Angelica had spent the next few hours the day before familiarizing herself with the layout of the academy's classrooms and lecture halls, at the same time hanging around the art room for awhile to have a look at the mini gallery of past students' work. She had then returned to her room early to prepare and rest for the first day of classes. She had little problem getting up in the morning, possibly energized by the change in environment. She was hardly used to the business formal dress code, but figured it could be a challenge for her to come up with different ways to express her individuality. The rules did not state that their bags had to look just as boring as their clothing, and as she did her hair, she decided to wear it as she usually did, because instead of her hairstyle clashing with her attire, she found that her messy waves worked well with the outfit to give her a fresher and more youthful image.

Having a test at the very start of the day dampened her mood slightly, but she found the rest of the classes to be rather interesting, even science. She would hear her family talk about science all the time back home, but here, where there was no pressure to do something related to it for a living, she was contented with making the effort to study it. Besides, that science homework would allow her to get a little creative with the diagrams they had to include. She was glad that the drama class eased the students in with some theory, though she wondered how she would do when the more practical lessons started. She could not act for nuts, or at least she believed she could not since her forte was visual arts and not performing arts.

As Erik had said he hoped, they did see each other during classes. In fact, she noted that all their classes were the same on Monday. It was only natural to gravitate to familiar faces, and so she ended up spending all her lesson time for the day next to him. She thought herself fortunate to have been acquainted with him the day before, for although she did not speak much, it was still nice to not have to go through the first day alone. In addition, he was clearly a diligent student, making him less of a distraction and more of a motivation to be around. Erik had also seemed to have made friends with Alex Pearson, who joined them for several of the classes. She was not quite sure how he was used to being treated or wanted to be treated, but he seemed friendly, and she would like to think that she was at least pleasant with the teen idol.

She headed back to her room after classes were over for the day, wanting to rest for awhile before starting on that English and science homework, since those were daily classes. She had a pretty good view of the sports field through her window, and she figured she could watch whatever was going on down there whenever she would decide to take a break from her work.

"Casey," she stated in response to his inquiry about her own name. "Angelica Casey, but you may refer to me as Angie, as I have no qualms about 'more casual communication' between us, as you have put it. It's a pleasure."

She listened intently as 'Erik' continued speaking about his appreciation for art while admitting that he did not have a natural aptitude for it. It seemed to her that he was going out of his way to relate to her interest. She could not remember the last time this had happened, as even the few whom she had encountered who were open to a discussion about art usually did not bother going into such detail with their opinions. This made her wonder if he had any hidden intentions for doing this, but she figured that there was no point in pondering over it, at least for the time being. People had different ways of just making friends, after all.

"Indeed, such methods are fantastic ways of expressing aspects of one's individuality. You have a keen interest in obtaining knowledge in this area in spite of your talents lying elsewhere. It's always favorable to be open to a variety of fields, I suppose."

She then gave him another eyebrow raise when he implied that his academics had gotten him into the academy. "Ah, so you're here on scholarship. I've heard how that can be, and I'd say that I'm sorry that you had to go through all that pressure, but you seem to enjoy learning, so all that studying probably wasn't that much of a strain on you. I could be wrong, though. I'm glad that you feel such a way about my art, it feels good to know what it has done for you."

She nodded when he told her that he had to leave. "Understandable, I shall see you around too, Erik Fieldson."

Angelica watched the brunet leave the cafe, a slight smile finally forming on her face at the pleasant conversation they had just had. It was then quickly hidden by her latte cup as she lifted it to her lips. She finished her drink and stood from her seat to pack her things before leaving the place as well. Feeling a little more uplifted, she was ready to resume her exploration of the campus.

Angelica had been aware of the boy's movement after he had finished his reading, but thought nothing of it until he started speaking. She had not expected him to address her at any point during their time at the cafe together, and questioned the situation in her head for a brief moment before realizing that he could not be talking to anyone else. She listened to him speak, pleasantly surprised as it was rare for her to come across someone else who would willingly express their interest in her art. It was clear from his words that he had gotten a good look at her work, and that he had adequate knowledge of design to hold a conversation on it. She figured that his extent of knowledge should not be that surprising. Someone who would read their textbooks before classes even started was likely a philomath.

She leaned forward, arms crossed over the table while raising an eyebrow at the brunet, her unintentional failure to return his smile allowing her phlegmatic demeanor to remain. "An accurate interpretation, impressive. I'm glad to know that someone else shares my sentiments. Starting out in a new environment can be overwhelming. Some of us just need to get away from all that for a bit and find a sanctuary where we can collect our thoughts. I also admire your confidence. Not many would approach a stranger to admit that they've been observing their activity."

She hoped that last statement did not come across as abrasive or sarcastic, because she really meant what she had said. She wondered if this boy had any other intention in coming over to speak to her. Did he have somewhere to be after this, or did he desire some company? She decided not to ask, thinking that since he was so direct the first time, he would have no issue being straightforward with anything else he might want. She lowered her gaze to the textbook under his arm - a subtle indication of what prompted her assumption that he was new at the academy too. She then leaned back in her seat as her cold gray irises met his green ones once again.

"Regardless, your positive review of my piece is greatly appreciated, Mister... How may I address you?"
