@WindsOfFateI say play whatever suits you; no one has committed to a villain yet, so you shouldn't have any real competition in the 'evil' department.

Kouki is gunning for Blue, Wade is looking at the 6th Ranger who's color is unknown (which, according to Pro, won't be for some time), Renny is after the Red Ranger, I am looking at the Yellow Ranger, and alexfangtalon is apparently looking at a Green Ranger.

I believe that everyone else is willing to fill in, depending on the roles that still need people. No role is first come first serve according to Pro, so try your hand at whatever role you're interested in, and Pro will decide based on quality and how much he believes a character would fit. I'd have a backup plan. For instance, if I don't get Yellow I'll go to Assistant, and then to General/Villain. Of course, people can change their minds whenever they want, since the actual thread has yet to be made. I might even change my mind from Yellow to either Assistant or General/Villain. It's good to have options!
@Renny Aww~ And that was always the goal for me, personally. To make you think about the situation and the obstacles that are going to be faced. We should be tested both physically and emotionally.

@alexfangtalon You can be creative. All it takes is thinking. A lot of thinking. So much thinking that you begin to wonder if you're annoying people by thinking.

Hoping to see some cool characters.
@ProPro Dope.

1 - I like it. If you need name ideas, ask us. Since this is near-futureish, we may not need to try very hard to make everything star warsy. We probably wouldn't need an 'EPSILON BETA GAMMA colony 139231" when "New Columbia" would probably work xP

2 - Uphill battle is uphill, even with some civilians. I like.

3 - Excellent. Have a little sister character that kept her big sisters old stuff around.

4 - Alright.

5 - Nostalgia trips incoming for my character then, eyyy. I gotta pick her favorite rangers ever ahead of time then.

6 - Yikes. Alright. I had to know because I think the 'knowing how to fight' thing isn't going to be for me, I'd rather it be something they work at over time.

So basically our characters just don't comprehend why everyone else loves Galatec despite how it's basically slavery? Okay. May also explain why, out of EVERYONE, the mentor picked them to fight.
@ProPro I'm glad you think so, because it was getting awkward to say anything after feeling that way. I've got another set for you, because I need to do something until the OOC pops up.

- What is the name of the town that this takes place in? New Earth is an entirely new planet and not just a space colony like Terra Venture. What is it about this town that sets it apart from others? What are points of interests for our characters to be able to pass the time in, such as a bar (like Ernie's juice bar in MMPR) or a cafe (like Cyberspace cafe in Dino Thunder)?

- Are Power Rangers viewed as heroes or 'terrorists' to the population? Has Galatec tried to smear them at every turn, or the less they acknowledge their existence the better off they believe they'll be, since they've been beaten plenty of times?

- Is there any Power Ranger merchandise they could have bought or brought from somewhere? Comic books, figurines, etc. Of course Galatec wouldn't want that, but was there something before they arrived that people could have kept secret?

- Are past ranger teams remembered, from MMPR to the most recent? Not identities, just their teams and themes.

- Tommy created a detailed archive of all teams leading up to his in Dino Thunder. Is it possible that the current mentor could have that information somehow, and then combine it with the alien rangers that were formed since leaving original Earth?

- It's unlikely, but does Galatec allow things like fighting schools to be made available in society? Someone mentioned martial arts, so I wonder if Galatec killed off any possibility of ANYONE knowing how to fight even if it's through self-discipline and peace. Will there be violence in the form of entertainment, such as films? How deep do they put the pacifist ideas into society? Not every hole has to be filled, but the rangers, to me, will need some kind of edge to fight aliens that are already typically stronger than humans as you said. The suits can help them, but learning how to fight is also going to be an uphill battle depending on the skills and occupations of the ranger characters. Of course you can just say "It's Power Rangers" and then everyone magically knows how to fight, too.

@Kouki I'm not saying she won't have pleasant memories. It's that it makes it difficult to provide a diverse background. We're all slaves. We all LOVE working for the corporation because of additives. This is ten years with nothing but working for them to fill most of our days. It's hard to have a normal dream when you're forced to believe that working for Galatec is the greatest pleasure known to man--why would you want anything else when you can just be happy slaving for them? That's my problem: ten years can break any aspiration you might have had growing up. You have lost a decade of your life being forced to believe in this company. This is why I think ten years might be a bit too much for them to mount a stronger counterattack. I'd want it a little lower than that, but it isn't up to me.

So while we do function as normal people as Pro said, I'd need to see how our characters are freed from this control and function as normal again. You dedicate so much of your life to that style of living that it could hamper other hobbies you could find. Work for a decade at one place, suddenly be let go, and then what? The society is apparently very bland, with the ranger suits meant to bring people hope. This becomes more than just being forced to work, it's making your aspirations die with your will to resist.

Once we get a better idea of what's approved and disapproved in the society, I should have a better understanding of how we are going to function in a world that has become subservient. We are, to the world, the bad guys the minute we wear those suits, because we are threatening a style of living that has kept them peaceful at the expense of greater freedom to dream, and I think that's something each ranger character will have different opinions on when the time comes to think about fighting. They shouldn't want this, at all. But what if what society is had become so ingrained in them that the thought of returning to an older way was almost frightening to them? Why go back when that style of living has just benefit them so well? No one's hurting them, they're maintaining jobs, and they are allowed to do as they wish otherwise.

That's a big dilemma that goes beyond being a ranger. So there's something to these suits and to these colors (and I think Pro said this already) that help them get through to the people under control, encouraging them to see that what's happening to them isn't all them. And like you said, maybe they start thinking about what life was like for them before this willing slave business. They get peace at the expense of their own individual aspirations, which makes the argument of "is it really living if you can't have your own dream?" stronger for the rangers, while "Dreams do nothing but hurt people in the end." becomes something for the Galatec folks.

The moral compass is all over the place, and I'm thinking way too damn much. X.X

EDIT - Thank you guys.
@ProPro Alright.

@KoukiIt's not just the matter of actually learning, it's having a social environment with peers, in which you can develop a personality and interests. If I made an 18 year old, that means she had no time to make friends or a personality outside of 'boy Galatec sure is nice,' day in and day out. Pro said life was more than just that, but I'm having trouble seeing how I could write a unique character compared to everyone else if seven days a week it's worshiping a corporation. Unfortunately me asking the questions that don't involve ranger powers and weapons makes ME feel like the bad guy, so I'm just going to see what the OOC looks like when it's up. I just think ten years is a lot of time.
@ProPro Yikes, that's a lot of potential education to miss... guess I'll see what this looks like.
@Renny I'm glad I could help you, even if unintentional! I don't think any method of thinking about characters is the best, as it comes to us how it comes. Some see the face before the name or the attitude before the appearance--what matters is that they're seeing something. Your decision to focus on your character as a Ranger before the person they were before isn't wrong. Like I said, we're all most excited about something; in some cases it's the powers themselves, and for others its how the characters themselves will be tested. And as to what you said about not digging deep until you post with them, that's perfectly fine. The creative process for building characters can and will sometimes differ from others, no shame in it.

The most I know of my character's desire to be a Ranger is not out of fun or some sense of justice, but just desperation. She wants to free everyone and then return to her life as before, but how ProPro handles the story progression and how she interacts with other characters will either encourage her to consider them a team, or just think of all this as a temporary occupation, until they've pushed the enemy back far enough that she can walk away and trust everyone else to finish it. She can be more social with the group or more antisocial, depending on the mannerisms and habits of each. Basically, characters--people--they evolve, and it's exciting to get back into a group style roleplay after so long doing 1x1's.

So, should I get accepted, and should my personal hype not die before this starts, I'm eager to see how things unfold and what the decisions will be for my character.
@Renny Rangers are still people beneath the suits. I was hoping to focus on the character more than the actual fighting, power-ups, zords, etc, but I recognize that the wants of everyone in the rp are going to be pretty diverse. I have a ranger in mind that will avoid it whenever she can and, depending on interactions and plot, will either grow to accept the role closer to her heart or will eventually surrender it if she can.
@ProPro Okay I really needed that clarification. Now everything is adding up for me. I appreciate the response. Is education also infiltrated? As in, are children/young adults taught about these aliens at some point in the day, or is it 100% labor with no chance to learn as you grow? I was gonna go for a student character, so I just wanted to be sure of it.
@ProPro Ten years of being slaves is a perfect excuse for everyone to be in decent shape, yet not enough to overpower those aliens you mentioned. There's also the matter of developing characters. Is life just getting up and working and then going home? Do they know the meaning of entertainment or friendship? I know it's a work in progress but based on that, I feel like my options for making a character are limited.
