I think Leifr should be chivalrous gentleman who saves the maiden in distress by pulling her aboard his warhorse, letting her him ride side saddle like a true princess.

As the creatures came into view, Lyrisa couldn't help but lose her cool for a second. From atop her horse, she saw the. . . Beings of rot. . . And other things. "What. . . What the hell are these things?" They sure as hell didn't seem like anything natural. They didn't seem to fear either if their lack of it against the fire was an indication

Before anything bad happened she needed to get away. So did everyone else. . . Wait, the Creep was already gone with his horse. It seemed more like he lost control of his horse and it ran off on it's own. That was one person safe at least. Really, they would be idiots if they were to stay there.

She just needed to go, they were down a fighter anyhow and these creatures looked too. . . Disturbing. She didn't want to be around them anymore if she could help it. Perhaps it was these creatures that instigated the missing peoples and disappearing bandits. It didn't look too good. She kicked her horse into action to leave hoping that her allies were going to follow behind her.
