I like anime, video games, and science. I'm currently in school studying to become an radiologic technologist. I'm in the initial stages, so I'm on my way. My favorite anime is Eureka Seven, and my favorite video game is a tie between Kingdom Hearts and Etrian Odyssey.
I have several story ideas, but currently lack motivation to write them out. I have plenty of notes for some of them so when I finally get around I'm prepared. That said, I absolutely enjoy group story telling like you do through role playing. One of my interests involved is world building and the connections between them if any.
One of my characters travels between worlds, dimensions and universes. What these are meant to be are different RPs. There seems to be some taboo around such a character, but I feel that is should be judged on a case by case basis. The idea of a seasoned character who has been on many adventures being able to share stories in passing sounds like a fun idea. I thought it would be an interesting idea that those stories could be from other RPs. He isn't meant to highjack the current RP, or be over powered. I admit, I can see that concern. Really though, he is meant to be an eccentric character with stories and treasures not before seen. The effects of these stories are meant to be entertaining, like fairy tales to the current cast. And what treasures he has or can use I'd restrict to what makes sense in the current world. But like I said before, it should be case by case. A learner, and a story teller. I think it's fun to link concept together through this character so the story could live on in new ways and perhaps give new RPs a different kind of character. Without upending everything of course.
If you’re so inclined, you can pick and choose who gets in up to what you’re comfortable with. That way everyone can apply, and you can choose who you’d want in the game. I’d say don’t feel pressured to go beyond what you’re comfortable with.
Well, I went ahead and made the character. Here goes.
Name: Sylvie Chase Age: 25 Pronouns: She/Her Trainer Type: Pokémon Ranger Hometown: Originally Snowpoint, Sinnoh, current residence listed at Vientown, Almia
Appearance: Sylvie is fair skinned standing at about 5’6” tall and is lanky in build. Despite this, she is quite capable athletically, and has enough stamina to hike several miles tirelessly. She has long green hair and blueish eyes. Though she likes her hair down, she has it in a pony tail or other styles that keep it away from her face when working. She wears breathable clothes such as t-shirts, tank tops, shorts and skorts. When on business she has a red vest or a red jacket for adverse weather. She also has a brimmed red hat and gloves. Her preferred footwear is boots. She has a watch, and though she likes jewelry, she hardly wears any for practical reasons. She keeps her essentials in a small belt bag that sits at her waist and a cross-body bag around her back.
Personality: She is quite peppy and ready to help anyone in a bind. She is always glad to meet new people and expand her connections. It helps especially in her line of work when cooperation can make or break an operation. Challenge-focused, she looks for the next thing that needs doing and goes for it. Ready and willing to take on any problem regardless of the difficulty. She is often first in line to take on the seemingly impossible. To that end she is also incredibly patient and kind, rarely letting her temper get to her. It’s joked in her inner circle that if anyone managed to get Sylvie mad, they must have done something incredibly evil.
History: Sylvie was born in Snowpoint City, and there she was raised until she was seven. Her family had moved to Almia, the home her father was originally from. Being out and about wasn’t new to Sylvie. She became familiar with her parents, mainly her father, always being on the move, conserving this and protecting that. She recalls faintly of her father spending several weeks holed up deep inside Snowpoint temple, preserving the ruins within. Sylvie admired her parents commitment and when she was old enough, she enrolled in the Ranger School and become a Pokemon ranger. She learned fast and quickly rose the ranks. She proved to be reliable, and was one of the few who responded first whenever the anything like Team Dim Sun tries to take root. It was her dedication and reliability that granted her the title of Top Ranger, and with it the ability to assign herself her own ranger missions as the needs arose. This also let her perform ranger tasks outside the region, letting her join Rangers in those region that had traditional teams. It was during one of these operations involving a smuggling ring trying to profit off revived fossil Pokemon. The operation was simple enough, but since it cross over several borders, Sylvie got involved to both end the smuggling, and find proper homes for the hundreds of displaced fossil Pokemon. Displaced in both home and era. Despite that being successful, there was one Cranados that proved to be very problematic, using it’s hard head to tear through most containment methods. After the third escape attempt that set the recently rescued fossil Pokemon roaming out and about the city, Sylvie took it upon herself to deal with it. Having gone home to Almia, she was still holding onto the Cranados. Any sanctuary she brought it to would end up calling the local rangers to take it somewhere else because it kept knocking out the other Pokemon and disrupting everyone. It was her mother that suggested that maybe it would be better suited in the hands of a trainer who could spend the time to properly train it. An idea Sylvie wasn’t opposed to. She grew up watching battles, and before she met her father, her mother was deep into the league. She could see first hand the dedication some trainers had in raising the potential of their pokemon. By this time, Cranados had finally stopped trying to fight her or her partner Pokemon. The more Sylvie thought about it, the more she felt like the best person to deal with it would be herself. That was it. A new side to fulfilling the Pokemon ranger ideals, and calming Cranados’s pent up competitive nature. And with her mother helping guide her, Sylvie transitioned from a ranger of the Ranger Union, to that more of those she met outside of Almia. Protecting nature, while also becoming strong enough to handle any other challenge sent her way. Trainers, and rangers, putting two together for the betterment of those Pokemon. Only way to go was up, and if she was going to do this, like everything else she put herself through, she was going for the top.
Goals: To get stronger for the love of the game. Maybe to help out her Pokémon's issues, as well.
Team
Name: Belle Species: Sylveon Personality: Selfless and caring to both Sylvie and her Pokemon. She is also rather strict with the team as well. She is one of the few entities that can restrain the rest of the team where Sylvie can sometimes fail. She is very protective of her flock, often treating everyone as her brood when the going gets tough. Stats: Endurance: A Power: A Speed: B Adaptability: A Potential: D
Name: Parry Species: Rampardos Personality: Can be difficult to get along with. While he is very friendly and protective of Sylvie and her Pokemon, it can be too much when interacting with strangers. Thankfully, he isn’t outright hostile to other trainers or Pokemon, but he does have a very aggressive nature and competitive streak. He will challenge anyone, especially other trainer’s Pokemon, regardless of their perceived strength just to prove himself. Stats: Endurance: B Power: S Speed: A Adaptability: D Potential: A
Name: Thea Species: Vespiquen Personality: She likes to be the center of attention. She demands respect from everyone, and leaves any menial tasks to others. She likes sweet things, and receiving attention. If she’s ignored, she will throw a fit. The facade quickly falls when faced off against Pokemon stronger than her, though she will desperately fight to regain whatever status she thinks she lost until one side is defeated. Stats: Endurance: C Power: A Speed: B Adaptability: A Potential: C
Name: Skitters Species: Joltik Personality: He is rather curious and easy to lose track of. He likes to hide in small places but also easily falls victim to his appetite. Sylvie carries batteries on hand just to coax him out of whatever crevice he decided to get himself stuck in. Surprisingly, it’s easier to find him in urban areas because he can be found leeching off electrical outlets. Stats: Endurance: D Power: B Speed: A Adaptability: B Potential: A
Name: Valentine Species: Mantine Personality: Very friendly Pokemon who really like surfing. If he gets the chance it will sweep up Sylvie and take her into the water. If given even more of the opportunity, he will do that with any new friend Sylvie meets as well. If there isn’t a suitable body of water around, he will make the surrounding area wet and make do. Stats: Endurance: A Power: C Speed: B Adaptability: A Potential: C
Name: Orion Species: Bronzong Personality: Is rather overprotective of itself, and really only fights in self-defense. It doesn’t like to be around others, friendly and hostile, and will keep to itself. If bothered, it will move away. The only people it tolerates being near by choice is Sylvie and Sylveon. Stats: Endurance: S Power: B Speed: F Adaptability: B Potential: C
There are definitely merits to both. Looking at it now, the character I'm making would better fit the latter of the two options. But I can also understand wanting to have a Rp focused more on having come to oneself and now it's time to showoff the progress against other like individuals. So I can adjust.
Tentative interest. Question, is there media you are wanting us to stick to, or avoid? Like video games, books, movies, anime, live action shows, plays, nonfiction works, etc.?
It was only a moment, but to the group, it felt like an eternity. Fia was more than willing to bargain with the djinn, but everyone else was vehemently against it. For Fia, the deal was more than just the trinkets she could potentially walk out with. That was only an after thought, something the others might be able to take advantage of to better their own prowess against the unknowns of the twilight lands. Given the stern injunctions of some, and the silence from everyone else, it was clear that only Fia saw this as a boon rather than a curse. Arcan held out his hand, expecting Fia to follow through perhaps. In that moment, Fia had a thought. Something like the ancient Djinn was an encounter Fia never thought she’d experience so early on her adventure to unlocking her own potential with worldly power. She was too focused on the what if rather than the reality of the situation. Just moments ago, Fia warned them of the untold power ancient Djinn could possess/ Fia had to take her own words to heart. She realized that despite how much she had learned and assimilated, she was not on that level. Fia looked at Arcan in the eye and then down at his extended hand. She took a half step forward, and gingerly placed two of the objects into it, positioning them so they wouldn’t fall out of his grasp. The one item she kept, as per the deal Arcan himself, presented, was the leaf-like brooch. A once in a lifetime opportunity perhaps, but there were still many years left in hers. It was too early to indebt herself into that of a singular djinn, as unique as he was. She did take some solace in knowing where Arcan called his domain, so perhaps in the far future, Fia could return and maybe attempt another dialog with the ancient djinn. “Alright, darling. I’ve heard you. Theriadore's trinkets belong here, and I won’t put any more stress on my sweet dear Miwa. And everyone else, for that matter.” said Fia. She looked at Miwa for a moment then back at Arcan, “I guess we’ll be leaving now.” Not soon after she finished speaking, Jazdia returned to the group. She looked furious and concerned at the same time. Her face attempting to remain smooth, but Fia could tell something was off. “Mad? Maybe.” said Fia. She tossed the brooch a foot into the air before catching it in her palm and stashing it away. “But I’m not going to poke the bear any further here. I don’t mean to worry you. Sometimes a girl just can’t help but want to leave with something shiny. Like I said, I misunderstood Arcan’s generosity when we first arrived. I think we pushed fate enough today. You want to leave? By all means, lets. Come dear Miwa, I’m sure there are other curses within these cursed lands for you to cleanse away from here.”
This was unexpected. Given how dear this vault and its contents were to Arcan, she was surprised that an option other than surrendering the newly acquired treasures was even presented. Fia completely ignored the horrific expression Vesemir held. Testing their luck against such a being so soon after he nearly brought down the cave in on them was probably not his idea of smart decision. Still, Fia listened as Arcan explained each of the items. Fia would have figured out what each did eventually, but this saved her a lot of time. “Oh? I like the sound of that.” said Fia, her arms lowering slightly, but the items she ‘claimed’ were still presented openly. Especially with the claim that they ‘could take more than that.’ It made it sound like they could walk back into the showroom and potentially walk out with more artifacts. In some ways, it still seemed fair to the young mage. Everyone was welcomed in, so everyone walks out with a prize. Also considering what happened to the last guest and the bout between he and his companions leading to the death of an entire city. Fia contemplated pushing their luck further in this regard. The ancient djinn’s insistence on putting the items to good use caught Fia’s ears. In her line of reasoning, that means just using the items in general. Clearly some of these items power had waned. Perhaps one of the reasons is they were lying dormant for so long. One who takes pride in their creations often wish to seem them in action, and hope that they continue to provide actual benefit to the outside world. Museums are well and good, but this vault was true to its name. And everything inside was wasted potential. But Fia had a feeling that one of the reasons card holders were allowed to claim some of the treasures in the first place was to release them from their prison. So far, the items and their effects were stunted. It was hard to gauge how different or potent the items were at their expressed purpose. Fia’s chromatic heart already provided her with an effective boon when it came to conserving mana and increasing her own power. Still, treasure was treasure and Fia was keen on accepting the offer. With the exception of the one item that Eblana had her eyes on, Fia was confident that she could make use of the others in one fashion or another. “Well, I’ll be sure to use whatever artifacts I’m able to walk out with. Though, I have a feeling that isn’t my decision to make alone. So darlings, if no one has an objection, I might just accept."
Well, considering everything that took place just moments ago, Fia’s decision to grab a couple goodies of her own was probably ill advised. Arcan knew that items were missing and probably which ones, but he didn’t know who. Fia paused in thought as the others discussed what may have happened to the missing items from the vault. There were pro and cons to each decision. When Vesemir couldn’t come up with anything, Fia took a step forward. She reached into her bad and presented three different jewelry items. “I may have misunderstood how far your generosity reached. Well, I apologize for my mistake. Here are the items.” said Fia. She kept her voice calm and steady. Her heart beat didn’t change and her breathing remained calm. All in an effort to prove completely sincerity in her confession. While she had hoped to be able to walk out with the items, ultimately it would be better to leave safely than it was to provoke the ancient djinn any further. And it was far too early into their adventure to throw Vesemir under the bus for mere trinkets. As much as those trinkets held untold power from ages long past. “If Vesemir would be so kind then, might he claim this item as his second?” Fia asked more directly towards Vesemir than to Arcan. With her other hand, Fia picked up the piece of jewelry Eblana was looking at most intently just before the group left the workshop to investigate the djinn’s rage. A certain someone in our group appeared to covet this intricately beautiful piece, and I think it would be a stunning addition.” As for the other two items, Fia looked at them longingly, but only for a moment before she presented them to Arcan to take from her hands. They were still in the vault, Arcan's domain. And Fia was not ready to poke the bear in his own home. Fia hoped this gesture proved both genuine misunderstanding and willingness to amend the situation.
