The problem is that in your attempt to make them less cliche they kind of... Don't seem to be vampires at all. ^^; I'm not seeing how they're connected to vampire legends, which is making me question why they're "vampires" and not just some original species.

Okay, just got back and haven't read over the rest of the thread but kind of want to point out before we really go into more depth about stuff that spelling magic with a k has always kind of grated on me because I find it a little pretentious. ^^; Anyways, going to read what's been going on I guess. EDIT: @DAWNSTAR: Yes, something like that. XD Although I imagine them being a little more sabretoothed, but yeah. @Voltus_Ventus: Map looks great to me! Hopefully it's okay with everyone if I claim part of that eastern continent for the Ky-Ree. Re: Vampires: Just going to say that the vitae thing sounds a bit iffy, weird and a little bit nonsensical to me, honestly. It's magic... But it's not magic? And it's somehow better than magic or... Something? Honestly think it'd be better if we just kept things simple and just went with magic rather than... Whatever that's supposed to be. ^^; And they have no organs? Uh... What? Honestly they sound less like any vampires I can think of and more like some original magical race. Might be better if you just made them that rather than claiming they're vampires, in my opinion. Anyways, going to start work on writing up the Ky-Ree I guess. Might be a bit rough to begin with but we'll see how things turn out.

I kind of figure that lore would be a group effort with everyone chipping in a bit, honestly. Buuut like Voltus said, probably better to get races and stuff figured out first, really.

This seems very interesting, so naturally I am interested and have a few ideas on what I would like to do, does anyone mind if I take a crack at the map? I'll most likely be using paint and my skills could be better bit I'd like to try.

Even if it's just a rough thing to begin with it could be helpful, I guess, so I have no problem with it at least. ...Also noticed that no-one seems to have put forward interest on working on human civilizations. XD All else fails I might help chip in with a couple of ideas for that, I guess, but we'll see.

Could always just compromise and say that there's more than one kind of "vampire", one which is demonic and another which is undead? Would probably need to give them different names though to avoid confusion but yeah.

Anyways, um, building on that thing I mentioned earlier... Female and male of the race. The blurb beneath the female one applies more to some vague fantasy setting I work on whenever I get block (which happens more than I'd like, so... Yeah ^^;), and it would need a bit of reworking but the gist is that they're a proud warrior race, vaguely based on the Mongol hordes, have a strong sense of honour, treat war like an artform and are very opposed to slavery due to the entire race being enslaved centuries/millenia ago by some other race that if still exists they harbour an immense enmity towards. Also they ride giant tigers instead of horses. :D But um yeah, not sure if they'd work out or not but just throwing it out. If not then I'll probably call dibs on orcs and goblins and see if I can do something fun with that. Always good to have a fallback, after all. ^^;

Aw... And I was thinking of making a non-evil undead civilization. XD Although they were pretty much a rip-off of Ancient Egypt so probably better that I didn't if we want things to be at least slightly original. XD Oh well, hmmm... Actually, I do have a fantasy race I've been working on for a little while now that might fill in the niche for a warrior race. Kind of like orcs but not "always chaotic evil" and actually having a strong sense of honour, but not sure how well they'd fit in. I guess we'll see how things turn out and what everyone else wants to bring to the table.

Ooh... Interest, even if partially because over the past few months I've seen one of my favourite fantasy settings systematically destroyed as part of some big event but hey. ...But actually interested in the idea for reasons other than spite for the End Times, so yeah. World building's always fun. XD Little busy right now so I'll get back to you with ideas later but yeah. EDIT: Well, I suppose first thing to do would be to decide whether we're focusing on geography or cultures first, I guess. Do we grab a map and work out stuff from what's on it, or do we figure stuff out about races and civilizations and then try to find a map that fits? Hmmm. Speaking of races, do we go with the generic four races (to start with, at least) most fantasy settings go with (humans/dwarfs/elves/orcs, or at least their equivalents), or something different? ...If it's the former, I am not sure if it would be a good idea for me to go anywhere near the elves, since I will either try my hardest to make them not be the pointy eared mary sues that inhabit so many fantasy worlds or just turn them into racial supremecists because exaggerating their most common flaw (arrogance) is something I am guilty of doing from time to time. ^^; Hmmm... But yeah, want to see if this gets more interest and what everyone else thinks before I start going into too much depth, eheh.

Oh right, still here, just... Personality and history are always hard to write up. ^^; I mean I have the basic idea down, just having a little trouble fleshing things out. But hopefully Katana should be done... Sooner or later I guess. Also since she's loosely based on the teenage version from BatB, I guess that means there'll be at least one kid who isn't a brat running around. XD
