WOTM #2: Short Story Voting

... Oh, wow. I did not expect that. I quite honestly didn’t think it was that great an entry, but seeing how everyone voted for it I suppose others thought differently, and I suppose that’s what counts. Congratulations, Voltin~!

So, yeah. I’m the writer of “The Story of Prisca Glover”, in case it wasn’t obvious. I was quite proud of it, and believed it stood an honest chance of winning (which I do not always believe about my entries) even before I knew what kind of entries it faced against. While it would appear I didn’t get a single vote, I’m still satisfied since I got some good response. That’s all a writer could ever ask for, right? Heh-heh.

Thanks for complimenting my writing. I never really considered how well one could connect to the character and focused on just writing a tale a woman like that would go through. So, yeah. And I find a written laughter to be a lot more engaging to read than just a blank text of “she laughed”, hence how I wrote it. On that note, I don’t think a written sigh would have that effect and I would therefore not use one- (goes and checks) ---- oh, I used one. Huh. Hmmm. OK, then. Haha.

It warms my writer’s heart to hear that you in any way “love” anything I have done, be it the way I used a component or otherwise. Thank you. Though, as for the “plot hole” which you’re referring to, I do not consider it one. You’d be surprised by the amount of things that can go unknown by the sheer assumption that nobody asked. Heck, I didn’t know one of my best friends had a sister until well into my third year of knowing him when he mentioned going somewhere with his sister. In this case, Prisca had never bothered to find out where Elliot lived, and he had assumed she knew. As Elliot’s tasks were limited to just dropping off what she needed at her doorstep and leave afterwards, they didn’t exchange that much information, and while they spoke at times on the phone or while he visited, it would usually be about Prisca they were talking. Elliot’s place of residence simply hadn’t come up. As such, I do not consider it a plot hole, more of a plot convenience created to instigate an amusing situation. Haha. Thank you for complimenting.

What you wrote about not being inspired any emotions and that the story didn’t absorb you was a lie in order to excuse not voting for yourself. Though, looking for errors was technically not wrong, because you were worried you had made mistakes. Hahahaha. Now down with you.

Thanks~ I feel happy to be able to write something you could find interesting~ I’m not entirely sure which parts exactly would need work, and in what way, but thank you regardless, and I shall do my best! … Heh. And about that. There’s a level of care in my writing of Prisca, eh? Different from my writing of other characters? Possibly. This is certainly not a biography, I’d be damned if I lived like that, but yeah, some of the emotions which she feels are based on things I’ve felt in the past. Except, I bumped them up to eleven and made a story based on it. I needed a job for her she could do from home, and a writer simply worked, according to me. But, eh… Haha. Thanks for saying so. It feels special, in some way, not really sure how. Thanks.

I just had a dream...

In it, someone unknown to me used the Dragon Balls to summon the One Ring from Lord of the Rings into a Mario Kart game, and suddenly Waluigi, Mario, Wario, and several others which I am currently having problems identifying since dreams disappear from memory so quickly got into a comical chase scene (with vehicles and Mario Kart power-ups) all trying to collect the ring and flee the stage with it. I think Wario won, but only because he had it when I woke up.

It was hilarious.

On a completely different note, assuming I don't get Critical Hit and/or Dual Struck into loss, would I be able to make multiple turns in a row when there's only one enemy left? I kind of want Takaho to abuse the fact she only does 2 damage to Anne per fireball and do that repeatedly, but that would take so long it would be depressing using the current system, waiting for Light to update it each turn and forcing Olsted to end the turn for no use whatsoever over and over. Would it be fine to do so? Does the GM or opponent object to this hope of mine?

Having a Knight is going to be suicide when everyone starts getting D-rank weapon skills and buy their armor-piercing equipment as their more powerful alternative to their main weapons since they're the only ones available... XD

... I almost feel bad for being amused. Such a poor woman. You have my plus-points for having amused me and for being a fairly good writer. Though, at the length of this, it is a fantastically lengthy piece which inspires few emotions and just makes the reader draw out minor feelings of amusement. I wasn't exactly taken with it. The middle part where she actually left felt like it had been cut really short in favor of other things, which threw me off a bit before that conversation started. I was more like, looking for errors because the story didn't absorb me. The entry is fine, and well written. I hope to see you in the future too. I could possibly vote for this one, but you'll know why if I don't, alright?

Hm. The sole unnatural entry this time, eh? Very well, then. You have my compliments for trying something out of the ordinary, and for entering, thank you very much. I have to say, though, the writing here could use some work. There were several times when the sentence sounded weird or something was simply misspelled. You're not a lost cause, though, you've written plenty here which makes for a readable enough text, but these numerous distracting occasions combined with a not-so ground-breaking plot didn't do it for me. Why did that girl make so much of an impression on the big bad bandit if he thought she was dead? But thank you very much regardless, feel free to enter the next. Haha.

... Such a tiny little piece about such a subject... Welp. I hope not too many children go through the same things this girl is. Hm, all the main characters are female, huh? Oh, well. This entry was the only one of these that succeeded with the emotional aspect. I started to care about what happened and became somewhat immersed in it, well enough for me to disregard some of these spelling and sentence errors which I have seen. While the story isn't exactly ground-breaking either or particularly unique... Eh. Actually, I didn't have anything to follow up on that. Compared to the entries I have read over my time at WOTM, this is really lacking, really. I think Kaga detailed why pretty well above. But, for the ones that are here, I suppose it is the best one, huh?
