I had a super hard time choosing since I have so many pokemon I love, but I went with Shinx since on my first playthrough of Diamond I caught one super early and it went all the way with me to beat Cynthia as a mighty Luxray. Was a real MVP for a lot of fights

Silverflight gave Shadestar a gentle smile as she settled down nearby, tucking her paws underneath her chest, "Let's hope so. We need their help more than ever and suddenly they've decided it's better to be silent," She frowned looking down at the ground in front of her, "Maybe the other medicine cats will have some idea, or will at least be able to tell Eelpond if Starclan has been silent for them as well." In the days growing closer to leafbare and the silence of their ancestors she could feel her faith in them wavering. If they wouldn't help with the murders then would they help them during the colder seasons? She couldn't recall a time in her life, or the lives of the elders, that Starclan had ever abandoned them so completely. She let out a quiet sigh, shaking her head to banish the negative thoughts. The clan needed their leader strong and it wasn't her job to worry him more than he already was.

"The sunhigh patrols have been sent out. I imagine they'll be back before too long with news," she glanced towards the freshkill pile, "and more freshkill." She settled deeper into the reeds and let her eyes slip closed for a moment, enjoying the fainter warmth of the late leaf-fall sun and the sounds of the camp going on around her. She could hear the quiet murmurs coming from the medicine den and the sounds of shuffling paws around the camp from the warriors and apprentices that hadn't been sent out on patrol.

Her ears pricked slightly at the sounds of rushing pawsteps coming towards the camp. She let her eyes snap open as the slender form of Branchfall pushed through the entrance to camp in a rush. She sprang to her paws, her fur beginning to bristle slightly at the mixed emotions she could feel coming from the younger tom. She had sent him with Flamepelt and Rainstripe to the Birchclan border, had they been attacked and he was coming back for help? She didn't see or scent the rest of the patrol nearby as she quickly padded up to meet him at the middle of camp. "What's happened Branchfall?" she meowed, concern coloring her voice, "Where's the rest of the patrol?"

She could feel the nerves prickling across her pelt. They couldn't afford to loose anyone. Not with leafbare this close and tensions already running high. It would crush the rest of the clan if one of them got killed on patrol or by this murderer stalking the valley. Even the smallest thing that went wrong could spark a war between the clans.

Nightpaw nodded at Dawnstep, "She has. I just wanted to make sure we wouldn't be too close to the border patrols or anything." He watched as she slipped off into the plants in the direction on the Birchclan border, proabably to check in on Flamepelt. Sometimes he wished that he had a sibling that he could have a close relationship with like Flamepelt and Dawnstep did. He wanted to get to know them as his older siblings, but they were so much older than him it felt...weird. There was no way they'd want to spend time with an apprentice when they could just be with each other. Of course, he had Mottledpaw, who was kind of like a sister, and now Skypaw, but it wasn't really the same. He turned to follow Froststorm who began to head off in the opposite direction. Not far enough away that they couldn't hear each other, but enough that any noises wouldn't disturb the others prey. He kept his ears pricked for the sounds of scuffling paws or rustling feathers and leaves.

His ears swiveled to the side as they picked up the sound of smaller feet in the shrubs close to one of the smaller streams that ran throughout the territory. He flicked his tail to alert Froststorm and dropped into a hunter's crouch. His kept his steps careful as he crept around the shrubs and reeds so none of them broke underneath his paws. Slipping through a small break in the undergrowth he could see a good-sized lizard perched on a large, dark stone soaking up the every growing warmth of the day. It had it's eyes closed as it rested on the rock, giving him the perfect opportunity to get close enough, and with a strong push of his hind legs he landed directly onto the lizard and sunk his teeth into its neck.

He trotted back through the brush and found a place to bury it nearby.Maybe it'd be worth it to look for some fish in the stream... His mentor had slipped off somewhere else, likely hunting for prey of her own, so he returned to stream and settled onto the rock that the lizard had been sunning itself on. His own dark pelt soaking up the sun and he couldn't help the slight purr that worked its way out of his throat. Looking down into the clear waters he kept an eye out for the telltale flash of scales in the sun that would signal a fish. He let his mind wander slightly to the state of the valley. Birchclan was more hostile than usual but he supposed it was within reason with everything that was going on. Blame was already being thrown around between the clans and he didn't know how much longer, or how many killings, they'd be able to last without things escalating into violence. He knew he would protect his clanmates with his life if it came down to it.

He shook his head, Gotta stay focused on hunting. I can worry about that later, He looked back to the stream, hoping for the sight of a fish. He remembered hearing Mottledpaw say to her mentor that she would catch the biggest fish for Skypaw and chuckled slightly. We'll see who gets the biggest one.

Cassius tensed slightly and tightened the grip he had on the hilt of his sword as the man raised his voice. Best he could tell these men were a couple of idiots at best and hired thugs at worst. He'd dealt with their type plenty in his travels around and had seen his fair share of encounters get violent quick. While that wouldn't be a problem for him, he didn't want to put anyone else in the area in harms way. Better to just try to smooth this over without crossing swords... He scowled down at the shorter man who stepped up between them, clearly trying his hardest to appear amiable. He'd have had a better shot if he bothered to take care of himself at all. His pallid skin and poorly done implants just further proved this.

We're all friends here, huh?

He highly doubted that. He reached a gauntleted hand forward and placed it on the shorter man's shoulder, tightening his grip to the point that it was almost uncomfortable. He heard the angry voice of the girl come from behind the man, confirming his suspicions that they were not friends. "Just let the little lady go and then, maybe, we can see about finding that person you're looking for, alright." His grip tightened just a bit more, a pleasant smile crossing his face, but a threatening undertone to his voice. It wasn't a suggestion. "No need for anyone here to get hurt."

A sudden spark of lightning flashed from the hand of the younger man; he felt a brief moment of surprise that moved into concern as he saw both the tanned man and the girl drop to the ground like a puppet whose strings had just been cut, "Spoke too soon I guess." Using his hand on the man's shoulder as an anchor point, and the moment of surprise, he slammed his knee into the stomach of the smaller man causing him to double over. A swift blow to the temple and the man was on the ground with his friend.

Cassius shook out his hand as he stepped over the man to kneel next to the unconscious form of the girl. He wasn't a doctor but he figured she would be alright in time. He looked back towards the other man, "Not the wisest course of action, but it got the job done I suppose."

Aardwolf's eyes pinging around between each of the dragons as they talked. This was much more than he expected to get roped into. More than just this assassination now the RainWings were complicit in the murder by handing over their venom willingly. Maybe this Lemur was involved with the dragons who were responsible? He had no idea. This was all making his head spin. Jaguar, at least, seemed to be in staunch disagreement with what the rest of her tribe had done. Maybe this meant that she could actually be of some help to them. All of this also explained why she was at the Scorpion Den in the first place rather than with her tribe. He shook his head in exasperation at the absurdity of it all.

He couldn't particularly tell if she was telling the truth or not, but he'd take Dreamseeker's word for it. Jaguar also seemed much too indifferent to it all to be lying. "Do you know if Lemur is still with the tribe? If they were the one doing the collecting then they must've done the delivery as well. They could at least tell us which tribe the dragon who wanted the venom is from."

Eclipse nodded in agreement with his question looking like he had just snapped out of his own thoughts on the subject. "Why were the other RainWings so willing to give their venom over?" He looked both irritated and concerned, "Did they not think about what some other dragon might do with it or did they just not care?" His voice got heated and his tail twitched across the muddy ground behind him as he went on, not at Jaguar, but at the ones who caused all of this.

Aardwolf thought for a moment before looking back towards Jaguar, "You said you were one of the only ones that refused to hand over venom. Do you think that the others who refused might be willing to help in some way?"

He heard Eclipse snort slightly, "I doubt they would. Just because they didn't want to hand it over doesn't mean they'll be willing to put in the effort to help."

"That's true I suppose," Aardwolf sighed, "Couldn't hurt to try though, right?"

Silverflight watched the patrols begin to disappear from the camp and follow out her given orders for the early part of the day. She let her eyes continue to trail lazily around camp as the daily routines began to pick up speed. Several of the other warriors who had been up earlier were settling down to rest and share tongues or find some other way to make themselves useful around camp. She already began planning out the evening patrols in her head, giving Tinypaw a nod as the apprentice pulled something from the pile for herself and presumably Eelpond. The sun had burned off the mist that hung across the camp and now there was a warm glow cast across the camp and warming her pelt. She closed her eyes briefly and allowed the warmth to scare away the lingering doubts and darker thoughts that plagued the valley.

She saw Eelpond slip from Shadestar's den and head back to the medicine cat den. Hopefully the two medicine cats would get something from Starclan. They had been uncomfortably silent given the terrible things that had stricken each and every clan. She watched Shadestar follow shortly after Eelpond, a contemplative look on his face slipping into worry. She hoped their leader wasn't taking too much onto his own shoulders with the killings. Starclan knew he couldn't do more than he already was. She hoped that the naming of a new apprentice and the show of clan unity would drive away at least some of his concerns.

"Morning Shadestar," she meowed as he approached, "Everything alright with the journey to Moonbrook?" Tensions were high and if there was something that might prevent them from communing with Starclan things would only get worse. "Nothing more we need to concern ourselves with I hope."

Nightpaw nodded at Dawnpelt's suggestion, "Sounds good to me," he trotted behind her and Froststorm as they began to head out of camp; shaking the water droplets off of his pelt as they dripped off the reeds, "If Irisstar decides to start something it would be good for us to be nearby." He kept his ears pricked as they padded past the quiet bubbling of the streams that weaved their way into the nearby lake. He saw a faint flash of scales underneath the water, but he didn't leap after it. If they were going to be out for some time he'd rather keep his paws dry of the cold water. Maybe he'd try to catch fish on the way back if they were still swimming about. The thought of getting mud caked in between his toes wasn't the most pleasing, but he wouldn't pass up the opportunity for their return journey.

"Are we allowed to hunt on our way to the Oak Dens?" he asked towards Dawnpelt.

He hoped to hear the quiet scuffle of small paws on the dirt or the ruffle of feathers indicating birds pecking around for seeds on the ground, but the nearby area was fairly silent. The slowly rising sun warmed his dark pelt and would hopefully lure the underground dwelling critters out into the light. He could feel the uncertain tension that ran through camp and tried to not let it get to him too much, but when the older warriors were nervous it made it difficult not to feel the same. He shook his head to clear out the thoughts and focus on what they were doing. The clan needed food and there was no way that they were going to come back empty pawed.

Aardwolf blinked in surprise at Jaguar's explanation of what this "poison" was. Not a poison at all but a venom of sorts. Did that mean that it was a RainWing who was responsible for Queen Ember's death? He didn't think that was likely as Jaguar seemed insistent that they didn't care about the goings on outside of the rainforest. He stared at the shriveled mess of a plant and felt faintly sick at the idea of that hitting a dragon. It matched up with what Eclipse had said in regards to what had happened to the queen's scales.

He turned and looked at the other dragons, Skua seemed surprised and Eclipse's dark scales looked like they had paled considerably. "They said it was a dart, so does that mean one of the RainWings gave over their venom willingly to the assassin?" He shifted slightly uncomfortably, "Or is there a way that it could be taken by force?" He didn't like either option.

He had hoped an explanation would save them from having to traverse the forest, but now he felt it was even more important for them to go in. They needed to see what the RainWings knew and if one of them was somehow responsible for the assassination. If they were would they have to keep that information to themselves? He didn't see the SkyWings sitting back and letting them get away with it. At best they'd try to hunt down who was responsible, at worst they'd burn the forest to the ground. There were too many questions about all of this and it was starting to make his head hurt.

Aardwolf was surprised with the venom that laced Jaguar's voice as she talked about her own kingdom. If they only cared about themselves and never came out of the rainforest then what was she doing out? He supposed that was a question for a later time. He wasn't about to divulge his life story so he couldn't expect Jaguar to do it. This was certainly a strange bunch and they all had their own problems. This was just the bigger problem.

He remained silent as Dreamseeker and Jaguar spoke. He was just as curious about all of this as the RainWing was. He only knew the bare minimum that Eclipse and Dreamseeker had told Drought to gain her favor. Even those small details, the assassination of Queen Ember and the confusion that followed, were enough to make his scales prickle with nerves.

"A lead on who assassinated Queen Ember," Eclipse responded quietly, "What was used to kill her came from the rainforest and no one knows it better than the RainWings do." He traced random shapes into the mud with one claw, "There's virtually no information on the kinds of things that live in the forest or what types of poisons are there, so this is our best shot. It melted her scales off, surely they must know about something that dangerous."

Aardwolf frowned slightly. Shouldn't the next in line or the head of the guard be out worrying about this. Instead it's three young dragons who don't even seem to know the way of the world. He looked towards Jaguar, "You wouldn't happen to have any ideas about what this poison could be do you? It could save us a trip." He watched for her reaction intently, trying to see if he could discern anything about her feelings on everything she'd just heard.

Aardwolf huffed slightly but let his tail drop back down. He kept the slight glare as he settled back down, "Well we have to keep some semblence of order," he waved a claw flippantly, "If we just let everyone wander around and steal whatever they want we wouldn't have much of a home now would we." He didn't know what Jaguar had been through or why she was even in the Scorpion Den in the first place, but even if they had a good reason, they couldn't let theft slide. "If we give leeway to someone then everyone is going to expect it." He knew Drought was a bit...odd, but she kept them safe well enough and that was the most important thing.

He nodded in agreement with Skua, "I'd rather we all play nice, but if I happen to have my back turned," he shrugged, "Well then I wouldn't know."

He watched as Eclipse gave another scowl towards Jaguar, still hanging around close to Dreamseeker, "Why won't they help us? All we want to do is as them some questions, not wage war on another kingdom. That isn't an outrageous request."

Aardwolf swiveled his head between the members of their party as they talked, aimlessly plucking feathers from some tropical looking bird that had been caught. He didn't have any knowledge at all about the RainWings beyond what he'd heard through rumor and now here with Jaguar. If they were as lazy as he'd heard or as prickly as their prisoner he wouldn't be surprised if they didn't have any interest in helping. He figured it would probably be best to keep those opinions to himself and let the actual RainWing answer.
