Orion: New Beginnings
Since the Dawn of Civilization, man has always been fascinated by the stars above, and always has sought to venture out beyond the earth and explore the stars freely. Humanity's long, distant dream would soon become reality.

In 2135, new faster then Light and Terraforming technologies thrust humanity into a new golden age of exploration and colonization. Travel between Earth and Mars took mere days, accelerating the terrforming process. Within the span of a hundred years, humanity had fully colonized almost every corner of the Sol System, almost all of humanity's woes seemed to be remedied, but that was unfortunately not the case.

The Sol System was under the governing hand of the United Solar Council, a more direct soon to be controlling descendent of the long defunct United Nations. At first, it's attempts to gain power had gone unnoticed, with small changes. However, it's power grabs became less subtle, and more hostile, the more independent minded colonies had sought to leave the council as it become more clear of it's corruption, as most of the Earth and the moon itself, lost their sovereignty.

By 2250, the Solar War had begun. The United Solar Council, now in control of over half the system, had amassed their armies and fleets to seize control of the remaining colonies outside its dominion. The last colonies soon formed the Colonial Coalition, and for seven years, had fought a fierce war for their freedom.

The war took it's toll on both sides as the worlds of Sol were scarred by the fires of war. By the War's end, there was no clear winner, as chaos and anarchy reigned, all semblance of order, now gone.

For years this went on, and for many, this was too much to handle, too much to take in, and so it happened, the Great Exodus of 2260. Millions had fled in massive colony ships, venturing out towards the unknown, leaving behind those that remained to fend for themselves in a tattered Sol. It was a dark time for the human race, but like all things, it won't last forever.

It is now the year 2590, over three centuries since the Great Exodus. Humanity had finally fulfilled its dream of traversing the stars, colonizing many worlds of the the region now dubbed the "Orion Sector" and in its time of mass colonization, not only did the many worlds make contact with each other, but have made contact with alien civilizations as well, both advanced, and those not unlike human kind of the distant past.

The fate of Sol System however, is yet to be known. But mankind has been giving the gift of a new start. A new age has begun, what part will you play in these uncertain times?

Welcome to Orion: New Beginnings, set far into the future. We play as quickly reemerging human nations, as well as alien nations that were here before. The primary setting for the rp is of course, the Orion Sector, a large region of space consisting of hundreds of star systems. Here not only do we play as Nations, but as Organizations as well, be they pirates, mercs, etc.

For the technology of the setting, I'm looking for a good mixture of both hard and soft sci-fi. FTL of the setting, for humans a least, is called the Warp Drive(unimaginative I know :P). Warp Drives reduce travel time greatly, but are not instant. Travel between worlds can take up to a few days, travel between systems, depending on distance can take up to a week, to a few weeks or to a month, travel outside the sector however, is not advised, it would take years to find another sector on warp drives.

So with that out of the way. If this gets enough attention, let's have fun and work to create a great story :)

Fiviune System, Deep Space
Somewhere along the outer edges of the Fiviune System, the Crusader, a lone Acclamator Carrier, cruised silently through the freezing darkness of space as it went for it's last round of patrol duty before it would make its eventual return to Magnus Fivi. In the quiet, uneventful journey, the Crusader was slowly passing through the heart of an old ship scrapyard, a left over of the Trade Federation's last incursion into Grumani Space a few years ago. Dozens of ships now reduced to hundreds, perhaps thousands of shredded, melted metal slowly drifting around the system. The Crusader and her crew had paid witness to this battle, and were the few to survive the onslaught.

Crusader Command Bridge
From within the carrier's command bridge, sat a human officer, looking close to his mid thirties, slumping over his chair, his eyes blankly starring into the void in front of him, and beside him was an old T-series Super Tactical Droid, an old leftover after the uprising, reprogrammed and repainted into shades of teal, blue and some gray.

"Captain Angmos, Patrol of the border shall end within the hour." The droid droned to the Captain. He shook his head and sat straight up at attention. "Thank the Force." Captain Agnmos said with a sigh of relief. "This can't end any sooner...can't wait till we get home."

For a good minute the Captain watched optimistically at the stars as their shift nearly came to an end, watching as a wing of starblades zooming pass the Cruader's bridge. "Dobe" he spoke of the name of the droid." Any interesting reports from fighter patrols?" The droid remained silent for a moment as it reach for a small datapad, scanning the reports in the logs. "None of importance thus far, Captain." He replied. "All is quiet."

"Ah, well good then. Last thing we need is surprise invasions from the feddies." words that he'll regret uttering as sirens soon followed, red lights flashing intensely. "Sir! We got several hyperspace signatures ahead of us!" one of the crewmen cried out.

"Oh what the hell!?!?" He shouted out, throwing his arms up in frustration for a brief moment before quickly sitting down. "Damn it all....battle stations!"
I'll try to get a post up today.
So where you thinking of placing yourself lordzell?
Say Captain, interested in becoming one of my main suppliers?
United Republic of Grumani

History:
With the fall of the Republic, hundreds of sectors now had to fend for themselves, even more so for those in the Outer Rim Territories, what little presence the Republic had in the Outer Rim had now once for all was lost. The first few years were particularly harsh for the peoples of the Outer Rim, Many sectors now engaged in warfare amongst themselves, both out and within, others under attack by pirates and raiders, and the Trade Federation was slowly encroaching the southern regions. Few sectors were able to stand tall against the chaos, Grumani was among those few. Following the Republic's Downfall, the Leaders of the Grumani Governments immediately begun to organize a plan for the coming years and t push out the CIS presence in Grumani. Simultaneously all the systems in the Sector rose up in open rebellion against the CIS garrisons, The rebellion, while successful, was very bloody, many losses were taking, but it was a necessary sacrifice. The Grumani Sector soon became a sovereign entity and as such, they begun to fortify their borders and militarize. As a first step, The collective Planetary Security Forces of the Grumani Sector were merged and reorganized into the United Grumani Armed Forces, three months after the formation of the Military, the leaders of the Sector officially announced the establishment of the United Republic of Grumani, with Ventruun proclaimed Capital of the United Republic.

For a good few years, seven years after the fall, the URG along with few others were shining beacons of Hope and Order in the Outer Rim. Worlds, systems and sectors looking to them for aid and leadership, and with Grumani along the path of a few of the Hyperspace Lanes, it also became a Center of Commerce and Trade in the South. This rather short time of prosperity came to an unfortunate end once the Trade Federation begun an invasion of the Grumani Sector, after years of carving through and covertly controlling the Southern Mid Rim sectors, the Federation launched an all-out attack on the Northern Stellar Border of the Sector.

The first five months of the war were bloody for the URG, as they fought a losing Campaign for the Aquilaris System and were slowly pushed back by the superior numbers of the federation. Despite the losses, the United Grumani Military continued on the fight against the Federation till the soon-to-be-famed War Hero, Admiral Risa Kanu, would take command.

Under her leadership, morale improved for the Grumani Military, for what they lacked in numbers, were soon made up for her guerrilla tactics. For a month Kanu's fleet was slowly wearing down the Federation Invasion fleet, while the Ground Campaign on Aquilaris Minor had been effected by the sudden turn around as federation ground forces were now without Orbital support and no constant flow of reinforcements, giving the garrisons stationed on the planet the much needed morale boost to push back the enemy.

It wasn't long before reinforcements arrived for defenders, the Grumani Navy and Army were able to put up an fight against the federation in the famous Fourth Battle of Aquilaris Minor. Hundreds of Ships on both sides locked in fierce combat over the planet, while the Grumani and Federation Armies fought their final battle at the Capital City of Qinlo. The Space Battle lasted for nearly a day, while the battle for the Capital City lasted for a four days.

In the aftermath, the Grumani United Republic was victorious, but the danger was far from over. For the last Twelve years, the URG and the Federation had been in a permanent state of war as the two sides often engaged each other, from small skirmishes, to full blown battles and campaigns.

In the present day, thanks in part of the Aquilaris Campaign, the URG has emerged into Regional Power status as it struggles to survive in a chaotic Galaxy.
Don't mind having a neighbor at all :)
