*Shrugs* I've only just a few days ago met you officially, but I've seen you around and know you got experience (I applied for the Emergence game right before the Guild fall), so go ahead and work up a sheet.

That's what I like to see. Hey yeah, didn't I reject you? I don't know, I rejected a lot of characters. Twitch, right?

Wicked. Let's see who can write a sheet quicker.

Side note, who's in Gotham? Just so I know who's standing in the way of my third reign on complete control over Gotham's criminal underworld. Heroes and Villains alike.

I dropped Ben 10 mostly because of a lack of effectiveness that I'd been having overall on the games. Would any of you mind if I took a different character to join YA?

I personally don't have a problem with it, the more the merrier, but my viewpoint is that you're GM and can do what the fuck you want to.

Er, um, I mean, that is to say, no you can't have a spot on our prestigious team. Unless I can write a villain sheet. For funsies. And also for playing.

Oh no! Dani, the teenage girl with an uncontrollable demon bound to her soul that grants her massive power when in the presence of evil has been kidnapped by a modern Nazi organization with a leader on the same level as, or perhaps worse than, Hitler! Surely this is the end for our golden heroine, as questionable a term that may be!

Man, this is not going to end well for anyone. In any case, waiting for a few members of my team to post before I do, since my next post will contain a time skip and I'm reluctant to do that until they've had their chances to finish up their things. Stuff, Lori.

Dani smiled weakly as Ben arrived, silently thanking whatever divine being it was that meant he was her company rather than HYDRA soldiers. Well, mostly Ben. It was him, really, just not human. Not that Dani had much of a standpoint to make judgements based on alternate forms. At least Ben had a choice of what. And when. And why. She shook her head and got focused.
"Engineering cap...sure..." she muttered, not really meaning for it to be loud enough to count as a reply, but with the engines roaring she had to raise her voice just to hear herself. She decided she may as well go the full hog and try and strike up some casual danger banter - Ben seemed to enjoy it whenever he was doing his thing, and what better time to get to know your only-recently-met teammates than frantically working on fixing a giant machine that she knew nothing about that the functioning of ensured the survival of at least a hundred people?
She was getting side tracked again.

"Why can't we switch over to occult magic and demonic energies? Works fine for me and Strange, and I know how to work that!" She said as she darted across the room, hopping a pipe and trying not to stumble on the shaking grating that was the floor. She planted two hands on a wheel and span it counter-clockwise three turns. "Kind of...I don't know if that ritual really 'worked' for me in the long-term..." she continued, grunting with the effort of the last turn as pressure built up in the pipe she'd closed before spinning on the spot and bending at the knees to deftly spin two knobs clockwise twice and once, diverting fuel flow to where Ben had pointed out to her. She stood and moved along a few feet again in four graceful strides, doing her best to stay level despite the hiss of the pipes and the wobbling of the floor. Just one more to turn to push heat exhaust somewhere it wouldn't be interfering with the new fuel-line...

"Motherfucker son-of-a-cuckold-bitch!" She shouted, alarming herself with her vulgarity. She rubbed her palms together, the skin stinging and reddening where the scalding valve wheel had nearly burnt her hands. Guess she hadn't been quick enough to divert the heat flow. She swore again and breathed deep and low, blowing out her breath and drawing a big fresh one before holding it and grasping the valve again to turn it just once, repressing the urge to yell as the metal burnt her palms with blisters. But the wheel turned and clunked as it did so, and Dani could feel the metal seeming to tighten and lock up. That valve wasn't going anywhere, she thought, but the heat was redirected. At least no HYDRA agent would undo the repairs.

She turned around, smiling depsite the pain, satisfied that she'd been helpful. She held up her palms to show their red and puckered skin and dredged up a grin from somewhere, cracking a joke. "Hey, I've had worse." She'd had laughed, had a HYDRA soldier not cold-clocked her on the base of her skull with the butt of his rifle. She splayed forward, hitting the ground hard, but lay there for only a moment before being wrenched up again, in the rough grip of an agent. There were three in the room, and it sounded like at least five outside. Worse, they'd hit her rather than shoot her - so they weren't ordered to kill her.For a split-second she held the hope that such a merciful order had been applied to the general staff of the ship, but gunshots ruled that out. No, they were looking to capture specific targets - and she was one of them. She could field a guess why.

She looked at Ben, who was frozen in the moment. Hopefully he saw the plead for him to run brimming out of her eyes.

Dani had been in her personal cell, cross-legged on her bunk, with the dark text that had been the origin point of all her troubles when her earpiece crackled, and a tinny voice shouted about a HYDRA attack on the SHIELD Helicarrier. She'd panicked slightly before turning and craning her neck upwards to look through the porthole-style window she'd explicitly requested to be installed, and seeing - with a little more angling of her head - that the sun was still high in the sky. Somewhere inside her, near her lower left ribs it felt like, Zarathos chuckled, a bubbly, malicious forced laugh. It wasn't time. Not yet. She still had some hours before hiding became truly necessary. Though that fact didn't stop her from wrenching the book off her legs - something she'd done many times, though the tome never seemed the worse for wear - and nearly scrambling into the corner of her cell, assuming a different cross-legged stance with her hands frantically running through her sheared hair, calming herself and preparing to do her best to ignore the sounds of fighting that were soon to echo through the corridors of the Helicarrier, and hoping that the fields - both energy and magical - that secured her cell would hold the HYDRA soldiers out sufficiently. Eyes squeezed shut, she opened one to peek at the two buttons and a switch on the wall of her cell - how she opened the fields from the inside. Fury had insisted that simple heat-detection tech was enough to prevent her opening it as Ghost Rider, should she change inside her cell for whatever terrible reason, but Doctor Strange had simply said 'hmmm' and then placed protective wards over them as well, preventing the demonic energies of Zarathos to touch them. Dani relied on the latter rather than the former.

It didn't last long. The quiet. There was a moment of stillness as the entire staff paused to mentally prepare, and then they mobilized. A klaxon sounded somewhere and Dani winced at the sound and the associations it brought, and then the pounding of footsteps and shouts of orders came through, muffled behind layers of metal and machinery, indistinct yells failing to take form as words. An dull boom rocked the ship as, presumably, the HYDRA agents breached the Helicarrier, and Dani held her breath. Oh man, she did not want to be here. She jumped as her earpiece crackled again and she stood up quickly, smacking her knee on the corner of her bunk as she did so, and scrambled to pick it up and put it on as a voice came through issuing orders. Cap's voice - or at least the Cap of her team. Bucky.

"Hulkling, and Wiccan, help Maria on the deck. A clean sweep. Ben and Dani, handle the engines. If those fail, we all die."

No pressure then. Dani approached the field that replaced the fourth wall of her cell and angled herself to look down both ends of the corridor. Empty, and any sounds of stamping soldier boots were a fair way off. Safe, then. Ish. Not that it mattered so much for her survival - she found that even without Zarathos completely taking over, it still made sure she was plenty tough to kill - but surviving didn't matter if she was captured and held, she wouldn't be able to help the team. And she didn't want to think about what would happen if HYDRA held her after sundown. Best not to think about it. Instead, she stepped away from the field and toward the buttons, flipping the switch and waiting for a light above it to turn green before pressing and holding both down buttons. The light blinked for a few seconds, and then turned amber, necessitating another flip of the switch before it went red and the field came down. Runic marks that lined the frame of the field emitter glimmered for a split second before dulling again. The protective wards dissipated as well, and Dani took one cool breath and a body-wide shudder before stepping out and turning right toward the main access shafts of the ship. She reached the engine room before Ben did, and hoped HYDRA agents wouldn't do the same.

You have to PM your sheet. It's a neat sheet, but it won't be accepted if it's just posted to the OOC. Sheets posted so far are pre-accepted.
Roman Black; Double-Down; Echo

Double-Down; Echo

Male

20

  • Height: 5'10

  • Weight: 130lb

  • Build: Lanky

  • Hair Colour: Jet Black

  • Eye Colour: Blue-Gray

  • General Attire: Black or denim jeans, loose tops, trainers, baseball jackets or denim/sheepwool jackets.

Metahuman Abilities:
Self-Duplication - Roman has the ability to produce a clone of himself, identical in form, mentality, and skill to the original, who simply steps away from Roman's body. This clone - Roman2- can learn, act, think, and talk independently of Roman1, but can be reabsorbed at will, along with all the memories, experiences, and skills had and learnt by the clone. Roman has taken advantage of this ability to 'double-time' his learning to artificially boost his skills in several pointless talents and a few useful ones. The clone is a complete mirror image of Roman, from his hair parting to the designs on his clothing to even Roman's Situs Invertus. While it doesn't affect either in action, it can be used to tell them apart if you look close enough.

Reabsorbing a healthy clone also pushes the original body further toward it's natural form, healing injuries somewhat and pushing off illnesses a little faster. However, an injured Roman cannot release and immediately reabsorb his clone to heal himself, as the clone will share any injuries with the original Roman.

Roman can also clone any objects he's holding, said objects being held by Roman2 as he emerges, provided they aren't too large or too complicated. However, these objects fade and crumble out of existance if they leave the possession of Roman2, as they cannot be sustained outside of either of the Romans.

As a whole being, Roman also enjoys slightly enhanced strength and stamina, though not to a superhuman degree. He also has the presence of two minds, affording him a very strong sense of self, heavy amounts of mental willpower and fortitude, and sometimes an utter, undeniable confidence in his decisions.

Skills and Talents:
Using his 'double-time' learning, Roman has learnt considerable skill in the following: Card throwing; Billiards; Self-Defense; Parkour; Cooking.

Other:
"High Calibre Rifle Shots." Locke quoted, throwing a photo of bullet holes at Cassie from across the table. "Several dead." He continued, throwing down another photo, this time of the thug Cassie had shot through the neck. "Precision shots." He finalised with, throwing the rest of the photos along with the entire police report, shots of the criminal she'd hit through the temple spilling out, and one of the now hand-less man peeking out from the bottom of the file. "You imbecile. Through the temple? In the neck? Shooting a man's hand off? I sent you there to protect your sister, not write your goddamn name on the walls."

Cassie said nothing. Locke was angry, and he would ignore whatever justification she gave him. With Locke, you just took it, or he had you killed. Or if you were unlucky, both. "The men who attacked the school were Harbour Kings. The same Harbour Kings I am looking to do business with. It is not a guarded secret that I hire a sniper. How do you think the Kings will react to me now that my hitman has killed several of their men and shut down a venture attempt?" Cassie didn't answer. Locke didn't want her to. "Worse than that, your sister managed to reveal her nature to her date. It's unfortunate, but we can't have him spilling secrets and the riff-raff coming down on us to seize her." He paused, and let Cassie's eyes widen. She opened her mouth to protest, but he held up a single finger and silenced her, nearly smirking. "It's already done. Unfortunate car accident. For the safety of your sister, of course." He turned, walking toward the window.

"However, we are lucky in that your sister was not the only fool to show their hand that night." He looked out onto Kilbride. His own backyard. They were high up in a penthouse apartment renovated to be a personal office, all requested and paid for by Locke. It had the best view in the city, and that was probably why Locke wanted it. A high seat to lord over his domain from. "Several other students proved themselves to have natures like yours and your sisters. And as you very well know..." he turned, walking back toward the desk and leaning over it, holding himself up on his arm, fingers splayed on the desk, "I am very interested in people of your nature." He straightened up. "However, I don't imagine these ones to be as easily recruited as you. No easy...levers." He smiled, the corners of his mouth turning up in a sickly manner, and raised an eyebrow. He was baiting Cassie, but she refused to bite. She'd heard worse. "I have men looking into it, but I suspect they will prove unsuccessful. This is where you will step in. To make up for your...transgression, I want you to eliminate those who revealed themselves at the shooting." He gestured vaguely, and the guards - little more than gorillas in tight-fitting suits - moved around the desk and motioned for Cassie to stand up, pulling her chair out as she did so, and began to escort her out. "Who they are and how you do so is your business. Do not fail me again." Locke said as she left, and then she was out the door, and it clicked locked behind her.
Cassie turned her hands over and under themselves as she walked back to her apartment. Immediately after the shooting she'd ran home and discarded her disguise and stowed her rifle, changing into regular clothes again and heading over to Jo's apartment. She'd comforted at best she could, or tried to, and then left Jo alone with the boy she'd taken to the dance, at Jo's surreptitious urging. Cassie smiled slightly and hugged her sister tightly, feeling uneasy in a matronly manner but supressing the urge to forbif this-and-that. It'd only make this-and-that more likely. Jo was strong, and smart, and Cassie trusted her. She went home, and tried to sleep. It didn't last long, and she'd spent the rest of that night in disguise again but without her rifle, just wandering buildings and rooftops and trying to practise her powers. She felt fuzzy at times of trying but couldn't bring on the clarity of her true Focus. Her mind was too frazzled and her emotions too frayed, still raw from the threat Jo had faced. She sat on the edge of a building that stood across from one of Locke's casinos, dangling her feet over the edge, and stayed this until sunrise, the light cresting over the horizon.

Cassie had made a note to keep her eyes open and her ears close to the ground during the week the school was shut, but had seen little so far. It was only Tuesday, but there was no peep from the weekend, and she suspected that any metas who had flexed their n'th muscles at the shooting would probably avoid flaunting their natures again, at least for the time being. Her only real lead was the boy who'd tipped his cap to her, but he was masked, and the same shape and height as nearly every other boy at the school. She'd considered breaking in while it was shut and stealing some records, but she'd have no idea which ones were the ones she needed. It would be a pointless act, and bring attention where it wasn't wanted. And frankly, she didn't feel like forcing the school through any other suspicious incidents after Friday night.
That said, it was the metas at the school that ultimately stopped the shooters in the first place, with a bit of help here and there from Cassie and her rifle. Maybe they'd gotten a taste for it. Maybe they'd be wandering rooftops like her.

Didn't hurt to wait and see.
