Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

I'm definitely on board with a Japan-inspired superhero* RP, then!

*Any in particular?
It also massively increases the effort required to GM, makes the actions stilted, and obscures a lot of the information that characters would be able to build conclusions out of (because there's not going to be a full description in the thing), whilst leaving us with only the meta-gamey "Well, these people aren't fighting" and "I recognise the writing style" bits.

And welding together people's posts is either going to be clunky stitching or intrusive rewriting, which I can't really get behind. I write my posts as I want them to appear, after all.
I meant that characters can't co-ordinate a response, because that requires OOC communication between the two players--which isn't possible if the players are totally unaware of whose character is whose. And, as you've said, this would be a very, very tedious process.

Easier to work it as the characters not knowing but the players knowing.
HELLO.
I like all of this apart from the "edit everyone's posts together" and "no posting heroes" parts. It makes the action extremely non-interactive, as none of the players are working together, or have any idea what the other heroes are even doing, even if it's the sort of thing that they'd actually be able to see going on. On top of that, it's not a very good way to mask who's who: it becomes a case of 'mask the writing style'.

And no-one having any idea what any other character can do sounds like a grand way to have too much overlap and/or no idea of what the overall group is turning out like.

If it's your first time GMing, requiring a mass-editing session and having everyone wait on PM's they can't see or know about is going to make things much, much harder.
Name: Ishikawa Hinako

Race: Human (Mage)

Age: 23

Appearance: Tall One

Personality: In her belief that being a proper detective requires maintaining a calm, collected composure at all times, Hinako strives to act serious and maintain control of her emotions. This is something that she is terrible at doing, easily cracking under pressure and letting her not-exactly-thickskinned emotions show.

Despite having an immense weakness for cute things and cute girls, she's remarkably resolute in not even so much as hinting at flirting, though if nobody familiar is around she'll tend to purchase anything sufficiently adorable, which really doesn't help the detective agency's funds.

Rather than a hard-boiled detective, it would be better to say she's half-boiled.

Skills/Abilities: Hinako has an ability set more suited for a vigilante than a detective--basic martial arts knowledge backed up with an array of self-enhancement magic and some simplistic healing spells. It might be enough to consider getting involved in exploring monster dens, but why would she want to do that? The spells see more use in carrying shopping than actual fighting, frustratingly.
However, when it comes to manual detective work, it's Hinako that proves to be the better of the pair: she actually understands such vital concepts as 'asking people questions' and trailing others.

Equipment:

Brief Backstory: Ever since they were children, Hinako and Rin have been close: their parents were friends, and they grew up knowing each other. When they got to school, they were constantly being placed in the same class, and generally performing equitably on tests, until Rin picked up the basics of her magical abilities and Hanako got distracted reading detective novels. The result was one of them dropping to about average and the other becoming top of the class despite apparently not paying any attention to lessons.
When they graduated, it was the taller girl who suggested that they start a detective agency: she'd been saving up everything she could from doing as many part-time jobs as possible since people would actually let her, and her parents were willing to cover the difference. The result was that the two girls started up their own detective agency... and have just barely been managing to stay afloat by taking all sorts of random and minor jobs, not helped by their two-room agency being overly full due to Hinako's stuffed toy obsession and Rin's game one.
Name: Yamaguchi Rin

Race: Human (Mage)

Age: 23

Appearance: Short One

Personality: Far from an ideal detective, Rin is more concerned with whatever latest game has attracted her attention, or some topic that has managed to catch her attention. This makes her less than eager to go out and actually do detective work, thus leaving almost all of the legwork to Hinako. Like her partner, she really likes cute things, but acts more on people than items... and tends to feel guilty afterwards.
Wearing her heart on her sleeve probably isn't a good idea for her career, but she's more likely to be at home than going out.

Skills/Abilities: Rin's magical abilities gave her an undue advantage for school exams: it's pretty hard to fail when you're able to increase your ability to read and process information a hundredfold, even if you are particularly lazy about studying. Combined with a general assortment of indexing and searching spells, she's basically a walking library even if she can't remember the particular information immediately. Her more impressive ability is psychometric spells: it's always useful to learn stuff about an item's past, even if there's no physical clues.

Equipment: None

Brief Backstory: See above!
2:01PM, the Tower

The oldest of the various assembled mages was doing a remarkable job of not being affected by the piles of organs, given what she'd been like when the briefing had started: curled up on the most worn of the couches and sleeping, until she'd been poked and made to actually pay attention. Yet, despite her grogginess, and despite having an arm wrapped around an enormous stuffed rabbit--the only concession to her general apparent age that the Unlucky Six were exposed to, and then because she'd been given it in the past.

By the previous First when he'd originally joined. It had seemed rude to not keep it, and it hadn't left the lounge since--though Lucille had stated that it would have been disposed off if it had't been a black rabbit in the first place. Couldn't ruin the décor, even for the sake of a present.

"I guess I should act as bait? It should be harder to kill me in that way.
Archer

The Heroic Spirit had successfully manoeuvred his way into total control of the stall, with the actual owner unable to do more than watch in mute amazement as the now-sleeveless hero usurped his role with a physical skill that he couldn't even hope to match. With Saber approaching and all the food now mentally catalogued, Archer stepped up to the task and detraced his kitchen knives: whilst more suitable for the task than what he planned to use instead, he had a course of action in mind that made something a bit more dangerous easier.

In short: the hero was about to use Kanshou as a cooking implement. As the blonde opened her mouth to state her surprise at Archer's cooking, he blurred into action: one hand would seize the ingredient to prepare and toss it, the other would move the knife in such a way that the now-sliced pieces landed, hissing, on the grill. Even as that happened, the next would be seized.

As the meat was seared, it got turned in an equally dramatic way, with the knife spinning as both of the spirit's hands ignored the heat of the metal plate to overturn the food. Then, it was caught and the same seemingly-careless vegetable slicing ensued. There was definitely less-ridiculous ways to serve teppanyaki to Saber and the other adventurers that were oddly attracted to the stall, but with a Servant's reflexes and Archer's cooking ability, they were unnecessary.
