Current I mean, some people want to do it for the reason it’s supposed to be for, but it being all but outright mandatory, well.

@Ricky: I never thought about it like that, but it really can be, huh? I checked out the Mormons for a stint, and I can 100% see that being a reason behind them pushing that.

Tricks them into thinking it was their choice, when it was structured for them to fail.

The Amish doing that strikes me as a psychological way to keep people there. Isolate them > send them out > get culture shock > return to the comfortable rather than figure out a foreign culture.

Ashifa: Shoving/forcing the religion on someone isn't what Christianity should be about. I'm sorry if/that that's what's going on for you.

I have taken the 100th IC post. Where is my complimentary cookie?
“Friends?” Faira squeaked. “Friends?” You don’t befriend zombies!” If she had any doubt there was some relation, regardless of how small, between the two Mariannes, they all but dissolved. Her eyes widened as one of the undead caught sight of them and charged forward. Instinctively, she summoned flames around her, but thought better of using them. Zombies were bad enough without them being on fire. “Sever the heads!” Faira shouted at Conna’Cel as she reached for Little Ann protectively, wishing she had a weapon of some sort of her own. And I doubt they like music, she added as her mental inventory check came up with only the flute still in her makeshift pocket. As a couple of them neared her, their pace freakishly fast, she raised her free hand and summoned a dark shadow that expanded a good distance over the floor. The momentary sense of excitement buzzed through Faira as the two zombies fell into the dark hole, but it did not last long. She screamed and her powers took hold, turning her into a dark mass as the zombies stumbled from the shadows nearby, neither worse for wear save for a touch of disorientation.

Zaylin gave an animated sad sigh at Luca’s comment. “Sad, isn’t it?” She tilted her head toward Amy ad laughed as she caught Amy’s soft words. “Sometimes I swear my grandma’s one of those old, crazy gypsies. But don’t tell her I said that.” Zaylin stretched her back as the gentle, comforting tingle of the arriving night rose through her. She glanced up at the darkening sky, relishing the extra sense of strength, power, and confidence that bubbled up from her dragon blood. “Well, we could always randomly break out in song and see if anyone joins.” She paused, thinking about that a minute. “Or not. That might be a bit too weird. So, is socializing, staring at a fire, and eating s’mores the extent of tonight’s activities?”
“What? No, I’m not crying.” Faira shifted uncomfortably and moved so only one knee rested on the ground, the other ready to pull her to a stand as the girl neared her. As the child smiled at her, Faira returned the gesture meagerly as a courtesy before the child continued speaking. How doesn’t she have a… before Faira finished her thought, the child gave them a name. Faira's eyes widened slightly, but before she could react further, she looked over at the sound of groaning and shuffling floating down the hall. She stood as Rosaline went to investigate, the woman’s reaction making her mouth go dry. Her stomach dropped as she saw for herself what had frightened Rosaline. What doesn’t this place have to throw at us? “We’re going to have to move, if we stay here they’ll rip us apart before any of us could even scream.” “Yeah, what else is new?” Faira groaned softly in despair. “Well, let’s get outta here!”

Faira sighed in relief as the others answered her. Not wanting to continue looking around for fear of what she would find, she placed her head on her hands and closed her eyes for a moment, wishing away the house, hoping for a just couple moments where fighting for their lives was unnecessary. An achiness began to creep up on her as her body protested against running, being thrown, nearly drowning, and whatever else the wretched place decided it wanted to spit out at them. Drop the pity-party! she thought. We can get outta here. She took a deep breath, trying to convince herself of the words with minimal success. We will get outta here! I won’t let the… the so-called Collector win! Holding her breath, Faira unsteadily pushed herself up. Before she could take in any great detail, her attention went to a new young girl as the child greeted the group. Unlike Little Ann, something in the way the child stared fearlessly at the five with her red eyes unnerved Faira, While the others asked their questions, Faira pulled herself to her knees and sat on her feet. Brushing away the wet hair that clung to her face as well as she could, she turned her wary gaze from the child to the dim corners of the room in search of some way out before looking back to the girl.
