My Very Brief Bio

Male, 33 years old. (I'm even more dead than before.)

Likes (other than writing and roleplaying): I'm into all genres of music. I love to cook. I love the outdoors, and walking through the park near my house. (Yes, really.) I read a lot of thriller/mystery novels. And I usually watch seasonal anime. (Or cooking shows. Because Western Media provides even fewer things that are worth watching.)

But as for my many other neglected hobbies, I've played basically every sport. (Soccer and Bowling being my favorite of the bunch.) And I'm trying to play more video games. (Going through my never-ending Steam library.) Plus, I've dabbled in making electronic & metal music, and I used to play a number of instruments. (Guitar, French Horn, etc.)

Hope you have a wonderful day!

And hey. Gaming twitter isn't all bad.

Though Twitch has another new story of controversy and failure. Because of course it does. (Look up 'Artesian Builds' if you want some drama in your life.)
I certainly haven't played any Soulsborne game long enough to consider myself "a fan" per say. (Still need to play more of them.) But yes, I agree that fandoms tend to be the worst part of any popular series.

Fromsoft (like Bethesda but less shit) often release games on a grandiose scale, that are buggy and feel unfinished in certain aspects. But I think people are allowed to be happy that Elden Ring is a 'fuller' experience than most games that have been released lately.

But when it comes to consumers versus game (journos, devs, or companies.) The former is almost always correct. So I think its fair to poke fun at the 'critiques' that so clearly come from a place of envy and people who don't do better. (Though yes, it's a general rule that if you want to maintain respect for anyone. You don't go on their twitter.)

Personally, I tend to enjoy open world game design, and would probably find both games perfectly entertaining. (Or not. I'm sometimes picky that way.) Though I think most people who are already interested in playing either game, won't care what particular fans or developers say. Since most people won't even be aware of them saying anything at all.

@Fabricant451 So to change the subject. What would be your argument/sales pitch for the Horizon Forbidden West? Like, what does it do better than its predecessor? Or other "open world games" of its ilk. (Since you don't seem fond of Far Cry, BoTW or Elden Ring.)

I'd guess Monster Hunter would be something you'd be fond of. (If that's something you've played.) Since bow-style combat with large colorful monsters seem to be the core gameplay, from what little I've browsed from lets plays of the game. (And the minimap looks very much like an Ubisoft open world game. Which is more of an observation than anything else.)

No.

What is the weirdest thing you do or believe (that you're willing to share with the class) ?

Because life is suffering.
I did write a rant about Warframe sucking at "making its game hard". And how my interest in Elden Ring has grown substantially. But this is shorter.

Also, I was going to laugh at the Horizon Zero Devs (and a guy who helped create the worst Battlefield) whining about the latter's success. And how its now frequently topping the steam charts and beating Lost Ark in its 24 hour player count. (A game that just had to ban/remove millions of accounts for being bots.) So it's only made me root for its success harder.

But instead, I provide you with deals.

It's literally hundreds of terrible games (and other random shit) for ten bucks. But Baba is You is one of them. So there's that. Still good for nine days.

Also, because New World was mentioned at some point. I found a video that shows how much of a shitshow that became.

And Hbomberguy's new video is entertaining if you have three hours to kill.
