Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

So the college had been broken into and stolen from... then not reported the theft in any capacity whatsoever to outsiders. If you wanted to minimise the number of people who even knew where to find such a thing then the silence would make perfect sense. Not telling anybody when it happened was the height of stupidity. The number of people that could be exposed to the shard by accident and suffer the repercussions was frightening.

At least it explained where Merilia was today.

"So you cannot offer any further suggestion where the thieves might be headed?"
Confirming the identity of their culprits was nice, though Ryuuko wasn't paying too much attention to them (or even the successful spell, though it was nice to succeed) instead focusing on their surroundings. The scrying hadn't given an aerial view for long but she was confident that it was enough... she'd seen enough maps of Kawa. It helped to keep up to date on where her family was doing business and one of their more legal ventures was specifically in buying up and replacing dilapidated property.

Not that everything that happened in the meantime was legal.

"Ando-san, I know where this building is. It's certainly in the New Development district." the purple-haired girl stated, referring to a place that had been 'new'... after the war, though the name was going to be accurate again. Not the exact street address but finding a large apartment wouldn't be difficult at all--if their quarry was even in the same building when they got there, "Will you need directions?"

For once, Toshiko's horrifying driving would work in their favour.
Mori Hoshiko

Now that they were safely out of the crowded areas, Hoshiko relaxed a bit. There was still the issue of something maybe going wrong... but with fewer people around, her worries about being surprised were somewhat assuaged. August was a great reassurance when there weren't dozens of, maybe over a hundred, humans and youkai within visible range. Plus, of course, it meant a clear enough street that she could see what was happening at all.

"Ah, both would be good... maybe takoyaki for now and we could come back for the sweeter things later?" the white-haired girl said. Her cousin had convinced her to eat lightly to enjoy as much festival food as possible... and handed over enough money to make sure she didn't hesitate over her choices. Savoury sounded like a good start to the festival, rather than eating something so sweet on an empty stomach.
Chinese dragon, actually, but sure, we can just say that it's a diety taking the form of a snake will little baby arms and a fabulous mane.

If real dragons are a very specific thing, what would other, more traditional dragons be considered as then? Such as western fire breathing winged shits and all that?

They come from space.
I also dislike usage of canon Gears only. Sucks the fun out of making our own silly phrases.

And banning Shen Shou Jing is odd. It's not like it's any more villainous than Ichaival, which is mass destruction, or Igalima, which is soul-reaping.

Conceptually very OP? Even more than all the world's guns.
1) The Daurdabla isn't a Gear. It's not even the same sort of relic. It's even said when it comes up. <.<

2) Canon stuff only? Aww... that's just lazy. :T

And it's Symphogear without the strangely close relationships. D:
Mori Hoshiko

She hadn't wanted to come out and take part in the festival. The lure of such a concentration of freshly prepared food (especially in comparison to her own cooking or the rare times that Nana would try and make something) was certainly strong enough that Hoshiko might have braved a far more subdued affair long enough to sample the delicacies on offer. A big festival for the entire Imaginary District? No. Never. There were just too many people and so many youkai that of course something might go wrong and people would get hurt!

Makiko and the rest of her organisation weren't inclined to let someone stay inside for the entire event, however. As a part of the organisation, there had been no way for her to really refuse going around the festival with someone else... though it was embarrassing that she and her escort had been left out of the patrolling that the majority of the organisation was engaged in. Not that Hoshiko would have been any good at it, but it still rankled...

At least August made things easier to deal with, by dint of being much larger and easy to hide behind. So the white-haired girl was doing her best to cling to him and look out for an almost-unattended stall to get something to eat at... not that it was going all that well. Especially not after getting closer to Makiko, who seemed to attract people too easily.
Well, someone's going to need to accompany Hoshiko. No way she'd be around here on her own. XD
  • Name: Mori Nana
  • Age: 29
  • Gender: Female
  • Race: Human (Mage)
  • Personality: Nana is a diligent and serious person at work or when out in public, striving to maintain an approachable demeanour without losing what little intimidation factor she has: she has to at least seem competent at her job rather than "small and cute mascot". Out with friends or at home in private, she's a lazy tease who seems to do nothing but take it easy, which doesn't do a lot for her ability to be a stern parent, though she can occasionally bring her professional demeanour out when trying to relax.
Oh, and don't poke fun at her height.
  • Abilities: She also has a version of her family's magical trait, though it's a considerably milder version than Hoshiko's. It can be activated or deactivated at will and gives her telepathic abilities--reading surface thoughts primarily, though it can be used to communicate with someone else or amplified with the appropriate spells to dig around a lot deeper.
As a fully trained mage with a Perception affinity, aside from the very basics--such as reinforcing her physical strength and durability to not be immediately squashed by youkai she has to deal with in her job. It makes her especially good at scrying or any other magic aimed at gathering information and observing a place without being present. Or improving upon senses; it's not a good idea to assume she can't see in the dark just because she's a human being...
  • Skills: Seeing as she works in a police force, Nana has a lot of martial arts practice, which is only enhanced when she actually needs to fight by being able to pick up what the other person's going to do before they even begin to do it. Or, calling on her own experience, Nana can be a straight-up brawler (especially if there's something nearby to use as a bludgeon). She's in general pretty good at her job, but not a domestic person--the average cleanliness and quality of food at her place went up when Hoshiko moved in with her.
  • Equipment: Those (actual) earrings? They're enchanted and actually improve her eyesight. Without them, she'd need some pretty thick glasses to see clearly.
  • Brief Backstory: Nana was born and raised in the Imaginary District, making her no stranger to the vast number of nonhuman entities that live in this world--or humans having to compensate for their comparative lack of natural abilities. The number of fights she picked with everything during her teenaged delinquency made that perfectly clear. Then she spent a few years after highschool studying more in the normal world, then returned to the Imaginary District and followed in her father's footsteps by joining the police force.
Until just a year ago, her life was nothing much to write home about: she became a detective and maintained an inability to find a lasting romantic relationship. It was about that time that her family was looking for someone in the district with enough space (and willingness) to take in someone with powerful, and potentially dangerous, abilities. So Nana took Hoshiko in.
Unfortunately, between her job keeping her busy and her own lack of parenting skills, she wasn't very good at getting Hoshiko to attend school or go outside much. It was a good thing that the mayor's daughter decided to help everyone then, wasn't it?
Yukimura Noriko

It was embarrassing that she had so nearly forgotten the fundamental issue of trying to make friends with other magical girls... the sheer difficulty of doing anything in public without being forced to reveal one's real identity. Taking someone home was obviously entirely out of the question and yet to pay for anything would require ceasing your transformation: one way or another, it was hard to find many ways to bond when it exposed something like that.

So she had begged off of accompanying the Major at the last second, using her speed to get away... and staying at home for the rest of the evening just in case. Missing out on delicious yakitori in favour of nothing at all... she would have to be more careful before transforming the next time.

But it lead her to today's enterprise: feed her hungry stomach by finding the yakitori stand (or some yakitori) that had been mentioned. Step one: head to the nearby busy shopping district. Step two: try not to get distracted by the old shop that seemed to stack back-issues of every magical girl magazine to have ever been printed.

Step two had been a failure and, after considerable internal wrangling over how much to get today, the white-haired girl left with only one bag.

She was going to find the yakitori, though!
