Altered TundraAnd, sorry for the double post guys but here is the Leon. It's rough and not very good but I'm trying to gather some inspiration.
The Leon. A vicious race of man-eating, blood drinking, savage near-humans who were found in the large, desert planes of Snaakirfä in the North, barbarians who prey on caravans and lonely travellers. Their origins lay there, a mutated, intelligent species supposedly created to be clones of the great adventurer Gurthal the Lion. Previously, the Leon were a race of semi-intelligent mammals but were infused by the barbarian Sand People of Snaakirfä and then made the Leon we know today. They set up tribes all over the desert planes, slaughtering and eating anyone in their path. It was like a large horde of bastard creatures, indulging in carnal desires, eliminating entire swathes of people.
Riding their mutated, stronger, pus-filled camels to battle, they used their crude spears and swords to destroy anything in their path. Their desire for blood was insatiable for once they got a lick of it's sweet nectar, there was no turning back. You would turn into a berserker-like rage and all they thought of was "Rape, maim, kill, burn." As word of a horde of beasts terrorising the North with an appearance that was similar to the great Gurthal, the glorious adventurer was absolutely furious. They were destroying his image, a swarm of mutants ravaging lands, raping women and children, feasting on rotting corpses and they were all similar looking to him. Gathering his army, he gave an order to them. "Destroy them all."
And so they did. In a gruelling four-year manhunt, battle after battle fought between civilised men and barabaric tribal people, it soon grew to a stalemate. The army was strong, led by intelligent commanders, made up of veterans and magic-users. The Leon were too numerous, using their fear-factor to scare off entire armies, the stories of them feasting on dead soldiers turned morale into an all time low. They were evenly matched. Until Gurthel himself graced the battlefields with his might. Seeing that the war was going to take far longer than he expected, he and his First Battalion of Elites took on the Leon. The war was over in two whole weeks. This war was called the "Great Crusade" and filed into the great annals of history.
The Great Leon were no more. The strong, hard-boned, bloodthirsty, savage race was extinct. That was years ago. There were rumours of some tribes being alive but none of them were noteworthy enough for another crusade. In the Celestial Empire, the Leon were too far away to be recognised as a threat and was mostly unheard of.
