his shoulder that kept him from falling apart. The siren song of his old solution hadn’t quieted, but he could move his thoughts from it - at least for now. If the kid had gone into his mind looking for what had frightened him, then she knew. ”What did you see?” What did my son see? That was the last question he had for her. He knew he’d been violated. He deserved to know how.

Sabine hadn’t quite expected the…calmness from James, though she knew there was an undercurrent of anger that wasn’t surfacing. Her thoughts rattled in her head. Casper was owed that answer, at least, especially as Danni had seen it too. ”At first, it was you in an alleyway, lying on the ground with marks on your body. An overdose. The memory moved on from there, though, after you woke up and shifted to a diner where they seemed to know you. That’s when we managed to get out. That’s all I saw though, I promise. And, as I said, I didn’t change or shift or add anything.” Though, again, how much was her word at this moment?

It appeared she'd viewed a memory of one of Casper's many overdoses. It was hard to tell which one, or how serious it may have looked to the kids. But the diner…that was an interesting part. Even Casper had barely gotten any memories of that place until he began to sober up. Max didn't think anyone was [i]meant[i] to see that place, and he'd hate to think of the implications that may have later on down the road. But he remained silent. He'd said his piece before Sabine had come up, it was her turn now and she seemed to be doing fine. Even James, with all the anger inside of him, saw that she was just a stupid kid that fucked up. Casper…well he was always an emotional one. But given enough time and distractions this too would pass out of his mind soon enough.

James blinked at the admission. Well, shit. “I hope this goes without saying, but I expect you won't circulate what you saw and you will encourage Victoria to keep her experience to herself as well.” James wasn't concerned about Danni. He'd probably forget it by the time he woke up tomorrow, honestly.

”If it’s important I will tell her to keep quiet about it. We aren’t the closest though, but I’ll stress the importance.” She wondered though.

”What was so important about some diner? There’s one around every corner.”

”If it’s important…?” Casper repeated, dumbfounded. ”You saw one of the - one of the most vulnerable times of my life. Something I haven’t shared with my children and I overshare aggressively. I….” He let out a breath. He was going to need to enact a portion of his safety plan tonight. His entire body was itching. He didn’t want to be in this conversation anymore. The more he heard, the more upset he felt.

Max stepped forward, standing slightly before Sabine but to her side. ”Casper, I don’t believe that's what Ms. Bassard had meant. It sounded to me as though she was prefacing that if it important to you both that she personally tells Ms. Van Dyne not to speak of what she saw, then she would. Even if those two aren't the closest of friends. I do not believe she had meant to make it sound as if she was downplaying a vulnerable moment in your life.” Max turned his head to look at Sabine. ”Did I get that right Ms. Bassard?”

Sabine was taken aback a bit. Almost everything she said was…being used against her. She assumed James would be the one to lash out at her, to take what she said with little regard and fling it back in her face, but not Casper. She bit back a retort, knowing full well she was in no place to get angry. Casper had every right to question her. ”Yes, that’s right. I didn’t mean to sound as if I didn’t value it. I just know Vicky tends to…speak about a lot of stuff on her mind, whether it’s warranted or not. But I will stress the importance of it and ensure her silence.” She was thankful to have Max there. She was sure if it was just her with James and Casper she would be a smoking husk on the floor, figuratively or not.

James took a look at the pair across from them and sighed. This really wasn't going anywhere. He pressed a kiss to the side of Casper's head. “Why don't you head to bed? I'll join you once we're done here, okay babes? I love you.” James suggested softly.

Casper hesitated for a moment, before nodding. The knowledge that the robot might go and share this thing about his life was… not great. Couldn’t she just delete it from her memory banks or something? ”Okay,” he mumbled, before putting a kiss on James’ forehead. ”I love you too,” he then glanced at Max. ”And you, bitch,” he told his other partner, before stepping from the seance room, holding his elbows with his hands as he headed down to his and James’ room.

James watched his husband leave and waited until the door shut before turning his attention back to the pair. “We appreciate the apology, but I can't offer you a way to fix this in just a few moments. Neither my husband nor I trust you and that isn't going to change for a while, Sabine. Our children clearly don't hold that same sentiment.” James settled back into his chair, one leg crossing the other and his fingers tapped on his knee. “I know your home life is difficult. I know you have difficulty making connections with others because of the stigma around your powers. If we did everything by the book, we'd need to contact the school about tonight's incident and then they would have to reach out to your parents and it would just escalate from there. I doubt you want that to happen and I'm happy to stick my neck out to keep this between us if you'd like.” James paused for confirmation from both Sabine and Max.

Max nodded a confirmation at James, but mouthed ‘talk to Ben' so that he understood he wasn't the one who needed convincing about sweeping it all under the rug.

Sabine breathed a sigh of relief. She hadn’t considered her parents finding out and, if they did, they would pull her from school and probably lock her up in some room that can’t be penetrated. ”I don’t expect there to be an easy fix, but I am willing to take a step towards it. What would you have me do to show that?” She looked at Max, assuming he knew what to do.

“Making it up to Danni and Dorian comes first. They're the people closest to you that you let down. To that end, you'll need to actually be here to do that. After Max talked to us before you came up here, I agreed I wouldn't ask you to leave despite that being my initial reaction; however, emotions are running high. It's the night before a huge competition, coupled with the news of your coach's death, and I'm sure there's plenty of nerves running around. I can fix anything the other kids can do, but I can't fix anything you do if you accidentally slip up. With that in mind and the fact that we don't want anything to escalate beyond this room, I am going to ask that you wear a power dampener while you stay here.” James explained. “Casper needs some time to recharge and stabilize after this so we'll be out off your space to keep some pressure off you, but this has to happen.”

Sabine was grateful for that, at least. She really didn’t want to leave everyone, but would have fully if asked. To that end; however, a power dampener. She pictured some high-tech collar that could be seen from space. She had heard of them before, of course. It had been talked about before with her stepmom, but she never had to wear one. ”Could I ask to see what it looks like?” She didn’t want to say no, but she also didn’t want to wear something that looked like the Red Letter A from the Scarlet Letter, if it could be helped.

Max looked towards Sabine, before taking a more casual stance and leaning up against a wall. ”Well that all depends on you. I can be a bracelet or necklace, you simply have to tell me you Vision or even show me a photo of what you would like it to look like and then I'll create it. Reality to my whim remember?” He said with a bit of a smile.

Sabine nodded, glad that it wasn’t going to be something so outlandish and obvious. She could handle an extra piece of jewelry. ”A ring would be nice. Something light pink to match the pajamas I brought? I am not picky on the design, I’m sure you can do something great.” Sabine caught herself getting excited and stopped. She didn’t want to appear flippant about this as it was still a serious thing. ”So yeah, I’ll wear it.”

“Good. I'd hate to disappoint Danni and Dorian. Max, if you'd please make something now.” James requested. He itched to get to his husband but he wouldn't be able to settle if he didn't see it go on her.

Max snapped his fingers, the clear sound resonating across the room as cosmic magic wrapped itself around Sabine's finger. A golden band with soft pink gems to accent it. Inscribed inside the inner ring of the band it would read ” We cannot change the way the world views us, but we can strive to prove them wrong.” ”There we are. One dampener in pink.”

Sabine looked at it on her finger, moving her hand to see it from different angles. It looked like your typical piece of jewelry. And it was cute. And it would, hopefully, put them at ease. ”Thanks Ma…umm Mr. Kingston-Gray. It looks nice.” She turned to face James now, showing him the ring. ”I know it doesn’t mean much right now, but thank you for giving me the opportunity to make amends. I will do so next with Danni and Dorian.”

Max couldn't help but chuckle a little. ”Im sorry im sorry. I know, serious moment. But uh, I'm Mr. Gray, he's Mr. Kingston. Separate names. Ben is a Gray and Casper is a Kingston.”

”Oh, I heard this was the Kingston-Gray household and assumed. I figured you all were so close that it was….oh god…” A blush appeared on her cheeks, hotter than ever before. ”I am so sorry for assuming! Umm, is there anything else you need of me before I put another foot in my mouth?”

”Youre fine kid. You won't be the last person to make that mistake i can tell you that much.”

“No, Sabine. Go have fun with your friends.” James nodded at her, but turned his attention to Max. “I'm going to make sure Casper is okay, but we'll probably need to talk with Danni soon. Send him to our room when you wrap up here, please.” James asked Max and then left quickly.

As soon as James had left the room, Max let out a sigh of relief. ”You did good kid, and if it wasn't for how high alert everyone is right now downstairs id probably suggest making up some horrific story about what had happened up here to see their reactions but I don't think that'd go over too well. So instead I think we should just head to the kitchen if you're ready.” Max said before making sure Sabine was ready to face everyone downstairs.

Sabine nodded, ”Yeah, I think we have all been through enough horror to last…oh until next semester,” she joked, knowing that something would inevitably happen at the school that would drag them all in. ”At least I got a nice piece of jewelry out of it.”

”Well we've kept you away from your friends long enough. So we should really head –” Mid sentence Max placed his hand on Sabines shoulder and BAMF'd them both downstairs. A small black hole appearing above the kitchen countertop as cold air filled the space before the pair would appear. Max sitting on the counter with his legs crossed. ” Oh hey everyone, what'd we miss? How're the shakes? And most importantly. Leah, did you find a favorite flavour yet?”

Sabine, despite being portaled a few times now, didn’t find it any easier. But, she was back in the kitchen with everyone and her nerves settled. She looked around, catching everyone’s eye and ensured she was okay. ”How was your first milkshake experience Leah?” Sabine asked with humor tinting her question. She was in a much better mood.

”Oh and Danni, James and Casper want to see you upstairs. Soooo skidaddle”

#de9b8f ....|..... outfit .....|..... party

The sweet, delicious smell of a crockpot of mischief forming. Both Azariah and Lily had their value in that. Azariah, the shapeshifter, the one who can be in different forms. Imagine the chaos. And now Lily. Sweet, succulent Lily. The purr of her name on Chariselle's lips was just right, like a kiss that left you wanting more.

And boy, did Chariselle want more. “Gorgeous. High praise coming from someone who looks like...you.” Oh, this one bites back. Venom laced with sugar. Chariselle glanced at Azariah, wondering if they thought the same of this new face. She interrupted something, evidently. Did she care? Not one fucking bit. After all Chariselle was made to be seen and heard and no matter of wall, personal or not, would stop her.

“You can call me Lily, or whatever you’d want. I’m easy,” the kitten paused to sip her beverage before continuing, “like that,”

Yes, this one was trouble with a capital T. And she was Mayhem incarnate so the two of them had to be friends. Call it fate, call it horniness, call it a fucking spade, but Chariselle had met a match for her. "Lily, then, an absolute pleasure. Were you named after the flower or is it short for Lilith, she of demonic origin? Either way, consider me intrigued." Chariselle noticed Lily's gaze centered on something else that wasn't her and, quite frankly, that could not be. So Chariselle turned to see, well, let's call it what it is....a sex show. Two people getting it on at the bar despite the crowd. Chariselle recognized the woman, seeing her before and falling slightly in love, now more so given her bold nature.

Credit where credit is due.

The man she was hooking up with though, not handsome in the traditional sense to be sure. Cute, but one wouldn't exactly write poems about him. He was like that nerd in high school you flirted with to get your term papers done so you can be off doing better things like doing Carter Maverick, the school's star quarterback, and having him take you to prom so you can be Prom Queen and dump him shortly after (he's working at McDonalds now, so bullet dodged there).

Chariselle continued to eye the show as it neared it's end and Lily brought up potentially not coming. "Well, I for one am glad you did. It doesn't seem like it's going to be boring here, if that was any indication. I'm no prude, but I think fun times like that should be...intimate," she said as she rubbed Azariah's arm. "Don't you think love?" She was addressing either of them.

"I could use a drink after that show. The thirst is real. Where did you say you got it from? Perhaps you can lead me there?" she said, proffering a hand. Either way, she needed to imbibe something.

Millicent

Location: Château de La Lune: Outside Hallway
Skills: Cold Reading

Millicent was, admittedly, stunned in silence. Thankfully, Doctor Tony got to work quickly examining the body. And it was a body, right? Renee was here one minute, gone the next. Millicent had mentioned it yesterday, but a part of her didn't really think someone would be dead. And, even if someone was going to die, she didn't expect Renee.

Millicent eyed Tony getting to work along with...Sam? That was an odd duo. Why was Sam getting involved at all? It wasn't like he spent any real time with Renee and, as far as she knew, he wasn't a detective. Unless he can speak to Renee's spirits, his skills seemed kind of useless. Interesting...

And then there was Eleanor. At first, Millicent had expected her to be the pinnacle of class in this moment. Instead, Millicent honed in on her hands, shaking. Eleanor may be trying to hide it, but Millicent knew the woman was upset. As Eleanor finished up she turned and headed back up the other set of stairs. Millicent quickly followed, avoiding the body and the others as she reached the woman. "Eleanor, are you okay? Do you need anything?"

The woman turned briefly to face her and, with the best straight face she could come up with, said, "No, I'm fine." A lie if there ever was one.

Millicent let her go now and turned back to the scene. There was one other person she didn't fully trust right now and he was examining the body. Dr. Tony, from what she could ascertain, was doing his job. She tried, but couldn't get a read from him. Again. That either meant he was being honest or he was able to hide his motives very well. Either way, she still didn't trust him.

So she stayed behind. If for no other reason than to make sure Renee was properly taken care of. She also wanted to speak to Sam. And..she looked around.

"Where's Miguel?" she asked no one in particular.
I don't know, I got more Prada or HERMÈS vibes from him :3

#f0e69f ....|..... outfit .....|..... party

To see someone in her sights get flutered gave Roxxy a tingly feeling. She smirked as Tess stumbled over herself catching her intention. It seemed she was interested, but didn't necessarily want to be rude to their new friend. Fine, Roxxy could wait. "I picked a cabin already when I arrived. Pointed at the map and it sort of...dinged and I guess I claimed it. Do we have to decorate it ourselves or does it come pre-stocked like an Ikea bedroom set? I didn't bring much with me apart from some clothes, but I figured a camp like this, set up to make sure the children of gods were comfortable, would have provided us with at least the bare necessities."

Truth be told Roxxy had packed enough for a short stay, uncertain if she planned on remaining here for long. Seeing Tess definitely made her want to remain for a little bit, but she still held uncertainty in her chest.

Forest, as sweet as he was, didn't take a hint or read the room and continued to be there. He provided alcohol though so Roxxy could overlook it for now. "Forest, Roxxy. So what do you like to do when you aren't bringing alcohol to get girls drunk?" She asked in jest, her tone clear she ment no ill-will. Forest didn't seem like the type where you needed to cover your drink around, though in her experience plenty of "nice guys" still expected something and she has had many "oh you're a lesbian, I can fix you" conversations that ended with broken bones to last her this lifetime and the next.

As the conversation continued Roxxy could feel the energy shift. Not in a bad way, per se, but sort of a 'something is happening that isn't quite right'. She looked around, not immediately fixing on anyone doing something unsavory until her eyes fell along two people at the bar. And were those people......oh fuck they were! Roxxy wasn't a prude by any stretch of the imagination and she respected a good, healthy sexual appetite as much as the next person, but surely that could be handled elsewhere. Maybe not necessarily back at a cabin, but at least off to the side somewhere?

"Ok, well, I don't know about you two, but that is sort of throwing me for a loop, so perhaps we can continue this conversation elsewhere?" She looked again, more mesermized than anything, and then her eyes fell back on Tess. Would this put a dent on their blossoming relationship? She really wanted to get to know her better and two horndogs who couldn't take 5 minutes to walk into a bush might have just ruined things for her.

Fuck.

Let's fuckin' gooooooooooo!
6 months prior

The tavern was alive with the sounds of people conversing after the long workday. There was an underlying thrum, almost like a heartbeat, alive/ Locals and travelers in equal measure were within the walls, drinks flowing to help alleviate all manner of woe and worry. Humans were the majority, but there were a few scattered elves and dwarves as well.

So when a Qunari woman entered the premises, along with a few others with her, the lull didn't die necessarily, but there were some questioning looks. Still, the people who worked there weren't about to turn down the gold spent, no matter who held it in their palms.

The Qunari woman made for an empty table along with her companions. After ordering a round for them, their conversation continued from before. No one was paying them much mind anymore, happy to get back to their drinks.

After some time, the voices around them quieted down. The Qunari woman looked up and glanced at the nearby patrons, unsure if something was happening. Soon, the quiet was filled with the strums of a lute. It started off slow at first, picking up as the meter went on. The Qunari woman clocked people's gaze and followed it to a corner of the tavern she hadn't noticed before.

In the corner stood an elf woman. She held a lute in her hands that she was playing, fingers strumming the strings intimately. The elf had long, blonde hair that fell behind her and delicate features that some god had blessed her with. Her eyes were closed as she played, but eventually they opened to reveal silver eyes trained on the crowd in front of her. And when her lips opened, a decadent voice filled the room with song. It was no surprise that the people here went silent.

The Qunari woman watched in awe. She had seen bards before, of course. One did not travel as much as she did and not enjoy a performance here or there. The elf woman though, there was a tenderness here. Raw emotion from her lips.

And did she...was that....the Qunari woman could have sworn the elf had seen her. No, there was no mistaking it. The bard was playing for the crowd, but she was singing to her. The Qunari woman leaned back in her chair, a smile spread on her face. It had been a minute since she enjoyed the attention of anyone.

Eventually, the song reached its finale and, upon finishing, the tavern applauded. The elf woman gave a bow and proceeded to head off to the counter, more than likely to pick up her pay for the day.

The Qunari woman watched her a bit longer, but started to focus back on her table when she heard voices. She looked back to see two human men had approached the elf woman. From the look on the elf's face, they were not standard fans. The Qunari woman could sense trouble (as she so often did) and stood up. One of her companions asked if she was okay, and she ignored them.

She approached the counter as if to ask for a refill when she could pick up more of their conversation. "-and I can show you a real good time, pretty. Come on." The elf woman didn't look upset or angry or disgusted. Instead, her attention was elsewhere, much to the annoyance of the two men. The Qunari woman wanted to speak up, but was silenced when a new voice spoke up. "I am not interested. Thank you." Silenced with a few, simple words, the elf woman picked up the coin purse that was left on the counter and turned.

And that was when the Qunari woman saw one of the men grab the elf woman's wrist.

"Eyy, I wasn't done talking to ya'" The man slurred his words. Much to the Qunari woman's displeasure, the elf woman fell back a bit, but didn't attempt to free herself. She took a step forward when the elf woman spoke up again. "Please unhand me before things get unpleasant." The Qunari woman stared in silence and the two men didn't much believe what they heard either. "And what are you going to do about it, elf bitch?"

The Qunari woman heard something slam on the counter and there was a beat of silence. She looked around to see if someone had thrown something or had punched someone when she heard the man who had just spoken scream bloody murder. She looked and saw a knife sticking out of his hand that leaned on the counter. The man continued to scream and tried to pull the knife out, losing his grip on the elf woman. The other man with him stared at his friend and then concern turned to rage as he ran right at her. The elf woman spun, grabbing hold of the man's arm and twirled him around, sending him careening into the wall on her left. The stabbed man had finally pulled the knife out and was bleeding when he turned the knife on the elf woman and lunged. The Qunari woman could have sworn the elf turned invisible briefly, but in a fluid motion, the elf woman had disarmed the man and spun behind him, planting the knife to his neck while holding his injured hand behind him. "I am going to let go of you now and you and your friend are going to leave. I suggest you find a healer for your hand and your headache. Do anything else and I will break more than just your wrist, starting with your manhood. Clear?" The man tried to fight, but found himself in an unwinnable predicament and, eventually, nodded defeat. The Qunari woman heard a crack as the man screamed and held his wrist. She fully expected them to round on the elf woman and try again, but credit where credit is due, the two men stumbled out of the tavern.

The elf woman picked up the knife and offered it to the tender at the counter. "I apologize for the mess. You can take it out of my pay, if that's fair." The tender shook his head. "Those two always cause trouble here and we've been looking for an excuse to ban them. Seems today is the day. Doubt they'd be back."

The elf woman nodded and stepped back from the counter and turned. The Qunari woman watched as she did and, again, could have sworn she caught her gaze. The elf woman looked at her and a hint of a smile appeared on her lips. The Qunari woman didn't need much more of an invitation as she got up from the bar counter and proceeded after her. "Wait, please. That was....incredible." The elf woman turned to face her now. "The song or the aftermath?" Her words were laced with humor. "Well, both if I am being honest. You handled them better than some of the men I've worked with. Name's Delilah," the Qunari woman said as she offered her hand. The elf woman took it, her touch warm and welcoming. "Giselle."

"Giselle, a beautiful name for a beautiful rose." The elf woman stepepd closer to Delilah, her breath almost tickling the Qunari's neck. "If I didn't know any better, Delilah, I could swear you were flirting with me. Is it true what they say about Qunari and how they perform in bed?" The words came out hot and intense. "Depends, did you want to find out?" The elf woman leaned in closer, her breath on Delilah's ear. "My room."

Delilah had made her way into one of the rooms of the tavern, a spacious affair that Delilah took to mean the bard had performed here before. The elf woman had excused herself but told Delilah to make herself comfortable. So Delilah had set her things down and proceeded to undress. "Been a while, I am afraid. But I needed this."

"Happy to help however I can. You must be busy."

Delilah had removed her top as she continued. "Running the band I do gets exhausting, but worth it. They are knuckleheads sometimes, but they are mine. We travel a lot so there's hardly ever time to rest."

Delilah heard the patter of bare feet behind her as the elf woman entered the bedroom proper. "You must have some stories to share."

"Oh yes. We've seen it all. I remember one time a bit ago, or was it a few weeks...well it doesn't matter. But someone had hired an assassin to kill me. I'm used to it at this point. But I'd like to think of myself as a good reader of people so I was able to spot them pretty early on and foiled their little plan. Had to kill them, couldn't let the insult go on, and it worked out well in the end as I needed a new thrall to do some of the grunt work I didn't want to."

Delilah heard the elf woman's footsteps approach as she continued, "So, who hired you?"

The footsteps stopped as Delilah turned to face the elf woman, who had unsheathed a dagger that, Delilah had to admit, was hidden nicely within the elf woman's undergarments. To her credit, the elf woman didn't appear taken aback. "This isn't my first, nor do I expect it to be my last. We're at a standstill. I may not have my clothes or weapons but I can handle myself with the best of them. I also expect you can handle yourself well also. So, instead of brawling it out with one of us ending up dead on this nice floor, why don't we skip all that? I am sure your life is worth more than whatever the bounty is."

The elf woman stood a moment, before she threw the knife across the room. "What gave me away?"

"Well, admittedly not much. Your body language was flirtatious, but your eyes held something darker. Also, I was the only Qunari in here and I know from experience we aren't the immediate fixation of strangers, beautiful or not. Your name isn't Giselle either, I take it?"

The elf woman shook her head. "I do not know who my employers are. They appeared one day wearing grey cloaks that covered their face. They had red markings along their arms. They claimed you were a murderer who had killed a nearby village and burned it to the ground with families locked in their homes. I take it that was a lie." It wasn't a question, more confirming the fact.

"I won't pretend my hands are free of blood, but those I gut deserve it. If I had to wager, those people were the ones who attacked the village, probably in some magic ceremony or ritual."

The two women stood in front of each other. The elf in a silky number and Delilah in nothing but her confidence. "So, perhaps instead of getting sweaty and bloodied from trying to kill each other, we can occupy our time with something equally as entertaining."

The elf woman smirked. "I take it you have something in mind?"

Delilah grinned. "Oh, I think I do."

They laid there, breathless, sheets on the bed tangled in awkward angles. Delilah rested her arm over her chest. "So, do I even get to know your name?"

The elf woman, taking a few moments to catch her breath, spoke up, "Fleur."

Delilah nodded, "Fleur. You certainly know what you are doing. I take it those skills are part of the job?"

"Perks. I can do more, but we only just met."

"Maker's tits, that wasn't everything? Great work."

"Not so bad yourself." Fleur sat up and stood, her naked form for Delilah to take in again. Fleur strode forward, grabbing her discarded garments as she did. Delilah sat up now, taking her in. She had a few thoughts (when her mind wasn't being distracted elsewhere) and their awkward exchange was now a blurred memory. She had weirder requests and it wasn't like she didn't have plenty in her ranks who towed the line or morality.

"So, Fleur, how would you like a permanent job?"

present day

Fleur had arrived back from scouting the nearby area. She had given her report to some faceless entity that existed in the ranks; she couldn't be damned to remember his name. She settled herself in her little camp, wiping some sweat off her brow. Delilah and the others would be convening to discuss the next steps.

Fleur didn't enjoy the planning or the meetings or whatever. She wanted action. No, she craved it. Sitting around idle made her tense, so she often found herself practicing on some test dummies or sneaking around to see if she could be spotted (no one found her yet. It was like the ultimate game of hide and seek). She also maintained her music, singing and playing her lute for others if they wanted.

She proceeded to walk around, taking note of the air of concern that permeated everything. It seems she wasn't alone in her worry. Whatever was going to happen, it was not going to be pretty.

She wanted nothing more than to head back to her bed and close her eyes until she was needed, but she had a feeling she was going to be grabbed sooner rather than later. Still, she wouldn't make it easy. She proceeded towards where Delilah and the others were and snuck in, blending herself into the shadows. She crept along as she heard voices, some she recognized and some she did not (more so because they were men and Fleur did all she could to not speak to a man unless she absolutely had to).

She heard her own name and paid closer attention. Seems she was to be useful and she did so enjoy hearing her name on Delilah's lips.

Fleur left, heading back to her own little piece of paradise and awaited the word. She expected things to get very exciting, very quickly. So better she rested when she could.
Sabine Bassard

Location: The Kingston-Gray Household
Skills: N/A
Powers: N/A

Sabine didn't quite know what to expect when she came to and Max had grabbed her, but after their conversation she was feeling much better.

Max made a circular motion with his right hand, a portal made of stardust rippling before them much like what the students who were staying with the Kingston-Gray's first saw when arriving to New Orleans. Those within the kitchen would be able to see the Palace structure behind Sabine and Max. Sabine however could see the kitchen and those inside it awaiting on the other side. Max placed his hand on her shoulder gently before urging her to go in. "I'll go speak to them, just try and relax. You're in a household surrounded by friends, I'll come get you when I'm done ok?" He offered her a warm smile and then he was off, quickly approaching the Seance room upstairs.

Sabine stepped through the portal into the kitchen, where she saw the others. She intended to make up for her actions, on purpose or not, to James and Casper, but she had not planned on how she would interact with the others. Danni seemed fine while they were trapped, but who knows how he felt now? Dorian probably hated her and April would be more concerned for Danni. Andy and Percy were there, which helped, though she wondered how the two of them felt after finding out she had almost hurt one of their guardians for the night as well as taking Vicki and Danni on a little adventure. The only saving grace was when her eyes landed on Leah.

She stood a moment, taking her in. She would have to talk to Leah about it, about what happened. If for no other reason than to have a relationship built on trust.

Sabine walked over to Leah and wrapped her arms around her. She just needed that moment before things quickly got worse. "Hey," she said. Once she was satisfied, Sabine let go.

She turned to where a colorful assortment of drinks was prepared. "Milkshakes, I could use one. Which one's mine?"
