Hunter kept the flask in his hand as the conversation between him and the girl continued. She mentioned about how apple juice tasting better in the small flask. "I definitely agree there. Plus with everything going on it's better then other things I could put in it." He chuckled a bit at the thought of his situation. Here he was, trying to be sober and not drop kick people, and here she was. She seemed... done was the best word that came to Hunter's mind. Hunter couldn't break from her eyes though, they were so deep with emotion, deep with a story dying to be told. She was definitely cute, she seemed just as out of it as Hunter did though. Seems that is the way of cruise ships today.
“So, what are you doing out here?” Asked the girl. "I am out here trying to quit drinking, well remembering why I started to drink. It's a complex situation." She then asked if he was partied out as well. "Na, I was never partied in. Relating to the quitting drinking, I've never been to a party sober until now. And it's harder then I thought. I mean first I am dealing with my ex being on the same cruise, then I am dealing with the fact that going on this trip drained away what little bit of savings I had." He laughed a bit. "To make things even better I am trying to enjoy this well not only dealing with my ex, but my friends are off somewhere doing who knows what?!" He stopped and thought about it. "Or who." He took another sip of the apple juice hoping it would calm him down. With every sip he was hoping it would be like hard cider, so far all he got was bargain brand juice. They were quite for a moment. Then she broke the silence.
“Oh, I'm Clover, by the way.” She asked with her hand reaching out for a handshake. Hunter was about to shake back but she seemed to regret holding her hand out the way she did. She looked stressed, like she had been planning ways to do this before. Hunter couldn't blame her, he use to do the same thing before talking to Delilah well they were dating. Another thing that got his attention was how familiar she looked. He knew he had heard the name before but... where? He swore in his head for his memory failing on him. She also looked familiar too.
But Hunter soon looses this train of thought as Clover slowly and calmly intertwines her pinkie with his own finger. Shit, shit, shit, what do I do now? hunter was screaming in his head. He sucked with girls! And guys! And dogs! But that's an unrelated story.
“What’s your name?” Asked clover. This, this was something Hunter could do well sober and not acting scared as hell. "Um, many people at school call me Monroe, but my friends call me Hunter." Alright, act cool, don't panic, stop sweating. Stop sweating! Hunter screamed in his head. "You just as alone on this cruise? Seems a lot of people are off doing their own thing out here?"
