Current I'm a pretty good writer and former site staff; I still deal with imposter syndrome every time I log on. You're definitely not alone. And t's worth trying anyway.

I just finished The Secret History, a very Gen X book. Never Let Me Go before that, which I'd recommend to any writer outside the MFA atmosphere who wants to know emotonal restraint.

Applications may take a few days before a decision can be made. Generally issues will be resolved over pm.

Don't have a PM and haven't seen anything about your status in the OOC? Keep waiting. ^_^

Name: Laura Kinney, called 'X-23' or 'X' mostly.
Callsign: X-23
Age: Early 30's. Appears early 20's.
Mutation:

Healing Factor - X-23 is a mutant who possesses the ability to regenerate damaged or destroyed areas of her cellular structure at a rate far greater than that of an ordinary human. The speed at which this healing factor works varies in direct proportion with the severity of the damage X-23 suffers. It is this healing factor that allowed her to sustain her entire skeletal structure being artificially bonded to the nearly indestructible metal Adamantium.

Animalism - X-23's senses of sight, smell, and hearing are all superhumanly acute. In addition to this, her mutation also consists of animal-like adaptations of her body, including pronounced, and sharp fang-like canines and four sets of two retractable claws housed within each forearm and each foot.

Personality:

Laura is tough. She had to be to survive all she's been throw. Beneath the appearance of the young-late teen girl, is a woman who has undergone some of the worst tortures imaginable, killed more than the most experienced of mobsters and suffered through more loss than nearly anyone alive. Originally emotionally stunted from the events of her life, she has since developed into a caring, if harsh woman. This is not to say she does not understand the trials and tribulations of others, she simply does not suffer melodrama and is always there to provide a little perspective.

She is hard on the students, never sugar coating the situation and confronting those who don't show the potential she believes they have.

History:

X-23 was born out of the failure of the Weapon-X project. A new secret program, lead by Zander Rice and Martin Stutter, attempted to recreate the project, in part to kill Wolverine, as well as fill the role the feral mutant had been designed for. They could not find any viable candidates to accept the genetic material salvaged from the previous project and so brought genetic expert Sarah Kinney to the project to assist them. Eventually Kinney proposed the idea that a female clone of wolverine could be 'grown' from the salvaged X-gene. Both project leaders refused, on account of suspecting a female host would either change or weaken the end result. Despite orders not to, Kinney carried out her plan, successfully creating a host. Stutter accepted the creation as a success, although as punishment, Rice forced Kinney to carry the child herself as surrogate.

As a child, X-23 was raised to kill and little more. She was taught rudimentary knowledge of several languages, with a slight focus on English, simply to function, while the majority of her time was spent being developed to kill. She was exposed to radiation to hasten the development of her mutations and her claws were forceably extracted before being coated with adamantium, all off anaesthetic and both nearly killing her. Her only respite was secret meetings with Sarah Kinney, who would read childrens' stories to her, despite never revealing herself as her surrogate mother. By 11, X-23 was the most sought after assassin in the world, her owners earning potentially millions of dollars for each of her contracts. Eventually Stutter, feeling his days as head of the project were over, granted primary control to Rice. The power hungry son of the original leader of Project X then used X-23 to murder Stutter and his family, besides his young son, out of a random burst of compassion from X-23. Rice then went about replacing the staff of the project, including Sarah who he held particular contempt for. Before she left, Rice revealed a lab containing another 20 growing female foetus, the expansion of the project. Using command overrides she had created, Sarah ordered X-23 to kill Rice. Once Rice was killed however, Sarah realised he had previously exposed her to the trigger scent, a chemical causing X-23 to go into a murderous rage. Hence, daughter killed mother, but on her deathbed, Sarah gave X-23 her name, Laura Kinney.

Following these events, Laura wandered. Her life improved little, in an emotionally underdeveloped state she was used as both a prostitute and an enforcer by different criminals. She eventually encountered her mother's family, although only her aunts survived the few months of their reunion. The new leaders of Project-X using the trigger scent to turn her on a number of her family, before themselves attacking. Managing to get her aunts to safety, she then disappeared, now with the intent of tracking down, and killing, the man who had been the cause of the new Project. Wolverine.

Their first meeting was suitably violent. A grim fight between two individuals able to heal any wounds. With the element of surprise and a lack of moral implications on her side, Laura eventually bested her biological father, although he was able to convince her not to kill him, to instead move on from the trauma inflicted upon her by others. While she would flee the scene, she would eventually be reunited with Wolverine after she and Spider-man rescued a young mutant. She was inducted into Xavier's School, mostly as a precaution and to teach her how to exist within society. Following their defeat, she swore to carry on a mission she had yet to really understand.

As the co-leader of one of the many cells still working to building to some mysterious end, Laura has been contacted once again to raise this new team of youngsters, to prepare them to one day bear the title of X-men, if they can survive.
Alex's added to the Roster.
Noel Shaw's approved and added to the roster. Congrats!
Everyone posts their Character Sheet in the CS thread; if it's WIP make sure it says WIP, if it's finished make sure I know it's finished so I can review it.

That's it, that's all. Totally simple, see? ^_^

Already added to the roster. <3

Name: 'Rob'
Age: Late 30s
Mutation:

While 'Rob' has told rivaling stories concerning just what he's capable of, he has been witnessed performing the following feats; superhuman strength, speed, stamina, agility, reflexes, and durability.

Helena claims she once saw him fly...when they were both so drunk they were bordering on alcohol poisoning. Given the timing, few take the claim seriously.

Personality:

Quickly nicknamed 'The Dude' given his propensity to appear a beach bum stuck in the New Mexico wilderness, it's fair to call 'Rob' the most mysterious figure in the entire group. Easy to smile, easy to laugh, possessing of a disarming and eternally laid back charm, he is easily the hugger between the two Leads. Where X will push and confront the underperforming, 'Rob' is always around to listen to your troubles and leave you feeling better than you did before. Despite all of that, one of the most common games on the Last Five Acres is guessing what and who 'Rob' was before he came to be their Co-Lead. No matter how many guesses or close those guesses may come, the Co-Lead responds the same way every time: a blush and a chuckle, and silence.

But, surprisingly, 'Rob' never seems to mind the guessing. If anything he's glad the group has made a game of it.

History:

Though he introduces himself as Rob, he does so with a wink; and tongue firmly pressed into his cheek. Clearly a false name for a man clearly living a new life far from his old existance. Rob came to the X-23 Cell in the rarest of ways; he came from another Cell in the shadow mutant organization. Thus far, this is the only time X-23 has heard of anything or anyone has passed from one cell to another. When asked by X-23 what the other Cell was like, Rob shrugs and explains, "It's a lot like this one. Just in another place, facing most the same problems. Just further behind in the timeline."

While the Cell structure and secrecy of the shadow organization remains an unknown to all students but the only telepath in the camp, and that student sworn to secrecy herself, only Rob seems to know anything that comes close to resembling an understanding about the motives of those pulling puppet strings from the dark. And it's a safe bet he isn't about to go telling anyone soon. What is clear is that Rob came to the Cell because it was closer to 'launch' than any other, though just how far ahead it is than the others isn't known. It's not even known just how many Cells exist.

Not exactly a sterling role model, Rob is known to drink beer and smoke pot with students in the solitary sanctuary of the mountain valley that makes up the Last Five. He is a student's best guide to the bars and honky tonks and strip clubs of Bakersfield, and freely gives out advice when asked--be it on the best place in town to use a fake ID to buy beer or on the ups and downs of life as a whole. While more a big brother often times than a true Co-Lead, teased for being a long haired beef cake, everyone is glad to have the mysterious Rob as the group's very own strong man guardian.
