I rather think that the problem is people try to put too much character background into a post, rather than having a grip on the character and allowing small parts of it to inform the action.

I'm thinking that Marguerite needs to be one of the last to post in the current round, she is going to continue to care for for the kid but she wont willingly go into danger. I'm thinking she has a confusing dream that convinces her to go at the last moment.
