Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

The walk down the tunnel seems easy enough: it is, for the underhive, clean and brightly lit, though here and there are signs this is only such by prodigious effort--a section of wall collapsed and spewing rock right across the tunnel, for instance.

I am not sure whether I need GM approval to defeat a bunch of untrained noobs or not. XD
Well, they can clearly get involved when things are serious enough, since Tessai and Hachigen were from the Kido Corps.

Also, they apparently operate the Soryoku. :O
Market District

(Side note: Rin drew another picture of Hitomi! ^_^)l

On this fine, sunny day, one of Mayon's paladins was having an absolutely terrible time. Sent out to go buy some food for the temple--as, of course, she was the resident expert on finding choice cuts of meat--and given the money, she'd come outside... only for the sun to emerge from behind the clouds, leaving Hitomi almost totally incapable of seeing where she was going. With surprising luck, she'd made her way to the marketplace correctly, but this luck had run out: an unfamiliar stall was in the way, and the dark elf was on a collision course.

The result was that one squid-girl's stall now had a rather dazed paladin repeatedly apologising in her native language, having walked into it and then completely tripped over the low tables, entirely ending up on the proprietor's side of things. Poor girl.
The Gilded Timber--Inn

The Queen of the Damned was not a happy camper. Last night, there had been an... incident with some drunks, and various pieces of furniture had been broken in the process of evicting them from the premises. So she'd had to close up--nobody else was working there at that time of the morning--to go get some replacements, and she'd come back to find that everyone who owed her rent was already out for the day. More than the mundane troubles of running an inn, however, was the fact that she'd run out of a very particular type of cheese. How could she make pizza now?

The patrons of the inn were looking rather uncomfortable as the demon drummed her fingers on the bar, dressed in practical but expensive clothing. She looked like she was going to murder someone for looking at her wrong...
Out and About

Tanya was in for a surprise. Whilst she stood on the street corner, word had somehow found its way to the high priestess--who, naturally, had decided that the grumpiest paladin needed to be cheered up. So she'd put on her robes too, and was making her way to where the purple haired girl was trying to hand out pamphlets. Her outfit wasn't terribly different--mostly, the fact it was embroidered with some sort off cloth-of-sunstone, making it look as expensive as it was whilst serving a function as a torch.

Unless Tanya moved from her position, she would find herself picked up and hugged by a cheerful beastkin.
Neither Aizen nor Shinji were in charge of the Kido Corps. O_o

Also, it is kind of troublesome to pick the 5th squad for that, since someone already has its lieutenant (you also need to ask about captains).
I think the Kido Corps is supposed to be kept separate from the 13 squads. Having the same person in charge of both seems a bit... strange.
Seireitei

Seireitei was boring. This was the unavoidable conclusion of the Head-Captain, who had set her lieutenant to doing all the necessary paperwork and then gone for a walk, specifically looking for trouble and something to fight. Hollows, rowdy captains, the 11th Division--everything and anything that might possibly pick a fight with Kotohime was conspicuously absent as she searched for something to deal with her boredom.

She hated her position as it stood right now. She was a fighter, and had her position because she was good at it. As a result? Paperwork, and sitting around in an office all day, sending other people out to do something that she'd much rather do herself. So typically, when she did get away from it all for a while... Seireitei was a ghost town. Well, it was always a ghost town, but in this case it was almost dead silent.

Bored of wandering aimlessly, Kotohime instead decided to check in on the Academy. From the rooftop, it seemed that combat training was taking place... perfect.

The students were the first to notice her arrival, haori acting somewhat like a parachute when the captain made her way from rooftop to floor. The instructor, of course, couldn't fail to notice the sudden paralysing pressure when she decided to 'announce' herself.

"I have a challenge for you all," the one-eyed captain said, arms folded, "All of you, attack me. You can use whatever you want or know, I'll use my bare hands. Get a single hit in, you graduate, and if you don't have the minimum skills needed, I'll train you up."

It was an attractive offer--she might have been the head-captain, but she was vastly outnumbered and had stated she wasn't going to even use a practice blade or the like. On top of that, she was shorter than essentially every other shinigami out to practice. It should be easy, right?

The toothy grin as the pressure weakened so the students could even move to fight foretold how badly this would go.
I was thinking the 'small blonde girl using the title of King and a male name' thing.
Isn't there a crucial difference, here? :p
Name: Yukimura Chikane

Age: 512, looks 20-something.

Appearance: Both are the same person!

Personality: Cocky and fight-prone, with the backup that there are few fights that she'll lose in any meaningful and permanent way. She approaches all challenges with the same "I'll just have to try again harder" mentality upon failure, even if this won't result in any improvement. Chikane is far too stubborn for her own good.

Abilities: For one, Chikane is quite definitely a vampire, with all the attendant strengths and weaknesses that this entails. Her age also gives her a good deal of practical experience when it comes to the art of fighting, which makes up for still knowing basically nothing about 'proper' martial arts. About a hundred years ago, she started learning western magic during Japan's rapid industrialisation.
With her affinity as the alarmingly straightforward 'power', almost all of her spell knowledge is focused around the simple goal of making her already superhuman abilities more superhuman, regardless of risk or time taken. This makes her something of a one trick pony; her response to being unable to overcome an obstacle is simply to make herself stronger, faster, or both, and try again. If that fails... well, she's got one goal in mind.
The vampire has, at least, taken the chance to learn appearance-altering spells, though not to any major extent. When you're an unageing, undying bloodsucker, changing the length of your hair or the colour of your eyes via magic is a somewhat useful talent. The more potent, and far harder to learn, spell was one to reshape body fat.

Weapons/Equipment: Chikane owns a motorbike--and an alarmingly powerful one, at that. This spares her two things: having to share a car with Toshiko, and allowing her to go fast.

Brief Backstory: Hundreds of years ago, Chikane was nothing special--before an older vampire, in a fit of pique, turned her and looked after her for a few weeks before leaving her to her fate. Survival got easier with time, and even easier once she could start getting proper jobs. When Toshiko first started hiring, Chikane was the first to sign up--not because she had any detective skills, but because it offered a chance to track down the bastard that turned her in the first place.

Plus it gave her an opportunity to move in, since she'd been lacking in a proper home for some time due to ID issues.
