Personality:

Stern and embittered, Admiral Hennir Karlomman is dedicated to the concepts of Order and Justice. The pillars that hold galactic civilization together and are embodied by the Galactic Empire. As far as he is concerned, only a strong, authoritarian and centralized government such as the Empire is able to truly bring safety and peace to the masses of the Galaxy. After all, its the burden of those with power and strength to ensure the well being of those below them.

The Admiral, however, is not blind to the flaws within the system. Though he rationalizes them as the fault of individuals. Ambitious and greedy officers undeserving of their positions who would rather line their pockets and amass personal power rather than do their duty. This has lead to no small amount of tensions and problems for him. As the parasites he so deeply hates more often than not are simply too powerful and well entrenched to be dealt with as the law demands. Forcing Karlomman to swallow his anger and compromise his principles time and again for the greater good of the Empire.

His loyalty to the Empire, however, remains absolute. Having to suffer more than a few rotten apples are an expected, though unfortunate, reality of the universe. And in the end, the benefits that the strong rule of the Empire brings will always far outweigh the weak, corrupt, lawless and indecisive authority of the Republic.

A strict disciplinarian, the Admiral holds his officers to the same high standards he holds himself, trying to instill a harsh but fair atmosphere in his command. A mixed success so far, for though the bulk of his own forces are still lacking in his own eyes, the Admiral has nevertheless managed to turn the ad-hoc mix of battered squadrons and lines into a cohesive and competent fighting force.

Biography:

Scion of a minor Ganthelian aristocratic family, Hennir's formative years were shaped by his father. A retired officer of Ganthel's local defense fleet, the elder Karlomman, Serej, raised his children and ruled his family with the same mindset of his officer days. Demanding utmost obedience and discipline from all under him.

A fervent critic of the Republic, Serej's impassioned rantings against the weak, corrupt and ineffective Senate molded young Hennir's opinions on democracy as a whole. Cementing in his mind the idea that the Republic was unsuitable and undeserving to rule the Galaxy. As they grew up, Hennir and his siblings excelled in their studies. Driven on to excellence by the demanding taskmaster of a father.

The start of the Clone Wars and the rise of Palpatine brought an almost immediate change to the Karlomman household. For not matter how bad the Republic was, Serej had decided the Separatists (nothing more than a mob of pirates, aliens and droids ruled by corrupt corporations according to him) were worse. Furthermore, the Karlomman patriarch, like many billions across the Republic, were enthralled by the charisma of the new Chancellor.

The war itself did not reach Ganthel, though Serej dedicated all of his resources and influence into helping eradicate the Separatist threat. Two of Hennir's older brothers served in the Republican navy (perishing in the course of the war) while his sisters were married off to seal political alliances and increase the power of the pro-Palpatine faction in the planet. By the time the war ended and the New Order came to power, Hennir was already studying in a local military academy in preparation for future service in the navy, while also having his own political marriage arranged for when he came of age.

The rise of the Empire also saw a upturn in the Karlomman's family luck. Serej's rabid Pro-Palpatine positions and actions during the Clone Wars had earned him enough recognition to make him a powerful political player on the planetary level and giving him enough influence and wealth to secure a slot to the Academy on Prefsbelt IV before continuing his education in Anaxes.

Hennir thrived in this new environment. Easily adapting to the discipline required by the military education and a true believer of the ideals of the First Order, Hennir strove to become a model student. The rare words of praise that sometimes came on the mail driving him to reach his utter limits.

Eventually, he graduated, managing to secure a short leave, travelling home to celebrate with his family and marry his intended. Hennir returned to service quickly and served in a multitude of commands across the Galaxy, mostly hunting pirates.

Actual military service however, wasn't exactly what Hennir expected. The persistent rot that hid beneath the shiny surface of the Empire wasn't something covered in his education. And realizing just how powerless he was to "make things right" only served to increase Hennir's bitterness towards the "parasites destroying the system." By this point he had already made enough noise to mark him as a possible troublemaker, earning him a immediate transfer to more dangerous theaters. In the hopes that the constant combat would be enough to distract or kill him.

For his part, Hennir welcomed the challenge. Striving now to advance enough in the Navy's ranks to amass enough power and influence to actually make a difference and help safeguard the Empire against threats both internal and external. His competence and fanatical loyalty eventually secured him an independent command followed by an Admiral's commission a couple years later.

The promotion further bolstered Hennir's resolve. Surely now, he would be able to act against the rats and parasites leeching of the greatness of the Empire with the same strength and decisiveness as he used against the dissident scum plaguing the Outer Rim. Unfortunately that was not to be. Hennir simply lacked the political acumen and power to achieve any lasting change. After ruffling one too many feathers, the Admiral was demoted to Commodore and reassigned to some forgotten backwater in the Rim.

His career would be dead, if not for sheer coincidence. Unbeknownst to him, the sector Hennir was reassigned to, had just been selected by the Rebel Alliance to house a major base of operations. The increasingly bitter officer just happened to come across the rebel's trail as he pursued pirates. Catching the dissidents by surprise and eliminating their still under construction facility was enough to put Karlomman back into the radar and allow him to recover his lost position.

By then, however, it had become clear that Hennir would have to give up his grandiose dreams of reform. Not the least for the fact that it had become increasingly clear to him that he was treading on very thin ice. Only his family's political influence had saved him so far. But anymore attempts to "rock the boat" would not be dealt with in so merciful manner in the future.

Resigning himself to the fact, Admiral Karlomman instead turned his attentions towards crushing the external enemies of the Empire and hoping that once they were defeated, the Emperor would finally have the freedom to deal with the parasites eating away the New Order's foundations.

The Battle of Yavin IV came as a shock to Karlomman, and the following strain placed upon the Empire pushed the Admiral's forces to their limits. Though he always prided himself in how he managed to rise up to the challenge. Repeatedly requesting deployments in the most active warzones.

The death of the Emperor and following fracture of the Empire, for all the chaos and destruction wrought upon the innocent, did give Karlomman some measure of perverse satisfaction. The parasites, rats and leeches that tried to ruin his career had indeed sought to bring the end of the Empire, just as he had warned so many times.

The near collapse of central authority also gave him the necessary freedom and excuse (both for himself and for his subordinates) to act decisively. Ignoring conflicting orders and offers from the rising Warlords, Karlomman took his ships to the Taldot Sector in the Mid Rim, stamping down the local warlords and absorbing their forces in the name of the Ruling Council back in the Imperial Centre. While extending his reach to neighboring systems and absorbing the loyalist forces there. Establishing himself as an oasis of order and stability in the utter lawlessness and chaos that is the region

The systems under his command now reel under a strict martial law and war mobilization while his subordinates enact extensive purges in the Council's name, seeking to hunt down both rebel sympathizers and the corrupt parasites who are also to blame for the dire situation the Empire finds himself in.

Those that have a reason to be in the meeting, to be part of the Imperial Ruling Council, can be present. In the first place this opening post serves as the gun-shot at a running race.

Those that do not, carve out their own stories. This can be done in a number of ways. We're not going to hold your hands and provide an overarching plot insofar as that it defines everything you do. You are all aware of what is going on in the galaxy, from the OOC to the post.

However, if you do want an active influence on our part, suggest plotlines, twists, scenes etc. I cannot possibly cover everything going on in the SW galaxy with every lovely character you guys made in a single post. You're encouraged to interact with one another and write your own stories. Strike out with someone else, on your own, with a small group of people. We've provided the canvas, now paint yourself on it (according to the basic principles of mutual enjoyment).

Short answer: you start your own way. The GM/Co-GM does not need to arrange how you ALL meet. Some of you might not meet one another at all. It's up to you. If needed we'll act as arbitrators or story-telling bridges.

Skills/Abilities:

- One Shot, One Kill - Sem is a crack shot and everything that implies. He's been called an idiot savant before and he's alright with that--apparently being an idiot hasn't stopped him from being able to pop an Imp from as far away as is bloody possible. His time with the Rebellion has honed that skill, and now you'd be hard-pressed to find a better sharpshooter.
- Bleeding Heart - Like all Zeltron, Sem is mildly telepathic. While he's able to project his own emotions to a greater or lesser degree, he is unfortunately talented at reading and vicariously experiencing the emotions of others, which is just as awful as it sounds on the battlefield. This is further complicated by his latent sensitivity to the force--while he assumes his ability to pick snippets of thought us just an extension of his natural gifts, in truth it's a bit more than that.
- Come and Get Me - Sem may not be the strongest guy around but he's fast and knows how to make himself scarce when the time comes. For a guy in all red, he's really good at the disappearing act when he needs to be.
- The Zeltron Kid - No, that's not what they actually called him, but he spent some formative years putting holes in people from really far away and not getting caught. As such has some decent urban guerilla skills, and those have only broadened to include rural ones as well. One man's serial killer is another man's freedom fighter...
- Play Nice, Guys - Sem's no great shakes with a poem or a speech, but as one can imagine he's a fair hand with keeping up morale. Almost literally compelled to try and smooth things over, he's a smooth talker with a self-deprecating kind of humor that can't help but make the day a little easier. If that doesn't make him the best leader, it does at least make him a popular one.

Psychological Profile:

Sem Taask didn't care for a long time.

He was exactly the kind of soldier the Rebellion saw too many off, the ones that were already dead and just hoping to make it official (and take a few more Imps with them along the way). Nothing mattered to him because, as far as he was concerned, tomorrow was a bonus. A people pleaser by inclination and necessity, he was the first to make jokes around the camp at night and the first to head after a trooper who shouldn't have been alone just then. A self-deprecating joker who worried about others instead of himself, being placed in command of a squad has both helped and hurt this aspect of him.

In many ways, becoming a Sergeant is saving Sem. He needed to realize that his own life had merit, even if only for the people around him. In other ways it's exacerbated the problems he's always had--now he needs to deal with people more directly than ever, and it's hard not to take it personally when you can tell exactly how shit your talz buddy thinks you're going to be as a leader. If he spends more time alone than he did before, or at least far enough away from his troop not to have to deal with their thoughts and experiences, then there are worse things. Careful and cautious, a leader who puts the well-being of his troops ahead of straight victories, he's more determined and ever to see his men through now. He's not about to let these men who put their lives on the line go down when they finally started to win.

History:

Marisk IV was a shithole smuggler's moon out in the Outer Rim. Not large enough to be a major haven or in the way enough to be particularly useful, it was good almost entirely for being far enough off the beaten path that nobody would bother to look for you there. That is, unless you knock over an Imperial supply line and are stupid enough to leave a trap that ISB can follow. Sem would never know who it was that actually brought down the heat, but one day the Imperial landing craft showed up and never left. Anyone that would put up a real fight was smart enough to get the hell off world or to know that it wasn't theirs, and so the moon was occupied and oppressed with fairly little resistance. The big wig on the ship set up martial law, the troopers shot first, shot second, and then kicked you in the ribs a few times when they realized you were still standing and marched on to find some other street rat to kick for answers he didn't have.

A dancer by trade and a prostitute by greed, Sem's mother was actually fairly well reputed on the moon for having a heart of gold and a hot little...well. Popular enough to get by and raise her son after his deadbeat smuggler of a father got himself shot and his ship stolen to strand themselves on the stupid moon, life didn't really change very much for the two of them until a Falleen got rough with her. Sem, around fourteen or fifteen at the time and a moderately accomplished pickpocket, runner, and all around good-natured ne'er-de-well, got the smart idea in his head that he would make sure people didn't go around messing up his mom and put a few blaster rounds into his back.

There weren't a lot of big fish on Marisk, and he wasn't one, but there were a lot of medium fish and Sem was barely a minnow. If you catch him in an ironic mood, he'll say that it's funny how Imperial Law probably saved his life--when some of the falleen's friends came by to teach young Sem what happens to people that lit up their buddy, the only thing that stopped them from bashing his brains out was the troopers at the door who bust in and arrested everyone. Sem was 'taken to the infrimary' for his injuries (read: strapped to a gurney until they figured he wasn't going to bleed out) and his mom was taken away to the make-shift holding cells that people went to indefinitely for 'questioning'.

Throwing a zeltron whore into the middle of whatever pissed off scum the Imperials decided to haul in that day/week/month worked out about as well as you'd expect.

She wasn't the same when she came back, and when she put herself out of her misery a little while after healing up neither was Sem. Was it the Empire's fault that shit happened? Probably not. Could they have stopped it? Absolutely. More importantly, he never saw any of those fucking falleen again, and with an axe to grind and nobody to talk you out of it a white target is a white target. Funny thing about it was that it just seemed natural to him to head down to the local fence, get himself a blaster rifle and start picking targets. As a zeltron he knew better than to be anywhere near people when they died--you do not need all that shit in your head, especially if you're the one who made it happen--and he was never that great with a knife anyway. He knew the city, he knew how to run away, and very fortunately he knew how to shoot, which was sort of as much of a surprise to him as anyone else. Not exactly known as a thug or a fighter, it just...clicked.

Like the trigger, when he punched that first hole through the troopers face.

It went on a lot longer than he thought it would. He didn't really have a plan, didn't really know what he was doing other than fighting back. He was just so fucking angry, and if he didn't do something he'd have really lost it. Eventually Marisk IV got to be well known for its resistance snipers. There were copycats, there were idiots, there were little rebellions that got crushed and bigger rebellions that got crushed harder, and if the Imperials were there at first because they were looking for something they stayed because there was still someone out there shooting them.

He wasn't surprised that they caught him; he was surprised that they took so long. Riding suicidal depression like a cruiser in hyperdrive, his glowstick was cracked and leaking--he'd make enough credits for ammunition, food, and his narcotics de jour. He'd pick up his rifle, go hunting, and lather, rinse, repeat. One day ISB was waiting at his house and he didn't even bother to fight--he wasn't proud of it, but he surrendered, and truth be told he was happy enough to just let it...end.

It was going to be public with him, they told him after his story. This had gone on long enough, and between him and another three they rounded up earlier they were going to make an example to try and quell this once and for all. They probably would have, too, had the Rebel Alliance not seen a rife recruiting ground when they saw it. They sent in the Uslam Liberators to do what they do best--and they did--and when the smoke cleared he was out of his handcuffs and looking up to a rifle being handed his way. It would be a shame, they were telling him, to waste a trigger finger like that getting killed on some backwater moon. He was smiling when he took the rifle and got to his feet, because he knew they were right.

At this point, he was at least worth killing on some backwater planet.

That was three years ago, which is two-and-a-half longer than Sem and pretty much anyone else thought he'd make it. His squad had been through a lot and casualties were high, but Sem had both luck and talent on his side. He may not have been a brilliant soldier, but you don't send your best marksman in with the first wave. His talent for independent operations, support fire, and keeping his head down meant that he tended to keep his distance, which tended to increase one's life expectancy. His promotion to Corporal was unimportant to both him and the squad--Sergeant Biss was a sonofabitch who barely needed himself a second-in-command, and he'd gotten it more for being the longest standing member of the squad than he had any sort of ambition or desire to lead. And that was all well and good until Sergeant Biss took an AT-ST's Dymex concussion grenade to the face. After the battle chain-of-command had the Corporal of the squad take up the position...

And that Corporal was Sem.

Now the leader of Mynock Squadron under Lt. Gardevin, Sem and his newfound men have perhaps their most significant mission so far ahead of them. They and the rest of the platoon were 'on loan' to Han Solo and Chewbacca's little resistance thanks to a favor the Lieutenant owed the smuggler and have been sent ahead to scout Kashyyk for the assault proper. That things are about to go to down the rancor's throat is a given, but Gardevin isn't one to let a debt go unpaid.

Besides, they're almost ready. Intelligence suggests a gap in the blockade in a few days, which means reinforcements. What could possibly go wrong.

The game had changed. Where once there had been one, now there were many. Where once there had been one, now there was none. Emperor Palpatine was gone, as was Vader. Their dominion quickly turning into a carcass beset on all sides by scrap-hungry vultures. It was not the Rebel Alliance or the fledgling New Republic that consisted the largest danger looming over the crumbling Empire. It were the jackals let loose after Palpatine’s death.

Ostensibly an homage to the self-same appellation accorded the ancient Atrisian Empire’s generalissimos, the designation of “Warlord” transcended distinctions among the myriad branches of the Imperial armed forces, prompting universal obedience and respect. Military minds noted for their express mixture of creativity and ruthlessness, they were distinguished from the ranks of grand Moffs, grand generals and even grand admirals by not only repeatedly redefining the impossible, but doing so with inimitable panache.

In the leaderless vacuum, the title of “Warlord” was hijacked by power-hungry Imperials of non-existent integrity. Undeserving small fish and second-tier “replacement” warlords like poached the rank in all its supercilious glory…but the self-appointed warlords also came in a much more dangerous variety: megalomaniacs like Admiral Blitzer Harrsk, ultranationalists, and superlative sadists. These Imperial rogues would keep the New Republic from claiming true victory over the Empire but were the single greatest threat to said Empire themselves. Their selfishness would destroy the Imperial State and that was something High Admiral Caul Bylvers was not going to let happen. He had already dealt with Harrsk in his own way and returned his Deep Core fiefdom back to the fold – albeit under Caul’s own command.

That did not, as some voice accused, make him a warlord himself. He adhered to the crumbling Imperial Government embodied in the Ruling Council. Unlike others, Bylver’s declaration of loyalty to the Empire was no empty gesture. Still… a solution had to be found for the council’s division and indecisiveness. Every moment they lost was a gift to their enemies.

Steeling himself against more possible accusations – for these seemed to fly back and forth over the table and an increasingly annoying rate – Caul adjusted his impeccably starched white Admiral dress and marched into the chamber. Shock-troopers guarded the entrance, the crimson markings on their white armour flaring violently against the dark grey background.

Inside, a large round table took up the centre of the room with the glorious Imperial symbol encased within. Thirteen chairs provided seating to thirteen council members. In the past these had been occupied by Palpatine’s leashed yes-men, but those had all but gone. Power made for a seat on the interim ruling council, and so it were Moffs, top-brass officers, intelligence brokers and – of course – that vestige Mara Jade who had been able to lay claim on a chair. Maybe, just maybe that revenant force-user could be swayed. Security in the Empire could benefit from her talents, at least if she was not to... damaged.

Reports flashed across the hologram that illuminated the table’s interior symbol, and Caul was eager to check what information the ISB was supplying them now and match it with his independently gathered intel. He would have to be making his own report to the council himself soon enough.
