I'm putting this guy up, kinda. I may make a different servant if I come up with a better idea.
Name: Jia Xu Titles:Assassin of Wan Castle, Grand Commandant, and Marquis Su Class: Strategist Gender: Male Birth and Death Dates: 147 – 11 August 223 Alignment: Neutral Good
Personality: The most humble of men can be a killer. Then there is Jia Xu. Often forgotten amongst the great minds of his time, he manages to shine brightly in his own way. A genius of his own making, who remained humble through war. He never sought the spotlight, and hid behind more famous faces. In fact, one could say that he saw his existence as shameful, and resented the admiration of others. In secret he judged them, and manipulated those he could. But it was never enough. Always shining brightly but hiding away from the public eye so that Zhuge Liang or Sima Yi could take the attention. In the end, his simple life ended up being his undoing. Nearly forgotten to history, he was salvaged by his devoted students, and raised up among the greatest names in the world in strategy. And yet, his desire is simple. He wishes of the grail to be forgotten. For he cannot stand being the center of any kind of attention.
Bio: Jia Xu started his career in the late Eastern Han dynasty as a minor official. In 189, when the warlord Dong Zhuo took control of the Han central government, he assigned Jia Xu to the unit led by Niu Fu, his son-in-law. In 192, after Dong Zhuo was assassinated by Lü Bu, Jia Xu advised Li Jue, Guo Si and Dong Zhuo's loyalists to fight back and seize control of the imperial capital, Chang'an, from a new central government headed by Lü Bu and Wang Yun. After Li Jue and the others defeated Lü Bu and occupied Chang'an, Jia Xu served under the central government led by them. During this time, he ensured the safety of the figurehead Han emperor, Emperor Xian, who was being held hostage by Li Jue. He also attempted to prevent internal conflict between Li Jue and Guo Si, but with limited success. After Emperor Xian escaped from Chang'an, Jia Xu left Li Jue and briefly joined the general Duan Wei before becoming a strategist of the warlord Zhang Xiu. While serving under Zhang Xiu, he advised his lord on how to counter invasions by the warlord Cao Cao, who had received Emperor Xian in 196 and taken control of the central government. In 200, during the Battle of Guandu between Cao Cao and his rival Yuan Shao, Jia Xu urged Zhang Xiu to reject Yuan Shao's offer to form an alliance and instead surrender to Cao Cao. Zhang Xiu heeded his advice. Jia Xu then became one of Cao Cao's strategists.
During his service under Cao Cao, Jia Xu made three important contributions. First, during the Battle of Guandu, he urged Cao Cao to switch from being on the defensive to adopting an offensive stance, which ultimately led to Cao Cao's decisive victory over Yuan Shao. Second, during the Battle of Tong Pass in 211, he suggested to Cao Cao to pretend to agree to make peace with the northwestern warlords Han Sui and Ma Chao, and then sow discord between them. Cao Cao heeded his suggestion, successfully stirred up internal conflict among the warlords, and then used the opportunity to defeat them. Thirdly, in the 210s, when Cao Cao's sons Cao Pi and Cao Zhi were fighting to be their father's successor, Jia Xu indirectly helped Cao Pi by giving him advice and hinting to Cao Cao that he should choose the older son to be his heir apparent. After Cao Cao's death in 220, Cao Pi ended the Eastern Han dynasty by forcing Emperor Xian to abdicate the throne to him, and founded the state of Cao Wei with himself as the emperor. As an expression of gratitude to Jia Xu, Cao Pi appointed him as Grand Commandant – one of the top three positions in the Wei government – and promoted him to a district marquis. Between 220 and 223, Jia Xu advised Cao Pi against attacking Cao Wei's rival states, Eastern Wu and Shu Han, and focus on internal development. However, Cao Pi ignored his advice and invaded Wu, but ended up sustaining heavy losses and not making any significant gains. Jia Xu died in 223.
Weapon: Jia Xu while not famed for his skill in any particular weapon, is said to have possessed a sickle and chain. With this he would choke the life from those who faced in him battle, or just slice them open. A sword can also be manifested, should he require it. But he likely won't.
Stats: Strength: D Endurance: D Agility: C Magical Energy: C Luck: B Noble Phantasm: B
Class Skills: - Advice of the Strategist A+: Advice given by Jia Xu is garunteed to lead the listener to a 100% success rate, but only if they listen. Jia Xu was a strategist in life, and those who listened to him would often win. Those who disregarded his advice were often brought to ruin. When he decrees a situation lost, often times the only thing that can defeat his predictions would be a servant with a high luck stat. - Command of the Strategist A: Jia Xu was revered as a genius strategist, both in war, and in times of peace. He could inspire troops to give their lives, and when he speaks he gives all others an endless desire to accomplish his words. In that way, any army he leads will fight to the death. Personal Skills: - Decider of the next Ruler A: In his lifetime, Jia Xu selected the successors of many powerful rulers, often by advice alone. His influence as a result allows him to, through selection, increase the stats of one other servant at a time in the grail war. Increasing their abilities by one parameter each. (This can be utilized to raise his own stats as well.) - Uncrowned Master of Strategy -: Jia Xu often worked behind the scenes, or manipulated others. As a result, his renown never reached as far as it should have, as he was happy to let others take the achievement for his actions. As such, all his his skills and stats are seen by others as being ranked down by one parameter. If his true name is learned, this skill is canceled out. - Evidence Tampering C: Evidence of Jia Xu's presence are wiped. Making it difficult to remember his face, weapons, or anything about him. Physical evidence or video footage wouldn't be effected, only the memory of his attack. A result of him being mostly forgotten because of his tendency to manipulate others.
Noble Phantasms:
Name: Burning of Wan Castle Rank: C Type: Anti-Bounded Field Description: In his lifetime, one of Jia Xu's greatest moments was the attempted assassination of Cao Cao, the one day founder of the Wei Empire in China. Jia Xu lured Cao Cao into Wan Castle, and then set the building ablaze. The whole castle burned, killing Cao Cao's bodyguard in the process. As a noble phantasm, Jia Xu creates a territory. This can be a temple, a building, or area of preference. Inside this territory he can move undetected, but should an enemy enter his territory, he can utilize his noble phantasm to burn Wan Castle. This can ignite specific areas of his territory, or outright destroy the entire area, forcing him to move on and reestablish his territory elsewhere. This noble phantasm has a second effect, as it can be used to destroy the territory and bonuses of others. By using this noble phantasm, he sets a flame inside another servant's territory, robbing them of the bonuses they would gain. This makes Jia Xu a perfect counter for casters who may rely on territorial control.
Name: Marquis Su Rank: B Type: Anti-Unit Description: The act of rising to rule an empire is difficult. Always requiring power over others with more skill than you. In a regard, this skill is on par with that of a Ruler's skill to command other servants. Upon learning the true identity of a servant, Jia Xu will manifest a single command seal. This command seal allows him to make a single command of a fellow servant, either to abandon a cause, or to empower them if needed. Against enemies, the ability to make them obey even for a moment is not only useful, but outright necessary for ones own survival. Nothing less could be expected of a master strategist.
The rooms felt... Well they looked very mechanical. Clearly it was expected of the teams living here to operate at base, or at the very least were so busy working that pleasantries did not exist. Since Eita found no photos of loved ones or any general material goods outside of the bare minimum. Or... There had managed to be an evacuation. He doubted that was the case, but at the very least this told them something about the lives of the scientists. At the very least he made sure to inspect the drinks, and picked up one bottle in particular. The one that seemed most familiar. A cherry vintage. He'd have to bring it back for "inspection." Customs might try to stop him, but considering every team needed a victory drink he figured why not? "You'd think if the beverages were any good, an evacuation team would have made sure to take these with them." Eita muttered, loud enough for his ally to hear. "At the very least studying the compounds used in the drinks could help use determine what kind of foods they prefer. Even if it does end up being just our own."
While Tapo translated, it was up to Eita to mostly stand and watch guard. And yet, something came to mind. Why did this seem to be the only diary? Did the research team who worked here only keep notes in the science lab? Is it possible that somebody else came through and took the others, or made sure to destroy anything about the personal lives? Unlikely, but Eita liked the idea. Made the whole scenario feel bigger. Until... "Nori Kinsei?" Eita turned to read over Tapo's shoulder, before realizing that was rude and took a step back. "If Nori Kinsei was here that could mean anything. Doesn't have to be him. Could be some kind of name that became popular in this region after he arrived." But maybe... No, he was overthinking things. Clearly a coincidence, but this would have to be brought back to the Kages. "Make sure to keep that. It might be important." He said, already thinking of what they just read.
"Clearly the scientific research team met their ends at the hands of something with venom. After all, the journal confirms a bite. Can't be an insect. They have stingers for poison. Ruling out mammals, who except in rare cases don't possess any kind of gland for poison, and we're left with reptiles." Already Eita was devising a weapon for serpents. A smooth metal cylinder was being formed between his fingers, shaped by his metal chakra. Upon finishing the solid piece, insects began to crawl over it. Shaping the tip like a spear, with the odd hole in the medium length pole. A handle ended the whole thing, as if it was designed to be thrown like a kunai. Passing the makeshift weapon over to Tapo, he smiled. "For you. My insects cannot eat through the scales of a reptile, so use this to stab them." It wasn't much of a plan, but at least it was something.
"We should do one more quick sweep, and then check in on the others. At the very least pooling our information together will have some degree of benefit."
So I think @Peace is the only one who hasn't posted something. If you are still on, update me on your situation. When do you think you'll be free to post? I'll give you till the end of the month to get something up, (Doesn't need to be long) or I'll have to start looking for a replacement.
What was she doing? Astrid had avoided her brother's guild, leaving first chance she got. Dressed up in a cloak, letting it obscure her terrifying visage. She just wanted away from that guild. She wanted far away. She wanted to take a break from it. To not have to deal with such a change. Yet, when she looked up from the city streets, all she could see was that pillar-esque tower that made her sick. This wasn't earth. She wasn't going to wake up in the morning. This dream had gone on too long for that, and the voice in her head! That pounding voice that kept pointing her to people and saying... Kill. She turned away each time, hand over her blindfolded eyes. "No. I'm not doing that." But why? You did it before. "That was in a game! I'm not killing people with lives!" Look at you. You can't even be around your own brother, and his castle. Why? "Because..." She had no reply to that. There was nothing she could say to justify that. Maybe she didn't know herself that well. She just felt... So out of here element! She used to be the best! And now, she discovered she had to deal with the results of that choice. To be the best she had to kill others to own a Witchblade, and then... She was here, and if she did that, she'd be a monster. In a way, it was that realization that this wasn't a game anymore made her sick. And she couldn't keep playing this game. "I want to go home." You can't. You have to stay here and be my host.
People in armor ran past her. Men in blue armor, and her mind was snapped to the world going on around her. "Civilian, you must leave, there are invaders and you must get to shelter!" One of the blue armored men said, a hand resting on her shoulder. "We shall pr-" "Don't, I don't need protection." Astrid said, eyes narrowed at the guard, though he couldn't see it. "I'm a mage, I can protect myself." While she might not be a mage, revealing herself as anything but would be dangerous. Simple minded people didn't need to know what she was. "Alright, but please, try to stay safe." "Fine. Just, leave me alone." KILL "No..."
Yeah, if everybody is both their Meister and their weapon, then the weapons aren't stuck being bored. Since weapons don't exactly do much once they've transformed.
Two more arrivals. Good. Their party of three had grown, to a party of five. Two still unaccounted for but they would show themselves in time. Some Masters usually avoided getting involved, and would work by sending out their servant and remaining hidden themselves. While it secured their safety, Emilia often found the benefits were outweighed by the risk. Since one would be unable to fully cooperate with their servant when they were so far away. But then, some just aimed to survive, and that was more than enough for them. The older woman remained seated, with her legs crossed, and her hands pressed together, but every so often she adjusted her hands, as if thinking about knitting again. Such an old hobby.
She wasn't surprised that Thule had sent a representative. In truth she had planned for it, but even she had to admit it was shocking... No intriguing that he'd have a Valkyrie as his servant, especially one so open about who she was. Hildr, one of the famous deathseekers who judged men and woman as they died. She had to admit, it was going to be useful to have a being like that allied with them. Then there was the Master himself. Thule. The magical community who had supported the Nazi party on their initial rise to power. In a way, they were the real power behind the crown, in a way of course. One could never say the Fuhrer was bound to them in any way shape or form.
"Well, we now have Master of Berserker, Archer, and Lancer." Saber said, already smiling at the Lancer. She was no conqueror like him, but even he had to appreciate the courage of just outright announcing ones true name. "I'd love to introduce myself to you, Ms. Hildr, but my Master would frown upon it if I told you I was anything other than Saber." He turned that smile to Emilia, who nodded back with a firm gaze. Saber would then hold out his hand to Archer, as if expecting some kind of friendly brotherhood. After all, they were all fighting for one side, no matter how short that alliance may last.
"Welcome, Ronzekruetz." Emilia said, with her attention on Berserker's master. She could not see Berserker yet, but in time she expected him to stand amongst the others. "Despite your occupation, I expect those on the other side of this war would more likely fall under the spectrum of being mercenaries too. The only difference is that you are not so... Boarish." She liked that word. Chaud at the very least seemed eloquent, which was a fine quality in any man. No matter their job description. "At the very least we know exactly where you stand." There was an implication that others may catch, but it was clear that she found it very difficult to trust others. But, at the very least she knew for sure she could trust Chaud to operate under this own best interest.
"Archer, it is a pleasure to meet you." Saber said, a big hand held out. In a way, he wouldn't have been surprised if others mistook him for a Berserker. It was only his mannerisms that made him seem like anything else. "Expect in time that we will be sharing glorious stories of war, once our masters no longer demand so much secrecy between us." The oddly dressed servant flashed a smile broader than all the others, and then he looked away, for outside the window there was fire. __________________________________________________________________________
TEAM BLACK
Gathering the Team
The man in white only smiled, and turned to each master in turn. Yuri seemed so, interesting. In truth, while the man shouldn't make bets, he was sure he'd love to see Yuri's actions in the way. After all, a man with no real direction in life stumbling into such an event? It seemed so intriguing. Like a genuine human moment. "It's true, I did say wish. And that is where you, have a choice." The man stepped in closer, and whispered only words that Yuri need listen to. Since the others should all be focusing on Caster's new plan. "When your team grasps the grail, give it to me, and the Clocktower will make sure you are not only endlessly wealthy, but that your personal desires are all met. You will become unshackled. Because to claim that wish, the others will betray you. Only the clocktower can give you what you really need, and the grail cannot." Before letting Yuri reply, the man took a step back, a letter now resting in Yuri's grip. "Only the man still in the game at the end gets to make a wish. I'm sure you understand, survivors of your team will fight you, and you them. There is only one true course of action in the end." With a smile, he began to walk away. "If you have questions, Mr. Yuri Fyodorovich Romanyuk, that letter contains all the information you will ever need to find me." And the man was gone, leaving the team to their actions.
Their actions... And the smoke they could see from the windows of their new home. __________________________________________________________________________
FIRST EVENT
___________________________________________________***___________________________________________________ THE BURNING OF ST. HEDWIG'S CATHEDRAL
The Cathedral of St. Hedwig had seen far better years. A year ago its very own canon had been taken away. The priest, Bernhard Lichtenberg, had prayed for the jewish souls that suffered in the results a tragedy. The Night of Shattered Glass, where the people of germany had destroyed homes, and shattered lives like stained glass windows. The priest had prayed, and the police took him away. Nobody talked about it, but many knew it was a tragedy, and they'd never see him again. Not that anybody tried to stop the police. People still went there to pray. The people of germany, and the odd person needing peace.
It no longer looked like the pristine building of old. The doors were gutted. Blown off their hinges by a force of nature. A force of an explosion, with people staggering out of the depths of the building that bled smoke and ash. From all over Berlin, anybody could look out their window and see the smoke that poured into the darkening sky of night. The screams of people echoed down the streets, with the people so rapidly fleeing the structure that the area may as well have been a graveyard, except for the odd person looking out a window to gaze upon the dying building. That dying building, and the people still trapped inside.
"Well, the war starts with an eruption. Clearly the gods have a sense of humor." Saber said, gazing out the window as his body slowly drifted back into spirit form. What each master did now, would show what kind of person they are.
