What is this?
Imperfect Past will be an NRP set in an alternate historical world where WW2 played out much differently, the Nazi's got the bomb and the United States faded from the World Stage. Don't worry about the flavor text above, that's just a 'scenario' of what may have happened. Here's the skinny on the setting:
- Pseudo-science lives. Retro-future atomic landscapes reign. Einstein proved time-travel was possible. The Reich managed to build a prototype and altered the course of history in it's favor. The specifics are left to you, the player.
- The Greater Reich (encompassing England, France, most of Africa and Southeast Asia) waged a Cold War with the Soviet Union.
- The United States never recovered from the Great Depression.
- The bombs probably flew in the 50's. Nobody is sure. The destruction of the Reich was near absolute.
- The United States was hit in 1963, the aggressor unknown.
- The World in 1983 is now a shit-hole, with irradiated zones and civil unrest. Technology borders on the edge of retro-futurism and the pre-microprocessor world. Massive computer banks, green text projection screens, anything else you guys want to throw in.

RP EXPECTATIONS & POST FORMAT
I'm quite busy myself, but I've been itching for a political/historical RP to play around in. You can expect to make a post once a week, two max. Technological levels will fall along a roughly equal footing-most surviving nations have 50's era aircraft and tanks, massive computer banks, early versions of the net, whatever you guys can think of and I'm not going to be a dictator GM so suggestions are welcome. Here are some other guidelines:
- A policy/action post format is preferred. Narratives are encouraged in creative ways-but make that is secondary to your nations primary goals. More on this in a bit.
- The World is greatly different-but don't include anything outrageous. No aliens. No time travelers or great leaps in technology. (It is tempting...)
- Combat outcomes will be agreed upon by *both* parties. But it should be considered that most militaries are devastated, fuel and ammo in short supply and a general weariness for war is prevalent. (Come on people-we just had a nuclear holocaust a generation ago).
- Do not jump forward in time any significant amount. This shouldn't be an issue, but I wanted that to be clear.
- Nations will be accepted based on the content of their entry. Nations relations should be discussed ahead of time in the OOC.
- If your playing a resurgent Nazi group-all other players will have hostile relations toward you.
- Do not digress the NRP conversation into a fight about what technology/political ideologies etc. would be present in this timeline-it's alternate history and as long as plausible reason is given for something occurring, then it's fine by me. No moon-bases please.
- More information on the state of the world will be posted if enough interest is expressed.
Policy & Action Format
If your hoping for a strictly narrative driven RP, then this may not be for you. You are playing an entire nation, giving it guidance in a post-nuclear world. What do I mean by Policy and Action? At the header of each post, (and in a running log in your Character Sheet) you will maintain your countries Policies on Foreign and Domestic matters along with any Goals your nation may have, be it long term or short term. Policy includes anything political positions your nation holds over a period of time. Non-Agression Pact's , Trade-Deals, Arms Treaties, Civil Policy, etc. Actions encompass anything that your governing body does that might affect other nations or your own citizens. I.e. Send military across borders, seize territory. You should also invent clear goals for your nation. I.e. Expand borders, rebuild infrastructure, conquer Canada. Whatever. After you post your countries policy and actions in list format, you can add any flavor text, vignettes, news postings, anything really that might reflect those actions and policies. This is your RP so how much you invest in your nation is up to you. Want to hold elections? Go for it. Want to write a detailed history of your nation-post WW2 that's cool too.The Nation Sheet
