Wonderful @Vale Kaiser! Keep your eyes on the thread for the eventual official call for crew :)

Across the Great Blue

Welcome to Idumea!
Introduction

The sea is where you belong, among the waves, the free wind and the silence of the night.

Much of the known coastlines and the islands surrounding the Three Continents have been mapped, though not everything. Most ships on sea are fishers’ boats, cargo ships owned by merchants, military vessels or yachts of the rich – throw even a few pirates into the mix. The sea surrounding the known world is a place or conflict, greed and leisure. People have lost their desire for discovery and exploration of the unknown.

You keep your eyes at the horizon, wondering if there is something more, if this really is all there is to this world. What your eyes see is just a line separating the waves from the wind, the sea from the skies and the Great Blue from the heavens. Your heart feels otherwise. The line is not an end or an endless plateau, just a barrier to be broken, a wall to be scaled. There has to be something, has to be. If you just don’t see something, it doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

You have heard the legends of how the world was divided by Ganda, the Guardian of Idumea, of how he tore the world apart, isolating a third of it to protect the rest from the forces of the Darkness. This third, that is now lost to the pages of history and legend, shrouded by myth and fables, begins to repeat itself in your thoughts. “A third. A third. A third.” When you wake up in the morning, as you perform your duties, even at the moment you close your eyes to rest, the thought of the lost third permeates your thoughts and doesn’t let you be.

I did it! I got Albahr’s Pride, she is mine now...

Across the Great Blue, is a journey across the sea. You have a ship, the best the nation of Algharb has. You choose a heading, though you don't know if it leads you to where you want it to take you. You will have a crew to help you in your journey, of which you are responsible. Will you find a lost land? Will you make it?

Most of the game is about life on board, the challenges the uncertain journey brings and facing the trials of the sea. In practice, I will play the environment/GM controlling the overall flow and trigger events while you, as a Captain/co-GM, will have the authority and control of the crew and the ship. We will play together and against each other at the same time. And if you are wondering, mutiny can overthrow you if you can't get it under control. Depending of the size of the crew we can look into having your 1st Mate (your choice from willing crew applicants) as a second co-GM.

Before posting the official call for crew, I would like to go through some plans with you regarding the mechanics and ideas behind the scenes.

If you are interested in being a Captain/co-GM or Crew, make noise! Those applying to be captains, send me a PM too – a brief sales pitch of you and your captain-character whom you get to build more afterwards.

Some practical things
There will be a turn rotation instead of free posting.
I expect at least 3 paragraphs of writing.

Any questions about the world and the game concept, please do ask :)

Sounds interesting. I'll be getting to work on a character soon. Looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Looking forward! And as I said, any questions of anything, especially lore related things, drop lines my way and we'll see about them :)
Lore

How your character relates to the following, by belief or disbelief, is up to the character.

Rules
1. Regular Guild rules apply, behave, play fair, no god mode, no playing other's characters and so on...
2. All off-topic discussion should be coloured light pink. If so desired, I can set up a discord for open chat.
3. Once the game begins, avoid using hiders. I will use them to give information to characters that is not openly known. I will use the following format:

[@mention]

4. Two (2) paragraphs is the bare minimum of a turn. A paragraph to me is three (3) good phat sentences. Three (3) paragraphs is preferred and more the merrier. ie: as much as you can is what I am attempting to say ;)
5. When the characters speak, use an easily readable colour that is other than red, which I reserve for myself for GM purposes.
6. After posting your turn, you can edit formatting and typos, though do try to it within 30 minutes of the original posting. DO NOT change your narrative unless you notice a fault in continuity or critical info, in which case notify of it in the OOC.
7. Write in 3rd person.

The game goes in rounds where I begin by playing the setting of a round and the rest of you have one turn. I will give direction at the OOC of exceptions and play the environment/NPC turns as the game goes on.

Any questions or concerns? Let's talk and solve! =)
Welcome to Idumea

A royal messenger rode into a town, calling attention from everyone within the reach of his voice. From his tone and the way he arrived, in a rush, there was no question that whatever he was about to say was important, urgent even. Once there was silence and he had the attention of all, he took a scroll with a royal coat of arms painted on its backside – a seated lion resting its paw on a shield and a crown over its head like a divine halo. He cleared his throat and began to read...

"Hear all citizens! King Gonagas, the Lord of this land and the Defender of the people, has sent out a decree to all cities, towns and villages; to all who are now living within the boundaries of the Kingdom. Hear the words of your King!

"From King Mikill Gonagas to all ready and able who are willing to take up arms in defence of the Realm,

"'The Kingdom is facing a great threat from the surrounding countries and the lands round about it, which requires immediate action. To protect the freedom of the people and the independence of our beautiful kingdom, I, the King, will send a dispatch of the Royal Guard joined with all the volunteers who are given a rank of a private in the Guard, on a pre-emptive quest to strengthen the position of the Kingdom and our ability to defend it.

Report at the gates of Helsset, the City of the King, before the harvest season begins.

May the hand of The Guardian be over us all.'"

This was the tidings the messenger came with. You are a person of remarkable skill and talent in your art be it swordsmanship, controlling the supernatural and the elements, stealth, alchemy or anything else. Regardless of the questions and doubts the strange and unexpected open call aroused, you answered and left for Helsset. Whether it was glory or adventure, title or rank, revenge or revolution. You had your reasons.

You met a group of other volunteers in the previous village you traveled through, the village of Giron - the last at least somewhat politically meaningful community on this streak before arriving to Helsset. Since Giron, you have been traveling together as a party. That was three days ago.

You are now closing in on Avveel, a small rural hamlet and the last village where you can rest and restock before continuing the final leg to Helsset.

Once approved and accepted, post the character in the character thread.

NOTE! When the character is posted in the character thread, hide all undisclosed information and secrets behind a spoiler box.

That should be all! Looking forward to your amazing characters ;)
Great! Then we have a full team it seems. I will put up a thread with some lore and what is needed from a character to begin with, I suggest fleshing them out as time goes, naturally.

@Sanity43217@Skwint@BlueAjah@Knight of Doom

If more are interested, I will keep the application open until the end of the week (Sunday 23:59 GTM+1, Oslo time). Then there will be a chance to build good characters.
Hello! I’m a huge fan of world-building, would you be interested in building one together to play in?

Would love to! Unfortunately, I just filled the slot before I saw your post. Once the current game is concluded, I’d like to take you up on the challenge.
So we have two, @Sanity43217 and @Skwint. Glad to have you tagging along!

@Randomness, joining or is it a pass this time? :)
So the entire story takes place in this village, despite the over arcing plot that volunteers are headed to that specific city?

Is there a part one to this story I missed from a previous Rp you ran?

That would be correct. This particular story happens in the village of Avveel and in its surrounding area. Mostly because I haven't figured out fully the guiding arch for the story from Helsset onwards, I have general ideas of what will happen, where the quest takes the heroes and what they will find, but not enough to commit 100% to it yet. It needs a bit more thought. If your concern is lack of content in this one, don't worry, there is enough for a good game.

No, this is where the story begins. So you haven't missed anything! :)
