After everyone had left, Parum just sorta wandered her own way. She needed time to think about what exactly she was getting herself into. At first, she only joined the caravan for mutual protection. But who would to think that instead of being attacked by bandits or wild animals, she would arrive to a besieged fortress, lead by a dragon! After getting over her initial fear, she had to admit she was very excited. She never thought she'd even see a dragon in the sky, yet there was one today. If they weren't trying to kill them, she would have so many questions for them. Where did it come from, what did it eat, how does it think about this culot that formed around it, and so much more.

But alas, Parum knew that this dragon likely wouldn't want to speak to her and would rather eat her. Her and everyone here in fact. Though it did make Parum wonder why it was attacking here. Well, aside from obvious reasons, like loot and plunder. But surely the dragon has seen Greenest's keep and would have known that it's people would retreat there. Why not attack caravans on the road like the one Parum traveled, or perhaps a village without a fortress nearby? So many questions yet no answers. And before Parum could really suss out why the castellan, a redhaired dwarf, arrived with urgent news: They were under attack!

The attack was at the sally port, which Parum knew was a sort of secure entry way meant for the fortress's defenders to have a reliable way out, without giving the enemy a way in. Of course the enemy would have had plenty of time to find the sally port and wait for their chance to charge, and that moment was now. If they've already gotten through the sally port then more may follow. Taking out her viol Parum steeled her resolve. "Then we have no time to lose. Let's go!" Having explored the fortress a short while before, Parum knew where the sally port was and went over there herself.
Hibiki Toho

Today was a very important day. First, it was Hibiki's first time doing a job for the Newspaper club. She was very nervous; while Thomas did say they could enjoy themselves, she still very jittery. She had everything she felt a good newspaper person needed: a notebook for notes, a pen for writing notes, a voice recorder to record statements, and a camera to immortalize it all in picture. She even got a new outfit to dress the part. But more important then any of that, Hibiki needed to find Itusko. She had promised her that they would spend some time at the festival together. Hibiki wanted to try all the things, especially the cultural stuff since that was what Thomas said she was suppose to review.

Hibiki had everything planned out. First, they would try the non-japanese cultural things. She knew there was one booth that was doing something German, and another was pretty American. There were a lot of Chinese places too, as well as Korean. However what Hibiki was most interested in was a few Arabic stands that she was almost certain no one would really be going too. No one ever seemed to pay them much mind, which seemed odd to Hibiki because they seemed the most interesting. And of course, once she visits all those places, she'll have to find Thomas to investigate the Black vs White cultural war. The White Guild were coming strong with their traditional Maid Cafe, something everyone looks forward to every year. But the Black Guild would be using the festival to as their debut, and there was no telling what they were up too.

Hibiki did a bit of digging around about the both of them as well. Namely, some key players in both guilds. While obviously there were Chiyo Kuroke and Yoshino Tsugumi, the leader of the Ivory Masks and the spokesperson of the Ebony Strykers respectively, Hibiki had noticed a few other big names show up. One was Eris Reinhardt, a very controversial figure in both Deep Ground and the real world. It first started when Hibiki found some gossip where she had declared war against the Sweepers after they wrote the name "Cassandra" out of dead players bodies, where she threaten to use her connections to a mercenary company to take out anyone who would harm Cassandra. More importantly, she also revealed herself as Eclipse princess, a rather powerful player who had initially joined the Ebony Strykers, only to start killing them after Corpse Collector was defeated due to the Sweepers in the Strykers. Now she's part of the Ivory Masks, and some say it was a ploy by the Ivory Masks to weaken and destabilize the Ebony Strykers since soon after she had stopped her killings, the Ebony Strykers went through their civil war. And even though her activities have been fairly quiet since she had left, it was also known that she had a hand in helping and improving the Ivory Masks maid cafe, which itself was already well above what most other festival stalls could fund.

Following up on Eris, Hibiki also tried to look into this Cassandra person. Oddly enough, despite being a target by the Sweepers and apparently someone Eris regards very closely, Hibiki wasn't able to find out much about her. Cassandra O'Shera was a child of a very large family, and has recently been seen in Eris's company, and by proxy the Ivory Masks. Of what few rumors Hibiki could find, people say that Cassandra is a strong-willed person and could be quite forceful, though seeing the girl herself Hibiki wonders if there's more to it then that. Of course Hibiki wasn't just investigating the Ivory Masks and she had some information about the Ebony Strykers as well. Namely, around the same time the Ebony Strykers opened it's doors, a girl named Retsu was seen around Yoshino. Like Cassandra, there was very little information that Hibiki found about her, aside that she has a brother named Asahi. However something about Retsu didn't sit right with Hibiki. Like Retsu was hiding something. Just seeing her made Hibiki feel like she's in danger, and she suspects that Retsu may be connected to the Sweepers and serves as the contact between them and the Ebony Strykers, collaborating with Yoshino.

In addition to Retsu, there was also Asahi, who recently gained some fame for getting shot. The biggest rumor going on around that was Asahi being a target for a botched assassination from the Sweepers, brought about from his involvement in the civil war in the Ebony Strykers. He also has a reputation for getting into fights with other trouble makers in the city and that he was a leader of his own gang, which sounds a lot like something a Sweeper would do. Of course it only made more questions why the Sweepers would be after him if he is a Sweeper, though perhaps the civil war between the Ebony Strykers were more then just a battle between the Stykers and the Sweepers, but the Sweepers amongst themselves. Aside from that, he was apparently leading the Ebony Stryker's performance. Instead of a stall or booth like other clubs or guilds, they would be hosting a show soon.

In all honesty, Hibiki didn't want to go to either guilds. The Ivory Masks felt too distant and haughty, that despite being a maid cafe it was made for a higher clientele then most of the students who go to Purple Crown. At best, it makes people feel rich. The Ebony Strykers were a wild card, and aside from her personal reasons for not wanting to go to the Ebony Stryker's show, she doubts they could really do anything considering how disorganized and underfunded they were. Unlike Eris or Chiyo, who Hibiki learned were actually very wealthy, no one from Ebony Strykers seemed particularly rich. And Hibiki wasn't so naive to believe that they could produce anything without sufficient funding. The Ivory Mask's maid cafe has always been a big attraction because a lot of money has gone into making it far better then what any normal highschooler could do with a limited budget. Even the other guilds had comparatively paltry attractions compared to the Ivory Masks, and Hibiki doubts newcomers like the Ebony Strykers would do any better.

All in all, Hibiki wished that she could just use this time to have fun with Itsuko and maybe make some more new friends. Not that she was getting bored with Itsuko, but after spending some nights playing DGO with her, Hibiki realized that she doesn't have a lot of friends to play with. By the time she came to Purple Crown even the new students already had their cliques or were part of a guild. Hibiki knew in some ways it was her own fault too, since she could easily have more friends if she just joined a guild. But her own vendetta against the Ebony Strykers made her into something like a brooding anti-hero who can't accept friends at the risk of endangering them. And that was really boring.

Sighing, Hibiki tried not to look too depressed as she waited for Itsuko. Just like she told her yesterday, Hibiki would be waiting near entrance after the ticket counter. She showed Itsuko the outfit she was going to wear, so she should be able to recognize Hibiki when she shows up. Hibiki also wondered if Huntress would be here today. She seemed like a mysterious, but good person. Huntress would be the type of character who looks and acts cool, but probably plays with dolls or still sleeps with her baby blanket. Not that Hibiki could talk, since she does that too.

@KoL
@The 42nd Gecko From my understanding the treasure is "everything from Ruthria", which is why Hibiki and Shizuka didn't just grab it and go themselves when they found it. They have to find a way to get it out of there first, and it's probably going to take more then one giant robot to get some of it.
<Snipped quote by Ryonara>

Like Lone said, they can go either way, but alternative routes are likely to put the two of them on Torag, Miyu's or both of them paths.

Also, take note of the fact that Eos said that the temperature is raising inside the core room, Hibiki might have problems with being roasted alive, but I believe Shizuka can tank or without much trouble, can't say if her armor will hold out or not though. In the best worst case scenario, Shizuka will have to do it Beowulf style. Not that implying anything lewd here, of course. >.>

The issue is knowing how much the bombs will handle before exploding prematurely. But I'll leave that to you.

The bombs are more likely to get destroyed then blow up prematurely, though Hibiki has a plan for that. As for the extreme heat... Yeah that's going to be kinda a tough one. Anyways I think I'll try to have Hibiki avoid Diana and the others, but the rest they could try to intercept her.

So there's my post. I get the feeling we're getting close to the end of this battle, or at least I'm hoping to finish this quickly to avoid this ever growing chaos. I'm kinda scared.
Hibiki & Shizuka

Hibiki sneaked up on one of the angels on patrols, deftly grabbing him by his helmet and snapping his neck. She laid him down gently so he didn’t make a noise before turning around the corner just as Tatiana attacked, shooting down one of the angels with her new biotic rifle. When her bullet hit her target, the nanomachines inside reacted to the angel’s body and began to break it down, first numbing his body before corroding his flesh and armor like acid. Fortunately it was a quick, painless death, and he died by the time he landed. The last target was taken out with a shot from Shizuka’s rifle, gun down at the same time as the other two girls. With the angels dealt with they moved in.

Hibiki immediately started to set up the area as a defensible position. She had her drones set up fortifications and reinforcing the walls, to prevent any unexpected entrances via explosions or particularly sharp swords. She also set up her Bastion turrets towards the entrance to turn that into a kill zone, as well as putting them in a defensible location to handle counter fire. Lastly she laid a few explosives around, making sure to inform the others of their location so they could avoid them or use them.

But as Hibiki was doing that, Shizuka realized something was wrong. ”Hibiki, the teleporter isn’t working!” Hibiki turned to her sister just as she received some messages from Queen Eos. This mission just got a lot more complicated. Hibiki forwarded the message to the others and explained the situation to her sister and Titiana. ”Not good. Looks like someone went ahead to shut off that power source from before. A volcanic eruption will make air extraction harder for us, and without any power in this place we’ll have to force or find our way around obstructions.” If this place was anything like the Elicitor, direct pathways to critical areas were likely blocked off, and with the power core down they wouldn’t be opening any time soon.

Shizuka only had more bad news to add. ”And… I can’t get the teleporter to work. This circle must have been connected to that power source, and if it’s off I… Well…” Looking at her sister Hibiki was wondering what Shizuka was hesitating about. She walked over to her sister, her voice filled with both concern and authority. ”Shizuka…” Shizuka looked at Hibiki and continued as she examined the runes on the teleporter panel. ”I could… Use all my strength to power the teleporter. Over charge it and teleport everything in this room back to mother base. I’ll still take over the teleporter and prevent the angels from using it, but I can only do it once. And once I do it, the teleporter won’t work again.”

This meant that they wouldn’t be able to take back all the supplies here at the base. While they could take everything in this room, which was quite a lot, the angels could still make use of what supplies they had in other parts of the facility. But not if this place was Destoryed. So hibiki had to change her plans.

”How long will it take you to do this?”

”Ten minutes.”

”Then we have ten minutes to finish our mission. Tatiana, you and I will head to the core that Dawnbreaker had told me and see if we can destroy this place through it. Our plan to take over the teleporter and steal all the supplies won’t be possible, but we’ll take what we can and burn the rest.”

As Shizuka began the ritual to take over the teleporter, Hibiki handed out some barrier bombs. They weren't as good as actual combat armor, certainly not like the armor the maids usually wear to battle, but it was better than nothing. It would provide some kinetic protection as well as immunity to extreme temperatures and suffocation. However all these things could be overpowered with sufficient strength or if the barrier device is destroyed, not to mention that this bomb only works for five minutes. Hibiki was about to leave when she stopped with Titiania. ”I'm going to go on ahead stealth. I'll send you a constant feed of my location so you can keep up. I'll warn you ahead of time if I find any danger so we can move around them.” Giving Titiana her signature maid smile, Hibiki activated her Stealth field and vanished.

As she was leaving the teleporter room Hibiki tried to contact Eos again. Hibiki was certain that she could try and plant her demolition charges in the lava core and cause it to go critical, though she had to be careful not to destroy herself in the process. Granted, destroying the entire fortress also completed their objective but she wanted to get something out of it. ”Dawnbreaker, this is Commander Hibiki. Due to unforeseen circumstances there has been a slight change in plans. Commander Shizuka will only be able to activate the teleporter once, where we will try to bring back as many supplies as we can. I am en route to the power source you spoke of and intend to utilize it for the destruction of Alt Signia. Do you have any intel that would assist me?”

While the others left Shizuka was in the middle of her ritual, entering a trance to take over the teleporter. She wouldn’t need to be actively trancing for the entire ten minutes, but she would need to stay nearby, at least within the room. While at the same time she activated a few of her other rituals as well, namely her Wings. Both these things wouldn’t occur immediately, but she could trance for all three rituals at once. Closing her eyes and kneeling in prayer, Shizuka began chanting.

"Agnus Dei, qui tollis peccata mundi..."

@Flamelord@KoL
@KoL would Hibiki come across The three way with Diana, Bastion, and Suparna, or could she find another way around them to the lava room?
Ara ara, so much stuff going on. My next post might be a bit loaded with actions so please tell me if I've done too much.

@KoL would Hibiki and Tatiana stumble across the battle between Diana, Bastion, and Suparna if they head towards the lava core power room? Also would Hibiki be able to accelerate the time of the bases destruction if Hibiki plants her bombs in the right places? She'll ask Eos for advice of course, but I'd like to know if I'm on the right path.

And as I promised, I would try to have Hibiki help Bastion during this fight somehow, either taking a shot or dealing with Suparna. I imagine fire might be effective. She can't stay to fight of course and she'd want Bastion to escape with them, but she'll do as Bastion said and try to stay out of her way with the direct fighting.
@Lucius Cypher Cool.

Anyone else notice that the only battle that matters at the moment is Suprana vs Diana vs Bastion And the Pussycats... Which is actually just the GM's?

I suppose Torag and Miyu are going to help, but Bastion is apparently threatening to insta-pown Torag, and Miyu is pretty much incapacitated. Ryonara's siblings are still stuck on the Hapless Angelic Guards, last I checked.

Sorry for the wait, things are kinda busy on my end. I'll try to put up a post as soon as I can. And I actually plan to have Hibiki take some potshots at Diana in my next post, after leaving Shizuka behind to take care of things. Kinda don't really know what else they could do but take everything and go. Seems like we don't need to try too hard to destroy the base.
I'd like to think that her teacher knows that, and has done similar things to his other students as well. It was just easier for him to arrange Kaliyah's death since she had a few enemies. For the ones who died then he writes them off as failures, since they would lack the immortality of the Dark Sign to make best use of his knowledge. Everyone else he had killed who turned into an undead he would have trained, inadvertently or otherwise, so that their skills won't be lost just because they died.
