Kolby began painting with acrylics at the age of seven, and eventually ventured out into oil paintings. He can also be found sketching on just about any surface. While that’s far from the truth, Kolby isn’t the most social person out there - often being called antisocial. Kolby will greet you, and even carry on small talk - just don’t expect him to enjoy it very much. The truth is, Kolby spends most of his time locked inside of his own head - constantly writing in his journal and scribbling on spare pieces of paper. He’s been caught talking to himself on many occasions. He’s creative and artistic. This is all something you can tell right off hand if he decides to open up in the slightest. While overall cold and uninviting, Kolby tends to pick and choose his friends as those who calm him and/or bring joy. He values loyalty and honesty above almost all other things in life. While toxic and assholish, he does try to be a good person from time to time. He is charming, stylish, and confident. Loyal, aggressive, and stubborn. Charismatic and daring, Kolby is always searching for his next adrenaline fix . Upon meeting him, you will notice the way that his eyes seem to watch your every move, as he tries to get a feel for your character. He’s always curious about people, and how their minds work - forever studying those around her. Kolby can be a bit difficult to get along with. He’s opinionated, strong willed, and when it comes to the select few people she allows to get close he can be possessive, territorial, and just outright toxic. He’s trying to improve, but it’s not working in the slightest. B I O G R A P H Y To put it in simple terms - Kolby’s life has been one wild ride. ____________________________________________________________________________Born in East Harlem, New York to a teenage heroin junkie, Kolby was taken care of by his grandmother for most of his earlier years. The man thought to be Kolbys father was present in his life, but Samuel had no time for a child; his only love was the bottom of the bottle. Kolby’s mother fatally overdosed when Kolby was five, triggering his father to walk out on the young boy and leave him to be cared for by his Nonna, Bella. With his alcoholic father out of the picture, and his mother dead, Bella did her best to make sure that Kolby was taken care of. No matter how full of life she was, Nonna Bella could not ignore the facts - she was old and tired. She didn’t have much time to show Kolby what love was - but damn if she didn’t do one hell of a job while she was here. Bella made sure that Kolby understood the importance of speaking, talking, and dressing right. She taught him how to cook some things in the kitchen, and tried to teach him about budgeting from a young age. Bella raised Kolby to be a well behaved, kind young man - and the world did it’s best to force that side out of him. When Nonna died, Kolby was ten years of age. The court system did their best to find any living relatives of Kolbys, but his father had also already died from alcohol poisoning. No aunts, uncles, or cousins were to be found - and that left Kolby at the hands of the foster care system. Placed in his first group home three months after his tenth birthday, Kolby found himself having to change his priorities from having nice afternoons with Nonna to survival - and quick. There were kids bigger, faster, and way stronger than he was. Taking up for himself in this group home would be one of the first signs that he was a demigod. Every Friday at the end of the month was Pizza Friday. They would all order pizza and choose a movie to watch - and every Friday, Kolby was somehow bullied out of a nice, hot slice of pepperoni. Not this Friday. When Kolby raised his fists to defend himself this time - his hands actually worked. Puzzled and shocked, Kolby sat down, unpaused the movie, and began to eat his slice of pizza while the rest of the foster kids sat in silence, processing whatever in the fuck just happened. No one messed with Kolby in the group home anymore. Between the ages of eleven and sixteen, Kolby was in and out of nine foster homes. Everywhere he went, people seemed to only want him there for the money the government would give them in return for putting up with him. His foster parents were abusive in every way, shape and form. He went to bed fearing for his life on nights where he should have felt safe and accepted - and something like that just does things to a person's mind. Over the years, Kolby became more withdrawn and aggressive. He constantly started fights at school - when and if he even went. It was hard to make friends, especially when you went around beating up anyone who dared looking in your direction. When highschool came around, it was like a whole new world for Kolby. His life didn’t improve much - but he had more opportunities now. Opportunities to go to parties, to try and fall in love, to drink and to smoke. Opportunities to live. Kolby quickly learned how good he was at manipulating people at this age, and while coming to this realization, he also began to realize more and more of the strange things in the world. Things standing in the shadows, birds overhead that seemed to try and talk to him. All of this confused and intrigued the young man, but he never spoke of it to anyone. Not until he turned sixteen. Having been removed from his final foster home, Kolby was placed back into another group home. A Satyr named Brandon disguised as a fellow foster kid found Kolby there, and approached him one night. “You don’t belong here, my guy,” Brandon began. “What the hell’s that supposed to mean,” retorted Kolby. Brandon launched into a long and confusing explanation about Kolby’s energy and how he smelled. He proceeded to mention things that Kolby had never told anyone - and so Kolby decided to trust Brandon. Venturing to Camp Half-Blood, it took a few weeks for Kolby to really settle in. During this time, he stayed in the Hermes Cabin and did his best to come to terms with the fact that this place was real. The mythological world never made sense in Kolby’s mind until the night he was claimed at the bonfire. While he didn’t feel completely accepted at Camp quite yet (and he never has) Kolby decided to stick around and be apart of the crowd of kids who called them his new family. D E M I G O D I N F O C A B I N ☠ Cabin eight, Ares. ☠ Kolby’s bedroom is overall very simple, as he doesn’t spend very much time here. He does have a PC set up in his bedroom. W E A P O N S ☠ Celestial bronze sword in this design, disguised as a simple leather cord necklace and skull charm. ☠ A set of three celestial bronze pocket knives. One is kept in his right pocket, and the other two are hidden in his boots. ☠ A set of three celestial bronze throwing knives, disguised as three platinum ring bands on his right hand. The rings are on his index, ring, and pinky fingers. A B I L I T I E S ABILITY: Tracking Skills ☠ As a child of Ares, Kolby has wicked tracking abilities. These work best on demigods, mortals, and common monsters like Cyclopes. ABILITY: Physical Blessings ☠ Being a son of Ares, Kolby has inherited enhanced strength, reflexes, and speed. ☠ The heaviest thing Kolby has even lift successfully was eight hundred pounds. ABILITY: Conflict Manipulation ☠ Kolby can cause feelings of anger, bloodlust and hatred amongst three people at a time, to the point of physical violence. This effect wears off after an hour. He can not direct their anger towards anything - Kolby creates the feeling, he does not control what you choose to do with it. ☠ At the same time he can cause one person to murder another, Kolby can also silence these feelings. ☠ Kolby can also bless someone in battle in order to take away their nervousness. This effect will wear off after the battle. ABILITY: Telumkinesis ☠ Upon touching a weapon, Kolby will know everything about it: past and previous owners, the creator, what it’s made out of, what battles it’s been used it, etc. ☠ Kolby can wield any weapon and know how to use the weapon effectively. ☠ He can transfigure up to five weapons at a time to become something else. He can use this power three times a day. ☠ Weapon Conjuring: If Kolby can picture a weapon in his head clearly, he can summon it to himself. ABILITY: Animal Communication ☠ Can telepathically communicate with Vultures. Butterflies seem more attracted to him, but he cannot communicate with them. ABILITY: Necromancy ☠ Since both of the gods in Kolby’s lineage have the powers of Necromancy, it only made logical sense that he would wind up with this ability, though Kolby wasn’t so sure since he only discovered this ability at sixteen. ☠ Kolby can summon six spirit warriors to help him during battle. They can be killed by decapitation or a stab through the heart. He can do this five times a day. ☠ Can see, hear, and talk to the spirits of deceased warriors and soldiers only. ☠ Kolby has some sort of sick sixth sense; When someone is about to die (within a three day time span), Kolby will get intense stomach pains around them. It’s not a sure fire thing - meaning that just because he feels this around you, does not mean you are about to die. Fate is subjective and can be changed. ABILITY: Shadow Teleportation ☠ Being a legacy of Thanatos, Kolby has minor control over shadows. The only thing he can do with shadows is ‘teleport’. In order to teleport, the ‘entrance’ and ‘exit’ shadow must be clearly visible to Kolby - he cannot create the shadows himself. By walking up to the ‘entrance’, Kolby must look at the ‘exit’ shadow before passing through in order to touch the entrance shadow and exit out of the other side. ____________________________________________________________________________ O T H E R
