Digimon: Digital Pets

Digimon have started emerging in the human world. They are all Baby 1/Fresh or Baby 2/In-Training level. Being seen as helpless, society decides to adopt these creatures. But disaster strikes when they start digivolving into Child/Rookie level and even Adult/Champion level, and begin rampaging through the human world. It's now up to you to figure out how to stop the destruction and violence.

In Character Info

Society is at unease with the Digimon, who they previously treated as pets, and angry mobs have taken up hunting down any Digimon they can find. You have a Digivice, a handheld device that aids you in digivolving your Digimon. You gained this device suddenly in a flash of light when you treated your Digimon companion as an intelligent creature and they evolved, not into a rampaging monster, but as a sapient creature. This Digivice, as your Digimon friend told you, will allow you to store your Digimon inside of it to hide them. You have decided to find a way to stop the violence and destruction being caused, and figuring out where the Digimon came from might be a good place to start.

Out of Character Info

The Digimon have been feeding on human energy, which is what's causing their fast evolution process. Human belief can alter a Digimon that feeds on their energy, enough to turn them into rampaging monsters instead of intelligent creatures like they should be. This began due to confusion at the initial digivolving making humans who witnessed it see the Digimon as bizarre and potentially unsafe, and as this belief persisted, it escalated into fear at the monsters they appeared to be.

Rules and Notes

  • I expect you to post at least once a week, if not more.
  • Please post your CS in the OOC tab first. If I approve it, you should then post it to the Character tab.
  • Cursing is allowed, but be reasonable IC.
  • Japanese names and terminology is allowed, but let's try to avoid confusion.
    • This will be justified in universe as language differences.
  • This will need to be a collaborative effort on the plot, but I will have the greatest control as the GM. I am willing to take advice on the plot from everyone involved.
  • If anyone wants to apply as a Co-GM, I would appreciate the help.
  • Romance is allowed, whether straight, gay, etc, but please keep it SFW.
  • You will control both a human and a Digimon character.
  • Your Digimon doesn't need to follow official lines. It doesn't even necessarily need to look like a canon line. Yeah, normally Tamers have their Agumon digivolve into a Greymon, but the unique thing about Digimon is that the sky is basically the limit on what Digimon can turn into.
  • You can use nearly any Digimon on wikimon.net, even those listed as "unreleased" if you don't make things too convoluted. That said, I may ask you to change to a different Digimon to not be as complicated if you have to make up too many details due to not much being known about them.
  • Feedback is welcome.

Alright. That's enough players to start this up. I'm going to go work on the main post now.
So I had a few ideas for Digimon roleplays, and was wondering if anyone was interested in any of them.

1: Digimon Survival. You end up in the digital world, and must survive until you can find a way out. You do not automatically get a Digimon partner, and must befriend a Digimon to gain one. You could also find a Digi-Egg and get your partner that way. Just befriending a Digimon doesn't guarantee they will be your partner though, as you have to form a mutually close bond with each other. The goal is to figure out who or what sent you here and why, so you can get back to the human world. For argument's sake, you can choose what you want your Digimon partner to be OOC, and sooner or later they'll end up as such.

2: Digimon Tamers 2.0. Not actually set in Digimon Tamers' world, but some version of the real world where Digimon somehow end up real, just like in Tamers. The world's rules aren't going to necessarily be the same as in Tamers, and this will follow its own storyline.

3: Digimon: Digital Pets. Digimon have started emerging in the human world. Nobody quite knows much about them, because they are all Baby 1 or at most Baby 2 level. Somehow, society decides to adopt these "helpless" creatures, but this leads to disaster, as now they have human energy to feed off of. It isn't long before they start digivolving into Child/Rookie level and even Adult/Champion level, and cause destruction.

You, however, don't just have a Digimon, you have a Digivice. It turns out that human belief can alter the Digimon, enough to actually turn them into monsters rampaging through society when the Digimon digivolves from human energy, but you recognized your Digimon as an intelligent creature, or maybe you just believed they were intelligent and since they fed on your energy, it became true. Now you have to navigate a delicate situation where Digimon are being hunted by humans while also figuring out how they got here in the first place so you can stop the destruction and violence.

Notes:

  • I am willing to admit I don't have hard plot lines in mind for any of these. I'm willing to take advice on the plot from those that join. Heck, if anyone is willing, I'd even accept some Co-Gms.
  • I don't mind cursing, but keep it reasonable IC. An 8 year old probably isn't going to curse much, even if they actually know the words somehow.
  • I don't mind the original Japanese terminology, but make sure it isn't confusing. For example, in Japanese, Ultimate is Perfect level, and the Mega level is the Ultimate level. Unfortunately that's how things ended up, so it's probably best to specify which one you are talking about. We can even justify this as in universe language differences, so seriously, don't be afraid to use the original Japanese terms and names if that is more to your liking.
  • You will control both a human and a Digimon character, but on the survival idea, you will have to wait to use your Digimon character until I give the okay, and even then, you won't have them as a partner right away, as previously stated.
  • The Digital Pets idea is one I actually tried on a different site once before, but it didn't get far. If that is the idea people want, then I am definitely going to need to make it a more collaborative group effort on the plot to avoid the same fate.
  • I'm willing to modify these ideas if people would prefer something similar but different. Like if you actually want to play a reboot of Digimon Tamers with the same world rules, then I'd be willing to consider that instead of it being a new version of our real world. Or maybe you'd want to play the survival idea but getting your Digimon partners sooner than later, which I'd also be willing to consider.
  • Feedback is welcome. I'm old and mature enough to handle negative feedback if that is what you have. Can't get better if I don't know what I did wrong.
@BrokenPromise

I see. Thank you again for the answer. You've been very helpful.
I have a new question. How exactly do you get Co-Gm's? There is probably a very obvious answer, but I've never rp'd on a site that is solely dedicated to roleplay, so I've never even seen the concept of Co-Gm's. Do you just say you're looking for one in the interest thread, or should you find one on the discord, or is there something else that should be done?
@BrokenPromise

Thank you for answering. I've always been bad at depicting my characters through artwork, but back when I used to roleplay in the past, I had an actual computer (er laptop) to edit images in the Paint app thingy if I found something close enough but wrong colors.

Now though, I just have my phone, and I don't have the money to test random editing apps that cost money, and unfortunately, the free stuff is much harder to work with than even that basic computer Paint app was, and I'm already bad enough at making images.

So I was just worried I wouldn't get anywhere here, but you've reassured me that I can just describe my character and probably get accepted. Thank you again.

As for the character interest, I guess I could try 1x1. I used to mostly do that back in the day, since it gave me more control, but nowadays, I tend to enjoy group projects more.

Maybe I should just accept that it is going to be awhile before they get accepted and actually try applying to roleplays with my character.

Thank you again for answering my questions.
Not sure if this is the right place, but some things I was wondering.

1: Do I need an image for my characters? I'm struggling to find an image that even looks like me. I know I should branch out and not just play myself, so don't worry about that, I was just trying myself as a sort of test character, and I just completely failed at finding a character that looks like me. I'm not exactly stereotypical though. Without my beard and mustache, I look like a woman, because I am short, and have a very feminine face, plus long hair that I almost always put in a ponytail. But I DO have the beard and mustache, which makes it harder to search for.

2: What if instead of finding interest for a roleplay, I try to find interest for a specific character instead? Would that be allowed? For example, I have a character for a potential Digimon setting, but they have a bit of a "main character" feel to them. I don't actually necessarily want them to be the main character, but I can understand the character might be a turn off for some, so rather than waste people's time constantly trying to get the character approved for a game, I try to just advertise the character in general, and see if anyone feels like they'd fit in their setting.

2 (continued): I know what you might be thinking "Why not just make your own roleplay?" and the answer is simply, I do not have even an inkling of an idea for a main plot in the Digimon setting. I barely have the general plot of my character down.

I'm sorry if this is the wrong place for this. I wasn't sure where to post this. Thank you for any help you can give me.
Hello, I'm ReksewTrebla. If you are curious about the name, it is Albert Wesker backwards. I used to be a big Resident Evil fan, and one day I started using some variation of this as my username, and have been at it since.

I'm not exactly new to rp, but it has been over a decade since I last really participated in it, so I am way out of practice.

I like group rps, but can work with 1x1 as well. I like a lot of things, including things such as Digimon, Pokémon, and Yu-Gi-Oh!

I'm not really sure what to say here, so I'll just say I hope to have fun here.
