Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

It seems that they were all planning to team up. It was smart, even if one of them was some blackmailer or murderer, it stood to reason that not everyone here was up to something nefarious and now that all, or at least most, of the cards were on the table, it meant they were all at the same level.

Plus, with each of them watching the other, it meant that if something did happen to one of them, blame would fall on the person they were paired with. Except for Sam, which was interesting. She didn't know if leaving him to move around with the others was the best idea. She may have trusted Sam before, and she still did, but she believed Sam wasn't a murderer, at least as far as Renee was concerned. For all she knew, Sam had murdered Miguel or was responsible for the blackmail.

"I think that's the best plan we have so far. If we are going to cover the house and the family and staff, we should have a plan. It's going to look odd that we are walking around randomly, asking questions. If we split up there's less chance of the family or staff conversing with each other about what we are doing. I'd like to speak to Eleanor again, if possible. Sam, who did you want to go with to start?" She wanted him to pick now so she knew where he would be.

Cassie fought off a blush as Cal got ever so close to her, pinpointing her efforts in trying to impress Professor Mikkail. "Oh wow, he's so close to me now. Don't smell him, that would be weird. Look smart, look sophisticated, look like you belong here my goodness his eyes, you could just get lost in them....no FOCUS, Cassie, you are here to learn about magic and how to use it," Cassie's inner monologue was going haywire.

As she se foot in the library, Cassie was overtaken with a new sensation: absolute wonder. She had expected the library to be wondrous, but didn't quite know how to picture it. As much as she wanted to maintain focus on Cal's features, Cassie found it hard to focus on anything other than the sheer knowledge in front of her.

Cal quickly gave off assignments, and Casse figured he knew best in this situation. She and Willow were tasked with various information gathering, while Nick and Cal went off alone together, and Cassie fought off a wave of envy. She had known the two of them were....close. Closer than her mind would allow her to perculate. Perhaps if she found the information asked for, not only would she impress Professor Mikkail, but Cal also and he would forget about whatever Nick offered him and allow her to permeate his....thoughts.

So, she got to work. She quickly found a lot of information. The Witch Trials, she knew, was a heavy topic with tons of research done about it. It only made sense a school for magic would have tons of texts about it (though, she noted, some of the scrolls seemed to be made of... human flesh? She quickly avoided thinking about that too heavily). Still, the sheer amount of information was sure to be helpful, so she gathered as many texts as she could hold and walked over to a nearby table, laying it out.

What she hadn't found so easily was any mention of Krodha. What that had to do with anything wasn't immediately apparent, but Cassie thought more about it. Was it a planet that the Professor came from? It would stand to reason that was why Cal was so interested. Plus, it could serve Cassie well to understand her professor more. It occurred to her that Krodha might be what people outside of the planet called it, but it would not be in the original language used. She knew from some experience with astral charts and planet alignment (her parents forbade it as "whimsical nonsense") that it might be easy to find such information in the Astronomy section.

Cassie quickly made her way over and began scanning the section. Cross-referencing the materials in front of her, she was able to quickly find the information she needed. It seemed the planet, in the original tongue, was named Auril. Now that she had it in hand, she began to walk over to the table she had piled the history texts on when she decided, no, this was important. Cal wanted to know more about the planet and she had found something. So she decided to surprise him as she made her way over to the language section. "He's going to be so impressed with me!"

There was something about Chase that reminded her of something. Sabine leaned back in the seat, glancing over at Leah with her big shit-eating smirk. Sabine stuck her tongue out in retaliation. Leah did not seem to vibe with Chase and, admittedly, first impression was not great.

But if Chase was telling the truth, he had known Percy early on. Perhaps the two had a jokey friendship? Percy didn't seem into it, though.

"What the fuck are you doing Sabine? You know how this plays out. That boy is corrupt, as the song went. Stop thinking with your lower half."

Perhaps it was the high of the win still, the fact she had earned a sizeable paycheck she planned to cash in soon. Perhaps it was being close to her friends. Perhaps it was something in the air, the night.

And what of Leah? The two of them had never spoken about exclusivity when they had April with them. And even then, it never was a topic. Was their relationship open? Surely the two of them would have to agree on matters like that. Didn't Leah speak about marriage during their slumber party and didn't it freak Sabine out? Was she ready to put down roots or did she still want to flourish?

Whatever the case may be, she was young, she was hot, and this was a fucking fantastic night. So fuck it.

"I don't know your history with Percy, Chase. For all I know, you are telling me sweet nothing lies, and you were actually a real fucking asshole to him. It seems like he wanted nothing to do with you. I, however, am not Percy. I am Sabine fucking Bassard and I am one of the winners of the motherfucking Contest of Champions so know that if I find out you are in fact fucking lying to me I will spend the entite day in that pretty head of yours doing all sorts of nasty, dirty things until you are nothing but a piddling mess on the ground crying for mercy. I hope that I made myself abundantly clear. Now," Sabine stood up and maneuvered around Leah and Chase, extending her own hand, "Let's dance!"

Sabine waited for Chase, but she looked over to Leah. "You coming with?"

Millicent laughed at Danni's antics. She forgot how silly and unabashedly himself he was. This school transfer was sure to be a good thing. Right? "Yep! Got my powers a little big ago. Probably saw the video of it. You know, the one with the big guy who stormed the stage to like...hug me or something. Still don't know what he wanted but yeah, sure enough he got close and poof! I was gone! Well, still there, but gone. And was protecting myself with a force field. Storm came after that. Lotta people angry over it, though mainly here in the states. Canada is a bit cooler, but still. Rents and rent adjacents felt it might be best for me to be amongst people like me, learn what I can."

Millicent focused her attention on the others now. "Umm, yeah Danni I know who they are. I watched the entire contest. And even if I didn't, the Young Avengers are supes popular on the socials. Pretty sure I even invited them to come on stage one performance but they never answered my call. But we're here now, let's party!"

She stood up with some of the others, but a little mishap wound up on her clothes. "Ah, good thing I can turn invisible huh? Makes having a bad hair day a breeze sometimes." She boogied over to America. "Girl, you know I love to dance. Only way to prove it is on the dance floor and, perhaps, a DANCE BATTLE? It's so on!"

As Millicent made her way over April, who had finally unlatched herself from the other girl, had come over. April appeared starstruck, but recovered. She would have to get used to that, she assumed. "April! Hello, girl, how are you doing? I feel like I know so much about you already. Yeah, I'll be coming to school with y'all next semester. We'll have to tour the place. You can tell me all the cool spots. And of-fucking-course I hug! I'm related to Danni and Dorian. Get in here!" Millicent pulled April in and gave her a tough, warm squeeze. "You all did so good during the contest! I want to hear all about it, but I believe the dance floor is calling my name!"

"I don't know, but if he does bother Percy anymore, I think we have a whole room that would step in. Hell, we have all the adults here who probably wouldn't stand for it, even if you or Andy steps away." Sabine didn't really want things to devolve into a fight, physical or otherwise. They were here celebrating a win, they had people here that cared about them, they were vibing with the Young Avengers (or Andy and Danni were, at the very least).

Sabine looked over to see another unfamiliar face. She appeared to be some skater girl in style and probably substance. And April made a beeline for her. While Sabine couldn't hear what was being said, body language suggested the duality of shooting shots and Sabine felt....weird. April had kissed her twice for no reason and now here she was, flirting with someone new. Sabine was happy, proud even, but it also felt...fuzzy.

Sabine was feeling fuzzy overall. She wanted to let loose and celebrate but she also felt like she needed to keep her defense up. Make a show of being Leah's girlfriend because damn she was trying, but the two of them hadn't talked after the contest and there was still some weirdness. She also wanted to talk to April.

Leah made a comment and Sabine heard the words 'Millie' and 'Broadway' and turned to look. Sure enough, the pop princess that dominated her Spotify playlist was standing there, looking around. Accompanying her were some other people, two of whom were identified music icons of their own. Sabine took a beat to ensure she was seeing things correctly. "Holy shit, you're right! What is she doing here?"

Sabine nearly bounded from her seat, but she stopped when she sensed someone else nearing her. She turned and saw the edgy guy from before, the one who seemed to be pestering Percy. Before she knew it he was complimenting her and kissing her hand. Sabine felt warmth in her cheeks and instantly felt guilty. She took her hand back, though not aggressively, and took a deep breath. "Well, thank you, I guess. But I think the team did more than I. I'm Sabine. I don't think I've seen you around. Are you new? You seem to know Percy, who is a good friend of mine." The last part was a hint, almost a warning: choose your next words carefully.

It seemed she would be expected to fend for herself as her aunts and uncle interacted with various other patrons. Thankfully, she heard the telltale octave of her cousin, by love not blood, Danni. She hadn't seen him in a long while and that was on her. Grinning with anticipation she made her way over to him and awkwardly hugged him as he was currently in the lap of one very cute guy. "Danni! How is my favorite cousin! Don't tell the others!" she said, jokingly.

"I forgot you tend to do rapid round questions. I hope I can answer them all. Life is a little chaotic, not gonna lie, but we do our best. Rents are....well I tend to spend most of my time with my aunts and uncle, they actually brought me here. I was watching the contest the whole time and, umm, hello badass! The way you handled that Entity thing was nothing short of spec-fucking-tacular! Your whole team did amazing! And...I'll be so real Danni, I do not know what a She-Ra is. Unless it's some new band I haven't kept up with much else. You'll have to tell me all about it over some food. You said gumbo?"

Millicent pulled up a chair, not wanting to push anyone out so she sort of...sat hovering nearby. "Oh, since we're here I may as well share the news. I will be joining you all at school! Super excited for it. Maybe you and Dorian and April can show me around? Where are they, by the way?" she asked, glancing around as she identified where April was. "Oh, let's not bother her. Look's like she's trying to get some. You go April!"

Sabine rubbed her chest where America had sacked her, still feeling the pushback she got at that moment. Thankfully the healers did wonders and there was no bruising or broken ribs. "Hey, it was the Contest. I would be angrier if you held back. Though if I got a nasty bruise and couldn't wear any of my cute outfits I would have had to murder you. So it worked out!"

Sabine had tried to joke around but it seemed Andy had other plans. It warmed Sabine up to see Andy....unleash? Was that a good word for it? When she first met Andy it was, admittedly, not the best moment for her, but even when she apologized and became friends Andy always seemed guarded, uncertain, not allowing anyone in for the most part. As they worked together Sabine noticed the shield drop. Whatever was going on, Andy was in a good place.

And now she was in an even better one with America and Gideon. And who knew what else.

Everyone was trickling in now. Sabine glanced at April, uncertain how to approach her. Sabine wanted to talk to her. Needed to, if she were being honest. Sabine enjoyed those kisses despite the uncertainty of where they came from. And she was also upset. How do you break up with someone and then kiss them twice?

On top of that, it was...weird with Leah too. Sabine didn't hate Leah, she wasn't even angry at Leah (well...not as angry as she was), but things were still awkward. She felt the strong arm around her and Leah nudging her, moving her slightly around. Typical girlfriend bullshit, which on any other day would have made Sabine elated that Leah was trying. But it felt...forced?

Sabine eyed the food. She hated seafood. But she had to eat something. "Yeah, I could eat. I am sure they have something here that hasn't swam in water recently." She felt slightly guilty as they were in New Orleans, which was partially famous for their seafood, but she couldn't stomach it. Or perhaps it was the situation as a whole.

Sabine felt a presence just then as her eyes lifted to someone new. Someone she hadn't seen before. Whoever the new figure was, he felt intense. She watched him stroll over to Percy, who didn't seem to want to be anywhere near anybody else, but especially the new guy. Sabine felt an instinct to stand up and walk over, ensure Percy would be okay, but Andy, fresh from her dalliance, walked over and stared the guy down.

Still, Sabine was uncertain. "Hey, do you know who the new guy is? I don't know, I get a bad feeling, especially with Percy. Keep an eye on him."

Sabine desperately hoped for some type of distraction.

It had been the first time Millicent watched a performance.

Or at least, one of the first she could remember. She didn't think she ever attended a concert or a play or a musical in her childhood. Her father was always too busy and her mother....well that door was better left closed.

So when her uncle and aunts invited her to come watch the Contest of Champions featuring a team from the school she would be attending, she couldn't pass up the opportunity. What she hadn't expected was to be left in the city alone. She arrived at the hotel as scheduled, but her family was nowhere to be seen. Apparently they had gotten to the wrong hotel, leaving her to fend for herself.

And let's be so fucking for real, Millie could handle herself just fine. She had played sold out stadiums, she had walked along red carpets in dresses that no human woman should ever wear (seriously they had to know women had internal organs too that didn't like being squeezed into ill-fitting costumes that even her great-great-great-grandmother would balk at), she had faced a crazed fan and lived to tell the tale.

Well, she lived, at least.

Thankfully she had reunited with her loved ones and was able to watch the contest in the stands. She had remained invisible due to not wanting to take attention away from the teams. Though she had to admit, the show they put on was stellar. The Hex Girls were a quick favorite of her's, though she was rooting for Team Excelsior to go all the way (she may as well show some school spirit early on).

And sure enough, they had defied the odds and won. Millicent noted some of the team had opted out, which felt sort of....well it was understandable, but it was also boring. A performer knew the show went on, trauma be damned. But she also commended them for understanding their limits. Goddess knows she could learn a thing or two about that.

She walked the streets to the Court of Two Sisters where the Young Avengers and Excelsior were partying at. She had heard the Hex Girls were throwing their own shindig and she kind of wanted to be there, but she also knew this would be a good opportunity to meet her classmates and get to know them before school started.

They entered and dropped the invisibility. "That's an interesting scent in the air. So, we doing introductions or are we throwing me to the wolves?"

"Renee definitely read the message. I believe she came here looking for her father, but did not know who it was. She was sent the message about it being Richard after coming here. She may not have even confronted him, she could have easily asked Eleanor or any of the children. Hell, even the staff. Any of it could have gotten to Richard through the grapevine."

"I think there are multiple people at work here, but regardless, we need to keep our wits about us. I believe I have my message in my room still. It was written on a newspaper printout. We should be cautious though, it might look suspicious if we all continue moving around as one big unit. We haven't exactly endeared ourselves to each other within view of the family and it may look odd that we are so buddy-buddy now. Not suggesting we all split up, but definitely need to cut the group down the middle, at least."

Millicent wondered if sharing the info was right, but it was too late now. She didn't trust everyone here still, though she was fairly confident none of them murdered Miguel, at the very least. Renee on the other hand was to be determined.

Cassie did her best to hide it but she was definitely excited to check out the library. If there were any pleasures she was allowed at home that were allowed by her parents, it was books. Cassie imagined the library here held so much knowledge about magic and all of it that she could get lost for hours.

She stood at Nicholas' prompting and followed him and Cal out of the room, noting that Willow stayed behind. Cassie was starting to feel a little guilty for how she was behaving towards her new friend. Perhaps this would be a good time to talk. Study together and discuss some things.

She followed Nicholas and Cal, mainly because she didn't know where the library was (not to mention she had a really good view from behind Cal....no Cassie, hold those thoughts, knowledge first, extracurriculars after) and she overheard their conversation. Glowing? She supposed Professor Mikkail was flamboyant enough, practically walking on air. Cal would know him better though. "He seems like such a fun professor! Is this the first time either of you worked under him? Anything a new student should know?"

She looked back to see if Willow had followed. She felt a tinge of guilt trying to weasel out insider info from those who were here before, but she would share......depending on the information.
