The amount of noise was uncomfortable as it assaulted Sora's ears as he continued to look through the legs of the Tauros. He pushed himself up against the gray-brown fur of his brother next to him as the Luxray spoke about Ember Cave. He was pretty sure he had heard about the mission leaving but he didn't know any of the specifics. Feral Pokémon? He didn't remember anything being mentioned about that other than their father telling them not to go outside of town after dark, or stray too far, but that was something he had always said.

"Arceus, they didn't decide to turn back until three of them were dead, that's ridiculous." Storm's voice was bitter, as it always was, but there was an undertone of disbelief and sadness to it that wasn't common for his brother.

He looked at his brother with a slight twinge of annoyance, "They had a job to do and they were trying to keep us safe, you can't blame them for that." He looked back at the ruffled feathers, fresh scars, and broken claws that turned the powerful adventuring party into a group of beaten down failures. "They knew what they were getting into." Even he wasn't sure he really believed what he said.

"Did they?" Storm asked him with a scoff, and it was obvious he didn't believe that either.

As the Luxray made his final statement the crowds around them began to disperse. He scrambled away from where he had posted up underneath the Tauros' body in order to not get stepped on as the larger Pokémon moved away from the square. The noise had faded a bit but there were still several others who ran up to the group with a barrage of questions. He didn't know what to feel. How had they failed? They were a group of the most powerful Pokémon in Sunspear, yet they'd lost the fight. It didn't make sense.

He moved slowly to stand next to Lumi as Sable herded them together to take them home. He flinched slightly at the force in her voice as she bundled Cane along. Storm followed shortly after with a look in his yellow eyes that Sora couldn't place.

"Why're we leaving? I wanted to go see them and talk to them!" Cane whined from where he was pushed along.

Sora met Lumi's look before just shaking his head slightly, "Let's just go." The excitement from the morning had faded hard and fast. All he wanted to do now was get home and bury himself in his nest. Maybe their father would know something more about what had happened.

It had only been a short time, at least shorter than most beasts, that Zaris had found himself at Redwall Abbey. It had taken some time, and no small amount of work on the part of the healers present to get him back on his feet, and he was more than grateful for that. Hence why he was currently posted up by the gate with his sling and swords. Officially his role was helping Brother Jethro with manning the gate, but he was happy to help keep watch as well. It was a time of peace, for the Abbey at least, so mostly he spent the days standing around and helping open the gate when the need arose.

Nothing much exciting had happened in his time at the gate, unless he accounted for Brother Rigby's constant pestering, but he'd grown somewhat fond of the mouse despite himself. Either way he was happy to help out given the aid that the Abbey had given him. He leaned against the inner wall of the gatehouse with a sigh, idlily tossing stones between his paws and listened to the chirping birds outside. The new season was happily welcomed, but each day he spent at the Abbey was one day longer that the vermin that killed his family had to wander away from Mossflower Woods.

Despite this, he was eagerly anticipating the feast that was planned for the evening, and he had even enjoyed listening to the stories that were told about the previous heroes of the Abbey. Rather different from the ones that he heard from his tribe, but no less entertaining. It wouldn't be too bad sticking around the Abbey for just a little longer. As long as he had to in order to repay his debt to the goodbeasts who took him in.

The sound of voices pulled him out of his thoughts, as did the arrival of Abbot Munty to the gatehouse. He pushed off the wall; quickly tucking the stones back into his pouch as Brother Jethro looked over the wall. His eyes narrowed at the gatekeeper's call that there were vermin on the other side of the gate, and he couldn't help but scoff at the beasts saying they were peaceful. He'd never in his life met a single vermin who wanted peace, it was anything but for them.

He followed a step behind Brother Jethro as the gate was opened, one paw held slightly back towards where his twinned swords were sheathed. There was no way these vermin had good intentions, but he wasn't going to argue with the Abbot. If the Father allowed them into the Abbey, and they did appear to be unarmed, who was he to say otherwise. He hadn't been here long enough, but the sight of the vermin traipsing through the gate made his scars itch.

"Aye Brother, I don't trust 'em any farther than I could sling a stone in the woods." He slammed the ground with his rudder before stepping away to join up with Brother Rigby and lead the vermin to the Friar. If they were going to be here he wouldn't let them out of his sight.
I'm working on posts today, so I'll be getting something out soon

The departure of the Intervention had been timely if rather dull, as most boarding was. The only time Kaevius had found that getting ready to leave had any sort of real urgency was during the war, so it was nice in it's own way. Meant that everyone was, hopefully, well on their way to fixing the damages as best they could. If the Citadel had the capability of putting together a whole new security fleet aside from C-Sec they must not be doing too poorly in his opinion.

He'd moved ship to ground and back to ship enough during the war to have slipped into a easy routine. Get his personal effects stored away in his quarters, check the layout of the ship in general, but finish his walk about in the armory to see what kind of supplies they had for tinkering on his guns and armor. Presently he was rather impressed with the organization and supplies. That was plain for anyone to see by the gleam in his eyes and slight bounce to his step that most Turians didn't have. If he was going to be in a new place, he'd make the best of it. Besides, that meant there would be a number of new crewmembers to meet, and for once he wasn't stuck with a bunch of haughty members of his own race.

The intercoms rang throughout the ship as he began to make his way down to the armory and a series of amused chuckles escaped him as their captain began to speak. It was obvious she didn't have the sheer charisma that many of the captains had, nor the strict no nonsense attitude that his previous CO did, but he couldn't help but appreciate the unrehearsed honesty of it. Given his time at C-Sec and the amount of red tape they had to slog through to get even the smallest thing done, it seemed like the Security Fleet might have a bit more of a relaxed air to it. If that was the case he wasn't going to complain. This was going to be quite the trip though, he was certain of that.

It only took a brief moment for the door to the armory to open and his mandibles fluttered slightly as he was able to take in the familiar space. If there was one thing that was similar across most ships that he had been on it was the armory. If he was going to be working as the weapons specialist on the ship it'd be best to get to know the space right? He also made a mental note to check on the actual defenses of the ship as a whole, might be possible to make some improvements during their travel just in case Cerberus got ballsy.

A quick check of his own weapons left him free to settle into his space and get comfortable. He was sure he'd get to know the rest of the crew in time, but presently he was more concerned with getting familiar with his surroundings. There'd be time for fun later.
@Nemaisare
Not until he can not break windows. Maybe go out into the woods if they’re gonna be slinging rocks lol. I can see it. He was injured and distressed during that time so he’d not be inclined towards making friends. Once he stopped prying there would definitely be more of a willingness to be around him and have a friend at the gate
@Nemaisare He'd definitely let Rigby try the sling though it probably would've taken a few times asking to actually get him to and it over. He wouldn't get anything out of him about his tribe and those kind of questions would probably lead to him avoiding Rigby until he'd apologized.

He'd be more than willing to help out with the gate even before the apology since the gate is his job. Once he's spent more time at the Abbey and got closer to everyone he'd enjoy hanging out with Rigby to deal with boredom

While Sora kept his fur flat, though he could feel Lumi's fluffed with excitement next to him, he couldn't stop the rapid wagging of his tail as he looked around the area. Cane was sitting on his other side, next to Sable, and Storm was standing slightly to the back looking disinterested. Though Sora could see his eyes flicking back to the road every so often, so it was obvious he was excited to some degree about the adventurers returning.

His eyes followed Lumi's up as the Raichu blew the horn and had to stop himself from fully vibrating with excitement, though it wasn't going very well. Cane sprang to his paws as the announcement that they'd returned rang through the streets, and even Storm fully turned his head to look through the crowds.

The huff that came from Lumi was echoed by him at almost the exact same time as the Tauros blocked their view of the street. As his sister leapt up onto the back of the larger Pokemon he quickly scrambled underneath and stuck his head out from in between their front legs. His eyes went wide as he looked across the small group that was standing there, the Swellow that his sister had mentioned wasn't gliding through the air and was instead standing, head slightly down, next to the rest of the group. He stuck his head out slightly further and could see a Sandslash and Absol as well amongst the team, but none of them looked exuberant or happy to be home. This was certainly not what he'd expected.

His head turned upwards at the Tauros' question, and he heard Cane behind him, "Hey I wanna see!" as Sable pulled him closer in silence.

The questions flooded from the crowd and his head turned every which way trying to pick up on who was saying them. Storm finally came up next to him and he could feel the fluff of his brother's fur. Not with excitement, but concern and fear. He met Storm's eyes briefly before they both looked out to the crowd as the Luxray made his statement.

Immediately there was a eruption of noise and questions from the Pokémon around them. Sora flattened his ears against his head and turned to look back towards Sable for some sort of guidance as to what they should do.
@Lord Wraith Just updated the Abbey Role section to include his job as assistant gatekeeper. Was there anything else that you felt needed changing?
@Lord Wraith

Works for me! That’s sort of the vibe I was going for, but I wasn’t completely sure of the role that’d fit. I’ll make the changes ASAP
