Personally I don't think ANY Pokémon is more disturbing than the Paras line because damn Gamefreak, that's messed up.

It's just that my trainer is supposed to specialize in the more 'creepy' field, particularly in bug, ghost, and dark types. (The Gothita line's dex entries are on the creepy side thus why I chose it.) The problem is how limited it is.
I know as a fact that she's going to have a Shedinja on her team (it's part of what brought upon her motivation), so there's one slot taken. I'm also really thinking of having a Banette on her team eventually, so that's a slot taken for mega evolving Pokémon.
With Bug types, we do have a lot more that go through three evolutions, but most of them are on the cutesy side, such as Caterpie, Wurmple, Sewaddle, and Scatterbug. The only one which doesn't evolve into some pretty moth thing is Weedle and Venipede, one of which is taken and one of which mega evolves.
With Ghost types, there is only four Pokémon which go through three stages: Gastly, Duskull, Honedge, and Litwik. Two of those Pokémon are already taken, and Gastly mega evolves, leaving an empty spot only for Duskull. However, this would make the part be comprised mostly of ghost types.
With Dark types, our choice of selection is even worse. All we have is Deino and Sandile, the former of which is take and the latter of which isn't viewed as creepy or sinister.
So now it's either that I take away the Banette in favour of Duskull or let Duskull in and have her party be comprised mostly of ghosts. It'd be a lot easier if the starter could only evolve once or have more than one Pokémon capable of mega evolving but only have one do so, but that's not going to happen so... ^ ^"
