@Ammokkx while I'm not sure how that works rp-wise, I suppose it's fair. Guess I'll edit.
EDIT: wait, considering this is still a Duel, how about just 15 points whether or not the placement duel was won or lost? If nothing was gained from it, it doesn't really make much sense in the story. At least with 15 points there's some compensation for it.
DOUBLE EDIT: 15 points is serious biz. >:( Seriously, though, it is.
Michelle didn't get much sleep last night. She had been too excited to sleep, and now she was paying for it, especially in the current heat. Fortunately for her, it seemed like she wasn't the only one suffering, so she took some comfort in that. Michelle wondered what the academy life would be like; she had never done anything like it before. Eventually, the bus arrived at the academy, and Michelle took her luggage and went inside like everyone else. Being so excited, she hurried ahead and managed to be one of the first several inside. It was much cooler than outside, which she was grateful for.
She boarded the elevator and made the ascent, then made her way to the location where a bored-looking person was handing out structure decks. Michelle scanned the titles to see which deck she would like, then her gaze fell upon one: Realm of Light. She remembered that deck; it was the same one that the shop manager from the very first time she started playing Duel Monsters offered to her. With no hesitation, Michelle said, "Realm of Light, please." She was handed the deck, and Michelle walked away, satisfied with her choice.
Michelle made her way over to another place where she had to fill out some forms. Michelle was a bit slow filling them out; she didn't know at first which choices she should make. Eventually, though, she managed to complete them, then she made her way to the stands, where other people were watching the placement duels. Michelle watched all of them with keen interest, and some also managed to surprise her, like the one that ended with a 6600 Life Point difference.
Eventually, it was her turn to take her placement duel. She made her way to the arena, then began the Duel with the other first-year. The two fought hard and valiantly, but ultimately Michelle won, 1850 Life Points remaining and 3 monsters on her field. The rest of the day passed uneventfully, with Michelle being placed in the Wind dorm.
Michelle watched the Action Duels keenly. The first one was disappointingly short, but Michelle noted how Leander made his plays. Attacking before summoning Ancient Sacred Wyvern was a good move, since using Seven Tools to stop Bottomless would've meant the Wyvern losing too much ATK to battle, and Trust Guardian's effect to prevent Wyvern's destruction by battle was also good. Unfortunately, a surge of Chaos monsters quickly overwhelmed Leander and got past his defenses before he could set new ones. Looking over the other spectators, it seemed like no one else noticed it, or at least didn't seem to care for it.
The second Action Duel was of more considerable interest. It was rather one-sided in the beginning, but Megan made a reversal by finally summoning monsters, which Camryn was too slow to recover from. All in all, a nice Duel. The day seemed to be over for now, and Michelle wondered what she would do now. She then decided to make her way to the card shop. As nice as her deck was, it was for the best that she make some improvements; one could only go so far using a standard structure deck. Entering the shop, Michelle browsed the collections of card packs, looking for ones related to her deck. Unfortunately, it seemed like not many were really focused on Lightsworns. There were a few packs, though, so she did take 2 packs of Light of Destruction. She could only hope that she got the cards she wanted from them now.
Distracted from her card packs, Michelle didn't notice Vincent in front of her until she bumped into his back, causing her to drop her Light of Destruction packs. "Sorry," Michelle said as she bent over to pick them back up.
Woo 2nd cs incoming! I spent, at least, 2 hours 5 minutes on this!
Name: Michelle Kine
Age: 16
Gender: Female
Personality: Michelle can seem a bit cold to other people. She often wears an expressionless face, and speaks in an emotionless to cold tone, if at all. Truthfully, she is just bad at expressing her emotions. She also tends to have a lot on her mind, which often makes it harder for her to express herself, and she is a bit shy. All of that adds up to what she is now. However, Michelle is a complete Duel Monsters enthusiast. She remembers the names and main cards of every successful Duelist to have shown up in the world, and possesses a decent bit of skill at the game herself.
History: For as long as Michelle could remember, she had always been a recluse. She made very few friends, sometimes none at all, and she rarely spoke with anyone. Instead, she poured her efforts into schoolwork and studies, and spent the majority of her time in libraries. She liked the peace and quiet. Her grades, of course, were exemplary. She didn't need anything else. Why would she, when she had everything she needed?
Even so, she felt unhappy. She believed she had everything she needed, but not necessarily everything she wanted. She felt like there was a void in her, something that was missing, but she didn't know what. As time passed, the feeling only grew, until even her regular locations didn't give her comfort anymore. Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. She decided to go outside and see what it was she was missing. She began walking around her town for a while, taking in the sights for once. Eventually, she came upon a Duel Monsters card shop. Curious, she went inside, seeing people with smiles on their faces, playing the card game known as Duel Monsters. The shop manager offered her a card pack to borrow for the time being, noticing she was new and all, which Michelle soon took an interest in.
Time passed, and Michelle became a regular at the shop. She was never the best Duelist, but she was... having fun. It was a feeling she hadn't experienced before, and finally felt the void in her disappear. She also began looking up various cards, as well as various Duelists. Duel Monster events, merchandise, etc, she was in love with the game. However, what really caught her interests was the Duel Academies. Schools dedicated to Duel Monsters, or at least teaching it. She did her research on the subject, wondering if it was alright for her to go to one. She liked Duel Monsters, but she also had to consider her studies. She asked her parents on the matter, and they encouraged her to follow her interests. Convinced that it was right choice, Michelle chose to apply for a Duel Academy after all.
