I think i'm going to make a Rakdos guy instead. Seems like a guild that would be. . . interesting to be apart of. Just need to do a bit more research on the guild since i know jack about Ravnica(started playing Magic during Shadow of Innistrad set)
Oh so your a newer player. Let me just inform you of one thing then.
This should help you understand.
But to summarise the guild of Rakdos is like one big death party, it is well known for using a mechanics based around either having no cards (hellbent) or no blockers (unleash). Thinking Madness from Shadows over Innistrad and you have the right Idea.
Rakdos is governed by the big daddy of hellfire himself. Rakdos's head is also the symbol of the guild. Rakdos lord of Doing direct face damage.
Being a Rakdos is like being the performance artist for a show. Where the goal is to entertain the guildmaster through the act of carnal pleasure of murder and mutilation.

Well the thing about Gorgons in magic is that they are usually capable of toggling the stone eyes. I say usually because it depends on the gorgon. But you could use magic to switch them on and off. So as to not instantly kill anyone you talk to.
Very, very nice, but I think those'd definitely be higher than rank 3. Besides, Nagas are cool enough.
Well if we take Vraska for example (shes a planeswalker I know but was in with the swarm for a time) before she became a planeswalker she was just a gorgon. It was unlikely she even had a rank. So Gorgons can be low ranked. I believe its just a heritage deal.
Name: Nicholas Thunderson Age: 22 Race: Human Appearance: Nicholas is a man of tall stature (6ft 2in) with a build that can be described as muscular among Izzet standards. His hair an auburn brown that while down to his ear is wild and unkempt looking more like a member of the Gruul then one of the Izzet. He is usually seen wearing a necklace made from vines weaved with metal which was a gift from his mother and father along with a pair of goggles used to shield his eyes from the brightness caused by the Izzet brand of magic.
His gear looks similar to the normal contraptions worn by Izzet members but he has made many an alteration to it, to make it both lighter and more durable than most if not all Izzet gear that is worn furthermore the gauntlets on his gear can be charged with his magic in order to create an electrical discharge that if refined can function as a way to charge devices or blow them up.
He prefers to wear Red and blue robes with a sprinkling of green under his gear and if one was to describe them they would look similar to blacksmiths in both form and functionality protect the wearer from heat (caused by flame or lightning).
Nicholas is a what can be described as a somewhat outgoing individual who wishes to prove themselves to be the best at effectively everything that they can. They have a great love of life as a concept as it is through life that new inventions can be created further expanding the glory of knowledge. It is this passion that drives him to invent something spectacular, he hopes to one day invent something that all the guilds of Ravnica will use for the betterment of the entire city. He works hard to improve both his inventions and himself training both his mental and physical fortitude in order to be as clean as a well-structured Engine.
Due to his personality he only really dislikes one guilds methods in particular. Rakdos. The complete disregard of self for carnal pleasure is off-putting for him. As such he has an unbiased dislike of any Rakdos member regardless of who they are.
On the opposing spectrum, he is fond of both the Izzet and the Gruul mainly due to heritage reasons. He can deeply respect the Gruul's will to survive and the nature that they go about it. While savage it is undeniably effective. His respect for that guild is to the point that he will get annoyed at anyone calling the Gruul Simple or Savages taking it as a personal insult.
In combative scenarios, he is known to be in the thick of it. As if he was a Gruul Berserker but the similarities to the Gruul end there. Instead of throwing punches he throws magic. He has a tactical mind for combat, treating it as if it was a board game. Sometimes he might take a few minutes to make sure all the pieces slot perfectly into place resulting in victory. He is not one to care for collateral damage and why should he? he is an inventor, not a builder! However, he will attempt to make sure no life outside of what is necessary is lost in the conflict.
Nick's birth was an eventful moment. Gruul clan and Izzet mages trying to get along somewhat haphazardly due to the marriage between the Gruul warrior Mia Thornfoot and Izzet guild-mage Lycan Thunderson. Imagine a band of muscular men and women armed with spears sitting down to have a cup of tea with people whom considered themselves the smartest in Ravnica. It was a particular sight and yet it was still less eventful than his parent's wedding, however. According to the stories, the reception caught fire due to one idiot from the Izzet thinking he could bring his inventions. That aside. With parents from such opposing guilds, Nicholas was always set to have quite the eventful life.
For instance, at 4 he began to learn magic. He was never really good at tapping into the power of the earth for anything. His mother understood that he didn't have enough 'green' in him to get there in order to be a strong Gruul mage. Though that didn't stop her from beginning to train him to be physically fit like a true Gruul warrior. His father, on the other hand, took the prospect of lecturing the boy in studies and the act of spellcraft. The parents together served as a pretty potent pair at turning Nick into the man he was today.
Upon reaching the age of 18 and the adulthood that came with it in Ravnica society. Nicholas decided to begin a business on his own on the Ravnican high street selling modifications to effectively anything. On the condition that it wasn't used for murder until well after he had modified its purpose. This was mainly due to his detest murdering due to his value of life. He is not against killing in self-defense, though. His mother made sure to explain that to him when they were both attacked during a visit to his mother's sister by some Rakdos looking to 'party'. Oh, the wonders of youth.
Now in present day, his business gets good work and he is able to afford to tinker more and more modifications to other inventions or items regardless of the guild the person stemmed from. His greatest invention he ever made? An Izzet gauntlet formed from the cheapest material that had its fuselage reformulated in order to reduce risk to the user by 73.6%. It made him popular among the low ranked Izzet whom couldn't afford the way more expensive options that guarantee user safety. Certainly, it made him happy.
So he sits alone in his shop on the Ravnica high street during off hours. Thinking to himself just what he could invent to help Ravnica. To become a legend in his own right. Perhaps, though... If another guild war was to break out. Would his invention be one to save people? or will it be a weapon of war? It was thoughts like that which kept Nicholas's complex mind ticking.

"Not family? Then Die." Nick is on great terms with his mother. While she wished he had joined the Gruul clans in wiping the smug look of those that wish to destroy nature with a sword in hand. She fully respects his desire to change the world through other means and supports him through it and even though she's a lady in her forties she's still a very capable ass kicker.
"Tally hoe good sir" Just like his Mother, Nick is on good terms with his father who continues to serve the Izzet league as a magus. Like father like son is what his mother would say. He fully respects his father's actions though will always correct his father's errors in his calculations (if he makes any)
While he looks a lot older than he is. His father is actually in his late 40's

Nicholas has done nothing yet to upset the dragon guild master of the Izzet. So they are on fair terms. Niv-Mizzet would very much like Nicholas to join the ranks of the Izzet in order for the guild to continue to invent and inspire others to invent some more.
In terms of the other guilds... Nicholas has him up and down opinions of each and every one of them. He has done little to upset any of them. Except perhaps the Azorius who get called often due to noise complaints at his workshop. If it wasn't for the fact that the Azorius patrolling his section were also customers he might have been arrested already.
Guild: Izzet League Rank within the guild: 0: He is known to very much help the Guild from time to time offering advice. He just doesn't know if he is ready to be completely tied down. Colors: Specialises Red/Blue but is capable of using Green due to heritage.
Spell name: Lightning Bolt CMC: 1 Colour: Red Effect: Deal 3 Damage to Target Creature or Player Description: Nicholas is known for using quite Shocking methods in order to end a fight quickly so it is no wonder he would be drawn to using a very efficient spell.
Spell name: Mizzium Mortars CMC: 2 Colour: Red Effect: Deal 4 damage to target creature you don't control. Overload 3RRR: If you cast this spell for its overload cost replace all instances of 'target' with 'each' Description: Another spell that is a favorite for Nicholas it can quickly clear away a single target or make a path quicker than an Orzhov collects their debts.
Spell name: Counterflux CMC: 3 Colour: Red/Blue Effect: Counterflux can't be countered by spells or abilities. Counter target spell you don't control. Overload 1UUR (You may cast this spell for it's overload cost. If you do, change its text by replacing all instances of "target" with "each.") Description: An Izzet members go to counterspell: Nicholas learned this one from his father.

Description: The spell most commonly used by Izzet Guild members. Using this spell is almost the equivalent of announcing the guild you have allegiance to.

Ferocious — If you control a creature with power 4 or greater, counter that spell instead. Description: The very effective counterspell used by Nicholas in tandem with his creatures in order to create a viable defense against magic.
Spell name: Feed the Clans CMC: 2 Colour: Green Effect: You gain 5 life. Ferocious — You gain 10 life instead if you control a creature with power 4 or greater. Description: A spell that he learned from his Mother. It exemplifies his value for life.

Stats 1/2 Description: A hound made that burns internally with an unparalleled heat. Due to its efforts to consume mana to grow itself Nicholas primarily uses it as his assault unit of choice as it can show an unbridled growth in the presence of spells.
Creature name: Guttersnipe CMC: 3 Colour: Red Effect: Whenever you cast an instant or sorcery spell, Guttersnipe deals 2 damage to each opponent. Stats 2/2 Description: The type of creature that can be used defensively to whittle down an enemy.
Creature name: Ghor-Clan Rampager CMC: 4 Colour: Red/Green Effect: Trample Bloodrush — RG, Discard Ghor-Clan Rampager: Target attacking creature gets +4/+4 and gains trample until end of turn. Stats 4/4 Description: The rampager that Nicholas can use is a stark reference to his heritage. In the rare case, he leads with this he can be mistaken for a Gruul which is sometimes a tactical advantage. If they underestimate you. Then it makes your life much easier.
Additional information: He likes to go to the tavern on Sundays.
@JaceBeleren Actually, after careful consideration, and seeing that another player has interest in simic, I've decided to NOT go with Boros or Simic, instead, I'll roll for Golgari.

Few more questions on mechanics in translation to the rp.
How would Card draw come into effect if at all? Same with Taking extra turn cards. I guess the latter could be seen as counting up by one on the spell count and casting all over again. (though that adds the question of how broken certain cards will be like the power nine's Time walk)
Furthermore, how would mass board wipe spells come into play? I'll use Selesyna as an example. They are certainly not targetable and could hit allies very often (probably even other players.)
Finally how would creature summons work, would they be mindless thralls or effectively mana constructs. (All angels are comprised of white mana after all)
So is there a limit on spells that we can use on this plane? Such as not being able to use Phyrexian spells like Gitaxan probe or Forbidden Magic Ala Obliterate.
If there is still space I would like to extend my hand because I wish to perform an Epic Experiment.
Izzet colors have always resonated with me and so have the mechanics of the Izzet such as the random effects and the whole concept of Overload being cool to me (I cast this spell after tapping into large reserves of mana for something quite explosive to occur). All in all I would like to pledge allegiance to the Firemind and this RP if I can.
