Being truly on my own is a bit of a weird feeling. It's never really happened.

Let it never be said that sometimes extreme brevity isn't the most appropriate post, though. Everything is a tool.

I'm not sure how I'm going to deal with Advice for Sailing, but accepted.
Accepted, move to the characters tab.
Servants:

  • Saber: Mordred Pendragon
  • Archer: Sir Tristan
  • Lancer: Elizabeth Bathory
  • Rider: Castor and Pollux
  • Caster: Circe
  • Assassin: Brutus
  • Berserker: Kiyohime
Well then, I guess I'll swap this to closed unless someone drops out. Good thing I've got so many NPCs to occupy me.
Winning. Such a simple concept when you had all the cards, knew the system better than anyone else and could obtain advantages beyond your opposition's wildest imagination. For the Einzbern, the Grail War should have been an easily obtained prize and with it the path to the Root and, they were sure, a reclamation of the Third Magic. But... it didn't work that well. The first failed to go as intended, nor did the second complete satisfactorily... and even machinations in the Third denied them the ultimate victory desired.

For the Fourth, they came to the easiest conclusion: if there were no other competitors, then there would be no way to lose. Yet why not go a step further? With a single Master over all the Servants, then the ritual could be accomplished at their leisure once all other preparations were in place. A simple plan, with such control over the Grail, and one that would have undoubtedly worked...

It was just unfortunate for them that others still wanted their part in the War, the Tohsaka in particular having advanced faster than the Wizard Marshall could have anticipated, and provided enough power for the Grail to call forth another set of Servants... and created a dilemma for the Einzbern. If either side dared to sacrifice their Servants to obtain the Grail would be unable to take it before being themselves defeated.

Into this, that which remained of the former Grail core's intelligence introduced a gatekeeper, a Servant willing to stand with the church and oversee the war, and one that would block all access to the grail itself until one side emerged victorious, rather than embroiling the wish-granting power itself in the conflict...

As one might surmise, the premise of this roleplay is akin to Apocrypha, only not as stupid. Taking place a few years after the canonical date of the Fourth Grail War, there are two teams: the lone Einzbern Master and their Servants (and servants), and everyone else (including the Tohsaka, though the continued existence of the Matou is up to player choice). This charming fellow is here as Ruler and to make sure the war finishes before the summoning is allowed.

In the vein of the original game and /Zero, seemingly broken abilities aren't out of place, though Gilgamesh is as ever not allowed and I reserve the right to reject Servants who don't qualify under the rules of the original Holy Grail War, or whose power level is completely at odds with their identity or outright metagamey.

Oversleeping aside, Hibiki could agree that having a hotel room for access to showers would be an improvement, but really, on the walk to Ikebukuro, something else was on her mind... and her stomach was being quite vocal about it too. Ah, instant ramen was good for temporarily filling your stomach, but it was no substitute for a proper dinner, and things weren't looking up on the breakfast side of things either... it wasn't like a lack of food would get in the way of fighting or protecting the other girls from damaged scenery but she was hungry.

"Ah, is that Ben, from yesterday?"

Klaus considered his excursion the previous day to have been a success: it wasn't a perfect fit to Libra's office, but it fit the same general profile. It was spacious, had multiple rooms, and wasn't so easily accessed that it would be impossible to secure. Nor did it stand out as an obvious government building, which might be necessary if there were actors opposing the UN's efforts to contain the opposition. All that remained was for the money to be transferred and they would be able to begin furnishing the property beyond whatever spartan effects it came with.

Of course, someone actually concerned with the money they were paying probably would have had a far more difficult time of it than the massive man, particularly someone of less intimidating appearance.

"Klaus von Reinhertz," he added to the growing list of introductions, "My experience with portals is the result of two worlds irreversibly merging and unlikely to correspond to the situation as it presents itself here. Though you say you fought Miss Yukari in Japan? Even if she proves unable to help us solve the crisis, if she could help us with that level of instant travel then it wouldn't matter where in the world trouble occurs."

Why were all the children on their side of the world? The actual child was the most mature of everyone that had been stranded in Japan to start with... everyone else that had been there seemed terribly hotheaded, already often to their own demise. The refrain of "I'll win next time!" was hardly an unsurprising one in the context of rivalries and friendly competition, but really, without any attempt to improve?

Still, the smart girl was asking for magical expertise: "I have some experience in the field of dimensional manipulation," though it was far more in the sense of 'literally manipulating time and space to make a side dimension' than teleportation. It was a shame that she hadn't any access to them.
Isabelle d'Antibes

Polishing off the remainder of her meal, Isabelle rose to her feet, declining to look around to see if she was being noticed. That would only serve to give away how intentional this all was... rather than making it seem like she was simply socially deaf. "Very well, Saber, let's go for a walk."

Leading the way, the Executor slipped her hands into her pockets, palming a pair of relatively unobtrusive handles. It wouldn't do to be caught unarmed if the Master decided to take the opportunity to strike at her... though Saber should be more than enough to keep her safe, the keys would at least annoy a Servant long enough to get away. At least, that was the idea, if she had the speed to pull it off.

Evelyn and Elisabeth

If she'd had time, Evelyn might have thought to argue with her Servant about her chosen distraction. It had been made clear that the war was to be kept unobtrusive, but that didn't have to mean killing random civilians in the process. Or even failing that, flattening people with tree trunks launched like spears was the sort of thing that was only going to raise more questions. Of course, the idea that it was something for Lancer to stop might also have occurred in the time taken to argue... but there simply wasn't time to talk or think before her Servant decided to run off with her.

But even without time enough to think things through, Evelyn knew one thing: she wasn't a murderer. And time for that thought was all the time that she needed to act, knowing that there was no way she was going to entirely stop or slow such a massive force... but she didn't need to. It comparatively only needed a small nudge to go off target.

It was a shame there wasn't time for finesse, and the result was less "slightly off target" and more "somehow the tree curved in midair". An overkill that Evelyn was painfully aware of as Berserker fled the scene, fearing that the fire burning in her eyes would spread, and struggling to make out more than blurs. Though part of that was undoubtedly the speed, this wasn't the first time... and hopefully, like before, her sight would clear to more than a world of blurred shapes and numbers.
That much was enough to get her to blush? Lancer was adorable... and it only made her even more tease-able in the process. Though no doubt the direct approach would work well given who it was in particular, well... both for the sake of new experiences and an inkling of her own safety, there was no reason to let the pink-haired idol take the lead or regain her balance. All this moon talk was confusing the Emperor, however... how was there a grail on the moon? It would be remarkably hard to get something all the way up there and then set up a complicated ritual, though at least the World wouldn't be fighting back in that case... but could you even summon a Servant in such a situation?

With her serious declaration of protection over, and the girl sandwiched between two blondes, Nero had time to respond to her flirtatious attitude: "If Saber is a relative of mine, then her development missed something important." The 'something important' was quite noticeable with the cheery emperor deciding to take hold of Elizabeth's entire arm, "Umu, if you're going to protect me, then we should stay close."
Jiro blinked, looking up at the sky. The sky...? Why would he be looking at the sky? The last thing that he remembered was heading out to drink with some colleagues, and though it wasn't a common thing for the salaryman to not remember the rest of the night, it was by no means the first time... so how on Earth was it that he was waking up by all appearances in a grassy field looking up at a bright blue sky, with a cloud drifting here and there? He'd been in Tokyo, and that certainly wasn't as peaceful as this.

Correction: as peaceful as this, though it might still have a violinist somewhere in the vicinity.

It was at this point that the uncomfortable nature of Jiro's position became quite noticeable. At least three body parts were protesting the weight, slight as it was, pressing down on them, and twisting around to look revealed quite a few things. Right, so somehow last night had led to becoming a girl... something that had never seemed possible, but a developing vague recollection of bright lights suggested that it hadn't been entirely by choice. So... reincarnation? But wasn't that supposed to start from the beginning, not just dump you into things as a young girl with body parts that shouldn't exist...?

Jiro shook her head, getting to her feet now. At the least, she hadn't come back as a cricket or something, and kept all her skills. Maybe if this place had offices too, getting a job would be easier in the future... but first, maybe the musician over there would know where to go to get a meal? Or maybe have a mirror or something?

Getting closer, it was clear that the violinist was very fancily dressed. So, rich then? Great, he'd definitely know where to get something to eat, and Jiro tapped him on the soldier.

"Hey, where can get a bite ta eat?"
