Bio

Well now that I got the customary "post once" requirement out of the way....

HELLO

Welcome to my safe space. Well, about as safe as one space can be, I guess. If you are here looking for something, I am very sorry to disappoint you, but I made fresh cookies! Come sit a spell.

I guess I'll do some more in-depth stuff about myself. My name is Nick and I am 35 years old living in Illinois. I am a therapist and clinical responder (which is a fancy way of saying I go out on police calls to provide mental health assistance). Been doing therapy for a few years now and I absolutely love it!

I am a gay, cisgender man. I came out in January 2020 (smack dab in the middle of a pandemic. Timing was always my downfall). There is still much I am learning, but I am proud and happy to be who I really am and not have to hide it anymore!

I am an avid gamer, especially roleplaying games (cue surprised and shock noises). I also enjoy writing and reading, especially mysteries. I am not new to roleplay, I promise. I have been doing it for years now in different formats. I am experienced, even if it doesn't seem like it.

I use humor as a coping mechanism for sure, but I also like laughing and enjoying myself. Life can be pretty sad and upsetting for the most part and I don't want to add to it.

Whew! That got deep!

I will be poking my nose around in spaces and hoping to jump headfirst into this. Some interests I have in terms of roleplay settings include superheroes, DnD, science fiction/fantasy, mysteries, thrillers, horror stuffs, apocolypse, and espionage. And I am a fan of most things pop culture. If you have any suggestions or possible roleplays you think I would love, please let me know.

Otherwise, stick around! This is gonna get wild!

Millicent hated to admit it, but a part of her felt bad for Richard. Insofar as she could feel bad for any wealthy person. If Richard was telling the truth, he had no idea Renee had existed until recently. But that meant that whoever sent the text knew about Renee and Richard.

Millicent paused a second and replayed what Richard had said. Something about it was off. He knew what Renee was doing for work, but then he said he only found out about her last night. So either Richard was getting things messed up or he was lying. But...that was a pretty obvious lie.

Millicent hasn't had much experience with people struggling with memory. But it seems like Richard isn't aware. Millicent got the sense that when Richard referenced last night he didn't mean actual last night, instead he meant some time ago. Which means that Renee and Richard's connection was known for some time, at least.

She hated to push, but this information was starting to put things together. "Richard, I know it's painful, but if you truly cared about Renee and her mother, I need your help so we can find out what happened. Do you know who nominated Renee to come here? Or who made the final decision to ensure she makes it here? Was it Eleanor?"

Imogen was not afraid to see a dead body. She had seen many before. Lost relatives, friends, etc. But also ones that were delicately swept under the rug. She recalled one in particular. A famous doctor in London had been having an affair, one she was tasked with ensuring didn't get out for a few reasons. One, because the doctor was a lesbian in a very conservative family. Two, because the woman she had been seeing was a pro-choice advocate with staunch beliefs that went against what the good doctor spoke about. And three, because the doctor was also racit as fuck and was sleeping with a Black woman.

Who was lying dead in the doctor's bathroom. After the doctor caved her head in.

The reason? Well, one as old as time. Greed. The woman had plans to blackmail the doctor, airing their relationship, sure to to damage to the doctor's reputation, her finances, her properties, her ability to do basically anything anymore.

Imogen may not have liked the doctor. In fact, she detested the woman. But a job was a job.

So no, Imogen did not balk at the sight of some corpses. It did not mean she didn't feel for them, but she knew the job needed doing. So she followed Sam and Dr. Soraya. Imogen was starting to greatly respect Soraya as this went on. The woman was in her element. They were nearing the target as Sam went on.

She remained silent, letting the two of them carry on to the fourth floor. They entered a room, Imogen doing her best to trackthe target with Soraya's tech. As she asked for information, Imogen noted something. The target was nearby. In fact....

It was in the room.

Time sped up as a figure, darkened in shadows, swung a piece of furniture at Soraya, knocking her to the ground in an, albeing hilarious, display. Imogen looked up to catch who did it. She had no weapons, no means of defending herself. Imogen held her hands up. "Hey, there's no need for that. It's over. Now, we can walk out of here calmly and safely or we can do it the hard way. Either way, you aren't leaving here without some course of action. I can help ensure that is, at least, done with your well-being in mind. So, what's the plan?" She asked that question, but looked over at Sam.
I can post later when I am at work.

Cassie was a little upset that Willow and Cal wouldn't be joining them, though she supposed she couldn't blame Willow given how much she had been going through lately. In truth, Cassie wasn't thrilled to be investigating a beheaded corpse, but if she wanted to remain here and show the others she could hold her own she needed to be ready for anything.

Plus, Jake would be coming and he was a good time. Connie was also someone she wanted to get to know a bit more. Cassie eyed Nicky who intended to speak more wtih Cal and she couldn't help but feel jealous. She shook it off.

Following the others, but mainly Rohan who seemed to know his way around, (and ignoring Jake's comment on knowing how to handle dead people's body parts), she tried to summon a light with her magic, but the only thing she did was create a pink aesthetic light in her hand. "No luck with light here. Sorry."

The fact the school even had a dungeon was not lost on her, but he school was full of mysteries. "What exactly would be down here? Apart from a beheaded corpse and spiderwebs?" She tried not to let the fear into her voice, but she was nervous. Still, she had something to back herself up with in case something happened.

But damn it, she wished Cal was here.

Sabine wasn't thrilled to hear that Chase was in another altercation, this time with actual, physical violence involved. Though she knew Chase was not the enemy he was painted out to be, she sort of hoped that there would be a break in between chaos. "I don't think any of them can get their way out of a paper bag at this point without intervention. Seriously, Dr. Whitehall is gonna have a field day."

They were interrupted by the sounds of screams and Sabine did a quick scope of the scene, because for all she knew, they were being attacked by some supervillain because when wasn't this school in some sort of jeopardy? As she looked up with Leah to connect the screams with faces she saw Danni and April flying through the sky on a tube. Sabine watched it soar. Were they having fun?

Leah didn't need much convincing as she grabbed Sabine and pulled her to the tubing station. Sabine was unsure she wanted to face potential injury and/or death at this juncture, but perhaps it would be a welcome distraction to scream her head off rather than worry about everyone else. Sabine went to tell Leah such and she noticed Leah staring at someone. Leah confirmed her thought that the girl was a Giant also. Sabine didn't recognize her. Sabine also knew Leah didn't have a whole lot when it came to connections to her home.

"You should go talk to her." There was an implied choice of if Leah wanted Sabine to come or not. Sabine knew that someimes you needed to have something that was just your own.

Well the girl was talking and not threatening her or indicating violence, so this was a win in Millicent's book. "I mean, I don't know, you were in some ice container with shining cracks all throughout. It's how I found you. I figured you would know since normally people aren't put in ice forts without their consent, I assume. Although I guess bad people would do that, but surely you would know or remember, right? Anyway, umm this is a school for superpowered teens. The Margaret Carter Institute. And you are....on Earth? In America? Not sure how far you want me to pull back from that."

She felt her phone buzz and read the text from Dorian and Danni. Did Dorian assume she didn't know who Luna Snow was? The two of them had met once before, briefly, but it was still fun and of course she went to her concerts and listened to her songs. She shot off a response.

Millicent followed, but not too closely as to not overwhelm the girl. "Hey wait! Look, if you're confused or lost it might be best to stick around and try to figure out what happened. I have some friends coming over, maybe we can figure it out together. Also, are you hurt at all? I can't imagine being frozen like that was good for you health-wise."

Millicent knew she hit the nail on the head and a part of her felt the thrill of connecting the dots. Richard appeared emotional, moreso than she had expected or witnessed from him. The patriarch falling off the throne. Millicent wondered how much of this Eleanor knew. She had to know, surely.

As Richard got up Millicent followed, casting a glance to Brendan seeing if he intended to follow them also. Before she could reach to stop him, Richard stumbled and got back into his seat. Millicent remained standing, staring at the man. His emotional walls were down now and she could see it fully.

Richard was grieving. But it wasn't just for Renee. Bringing up Renee's mother had brought up more feelings. Deep, painful feelings. The emotional wreckage of the memories were laid bare. Richard had loved Renee's mother. No amount of hiding it would do any good. "You loved her, didn't you?" Millicent left the 'who' anonymous, as it could be for Renee or her mother.

"Is that why she was brought here? She was looking for someone. Was that you?" Her words were not accusatory. If anything, Millicent felt bad. She didn't think Richard had any intention of all of this happening. This didn't seem like the grief of a man who killed his potential daughter. This was the grief of a man who missed an opportunity.

Imogen quickly followed as Dr. Soraya utilized the briefcase she had only just handed off to Imogen. The technology was impressive and Imogen made a mental note to see if she could learn to access it for a later date. But for now, they needed to find the reporters. One was seemingly on the fourth floor, whereas the other was in the van.

Or, their phone was.

Imogen looked at the phone handed off to her. On it was a bunch of missed messages. One from the intern that Imogen was more concerned with. She had ideas lined up for how to handle them, but the situation was growing more concerning. She pocketed the phone. "I can handle the story, but we need to find them. The sooner, the better." Especially the intern. If she wasn't found and quickly taken care of, then all further attempts at concealing all of this would go out the window.

Whitney was a whistleblower. Or, at least, she was historically. It was concerning that the girl didn't have much of a social media presence under the guise of her current name. But if one did a little more digging, it showed that 'Whitney' had quite the history of spreading information. Imogen was almost impressed. She would hire her if she wasn't actively looking to silence her.

She followed Soraya and Samatha, but at a fair distance. She wasn't trained in combat, she had no weapon apart from a sharp tongue. But she needed to be ready to unleash data hell on the reporters should they be trouble.

And Whitney, or whatever her name was, was trouble with a capital T.

Cassie decided to ignore Barty from that point forward. If he wanted to be crass and boorish, that was his prerogative. Instead, her attention was kept on Cal and Willow. Whatever Willow had felt from eating the meat, it led to her ill feelings. Which meant she was justified in her not wanting to partake in it. She was content.

Cal offered to gather some tea to help Willow and invited her to join. Cassie had to admit it made her heart flutter for a moment until she remembered the annoyed glance and the blatant lack of involvement back in the library. She had spoken to Willow about her feelings, but not to Cal. He was being especially nice, but did that lend to him actively wanting to enjoy her company more or was there more underhanded things at play? Especially as she did not trust Nicky or Barty, and their closeness to Cal made her wary.

But she wanted to help Willow, and perhaps using her magic with this book will be useful. "I can take a look at the book if you think it will help." Her attention wavered a bit, though. Admittedly, when she wanted to join this school, she never expected to be near someone's beheaded corpse. And she had to admit her curiosity was piqued. "Could I come as well?" she asked Connie, and by extension, everyone else who was going to go investigate.

Sabine wanted nothing more than to turn her brain off for the rest of the day and enjoy the winter activities lined up with her girlfriend. To forget the world for the briefest of moments so she could snuggle into Leah's arms, sipping hot chocolate that isn't used to make an ice fort, and pretend she was normal.

But she knew she couldn't.

"No, we'd better get over there. Hopefully it's been resolved, and I don't need to do damage control, but just in case I do I would rather see and get all sides of the story so I know how to handle it." If Andy was involved, then perhaps it was one of the new people who got into the fight. Chase maybe? At first, he seemed like bad news, but Sabine knew better than most not to judge someone immediately. There was the delicate balance of being friends with Percy as well as being understanding to a new person who did harm in the past and is trying to make amends.

Sabine waited for Leah to get her skates off before she reached her hand out and held on as they began walking towards the others. "At least we can enjoy this moment."

As Millicent waited for a response, she noticed the fissures grow in light, and the girl she saw through the ice manifested herself out of it. She was as alive and real as Millie was, but that didn't mean much. She was locked in some ice, which meant she could be dangerous. Or she was a prisoner.

This was out of Millicent's depth.

The girl looked out of it, and Millie locked eyes with her. The girl reached for something, a weapon perhaps? Millicent held her arm out. "Whoa, chica, hold off on that. You're at a school filled with a bunch of people with superpowers. The majority of them are hormonal teenagers, so cool it for a second. Who are you and why were you trapped in that ice fort?"

The girl started to move, but seemed shaken and dizzy. Millie fought off the urge to help (consent was important), so she stayed in place. "I'm Millicent. Are you feeling okay? I could see about finding a nurse or someone. They have to have medics on standby here. She waited for the girl's response to being offered aid. Hopefully, it didn't escalate further than that.
