Sorry for the delay on my end, had some sudden health stuff to deal with. If a post isn't up in a few, it'll be up by morning.
Everyone is fine thankfully. I can't make a post today but I'll try to have one tomorrow.
Sorry for the scare.
@Estylwen Probably the wrong situation on mind (I'm Kurdish, not Palestinian), but I appreciate it nonetheless.

@Nanaya Thank you. It'll probably be fine. I'm hoping it's fine. Shit like this just kinda happens and sometimes it's fine and sometimes it's not and there's not much you can do about it.
Hey heads up, if I get bad news tomorrow y'all might have to skip me Again. A city I've got a sizeable amount of family in has been bombed and I can't call my family on account of it is 2 AM there right now, so I need to check in for tomorrow. It wasn't huge casualty wise afaik but I know someone who lost everyone but the baby boy in one family so I'm on edge.

Sorry for being middle eastern on main but I figured in the worst case scenario better to warn now rather than after I'm done mourning.
@ERode @Nanaya

It was perverse, almost, she decided. Her surroundings, so deeply familiar on a visual level, somewhere that felt like home. And yet, something so...devoid. It was equal parts captivating and uncanny. The shock of actually getting had almost made Hildegunde lose grasp of her Personal Barrier. Davil served a chilling example as to what would've become of her if she actually had. The ghost of pressure she feels is almost ominous.

Her eyes flitted from classmate to classmate. Most reacted predictably. Two stood out to her.

There was Otis, who seemed less concerned and more in marvel of his surroundings. A very obvious twinkling in his eyes. Thoughts flowing, gears turning. Some sort of application her own simple mind could not grasp. She decides, silently, that she will prod him about it later, perhaps out of class.

Then, there was Chloe. Huh. Miss Prune does have a heart. She wonders now, quietly, if she had judged the girl too quickly. If she had made undue grief for everyone by not simply sucking it up and rooming with her. Too late for that now, however. The duel wasn't going to be called off regardless.

She allowed a group to gather around the fallen student with no resistance or urge to join the pile. The crowd might very well be overwhelming. Besides, there was little she could do, after all. She was a hunter by nature, not a healer. While she could certainly attempt at healing, it seemed others were more suited towards it. When it came to the injured and the suffering, the Hunter has a different approach.

"I could also just put him out of his misery." Was it a joke? It sounds like it should be a joke, but Hildegunde's got such a deadpan way of delivering it that it might very well be serious. Her eyes flick to Alto.

"Although, really, it feels like an oversight, to put something as important as healing on us students."
@Nanaya Gimme a few to catch up. Thank you all for being so patient by the way.

EDIT: Done. Perhaps the first moment of quietly unhinged words from Hilde.
Apologies, I've got a snowstorm warning for the next two days. Internet (and electricity) has been very wonky. If I get something up before Nanaya, yippee! If I don't, add Hildegunde to the number of people who didn't take Otis's offer, and who is less than amused with current developments.

Sorry everything ever has been happening this month and a half.

Alto didn't quite answer her question, but his later speech more or less reassured her. Nothing too serious. Meaning there'd probably be consequences for taking advantage to someone being, as he put it, a vulnerable meatsack.

With that, she relaxes ever so slightly, focusing her attention on Ciara. Her lips tug slightly at the statement. What was that supposed to mean? More similar than they let on? Moreover, the idea that she will break the barrier sparks the slightest bit of indignation in her. That childish need to be better. To outperform. To shine. She'll break the barrier now, will she? Let's see about that!

It immediately comes with a wave of guilt. She buries it all quickly, giving another curt nod. About to engage, when Otis speaks. Then Rio - she frowns a bit when he's smacked - then Ciara.

Distinct. A funny way of putting it. Nothing in her teachings were truly distinct. There were different entities, yes. Hunter and hunted. Shelter and inhabitant. But they were all ultimately part of a larger system, just as her tissue made up organs, which made up her body. Her surroundings were her, and she was her surroundings. While she didn't quite process it the same way Ciara did, the principal was the same.

"Attend to your subject 'n' all, but primal magic is generally like that. Focused on connection rather than distinction," Hildegunde tells Otis while facing Ciara. Simultaneously agreeing with the girl while giving her own perspective.

"You breathe in the air. Your dead skin floats in the dust. You take as you are taken, give as you get, as part of a greater body. It makes perfect sense to pull the air, just as you would pull with your arm. Separation and over complication muddies the process."

Speaking of awareness, Hildegunde's gaze goes towards Alto. She narrows her eyes, unsure of what he's planning. The heat uncomfortable. The promise of whatever comes in two minute's time making her uneasy. She shakes her head. Focus.

"'Course, that's all easier said than done. The brain is a busy place - that connection gets lost in the noise. I wouldn't call it simple. But it is definitely felt. An instinct you lean into, rather than a thought you build."

With that, Hildegunde inhales, focusing. Feeling. Pulling. It takes a short while, but eventually, little rivers of wind dance across her skin, tracing her veins before pooling into a second skin. Copying Ciara, she moves her fingers together, to test the personal barrier. Satisfied with the result, she motions to Ciara, as if to say come at me.
Assume Hildegunde has agreed to be Ciara's partner. I was gonna have her respond to Otis as well but hopefully I can get to that in the next round. Apologies again.
Hi sorry work has been putting me through Unbelievable Bullshit recently and my one day off I had to spend doing favours for my sister so if I don't get a post up later today you can just skip me. Sorry.

Edit: Yeah you can skip me. I have the world's biggest headache over today and this job in general.
