Legion considered himself a pretty good tactician. He considered all the possibilities of the situation he found himself in. The one possibility he hadn't considered though was Eli Craigh running away and leaving his buddy alone. That man was certainly unpredictable. One duplicate thought about following after Eli as he ran past, simply to mock him, but he had more important things to think about. Specifically the shadow clown heading his collective way. In a strangely coordinated move, the Legions dodged Insomnium's first blow in what looked like a dance move. At the same time, they each split into two. One of each pair stayed to deal with Insomnium while the others raced towards the tree Jim was hiding in. When the reached the other Insomnium's advancing on Harper, Legion once again split and repeated the tactic with half their number dealing with the enemy while the other half quickly scaled the tree. When they reached Jim, one reached over and shoved him from his perch. He was caught on the ground by a trio of duplicates who wrapped him up in their arms and raced off with him, leaving behind a number of their brothers to distract and annoy Insomnium.

When they reached safety and were confident they had lost the shadow brat, the considered doing the heroic thing and letting Jim go free....But then they thought better of it and instead tied him to a chair and drew penises on his face. "Ok" said one duplicate, standing back to admire their handiwork "I see why Kuro likes doing this."

It was then that the world seemed to flicker and Nate's eyes widened. He paused for a moment then asked his duplicates "Did you all see that or am I just having a stroke?"

Now

"Wake up dummy"

Nate slowly opened his eyes to find himself in a strangely familiar scene. A duplicate stood over him once again but this time something was different. He was obscured by something. Nate realized then that he was under water...No...not water. Something else. He was in a capsule. And there was something in his throat. A breathing tube? Oh no! Nate began to panic as his senses returned to him. This was some sort of gruesome nightmare. It had to be. He threw his hands out, looking for some way to free himself. His duplicate was quickly there to help him and pulled the capsule open from the outside. Thank god for that duplicate. He must have spawned him without even noticing. A subconscious act. There wasn't enough room in the capsule for the duplicate so he spawned outside, free of the apparatus.

When the capsule door was opened, Nate burst up from the liquid within and quickly grabbed at the breathing tube. He pulled it from his throat with a retch and then a splutter. He was free of that but it wasn't enough. He scrambled for the side of the capsule to pull himself free of the gunk. The duplicate was once again there to help and hauled him out, slipping as he did. The two men crumbled to the ground, Nate crashing down on top of his duplicate. But he was quickly moving again. Scrambling wildly and trying to get to his feet but not able to find purchase on the slick floor. The much calmer duplicate knew he had to act. Nate was freaking out. Panicking. "Easy" he said as he grabbed hold of Nate "Calm down." Nate struggled for a moment before slipping to his backside and leaning against the capsule. "Just breathe" the duplicate told him.

Nate's heavy breathing slowly eased as the duplicate held his shoulders and breathed slowly himself in an attempt to force Nate to copy him. With one last, long exhalation, Nate was silent for a moment before he looked to the duplicate with obvious fear in his eyes. "Are we--"
"No" the duplicate cut him off, knowing exactly what he was thinking. "This is something else." He shifted then to show Nate the rows upon rows of similar capsules with people clambering free. Others ran around, obviously confused and frightened. Nate was sure he knew a few of these people. At least in passing. He watched the chaos for a moment before closing his eyes with his head resting against the capsule. He breathed in deeply, and the characteristic Legion calm washed over him once again. When we opened his eyes again he reached out to his duplicate who took his arm and hauled him to his feet. Both took another moment to look around before the duplicate asked "Alright...What do we do now?"

@SavatoI think I may have used the wrong term. I second guessed it when I typed it. On the first read through of his powers I saw it as him being able to force anyone to do whatever he wants and you have to admit that the potential is there for misuse. Not that you'd do that though.

After rereading though I feel better about the power.

@Pirouette Well I've been playing a dog. One of the least powerful characters in the game but also one of the most fun characters I've ever played.

Anyway, like I said, I don't actually have a problem with any of our current characters so long as they don't abuse their powers at the expense of other players. I was just curious about why people feel the need to have super powerful characters. But like Raijin and yourself pointed out, it's just fun sometimes.

@Savato I wasn't talking about your character specifically, this is just something I've been thinking about for a while. Although I have to admit, sentences like "Emile's power lies in ability to use words and sentences to completely dominate whoever stands before him" do kind of bother me. It sounds like he could come close to some type of god-modding.

I mean don't get me wrong, I trust that you won't do anything too big with other peoples characters but the potential for abuse is undeniably there with powers like that.

Why do so many people in this game have such immensely powerful characters? I mean I like all the characters but I have to admit that I'm not fond of such strong powers.

Am I the only one who feels like this?

Legion was just getting into the song when he felt something change. His duplicates were being heartlessly murdered...again. Honestly, did no one respect the sanctity of a clone's life? If this kept up he'd be stark raving crazy by the time he was 30. Of course some would argue that he already was but that wasn't the point. Every duplicate that died twisted his psyche that little bit more.

As Billy Jean was replaced by Thriller and the crazies appeared all around, Legion felt an overwhelming compulsion to dance. And so that was exactly what he would do. The clones jumped to their feet and in a synchronized movement began to dance the Thriller dance. Pretty damn well they thought. Sure there was a small group of murderous shadows advancing on them but hell, this wouldn't be the first time Legion had danced while fighting an enemy. Sure, there was a pole and a lot of flashing lights involved the last time but that was another story entirely.

This may have seemed like an inappropriate tactic for the situation but all of the duplicates were ready to dodge whatever this jerk through at them. The enemy may have had a more threatening power but Legion could be horrifyingly quick when need be.

Legion

Predators & Warriors

One last explosion sent sand hurtling into the air, causing the army of one to stop suddenly and shield their eyes. When the sand settled again, there was no sign of Eli or Jim. Slippery little buggers. Legion was almost impressed. Almost. Despite the vanishing act, there was really only one place they could have gone in the time they had. Into the jungle.

"Find them!" barked one Legion, putting on his best gravelly-voiced command voice. It sounded cool but also hurt his throat. "I want them dead or alive."
A couple of duplicates started off into the jungle but stopped when another asked "Really?...We can kill them?"
The commanding Legion replied "Well...maybe just alive...for now"
"How about..." began another "...alive but near death?"
The group thought on that for a brief moment before collectively agreeing that that was acceptable.

Into the jungle they went. Most decided to slather themselves from head to toe in dirt to blend in with their surroundings in lieu of actual camo. Some even fashioned tribal headdresses and makeshift armor from leaves and tree bark. They weren't sure what movie they were doing now but they were enjoying it nonetheless. Maybe Predator? They really hoped there wasn't some horrible beast lurking in the trees...Although they did kind of hope for the chance to yell "Get to the choppa!!!"

Makeshift camo and armor donned, the Legion of clones set out deeper into the jungle to find their prey. Years of stealth training paid off now as the duplicates blended surprisingly well with their environment. Jim and Opie wouldn't know what hit them until it was too late. They crept through the undergrowth, making sure to keep an eye to the canopy just in case there were Predators nearby. And then they spotted them. Not Predators but prey. Eli and Jim camped high in a tree.

Moving slowly but with purpose, the duplicate army surrounded the tree, making sure to stay out of sight until they were ready. They were well hidden but Eli and Jim would soon hear a distinctive clinking sound of glass on glass. One of the duplicates had brought three empty beer bottles from the bar and now wore them on his fingers. He hit them together creating a rhythmic sound and called out "Iiidioootsss. Come out to play-ayyy"
The nearest duplicate to him turned with a look of mild annoyance on his face and with a loud whisper informed him "That's the wrong movie."

Jake

Jake resisted the urge to hang his head out the side of the dune buggy as it hurtled along the beach. He was loving this though. The fast motion and the wind in his face. It had been so long since he had been in any kind of car. When the buggy slammed into the skeleton, Jake once again resisted an urge. This time to dive out and grab hold of a bone to gnaw on. That would have totally ruined the cool entrance. Of course Zachary did that by being weird and clutching his head in pain for reasons Jake still couldn't determine. He really had to get that guy to a doctor.

When Aya greeted him with a smile and a laugh, Jake's spirit rose slightly. It was good to see her and he was glad she felt the same. It wasn't often that anyone was pleased to see him. Aya asked Jake if he knew what the hell was going on, prompting Jake to run through Zachary's theory in his head once again. It was still the best explanation he had for any of this. Aya shifted her attention to the groaning Zachary and asked if he was okay. Good question. "It's nothing a stiff drink and some brain surgery can't fix" Jake told her, trying to make a joke but failing miserably "As for what's going on...Well Zachy here has some theories." He thought for a very long moment about how to explain this to her Aya but eventually decided he couldn't. He didn't even fully understand it. In the end he simply asked her "Ever see The Matrix?"

Anyone he wanted to tell? It didn't take Jake very long to run through the list of people he might want to inform. The list of people he actually gave a crap about in this world or any other was a short one indeed. First and foremost were his family. Or at least the family he had back when he was a man. But he had a feeling they wouldn't be here. He hoped they weren't. He didn't want them wrapped up in the weirdness that was his life.

Then there were a few other people who had been nice to Jake since his transformation. He thought about the woman who took him in for a brief period of time after his transformation. She had a kind heart. She gave a sad dog a place to sleep and a good meal, even though she didn't know him. Her kids were nice too, even if the teenager was a bit obnoxious. But again, he hoped they weren't here. They hadn't exactly parted on the best of terms. Jake had let his temper get the better of him when the woman's boyfriend came around. He was a jerk and didn't deserve her or her family. Jake had let him know this. Of course he came out looking like a savage animal and scared everyone he was trying to protect. He had run away after that, even though the youngest boy had begged him not to go. Just the memory of that boys face broke Jake's heart every time he thought of it.

But there was someone else Jake thought about. Someone who Jake actually hoped was here, just so he could see a friendly face. "There's a girl..." Jake told Zachary "Her name's...Aya...She's always been nice to me." He let out a sigh and added "If anyone I know found themselves wrapped up in this mess it'd be her...Girl has a way of attracting trouble."

Jake

Jake watched as Zachary pointed out some more things without even looking. He grew more and more uncomfortable with each and every object pointed out to him. The sand in particular seemed to bother the dog now. He lifted up a paw and slammed it down into the golden sand, visibly recoiling from the ringing sound it made. Why was he so bothered by this sound? Jake couldn't remember. He just knew he didn't like it and growled slightly at the ground beneath him, stopping suddenly when he remembered it wasn't alive.

When Zachary reiterated his thought that someone was using a meta ability to create this place, Jake breathed a sigh of relief. He wasn't certain that was what was happening here but it was a lot easier to stomach than the thought of being dead. After dropping the bottle of sun block onto the sand, he turned to Zachary and asked "Why would anyone want to do that? I mean this place is great and all but why include a bunch of idiots like those clowns over there in your paradise?" He turned then to indicate a bunch of people further along the beach that were getting up to all kinds of shenanigans.

Legion

Sand flying, explosions everywhere. The flashbacks didn't stop for many of the Legions. Of course some were simply flashing back to watching Saving Private Ryan but they did love the opportunity to recreate one of the greatest scenes in that movie. But again, they would have liked it more if they weren't wearing these blasted swimming trunks. At that thought, several of the spawned duplicates found that they were now wearing their Legion gear. Why had they not noticed this before? Only one stopped to question it while the others barrelled on towards the fleeing Eli and Jim, growing closer and closer. "What the hell?" he asked no one in particular as he looked himself up and down.

The others continued on without him, gaining ground on their targets and yelling so loud that all they could hear was theirselves. It was altogether quite a glorious scene, at least in the eyes of Legion. He'd have to thank Eli and his buddy for this after he drowned them both in a toilet bowl.
"You can run but you can't hide, Opie" bellowed the Legion in front as he chased Eli.

Are we playing capture the Kuro? Nate took him from Eden, Cer took him from Nate... Who's gonna take him next?

Btw there are still a couple of Legions nearby for Aya and/or Jackson to interact with.

Also, I'll be posting for Jake soon but the next Nste post may have to wait until I get home.
